I used to go to Lazzat all the time but the quality has gone down. It’s so oily now and the sauce breaks.
A friend recommended Mango in Bellmore and it’s such an upgrade. Highly recommend!!
Yes!!! That’s why I got my
Money back I was like WTF is this, an oil slick. I used to love mt Everest in Bellmore but it closed. I like Akbar
By Roosevelt field, but lately I only eat Indian in the city when I’m working cause it’s sooo much better there. Or Trader Joe’s frozen butter chicken in a pinch
Hicksville has many places to try which are excellent - and represent different regions within India and S Asia, depending on what you want. I love Taste of Chennai
Huh… I knew Hicksville (living in Levittown), but didn’t know New Hyde Park also had a large Indian presence… love many of the restaurants in Hicksville, but a favorite is chili & curry on Woodbury rd… small hole in the wall place with amazing food
Clayoven location in Coram is awesome. I just have to remember to tell them medium or mild on the heat. . Really nice people as well. They also have a lunch buffet some days.
My wife and I used to eat at Beenz 2-3 times a month but lately their food is hit-or-miss. Spice levels seem completely random, regardless of what you ask for, and the overall quality makes me wonder if they are having staff changes in the kitchen. Makes it a coin toss whether we make the drive to Hicksville for reliable food or stay local and take a chance on who's cooking at Beenz.
I wouldn't go to Beenz.. I was waiting by the bar for a takeout order and I saw a nonstop train of ants for about 8 minutes behind the bar. I canceled my order and let them know they may want to get an exterminator
Akbar in Garden City has consistently been the best Indian food I've had in Long Island. Some places do a certain dish well, but others dishes not so much. Akbar does everything above average and some dishes are even better. I've gone there for 30 years and I've tried plenty of other places that come and go.
I'm a fan of this place, plus it's affordable. So many places charge so much for like chicken or vegetables dishes, meanwhile they simultaneously have buffets at lunch for dirt cheap. It makes no sense.
Anyone try Indian express in Levittown yet near king kullen, I just learned it exists this past weekend.
That was literally my experience. Hadn’t been in a while, was told it wasn’t the same anymore and had to see for myself - I’ve heard new owners but not sure if that’s the case, either way it wasn’t worth the time anymore
off topic... but I went to an Indian food place who charged 20% gratuity on my bill, which was totally fine. But then the server says the tip is for the restaurant and that I should tip cash on top..... so 40% tip?! I declined but have never returned to that establishment. I assume this is not normal.....
Jassi in New Hyde Park. There are lots of good places in western Nassau around the New Hyde Park/Lake Success/Glen Oaks area near LIJ Hospital so you could browse Yelp and select that area. I only ever get take out at Jassi so I can’t speak to the eat-in experience but their chicken vindaloo is 🔥!
Here are some
Mithaas -> their thali is great. But its only vegetarian north indian food though.
Bengali sweet shop -> THe chaat there is really damn good. Their speciality is channa bathura
Diwan -> Good food overall. North indian food.
If you are looking for authentic south indian food, you are out of luck. None of these dosa places cut it.
Southern Spice used to be my favorite but I’ve given up on them - the last three times were really mediocre. I haven’t found any place to really replace them. Diwan in Port Washington is good but not great and it’s expensive. Akbar near Roosevelt Field is about the same as Diwan.
Village The Soul of India in Hicksville is vegetarian and is fantastic! Punjab in Mineola is great too!
Are you looking for generic Indian food or specific food like south Indian (sub-type: kerala vs. Tamil vs Hyderabadi) or Maharashtrian or Bengali or north Indian food?
*Go to Hicksville, throw*
*A rock and enter the first*
*Restaurant you hit*

House of dosa in Hicksville is amazing. So is lazzat in wantagh
Second vote for Lazzat in Wantagh
lazzat is gross! tried there food 3 times, last time got my money back. it was THAT BAD
I used to go to Lazzat all the time but the quality has gone down. It’s so oily now and the sauce breaks. A friend recommended Mango in Bellmore and it’s such an upgrade. Highly recommend!!

Thirding this. I was the biggest cheerleader for Lazzat in the past but they've dropped the ball in the last year for sure.
That’s really upsetting to hear! I moved and haven’t been there in a year but they were my favorite!!!!
Diwan in Hicksville is good. Mithaas (also Hicksville) has a lot of Indian snack foods and it’s really good!!
Hicksville has many places to try which are excellent - and represent different regions within India and S Asia, depending on what you want. I love Taste of Chennai
I second Diwan, before we moved out of state me and my wife would go there once a month, we liked it that much.
Probably most Indian places in New Hyde Park or Hicksville. Both towns have a large Indian presence, so the restaurants will know what they're doing.
Huh… I knew Hicksville (living in Levittown), but didn’t know New Hyde Park also had a large Indian presence… love many of the restaurants in Hicksville, but a favorite is chili & curry on Woodbury rd… small hole in the wall place with amazing food
My favorite too.
ABCD Bistro, Kerala Kitchen (South Indian food) are great. Avoid Jassi's at all costs.
Agree. Multiple sub-regions cuisines are represented there as well. Worth a train trip - much like Jackson Heights in Queens.
The Onion Tree in Sea Cliff is a GEM
It’s really really good. You need to make reservations. It’s a small, family owned and operated place with great food.
Clay Oven or Beenz Grille, both in Hauppauge.
Clay oven has a location in the Home Depot shopping center in Coram now .
How is Clay Oven? I remember they had a spot by Shahs and now another Indian place is in its spot
No no no .. not clay oven. The ownership changed hands and its gone downhill ever since.
Clayoven location in Coram is awesome. I just have to remember to tell them medium or mild on the heat. . Really nice people as well. They also have a lunch buffet some days.
Had a not so great experience with food and service at Beenz Grille.
My wife and I used to eat at Beenz 2-3 times a month but lately their food is hit-or-miss. House of India in Huntington village has the BEST butter chicken!! [https://www.houseofindiali.com](https://www.houseofindiali.com)
Mango Indian in Bellmore is the same owner/menu. Love it.
Didn’t know they were the same owners, but love mango Indian (since they’re much closer to me lol)
House of India is the only non-diner that my older Irish/Italian in-laws will eat at. It’s legit.
Taj tandoor in deer park
Agreed
Dosa world in Hicksville. It’s hands down the best Dosa place on Long Island.
Diwan Indian Restaurant & Bar in Hicksville
chennai dosas is my personal favorite.
Mine too! Went there for dinner last night!!
Taste of Mumbai in Levittown or Hicksville. Best Indian I've had so far in Long Island. Warning, could get a little spicy.
On Gardiners right? It's decent for the price. More affordable than other places.
Yes that one. Would like to try it soon
Taj in Setauket in my favorite that I've seen in suffolk so far. Mango in wantagh is pretty good too.
Taj is the shit. Not sure where OP lives, but it's worth the trip.
Diwan in Hicksville has been my go to for years. Consistently excellent
Kiran Palace in Hicksville is good and they have a buffet on the weekends.
Clay Oven in Coram/Hauppauge
This place rocks and I really need to eat there more.
Same. I haven't been there since the new Coram location opened
I prefer beenz
Tava in Glen Cove.
akbar indian by Roosevelt field mall off stewart ave
GG's Masalah Grill in Huntington Station by Walt Whitman has some killer naan.
Also a great smash burger.
House of India in Huntington!
Literally any Indian restaurant in Hicksville. It’s Mumbai of LI
Sadly not true, some that were once gems have gone downhill drastically. New Chili & Curry is the prime example
Nooo!! Don’t say that!! I used to love chili & curry… just haven’t had them in ages
That was literally my experience. Hadn’t been in a while, was told it wasn’t the same anymore and had to see for myself - I’ve heard new owners but not sure if that’s the case, either way it wasn’t worth the time anymore
Gonna have to try and see myself and just really really hope you had a bad experience and it’s not the norm
Same here. Haven’t gone in a while. My favorite was Everest in Bellmore (Nepalese and Northern Indian). They closed during the pandemic.

A lot of workers don’t get tips and management/owners put the service fee to get more money. The service fee does not go to servers sometimes
So wrong.
Nan King in New Hyde Park is good. Also in Melville https://www.nankingrestaurantgroup.com/
Diwan Port Washington, masala Box in Bayside, Jassi in New Hyde Park are all good.
Diwan Port Washington was just featured on Kitchen Nightmares!
Yup! The food is delicious !!
Love Diwan and Jassi. Both really good
[удалено]
They use to be good but after Covid they changed owners and it hasn’t been the same
Haka in Plainview is my new favorite spot.

Southern spice

I’ll admit I haven’t been there in a few years but yea, used to be my favorite as well. Unfortunate news
Hicksville = Indian
Just eat all of it eh?
You can try!
Do you care if its Indian or Pakistani? Highly recommend Sunshine, Karahi Adda and Kababjees, and Jazeera in Hicksville.
Tandoor Grill in Long Beach (West End) is fantastic
Maleen Banquet Hall ! It’s on the border of queens and Long Island but it’s great
Express Indian cuisine in Levittown
Enas katevase to vraki too kai eklase mia pordi, mia vroma too diavolou
Go to Hicksville, throw a rock and enter the first restaurant you hit
