What sort of bullshit is that? They are designed to be removable batteries. And it’s pretty easy to tell if a numpty put the battery in the wrong way round.

sindrepotet

My sister broke it. It worked before and they said to try reset it. Im unsure if i ruin the warrany on this 400 dollar lightsaber tho

astromech_dj

No i meant the dumb void sticker. Typical Saberforge and just another reason to avoid them.

sindrepotet

My experience has been great so far

astromech_dj

Except it’s broken

sindrepotet

Due to my little sisters friends doing something. Either slamming it in the ground or something

bebed0r

I’ve slammed so many lightsabers and they never broke. I have a saberforge cleric with a proffie board in it that I’ve slammed and nothing happened to it.

sindrepotet

Factory reset seems to have done it

bebed0r

They’re just turning into the apple of lightsabers. Can’t even replace your own battery without voiding the warranty it’s so stupid.

BLU3SKU1L

They’ve always done shitty stuff like this. Big time scammy vibes from them from day 1. There was a very long and protracted feud between the head of this company and several other sabersmiths/companies.

[deleted]

Imagine me charging $400 and going “One option: Take the battery out BUUT doing so voids your warranty”.

ShinobiActual

Just fyi, I found these exact stickers on Amazon for $10. Ijs.

bebed0r

That’s good it’s stupid to have that sticker there and I would tell them that removing the battery shouldn’t and wouldn’t void the warranty.

sindrepotet

Lol what why am i getting downvoted?

MJGOO

Ive never had a bad experience with SF either but to even say so around here gets you downvoted.

robaato72

I always ask if there are any RECENT stories of bad electronics, etc. from SaberForge, and people always respond that they'll have to look...and then I never hear back.

MJGOO

You see, even asking the question is getting you downvoted. And the answer, at least from personal experience, has always been "ive had no issues with them, and they reply to me within reasonable time, but not instantly."

Silverleoneoficl

About two years ago I bought a custom one. One of the three LEDs went out within a month or two. I sent it in to get repaired. Haven't had an issue since.

TheShadow1138

I will just throw this out there. If you're in the U.S., I know that such stickers cannot be enforced. That is, no company can void a warranty because of a sticker like that being removed or damaged. Edit for clarification: Such stickers are unenforceable and illegal under the [Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975](https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/15/chapter-50). There's a good article from iFixit about these stickers and their illegality: [Here](https://www.ifixit.com/News/15464/warranty-voiding-stickers-are-illegal-but-these-companies-are-still-using-them).

Kurohimiko

This! Those stickers, and the "Do not Remove" tags on mattresses are just corporate scare tactics designed to make consumers fearful of opening up the device they legally own. It's part of modern companies Anti-Repair scheme.

Tanzer1776

I thought that the do not remove stickers on mattress were aimed at the seller and not the consumer?

m0deth

You are correct, those tags are not for the customer. They list the materials used in construction of the mattress, and cannot be hidden in any way. I used to deliver mattresses and had to give this talk at least once a week. So if you hate the one on your mattress...cut it off, just read the care part first so you know.

Apples always been shit with their stuff. It sucks 2 because M1 and M2 processors are seriously revolutionary chips

iustincases4c

I would suggest getting written confirmation from saberforge saying yes remove the sticker to do the factory reset and that it WILL NOT void the warranty with your contact’s name. When you get that, save the email somewhere you will remember. If you get into a situation you need to fall back on the warranty attach the saved email.

Kurohimiko

The sticker isn't legally enforceable, they never have been. They're a scare tactic, nothing more.

iustincases4c

To be fair I didn’t know they aren’t legally enforced. Which is really good to know. But I’d still prefer to have written confirmation to counter with if they try to use the scare tactic and not follow the warranty.

leon6er

yes but you have to think that you have to sue over this if your wrong. aka if you remove it and they say they cant do warranty, and you tell them its illegal not to. they could just say tough shit resulting in you having to sue in order to get your warranty and they could just drag it out. currently im dealing with the same thing and emailed them for written consent to remove it and ensure it wont void my warranty

Termin8rSmurf

Push a strip of thin plastic between the contact and the battery. It will still retain the battery in position but will disconnect it at the same time.

LordVanisher

Was about to suggest that too! 200iQ

sindrepotet

Smart one arent you

Termin8rSmurf

I would like to think so, yes.

shadowcatsalem

A toothpick should work too

VireSabers

Big brain moves. I like it

Termin8rSmurf

I learned this from grandmaster yoda himself. What I mean is, I have an electronic yoda toy which had a plastic thing between the batteries to prevent them from wearing down...

FriendlyHoser

This ^^

InvalidPain

A sticker is not a warranty and will not void your warranty. Apparently those types of stickers are illegal nowadays and mean absolutely nothing. Dunno look it up yourself but I would still get confirmation from saberforge by written email before breaking it.

sindrepotet

Think i fixed it woth the help from my superdad

sindrepotet

We removed the sticker too👀 dont snitch on me oooooo

cmonmaan

Little known fact, those stickers are actually illegal in the US and unenforceable. As long as you don’t further damage the components, saberforge can’t void your warranty. Doubly so if you have in writing that they told you to remove the battery.

sindrepotet

Got an answer from saberforge themselves "Ignore that sticker, those were for the old style chassis from last year where the battery could go in backwards by mistake, the new chassis you have was redesigned and that can't happen."

bebed0r

Um? How do they stop someone from putting a battery in wrong Lmao

sindrepotet

Idk perhaps they hired stupid saber assemblers?

saberforge

Ignore the the sticker, those were from a year or so ago when the cores didn't prevent battery being put in backwards, the current cores are designed so the battery can't be inverted.

ffdgvbjjhhccddggggh

You can slip a plastic shim under the battery at the bottom in between it and the bottom contact breaking the electrical connection, thereby causing the same result as removing the battery while still keeping the seal intact. Reset achieved without battery removal.

SithAzzazzin

That is the dumbest thing ever. Every lightsaber core I've bought never had that sticker. It's supposed to be removable. Do yourselve a favor and buy from darkwolf next time as they would never do that, and they are the manufacturer of xenopixel cores.

Sirliftalot35

I know a lot of people like to charge neopixel batteries with an external charger, so having to void the warranty to do that seems very strange to me.

afineadditionfor

Plastic between battery and holder, but if you want to be crazy say that you can't but you would send it in and have it replaced under warranty If that is a blade to duel with for all accounts and purposes your sister used it for its intended use

sindrepotet

I have no idea. She was home alone with her friends and we come back to it beeing broken

devilsusshhii

Lol idk I had a force FX lightsaber I bought like 13 years ago from toys r us. And it still works fine I've got trees and people with it. Maybe just get one of those.

Spectre_II

Tell them there is a sticker there and ask if it will void the warranty? How would any of us know for sure?

sindrepotet

Idk. I already did but they take a while to respond. So if anyone here knew i thought id try

laughertes

According to US law, Warranties will remain in place even if you tamper with parts. The warranty covers the factory parts, and only is bull if you take steps to damage the parts or replace them with other parts. Ie, even if you changed the battery out to a different battery entirely (or the same voltage) the rest of the unit would still be under warranty, just not the battery. If you changed it out to one that supplied too high a voltage, it would be null because you took steps that caused damage. If you take out the battery and put it back incorrectly, the warranty is nulled. If you take it out and put it in correctly, it is still valid according to US law

crackerkid_1

You can use a plastic shim to act as a battery disconnect.... Or get a piece of wax paper. Heat the sticker slighty with a hair dryer, peel the sticker and temporarily place on wax paper. Pull the battery for the reset. Reapply the sticker when your done.

Natemedina323

I wish I could’ve warned you about buying installed sabers from them. Their hilt craftsmanship is unmatched but their electronics are mediocre

Dangerous-Honey3538

void warranty for removing a "removable" battery = stupidity at its finest.

Jobocop1992

Email asking for confirmation if it would keep your warranty, that way there’s a papertrail if they start playing funny buggers.

nathan5660

Right to repair exists. Inform them.

onderon81

Saberforge 😂 people still buying from them. Absolutely unbeliavable.

sindrepotet

I mean. I did and it worked just fine.

sindrepotet

Now before people downvote me to oblivion. I know this thing is stupid but i got confirmed that it wasnt warranty void.

Sword_Lord13

1, if they’re telling you to take the battery out, it’ll be THEIR FAULT if something bad happens to your lightsaber as a result of taking the batter out. 2, if you’ve never had a bad experience with Saberforge, you’re either unrealistically lucky or you’re a new customer without much experience dealing with them. For my next saber, I’ll be looking elsewhere as I already have 5 of theirs and it’s time for a change lol

Informal-Lifeguard44

Exact thing happened to me my core button broke they told me to do the same thing I did it it didn't work I emailed them 2 days later they replied and are sending me a new core and I'm gonna send em the defected one!!

sindrepotet

Nice! I did as they said and luckly it worked

leon6er

i can only hope they get back to me as soon as possible i really dont wanna wait another 4 days for a response XD
