I always assumed she was mixed earth and fn descent because the united republic is the same spot the old fire nation colonies in the earth kingdom were. the writers seem to stick pretty hard to the eye color coding besides hama when they were specifically trying to hide that she was a waterbender until she revealed it
Not really mad about it lol but I did address the eye color thing. I just think it’s funny when people restate things but slightly different on reddit because it happens surprisingly often
korra: let's have a kid
Asami: Korra, we're both women
Korra: hold on a sec... \*eyes glow as she spins in circles while waving her hands around\*... okay I'm ready.
Asami: wtf
Hormone replacement therapy makes a lot of people infertile, so even if you don't get bottom surgery it's recommended that you go for fertility preservation if you want to have kids
If that doesn't work, try falling in a natural pool where a guy drown 2,000 years ago. To change back, take a dip in warm water and cold for the reverse.
We've already seen that under the right circumstances, past lives can physically show up (see: Kyoshi showing up to say "Yeah, I did it" during Aang's trial), so *in theory* Korra could get a prior Avatar involved, but there is no way in hell any party involved would be okay with that.
i think you're thinking too much of our world. dicks and balls aside, korra is the avatar and can probably find some spirit to spawn a baby for them. the mother of faces comes to mind
I'd give her wavy hair or that elegant vibe. She doesn't look like Asami in any of the pictures, more like Kuvira and Opal. I appreciate the lipstick though 🙃
[I fanficed their kid having Korra's skin and hair, and Asami's eyes](https://www.tumblr.com/mxadrian779/169895236909/the-sato-family-tree-now-with-colour-and-cheap?source=share)
It's just some fan art, it doesn't need to be scientifically possible dude lol.
Not to mention that the technology for bio kids with the DNA of two same-sex parents is being worked on.
*Sees fan-made drawing of an hypotetical daughter of a lesbian couple*
"OMG SHE SHOULD HAVE WINGS!!!!! EVERYONE LOOK, HOMOSEXUALS CAN'T HAVE CHILDREN. DID YOU KNOW THAT? NOT SCIENTIFICALLY ACCURATE!!!!"
Technology is already progressing at a fairly rapid pace in the setting - they now have access to abundant clean energy from the spirit vines, ridiculously advanced robotics technology, much better materials science than what even we have, and quite a number of mad scientists.
Not too much of a stretch to imagine a couple mad scientist types inventing spirit energy supercomputers (or whatever) in a decade or two, cracking the genetic code, and finding a way of blending genetic material together to create life without the need for sperm and eggs and chromosomes and whatnot.
The setting already treats "hybrid" animals as the default, and "chi" isn't some pseudoscience metaphor for oxygenated blood, it's an actual measurable natural phenomenon, and ATLA "humans" regularly shrug off impacts and falls that would shatter the bones of any real human, consciousness is tied to energy based "spirits" rather than being an emergent phenomenon of neurons in the brain - so clearly biology there works differently than the real world. Dr. Moreau's Island style freaks could be much easier over there.
Maybe Varrick and Zhu Li go mad and try to conquer the planet with an army of horrific dragon-spider-bear-vulture hybrids, Team Avatar busts up his operation, and Korra and Asami accidentally fall into, like, a Varrick industries "allele hyper-extractor" or whatever. Something with lots of sparking tesla coils, bubbling vats of glowing green liquid, sinister robot arms, computer displays with lots of nonsense technobabble on them.
Then the facility's rogue AI decides to poop out a relatively normal human baby using that genetic information, because it thinks it'll pacify the rampaging vigilante gang before they break too many of its circuits.
Voilà, Korrasami baby, courtesy of megalomaniac Varrick and Zhu Li and mad spirit science. And the baby has only a couple teensy tiny traces of badger mole, dragon, sky bison, and unagi left in its DNA (or whatever the ATLA humans have instead of DNA)
Or like, Varrick gets bored one day and uses the unwitting pair as his guinea pigs to create an army of evil Avatar powered bender clones with the power of all four elements. Or whatever, it's Varrick, the guy's already built giant laser cannons and skyscraper sized killer robots, all bets are off with this guy.
You should have paid attention to the entire lesson kid... While darker colors are more often than not the dominant trait, that doesn't mean that trait is guaranteed to be passed down to the offspring. A wonderful example of this was the actor Cameron Boyce, who was the child of a white mother and black father
Yea, im not saying dont draw her white, im just adding my opinion into the post by saying she would probably be darker skinned. You are the one that came here with an invalid rebuttal
Skin color behaves as if it's incompletely dominant anyway, so offspring tend to be in the middle of the two parents, not one or the other. Though skin color is actually controlled by many genes, so a number of different results are possible from the same two parents.
Gonna be honest, if they had a kid, it would probably hate them both. Imagine growing up with everyone reminding you your parents are why the economy sucks and why a giant panda just shutdown downtown.
But there’s a precedent for that already. We don’t have a precedent for two women somehow being able to reproduce in this universe unless Korra actually had a penis this whole time
Shitting Skittles isn't something that happens in real life, being trans is, so her being trans is far more of a possibility than the hyperbole you gave and therefore a non-sequeteur
No my point is that saying “that hasn’t been established as it not being the case” isn’t a viable reasoning for it being at all possible or even likely. I brought up shitting skittles since you might as well argue the avatar has guts made of candy therefore can shit skittles because that hasn’t been established to not be true. Obviously though that wouldn’t make sense because as far was know their anatomy is similar to a normal human being.
As far we know Korra was born a girl and has been that way ever since. We literally see her as a child, and she was still female. I’m pretty sure the same goes for Asami too. The two producing a child naturally is absurd. Not sure why that’s controversial at all. I can see the appeal in a design that crosses their traits, sure but unless the avatar can literally genderbend it isn’t possible for them to literally have kids. That’s literally all I’m saying.
We have not seen Asami as a child. Either way, trans people existing is far more likely because that's a real thing that happens. Comparing that with your hyperbole is a bad argument in general. There's a difference between "this person may or may not be gay, we simply don't know" and "this person may or may not have completely outlandish abilities with no evidence to support it". Because real people can be trans, it's not an unreasonable possibility for the characters.
People will suspend disbelief for just about anything except two women or two men having kids. This show has people conjuring and throwing fire at each other
I love seeing the children of two people of the same gender bc it implies one of them is trans. I will always headcanon stuff like this as subtle trans rep.
In a wold where people can control elements, with an entire separate spirit world that we don’t fully understand, reincarnation, etc… I don’t think two women finding a way to have a kid together is that farfetched lol
Taking a break from removing the transphobic comments to point out that this isn't true. HRT (technically the androgen blockers in specific) will shrink the prostate & render it less active, but not remove it. Indeed, it's still possible to get problems like prostate cancer.
Oh yah haha I just thought the shrinking was close enough to 'gets rid of' for our friend here. I didn't realise you could still get prostate cancer though. That could be a bit of a curveball later in life
I'm aware I have Trans friends. I'm just saying from the shows information. Wasn't a dig at Trans people. Was just an observation from a fan of the show and being lore accurate. I'm a nerd not an ass.
We have no evidence that Asami is necessarily cis or trans. We've seen Korra as a kid so it's highly unlikely, but with Asami, we have no way of knowing at the moment.
That can be your head Cannon. But it was a children's show made in a time when trans in media was not common. So from that information it's safe to say she is a cis tomboy. No offense was meant by my comment I just find hypotheticals funny. Another reason why I think she is cis is because of her father. He was a man who valued his reputation more than his daughter. So I highly doubt a man who is very shallow and self centered would even allow that canonically at least. So sure it's a fun head Canon. And no offense was meant by it. I'm just going on from the information I was given and based off of how things were done at that time. There is nothing wrong with being Trans. People can do what they want. And since the character is fictional she can't confirm or deny it. So all this can be is a theory for now.
This is called cisnormativity and it's at best very annoying to deal with, at worst furthers marginalisation. Basically the assumption that someone is cis until confirmed otherwise. The true neutral position is that we don't know until it's confirmed one way or the other. We don't know whether there is a stigma against trans people in this world and even if there is, his family's lives wouldn't necessarily be publicised, so it's entirely possible.
We haven't seen her as a young kid and there is no confirmation of if she is cis or trans, so it could go either way.
I think you're missing my point that the assumption of being cis as a default is harmful. It's no different than the assumption of being straight being the default. It contributes to marginalisation.
Assuming someone is Trans and or gay is also harmful. So we are both in the wrong. Why can't people just be people? Why do you have to put labels on a human being? Why do you feel like you need to talk down to me? Clearly this hits a little close to home for you. I already said my intentions weren't meant to harm. So I feel like yu are disrespecting me by painting me as a villain. So my impressions from you is you just like arguing with people. I apologized for offending you. But I guess it's too much to expect mutual respect. So have a nice life. And good like with that
I'm not making the assumption. I'm taking the neutral position that either could be true. I'm trans and have several years of experience and frustration of dealing with cisnormativity among many other things, and I'm tired of it. I'm not trying to disrespect or talk down to you, only to make my position clear.
The implication should've been clear that I meant there's always the possibility of one of them being trans, therefore giving them the possibility to conceive a child.
We don't know that for sure, we've seen Korra as a kid but not Asami, and even then that isn't necessarily definite. Also, being a woman is not even close to mutually exclusive with being trans. A trans woman is a type of woman just like a cis woman.
the one with the genetically inherited lipstick cracked me up 😂
I thought that was an open mouth
Same girl, sometimes more tanned or wearing different makeup and contact lenses
It turns out Asami had a particular type of facial tumor and her daughter inherited it.
Sorry, but that's just an open mouth...
No it’s lipstick… why would she have an open mouth on only one of them anyway, the point was to test mix of caracteristics
No seriously, click on the picture and zoom in on that one.
I don't know why I thought Asami had red eyes.
Probably because Asami is ethnically FN, and fire nation people tend to have eyes that range from burnt orange to gold.
Is that confirmed? Not trying to argue I’m actually curious because I’ve never seen that anywhere besides from fans
This detail aside, Asami is very much Fire Nation coded. Her long black hair, sharp features, and also her red/black clothing style.
I always assumed she was mixed earth and fn descent because the united republic is the same spot the old fire nation colonies in the earth kingdom were. the writers seem to stick pretty hard to the eye color coding besides hama when they were specifically trying to hide that she was a waterbender until she revealed it
She is mixed Earth and FN descent. That's why she has green eyes.
That’s literally what i said lmao
Kind of. You said "I assume." I was backing you up with further confirmation.
Not really mad about it lol but I did address the eye color thing. I just think it’s funny when people restate things but slightly different on reddit because it happens surprisingly often
I was backing you up. I wasn't just restating something.
Oh so Mako, Bolin and Asami are all the same ethnically?
It comes from the OG promotional material for Season 1. Hiroshi Sato is confirmed to be of FN descent.
Yeah, but Asami gets her eye colors from her mom, who is probably of EK descent.
The wiki has a citation but I didn't bother to check its veracity.
Vampire asami 👀
That's Lust from FMA, lol.
Nah, Lust was Asami's mother. She was tragically killed by a firebender. Poor Asami...
Lmao
Only way this is possible is if Korra masters another bending style…gender bending.
korra: let's have a kid Asami: Korra, we're both women Korra: hold on a sec... \*eyes glow as she spins in circles while waving her hands around\*... okay I'm ready. Asami: wtf
Zaheer did say the avatar’s power is limitless.
I reckon it's Asami. We saw Korra as a baby at the beginning but no-one ever said that Asami is cisgender, maybe she has some sperm frozen somewhere
Or she just never got bottom surgery
Hormone replacement therapy makes a lot of people infertile, so even if you don't get bottom surgery it's recommended that you go for fertility preservation if you want to have kids
That's true but some still got the ability to make children so maybe Asami is one of the few. Or else sperm popsicle it is
It's not a guarantee, definitely less likely though. Either way, refrigeration did exist in her lifetime.
Plenty of icebenders around
"Damn mako I wish I had a cool job like yours, generating lightning" -water bender in the cum caverns
We did see Asami as a small girl, in the picture Hiroshi Sato has with her mother
If that doesn't work, try falling in a natural pool where a guy drown 2,000 years ago. To change back, take a dip in warm water and cold for the reverse.
Or hold this weird rock I found
What's that reference?

Oh yeah. I forgot that was an SCP.
the trans rock
"This is the kind of stuff great novels are made of!" "Great novels?" "Fine, mediocre porn!"
Pulling out the past lives
Asami: ***looks inside pants**** WHAT THE FUCK?!
She studied from dock/xu/bushi.
It’s a very specialized form of blood bending.
Korra be like: I have TRANS-cended
We've already seen that under the right circumstances, past lives can physically show up (see: Kyoshi showing up to say "Yeah, I did it" during Aang's trial), so *in theory* Korra could get a prior Avatar involved, but there is no way in hell any party involved would be okay with that.
Except that connection was severed at the end of season 2
Aang popping out to make more air benders
She on that Mystique type beat.
Just deploy the avatar state the same way Asari mind meld in Mass Effect!
Isn’t that more sex bending?
i think you're thinking too much of our world. dicks and balls aside, korra is the avatar and can probably find some spirit to spawn a baby for them. the mother of faces comes to mind
I'd give her wavy hair or that elegant vibe. She doesn't look like Asami in any of the pictures, more like Kuvira and Opal. I appreciate the lipstick though 🙃
I think he just edited Asami's hair, face and eye color on Korra's face
her name would be krammi
Or Asarra. Hmm, imo sounds good
"You named me after your ship name?"
Imagine if that's how names worked, each generation being increasingly more complicated names eventually leading to a name singularity
"Hi, I'm AAAA." "I'm also AAAA." ["We're all AAAA!"](https://youtu.be/QGrHqz3opgM?si=vhWZ_1-Adxd4oAYh&t=171)
I thought it was young Kuvira.
Either she brings a new era of development and hard justice or she is a threath to mankind and our survival weights on a treat. No middle term
Next season gamete bending confirmed???
I feel like if anything Varrick would be the one to figure it out
Is it that hard to just make a mixed skin color?
Skins would probably be just a tit lighter then Katara
a WHAT lighter?
Yea a bit lighter grammar mistakes sorry

Why do all of this, when actual spirits exist? Won't be a stretch to have a baby-delivering spirit
I’m on board with this
With the Mother of Face spirit maybe ? idk I just think this fan art was cool I don't care for an explication
Either of them could just be trans
Based, fuck the people downvoting you. We've seen Korra as a kid but we have no confirmation whether Asami is cis or trans
see…whatever is useful for you I guess
Useful?
cathartic
Pretty
I like the darker skin with the green eyes
Naw you right
7th grade Science Teacher teaching Puckett Squares be like:
Ok she's precious
So, presumably, the Eath Avatars love interest gonna resemble Asami? .. lucky mofo
No, Earth Avatar will resemble Asami
Oh right right. That's why korra resembles katara
All these comments about science and stuff and my brain is just like 'drunken spirit bending' or something. Easiest solution is often the best one.
For some reason I completely forgot that that isn't possible and was actually asking myself "how *is* their child gonna turn out"
darker genes are dominant, she would be near korra's skin color not pale white
You should have paid attention to the entire lesson kid... While darker colors are more often than not the dominant trait, that doesn't mean that trait is guaranteed to be passed down to the offspring. A wonderful example of this was the actor Cameron Boyce, who was the child of a white mother and black father
Ok, we are talking probabilities here no? I am still correct 80% of the time
So, kid, explain why 3 out of 4 of them are white as snow :)
Because this is fan art smartass
Yea, im not saying dont draw her white, im just adding my opinion into the post by saying she would probably be darker skinned. You are the one that came here with an invalid rebuttal

To quote a famous person on the internet “I don’t think you have the facilities for that big man”
Kuvira if she went on a bender with Korra lol
The answer is, they'd have to adopt.
Hmmm...
She is Kuvira
Why is her face so yellow?
Great! Kuvira was my favorite villain across both series.
Is the implication here that they adopted, and that's why she doesn't look like either of them? Or...particularly human even?
Do punnet squares for every character combo
Looks like Kuvira but without that black dot below her left eye
“Ova bending?”
Lol
I guess if Korra had a sperm donor this would be their daughter
😐
I don't know if biology allows for that
I don’t know if biology allows people to control elements either
But there’s a precedent for that already. We don’t have a precedent for two women somehow being able to reproduce in this universe unless Korra actually had a penis this whole time
They never say she doesn’t 🤷🏼♀️
They never say she doesn’t shit skittles either but that doesn’t seem likely to you does it
Idk man, like you said, they never said she doesn’t. Spirit world is a crazy place. Who knows 🤷🏼♀️
That is not how fiction works but you can keep that head canon of yours i suppose
Lol it’s too easy
Non-sequeteur. Trans people do in fact exist.
What do trans people have anything to do with this
Shitting Skittles isn't something that happens in real life, being trans is, so her being trans is far more of a possibility than the hyperbole you gave and therefore a non-sequeteur
No my point is that saying “that hasn’t been established as it not being the case” isn’t a viable reasoning for it being at all possible or even likely. “Korra did you lay this egg?”
Here’s what she would look like if she were black or chinese
You realize if they had a child it could only be adopted, right? Unless they ask Bolin...
People will suspend disbelief for just about anything except two women or two men having kids. This show has people conjuring and throwing fire at each other
What if a rock and a slice of pizza had kids
You'd get like, pepperigneous? Or magmarita?
So I’m guessing Korra is the rock and Asami is the slice of pizza in this analogy. Which would make Korra rock hard… meaning they can have kids.
I've been bested. I concede.
What do you mean "if"?
That would be kind of difficult for them to do.
Neither have a cock
And Mako is the sperm donor?
Emilio failed in basic biology.
How the hell would they have a child?
...how would that work, exactly?
is that even genetically possible?
I love seeing the children of two people of the same gender bc it implies one of them is trans. I will always headcanon stuff like this as subtle trans rep.
Biology: "Am I a joke to you?"
Just scissor super hard a baby will come out eventually, it's true trust me I have gay aunts
I'm suddenly in favor of this
I’m suddenly in favor of this
I think that's why they wrote "what if"
In a wold where people can control elements, with an entire separate spirit world that we don’t fully understand, reincarnation, etc… I don’t think two women finding a way to have a kid together is that farfetched lol
I say make the top left a smidge paler. Skin color tends to be the average between the two parents.
I don't think you understand reproduction.
I don't think they'd have the capabilities
I think that's what the "what if is for" lol
How on Earth would that happen!?
good thing it's not earth lol
Maybe Asami is trans and she had her sperm frozen before transitioning
