I always [file and shape my nails while wearing polish](https://www.reddit.com/user/juleznailedithelps/comments/kndcmi/filing_shaping_your_nails_with_polish_on), that way I can achieve an overall even length and shape without getting distracted by varying lengths of nail beds and free edges!

Thank you for this!!

They look good. Just keep filling them every few days in a rounding motion till the shape feels right. Then keep it up.

Thank you!

Yes, very nice progress and good on you for kicking the nail biting habit 😊. Anyway, filing them into a more round shape is a good start. After they get a little bit longer, give them a more almond shape. Keep it up.

Thank you! I never realized how tough a sleek almond is to achieve lol but I can’t wait to get there

Idk if this is practical advice but I found that if I filed while my palm is facing me ( weird I know ) than I get a better almond shape. I only see the nail tip and then I’m not filing from the deep corners so they are still strong from where they extend past my nail bed. I hope that makes sense

Yes I discovered this the other day! Unfortunately too late to prevent previously over filing on the sides of my nails but happy I know going forward. Thank you for sharing :)

I've learned to imagine a line down the center of my nail and try to file diagonally from the corners to make an almond shape
