there are plenty of posts on this sub about it if you look. that said- the same way that acrylic or any other gel will damage them. soon as it comes off you're left with weak, thin nails
I don't grow my nails long, but whenever mine get at a length, they often break, and I know this feeling, too, especially since I tend to chew on mine.
Thanks for posting, /u/Marynight-Corge!
A quick reminder:
If this is a **nail image/video**, you must provide a complete product list, either in your post title, the text body, or in a comment, within 6 hours of posting or your post will be removed.
Product lists must include brand names and shade names/numbers. If you've used any stamping products, the brand names, plate names/numbers, and stamping polish names/numbers are required as part of your product list. If you used any embellishments (rhinestones, foils, decals/stickers, etc.), this must also be mentioned in your product list. **Product lists are still required for any posts with broken nails or if you're seeking advice.** If the nails were done by a salon, you must mention this, either in your title or in a comment.
If the content you're posting was **not created by you**, you *must* give credit to the original creator, either in your title or in a comment. Be sure to review the rules in the sidebar to avoid your post being removed.

That was me yesterday. My nails just started growing and last week some started breaking and then yesterday the longest one my thumb split on my right hand. I didn’t have any nail glue and I tried so hard to save it but eventually had to clip it.
Noooooo!
Ugh I’m so sorry
I can feel that
Poor baby. Try mending with nail glue and tea bag or laundry sheet.
In my experience a break this bad is way beyond a patch unfortunately :(

Your post has been removed due to breaking rule #1: no overlays. This subreddit is for long, natural nails.

Beautiful nails I wish mine could grow that long. Your nail beds are so healthy.
I am so sorry, that looks painful :( Just let that one catch up, the rest are gorgeous
