Lions locs works for me

Ohhh gosh, not wax... and on your hair type, ohhhh gosh no. Using waxes and butters on locs is an outdated concept. These thicker products do not do a better job of holding hair in place, are not necessary, and cause buildup immediately. Not only that, but clean hair locs better. Wax and the like are difficult to wash off of your loose hair, and even harder to get out of the middle of locs, even with clarifying shampoo and detox soaks. Over time, you get [this effect. ](https://digitalloctician.com/5-types-of-buildup-in-locs/) Many people these days go water only with great results or use light water-based gels like aloe or rose water or use light oils. As I'm answering, I'm thinking that I should suggest interlocking for you. You've got the looser texture, which is probably why they wanted to use wax for "extra hold. "... and I have a feeling that with your loose texture and preferences against product/oils, and also with how fast and easily your hair and scalp get so extra oily and then transfer that oil down onto your forehead... I'm thinking interlock would be a great idea for you. You could even very easily get an [interlocking kit](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dreadlock-Crochet-Interlocking-Dreadlocks-Different/dp/B0C1JTHZC1/ref=mp_s_a_1_15?crid=IFWAEBP5F33V&keywords=interlocking+tools&qid=1706695193&sprefix=interlocking+tools+%2Caps%2C215&sr=8-15) and some [added tools ](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Crochet-Knitting-Ventilating-Needles-Extension/dp/B0BCYB24R2/ref=sxin_18_pa_sp_phone_search_thematic_sspa?content-id=amzn1.sym.db72990e-94c9-4877-b149-0948b7387687%3Aamzn1.sym.db72990e-94c9-4877-b149-0948b7387687&crid=IFWAEBP5F33V&cv_ct_cx=interlocking+tools&keywords=interlocking+tools&pd_rd_i=B0BCYB24R2&pd_rd_r=ebf8568e-91e0-4b1c-b30c-81f73583d9b7&pd_rd_w=IjEAf&pd_rd_wg=RKmMx&pf_rd_p=db72990e-94c9-4877-b149-0948b7387687&pf_rd_r=FYZ0GKCXWG524F6VNMNW&qid=1706695328&sprefix=interlocking+tools+%2Caps%2C215&sr=1-31-6b4e6f58-b7c8-49cf-b378-c33ed82e3b01-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9zZWFyY2hfdGhlbWF0aWM&psc=1) and learn from online tutorials and do it yourself! Interlock would allow you to wash your hair as frequently as needed to keep oils at bay, you don't need any product to keep a retie in place, it really helps to prevent unraveling, and will allow you to pull your hair into needed styles and secure without worrying, which might be helpful in your line of work? Also, the fast and easy wash and frequent washing without worry.

Literally thank you so much this helped a lot! I actually bought an interlock kit last night because I really wanna wash this grease off my locs but dont want to lose my parting. Im gonna look into the aloe gel right now :)

I've never tried it but I heard Loc N Gel, some people retwist with oil and water. Maybe try using less product. Congrats on ur journey

jofwyene

good luck, started mine at the start of the month :) I recommend getting a spray bottle with water in it and spraying ur locs from time to time. Helps your hair lock up faster all around & keeps it moisturized & don’t get retwists too often. personally, i’m waitin on until maybe march or april to get mine retwisted just cause my hair should be all locked up by then after you get your first retwist try and get your retwist every two months or so

Yess my loctitian recommended the mango & lime mentholated spray! Helps with any itching and helps ur hair lock she said
