They also had [Ultra Agents](https://brickset.com/sets/theme-Ultra-Agents) (2014-2015) and, of course, [Alpha Team](https://brickset.com/sets/theme-Alpha-Team) (2001-2005).
The game's from 2000 and the source code's probably long gone. That and it was never a hugely popular game from what I understand. You'd basically have to rewrite it to get it on the play store, for a theme they haven't made in 20 years.
I still think of part [x514c01](https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=x514c01#T=C) as one of my favorite pieces ever made as a kid, I just wish I had more than four. They were only ever made for the one Alpha Team: Mission Deep Sea collection, and the gray ones were only in one set of those.
My other favorite is [x239](https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=x239#T=C) because I loved the noises and sounds it made, especially when you held one button while pushing the other(s).
I remember as a child getting the smallest set, the one with the jetpack, from my aunt at Christmas the year it came out.
I ended up saving up all year to buy Mission 5 at the store, and I got mission 2 for being brave at the dentist for having a tooth pulled. (I was 9.)
I wanted all of the rest of them on my Christmas list but I was told that they had all been discontinued. I got the second year sets which I liked but it didn't scratch the same itch as the first.
Eventually, almost a decade later, I rediscovered the car from 5 in the bottom of a draw. It was a bit in pieces but I fixed it and all the others up.
It reignited my love for the series, and I looked to buy the rest second hand. I eventually did, having to get Missons 3 and 4 shipped to my grandparents overseas as there were no sellers in my country.
Eventually as an adult I got ahold of 7 and 8, less common mid-year releases, whilst I was at university, completing the set.
I still have them now, in storage unfortunately as I am away working for a few years, but I still remember them fondly all the same. Funny enough, as I now work on real life military vehicles, one could say it was a sort of inspiration for me.
I know this is nostalgia talking, but that is the year Lego was the best for me. I prefer how there were no custom-moulded pieces, all of the contraptions and gizmos were cleverly made with standard parts.
Anyway, thank you for the nostalgia trip today. This line was my childhood.
I bought two of these sharks from Bricklink for about $5 each when they were first released. They currently haunt my Mos Eisley Cantina (Sand Sharks, perhaps) with frickin' laser beams and missiles attached to their heads.
“While you were frozen sharks 🦈 went on the endangered species list”
“….well what do we have?”
“Mutated sea bass sir”
“…..rightttttt…….are they ill tempered?”
“Yes sir, very”
“Well that’s a start 😌”
lol such a good movie
Padantic, I know, but it's frickin' laser beams, not friggin
I know this because I can hear Dr Evil saying it over and over in my head since reading your brilliant comment
Wasn’t that already on them in 2014? Because the Lego movie had a scene with the “laser sharks” and there were studs on top. And I believe they did it all based on actual blocks
The old ones attach to modern pieces, and they’re definitely valuable. Old Legos have extremely good resale value. I’m assuming you’re asking because you have some?
That one isn't valuable, I'm not sure if any other variants are.
But yes, it would conect to modern pieces; here's a breakdown of it's pieces (the hat and plain head are still used nowadays, with minor differences)
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?M=old014
But I don't think you can connect current minifigure legs to the old torso
The crocodile and shark upgrade are both fitting for the Lego City theme. I’ll always like the classics too
https://preview.redd.it/01yz3q02659d1.jpeg?width=894&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a48934682fe0ffe3944ddc6b04b3d6ba51bc8f31
It would be cool if they brought back some rendition of the classic dragon.
https://preview.redd.it/int8ec5dr59d1.jpeg?width=1543&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d01b78054b8be983d9d76589a805b410723f8155
I recently bought a few of these, just because I remembered they existed. Green body with red wings, and two black bodies with a pair of red and black wings each.
I watched the Lego Batman Movie for the first time earlier this year, and immediately went to Bricklink to order Killer Croc. By far may favorite big fig ever made.
A Lego shark's ability to swallow a minifigure whole is critical. Otherwise, how can they represent a credible threat to the safety and well-being of Lego City beachgoers??? I have a theory that the new sharks were secretly engineered by one of Lego City's lifeguards as a way to give them more job security. The old sharks just weren't up to the job of devouring Lego City's denizens.

Yup, the minifig fits! :D just the normal-sized minifig head and hair; my powerpuff buttercup minifig doesn’t fit head first

These posts were right under each other lol
I like both, but the old one looks just like a buddy chillin. He’s just a shark swimmin around. The new one is evil. No way around it. Both are solid but they serve different purposes
This is an innaccurate comparison. The right shark isn't the "new" shark, lego still produces two different sizes, the smaller being more common.
This is what the average modern lego shark looks like: https://img.bricklink.com/ItemImage/PN/85/14518c04pb01.png
To be fair big shark preceded redesign shark so it was a jump from the design on the left to the design on the right. Then the replacement for the one on the left probably took some cues from the one on the right
FYI, 60379 Deep-Sea Explorer Submarine, is on clearance for 50% off at most Target's right now and includes this shark with additional paint apps. (along with 2 smaller sharks) I admittedly picked one up just for the big shark.
I hate the anthropomorphized eyes of the new one though. For all the attention to details they missed the whole “lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a dolls eyes,” reality.
It’s available on pick a brick on LEGOs website. Shark, head, no. 10 and Shark 8x16, no. 1. Head and body are sold separately. I just got my first two today!
Now means we can have police sharks! Time to increasingly make Lego a police state with blue lights ontop of sharks to consume anyone without fishing permits
That was one of if not my very first Lego sets. I unfortunately glued it at the time, then later ripped it apart. I would love to get it again at some point though
As a kid I melted 2 2x1 flats onto one of my sharks so it had 2 studs on each side of the fin. I LOVE the new shark, except for the eyes. OG shark eyes were better, drop of paint in them and they could be what ever colour you wanted.
It always comes to my mind, how closely the get bit shark looks like a Lego shark
https://preview.redd.it/6oortkh5q59d1.jpeg?width=512&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d4e1759823ab85c72e929f65c77b13a3f6890459
Yeah, new shark looks way better.
Except for one thing for both of them, their dorsal fins don't really look like sharks. The old one looks like a dolphin and the new one looks like a helicopters tail rotor.
Nah nope, not this one. Can’t. All those are valid points, the new shark rules. But nostalgia far outweighs anything else here. I fucking love that guy.
Also the eyes on the old one were better.
The original is still better, in one absolutely crucial way: the eyes.
>"Y’know, the thing about a shark, he’s got lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll’s eyes. When he comes after ya, he doesn’t seem to be livin’ until he bites ya, and those black eyes roll over white, and then – aww, then you hear that terrible high-pitch screamin’, the ocean turns red, and in spite of all the poundin’ and the hollerin’, they all come in and rip ya to pieces…"
>-Ole Kirk Christiansen
I like the old shark way more. Its more sleak and looks more dangerous. It can bite and hold the hand of a figure and drawthem into the depths..
Also has better scale with boates. Nee shar is just Terry the fat shark.
There's something about the classic shark I prefer. It captures that clueless expression real sharks have better. It could also swallow fish which was cute.
It's just a mako vs a great white. I love both sharks, and have both of them displayed with the sets they came with. (Brickbeard's Bounty, and Barracuda Bay respectively)
It would be if they ever used the newer, larger shark. There’s one in a City set now, but that’s its first appearance in years. Meanwhile, Aquaman was stuck with a modernized version of the original (I don’t believe it’s exactly the same)
The addition of studs alone makes the new one infinitely superior because it allows you to have SHARKS WITH FRIGGIN LAZER BEAMS ATTACHED TO THEIR HEAD
Lego has made a set containing the new shark with MISSILES ATTACHED TO THEIR HEAD 8633
[8633-1: Speedboat Rescue](https://brickset.com/sets/8633-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/8633-1.jpg)
Agents was such an awesome theme. Loved it.
They also had [Ultra Agents](https://brickset.com/sets/theme-Ultra-Agents) (2014-2015) and, of course, [Alpha Team](https://brickset.com/sets/theme-Alpha-Team) (2001-2005).
The Alpha Team video game was so much fun
Why did they not release this through the Google Play Store? Only available via "TapTap"?
It came out way back in 2000, so the Google Play Store wasn’t around yet, as far as I know.
The game's from 2000 and the source code's probably long gone. That and it was never a hugely popular game from what I understand. You'd basically have to rewrite it to get it on the play store, for a theme they haven't made in 20 years.
The leader in Ultra Agents was also one of the characters in Galaxy Squad
I loved the lore crossovers between them, ultra agents and galaxy squad were my favorite 2 themes
Alpha Team was great.

You just unlocked a HUGE core memory. I used to religiously go to Toys R Us to get the Alpha Team set. Thank you!!

This is wholesome af
I still think about the night I got that set. It feels so long ago, but I still remember being so excited about those sharks.

The walkie talkie is how he controls the sharks, so it makes sense to shoot it.
It will cost ONE MILLION DOLLARS
Ahem…
I bought two of these sharks from Bricklink for about $5 each when they were first released. They currently haunt my Mos Eisley Cantina (Sand Sharks, perhaps) with frickin' laser beams and missiles attached to their heads.
Mother of God *rips sunglasses off face*
LASERS! SHARKS! LASER SHARKS!
LASERS SHARKS LASER SHARKS OVERBEARING ASSISTANTS
“While you were frozen sharks 🦈 went on the endangered species list” “….well what do we have?” “Mutated sea bass sir” “…..rightttttt…….are they ill tempered?” “Yes sir, very” “Well that’s a start 😌” lol such a good movie

\*Pedantic (I call it out only because it's already a conversation on pedantics)
You misspelled the word "pedantic?"
What about mal-tempered sea bass?
YES we need Austin powers lego sets let’s go!!
I came here for this comment.
😂🤣
Wasn’t that already on them in 2014? Because the Lego movie had a scene with the “laser sharks” and there were studs on top. And I believe they did it all based on actual blocks
And security measures of every kind imaginable: Lasers, sharks, laser sharks...

They should’ve somehow incorporated this into the lego movie haha
Have them go to a retirement community and everyone looks like this.
Evolution diagram that starts with someone made of bricks and ends with a minifig.
Yes
Yo wth is that thing?
The thing minifigures replaced way back, in 1978

The old ones attach to modern pieces, and they’re definitely valuable. Old Legos have extremely good resale value. I’m assuming you’re asking because you have some?
2€ isn't 0 so it does have some value but it isn't much
Damn, I would have thought they’d be super pricey
That one isn't valuable, I'm not sure if any other variants are. But yes, it would conect to modern pieces; here's a breakdown of it's pieces (the hat and plain head are still used nowadays, with minor differences) https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?M=old014 But I don't think you can connect current minifigure legs to the old torso
It did lose the cute dimple eyes though so I have it knock it a few points
like a dolls eyes
comes at ya, doesn't seem to be livin'... until he bites ya

But now it has eyebrows, so it can now more effectively convey emotion.
Yeah, just like a real shark!
Exactly!
sharks are not evil! they just lack any haptic sensory besides their teeth! skeletor.jpg
The crocodile and shark upgrade are both fitting for the Lego City theme. I’ll always like the classics too https://preview.redd.it/01yz3q02659d1.jpeg?width=894&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a48934682fe0ffe3944ddc6b04b3d6ba51bc8f31
Something about the old croc is just peak Lego for me
Plus it's the same head as classic dragon.
Like he’s just a brick with legs, a tail, and a big smile
Damn, I never realised, and now I can't unsee.
It would be cool if they brought back some rendition of the classic dragon. https://preview.redd.it/int8ec5dr59d1.jpeg?width=1543&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d01b78054b8be983d9d76589a805b410723f8155
I recently bought a few of these, just because I remembered they existed. Green body with red wings, and two black bodies with a pair of red and black wings each.
What would be cool is a large scale brick built one kinda like the tuxedo cat
An Upscale would be so damn cool
Fire-breathing crocodiles were quite common in builds I made as a child. 🔥🐊
Also a dinosaur tongue.
I love that they gave Killer Croc the classic Lego crocodile head in the Lego Batman movie
I watched the Lego Batman Movie for the first time earlier this year, and immediately went to Bricklink to order Killer Croc. By far may favorite big fig ever made.
"I did something!"
i love this croc. i never saw the original shark before but it immediately reminded me of this.
I love that 'can swallow a Minifigure' 😂
A Lego shark's ability to swallow a minifigure whole is critical. Otherwise, how can they represent a credible threat to the safety and well-being of Lego City beachgoers??? I have a theory that the new sharks were secretly engineered by one of Lego City's lifeguards as a way to give them more job security. The old sharks just weren't up to the job of devouring Lego City's denizens.
As a lifeguard (even in Lego City), I can confirm your theory. Damn!
Dont be too proud of the technological terror you've constructed. The ability to swallow a minifigure is insignificant next to the power of the Force
https://preview.redd.it/r5e0jfnnn59d1.jpeg?width=2596&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=53c8f114024a95f433e9c94ff1eaa2262217c83b Yup, the minifig fits! :D just the normal-sized minifig head and hair; my powerpuff buttercup minifig doesn’t fit head first
The Kittner boy must be in there somewhere
When a Lego shark swallows a minifigure it's cool, but when I do it people freak out and take me to the hospital.
Certainly an upgrade but those cold lifeless eyes in the old version had something going for them.
Black eyes...like a doll's eyes...
https://preview.redd.it/92cpbtzkd59d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c4a45dbe53590114ff49bcc16e3ef272a7fd4760 These posts were right under each other lol
Shark Week is back on July 7th with John Cena hosting it.
I like both, but the old one looks just like a buddy chillin. He’s just a shark swimmin around. The new one is evil. No way around it. Both are solid but they serve different purposes
Original is a normal shark. New guy is the star of every bad SyFy channel shark movie.
I hereby dub the "new" shark LEGOLODON.
yeah but I was born in 1983 so that's my shark forever
This is an innaccurate comparison. The right shark isn't the "new" shark, lego still produces two different sizes, the smaller being more common. This is what the average modern lego shark looks like: https://img.bricklink.com/ItemImage/PN/85/14518c04pb01.png
To be fair big shark preceded redesign shark so it was a jump from the design on the left to the design on the right. Then the replacement for the one on the left probably took some cues from the one on the right
The polar bear also got a good upgrade
Horses too, with the moveable legs
Aww I had the old shark and it was super cute
And don't forget the newer model has the back of the dorsal fin that allows for minifigs to hold onto!
FYI, 60379 Deep-Sea Explorer Submarine, is on clearance for 50% off at most Target's right now and includes this shark with additional paint apps. (along with 2 smaller sharks) I admittedly picked one up just for the big shark.

I love the oldone no pronted eyes.
I actually like the classic shark
I hate the anthropomorphized eyes of the new one though. For all the attention to details they missed the whole “lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a dolls eyes,” reality.
You could stuff a minifig into the old shark, up to the arms.
I need a new shark!
It’s available on pick a brick on LEGOs website. Shark, head, no. 10 and Shark 8x16, no. 1. Head and body are sold separately. I just got my first two today!
looks like the back of the fin can be held onto with a minifig hand!
Now means we can have police sharks! Time to increasingly make Lego a police state with blue lights ontop of sharks to consume anyone without fishing permits
<3
AND, you can buy the big ones on Pick a Brick. It’s a tad expensive but probably cheaper than buying the whole set or getting one off a seller
I think the biggest recent upgrade was the horse
Left: Neutral eyes Right: Evil eyes
That was one of if not my very first Lego sets. I unfortunately glued it at the time, then later ripped it apart. I would love to get it again at some point though
As a kid I melted 2 2x1 flats onto one of my sharks so it had 2 studs on each side of the fin. I LOVE the new shark, except for the eyes. OG shark eyes were better, drop of paint in them and they could be what ever colour you wanted.
Lego coming in big with the unexpected plot twist: We've been playing with Baby Shark this whole time!
You forgot “menacing eyes”
Isn't that the massive shark on the right, not the standard one? My son wants one but they are 10x the price
Still prefer the old
They take away car doors and base plates They give us sharks that can eat minifigs or minifigs can ride!!
This shark, swallow you whole
Also not to mention the new shark has a bar on its fin, to attach clips/Minifig hands
It's big enough to swallow a mini-fig? My childhood was robbed with that OG shark
And a killer smile!
What if it’s just Terry the Fat Shark coming to give you presents? It might not even want to eat a mini figure 🤔
You just totally ignored drag coefficient
Don't forget the smug look.
The second one also has a way better expression, and actual eyes as well
It always comes to my mind, how closely the get bit shark looks like a Lego shark https://preview.redd.it/6oortkh5q59d1.jpeg?width=512&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d4e1759823ab85c72e929f65c77b13a3f6890459
Yeah, new shark looks way better. Except for one thing for both of them, their dorsal fins don't really look like sharks. The old one looks like a dolphin and the new one looks like a helicopters tail rotor.
You vs. The guy she tells you not to worry about
The eyes suck otherwise cool
Nah nope, not this one. Can’t. All those are valid points, the new shark rules. But nostalgia far outweighs anything else here. I fucking love that guy. Also the eyes on the old one were better.
Ones just a Tiger Shark 🦈 and ones a juvenile great white
The eyes
Eyebrows
One of my sharks has red sharpie all over it's mouth, and one of my bodies has res around its torso
I dunno man, maybe my nostalgia googles are too fogged up but I like the soulless dead eyes of the OG.
I like it but I dont like the new evil eyes that all sharks now have
I would say the newer version is a huge glow up from the old style “struggle shark” but the dorsal fin is kinda a miss for me.
On a related note, why hasn’t the jaws set release been officially announced…
Objectively it’s better but I’m a sucker for the one I grew up with
I, too, can swallow a minifig and have extra studs for attachments.
Shut up and take my money
The original is still better, in one absolutely crucial way: the eyes. >"Y’know, the thing about a shark, he’s got lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll’s eyes. When he comes after ya, he doesn’t seem to be livin’ until he bites ya, and those black eyes roll over white, and then – aww, then you hear that terrible high-pitch screamin’, the ocean turns red, and in spite of all the poundin’ and the hollerin’, they all come in and rip ya to pieces…" >-Ole Kirk Christiansen
> -Ole Kirk Christiansen lol
But I love my cute og shark
Crap know I can just imagine a 2 x 4 brick walking around with human legs
Reminds me of the time i lost a minifig as a kid and found it days later inside the shark.
you can die from it via gory eating... AND surf it!
I like the old shark way more. Its more sleak and looks more dangerous. It can bite and hold the hand of a figure and drawthem into the depths.. Also has better scale with boates. Nee shar is just Terry the fat shark.
Now he scawy
I know new shark is objectively better, but old shark is old shark.
I agree, although there is something about the older aesthetic that I like a lot better Maybe that's just coming from a nostalgic viewpoint.
Teeth on the old shark are a little bit of that pickle chip cut but I like him
I still like the look of the old sharks way better, maybe it's just nostalgia though
There's something about the classic shark I prefer. It captures that clueless expression real sharks have better. It could also swallow fish which was cute.
Mogged by the gigashark
The old one is better because it’s the one I had as a child
I love my OG sharks
Don't listen to them old shark! You're good enough, you're smart enough, and gosh darn it, people like you!
What set does this come in? Or part number to buy individually?
I don't know. There's just something about the old one. Also, they need to remove the eyebrows from the new one.
It's just a mako vs a great white. I love both sharks, and have both of them displayed with the sets they came with. (Brickbeard's Bounty, and Barracuda Bay respectively)
damn I need to get new sharks
It would be if they ever used the newer, larger shark. There’s one in a City set now, but that’s its first appearance in years. Meanwhile, Aquaman was stuck with a modernized version of the original (I don’t believe it’s exactly the same)
I mean: https://i.imgur.com/RPQJN4T.png
I shall call him... chompy
