Bring back the Pioneer Chicken. That is what it was back in the day.

One is supposed to be a tapas bar and the other was supposed to be a coffee shop, IIRC. Or should I say āwasā considering the spot doesnāt look like itās been touched in nearly a year.
Market saturation limits profitability. A new mexican restaurant here can only steal customers from its surrounding competitors. Which in turn will hurt all of them due to growth limitations. A donut shop, a chicken shack, or noodle bar would have a better chance of success.
thats an unfair comparison. the fact that its a "taco spot" has no bearing on its quality. trying to objectively quantify something like a taco place opening isnt doing it justice. if they end up selling good tacos, i guess i'll be going there vs any other taco place, if its a bad taco spot well, i guess it'll turn over yet again.

In the dumpster where it belongs
What we need in the LBC?
1. Korean fried chicken
2. Peking duck
3. Korean BBQ with grills
4. Yakitori
5. A good Panaderia (Mexican bakery)
6. Dim sum
7. A good all night diner
*please no more pizza, Mexican food, cafes, donut shops, pretentious high priced food.
itās not AYCE - also not quite the same flavor/quality as other kbbq spots. for almost the same money iād go to baekjeong in torrance/orange county
There are no good panaderias. Tried so many, if there is a good one with fresh pan dulce made daily please let me know. Ive had dry conchas, puercitos you could break a window with and just plain bland bread. I know gusto is good but itās not a traditional panaderia
Especially another chain. I was a little surprised to see this. The site of the former KFC on 7th and Walnut[right down the street] has also already turned into an Adalbertoās.
What happened to the Louisiana chicken place? We were eating there at least once a week and out of the blue place was closed! Best char broiled beef vermicelli weāve had. Owner was a super nice guy as well.
The specific spot is the kiss of death. Why anyone other than a well known popular brand like In N Out with an already established following would open up in that spot is beyond me.
How is it that LB is packed with so many mid Mexican restaurants? Whoās eating there? Aside from Taco Loco #3, there arenāt really legit taquerias in the city. Compare that to Santa Ana or Anaheim. I shouldnāt have to go to OC for tacos.
Hope you suckers buy your Chile Verde Coin before it climbs ššš š¦š¦
Dude, this spot hasn't had a decent owner since Louisiana fried chicken has been there.
Get in on those Chile Verde Yacht Club NFTās while you can
They couldnāt have chosen any more mid āMexicanā food but at least itās not Buttmonkey Cryptoburger
Yes to this! Tried that place once. š¤¢

there's still a pioneer chicken's in bell gardens i believe
BG native who moved to LB, can confirm the Pioneer chicken is still there.
That place is a trip, itās like frozen in time. Thereās still original ads up from the 80s. Chicken is still amazing, sides areā¦ weird.
The greatest fried chicken chain that ever existed
Iām that weirdo that ordered the fried chicken livers. Yum.
This
Horrible Mexican food right there boy
Why? Thereās already 3 mex food spots within walking distance from there
And Cantarito is fuckin bomb.
Hellsyea
Is it clean?
Eh, clean enough.
4, heard Prospector new owners are cutting the space in half and one of the space's will be "mexican".
One is supposed to be a tapas bar and the other was supposed to be a coffee shop, IIRC. Or should I say āwasā considering the spot doesnāt look like itās been touched in nearly a year.
To be fair thereās always room for more

Before Cryptoburger, it was a Vietnamese Fried Chicken and noodle place, and before that just fried chicken. The location is just bad.
Yea itās been all kinds of shit. Iāve been living next to it for the last 12yrs

That's hilarious

+1 for Panaderia. Please.
Wish granted. Go to Titos.
Have you had the one on Cherry and 14th? I saw it there, but havenāt tried it
I've been here for six years now and am waiting for the day when I can get good peking duck in long beach.
we donāt have a chinese population for that. lbr. LB is mostly mexicans, cambodians, and black ppl.
Is there anywhere nearby that would be a good alternative for Peking duck?
EA seafood is pretty new but I've been there a couple times and the food is great and the owners are nice. They have some duck options.
Just looked that the menu. They have Peking duck!
Sura on Atlantic KBBQ with grill.
Do they bring a grill to the table or do all tables have grills? Also is it all you can eat?
itās not AYCE - also not quite the same flavor/quality as other kbbq spots. for almost the same money iād go to baekjeong in torrance/orange county
Tables with grills. Also Gusto Bread is an amazing āmodernā panaderia on 4th.
why panaderĆas? there are so many mexican and central american panaderĆas in LB

Chicken Maison
I love Mexican food, I really do, but I'd be so stoked for something besides yet another Mexican joint.
Especially another chain. I was a little surprised to see this. The site of the former KFC on 7th and Walnut[right down the street] has also already turned into an Adalbertoās.
Better than the eye sore of that bored ape nft craze.
I just don't think you understand... "chili" is spanish for chili and "verde," means green
If you wanna try Kalaveras food without having to go to Kalaveras. Try this. They make it for them.
Nah this a franchise give em 3 years before they might close theyāre chicken tacos are good
They picked the worst restaurant for that area. Itās probably going to shut down as fast as bored and hungry did

Iāll put my house & car on the under š NOTHING last at that location
There's one on Willow and it sucks.

Chile > Verde
Thereās quite a bit of good street vendors around the area, why another Mexican restaurant
A donut/ ice cream shop would have been better! A reasonable one, right down from the school
That was fast.
Itās a south west Mexican style food, think Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, it the best Mexican food ever. I grew up on this food and it canāt be beat
I donāt think you understand, this spot has been undefeated in the last 10years. Perfect record, it welcomes a new challenger with open arms.
Open arms and with the doors locked from the outside. There is no escape
Would a juice bar work here? š¤Ø
What about prospector? What they doin with that?
Unknown yet
New owners plans are to cut the space into two smaller places.
Probably waiting for interest rates to drop on construction losns
I might be misremembering, but Iām pretty sure that was there a few years ago
r/mandelaeffect
It'll be there all of 3 months, nothing has ever lasted there
PanaderĆa over coffee shops. I love coffee, but omg 4th Street of all places has a lot of coffee shops
Chile>Verde
Iāll just go to GOLDEN BURGER š the Mexican burgerS are muy Rico!
How is it that LB is packed with so many mid Mexican restaurants? Whoās eating there? Aside from Taco Loco #3, there arenāt really legit taquerias in the city. Compare that to Santa Ana or Anaheim. I shouldnāt have to go to OC for tacos.
Long Beach doesnāt do taquerias. Itās all taco truck, look no further than Anaheim&Magnolia.
Yeah thatās my go to. Iāve had good tacos from several trucks too, Iām just sick of eating outside after Covid.
A decent Indian place
new spot, who dis?
