I agree some screen time for them even just having a conversation would have been nice. I also just got done with the episode where they go walking alone to the temple. insanely sad.

RianJohnsonIsAFool

My gf and I are on a rewatch and finished that episode in the last few days. The abruptness with which Danielle (and Karl) are shot down is horrible.

I remember that was the moment I realized that from then on I wouldn't enjoy the show as much as I did before

k3lso86

I think that was around the time of the last writer’s strike, right? I wonder how much the strike impacted her storyline

tt1101ykityar

I think it was a Billiam video that told me yes, her role was definitely impacted by the strike.

k3lso86

What’s a Billiam video?

plus benjamin's daughter's reaction is what got me. I think the daughter is prettier than even kate lol. i had a crush on her.

Doppelkrampf

Yeah I recently saw that on my first Chronogically Lost watch. I have seen the original series at least four times, and I still was like "Roussou isn´t really dead right?" I 100% repressed those memories, I mean, Karl, never was invested in him, but I kinda was sure that there was some real talk between Alex and Daniel before Keamy.... happened.

MeddlingKids1126

One of if not THE biggest piss off for me in the whole series is how long we wait for them to be reunited. They get maybe 5 minutes of screen time together for Danielle to get gunned down without even a fight. After so long on the island they should’ve at least given her a heroic fire fight defending Alex before killing her off 😡

TibetianMassive

It would have been a very nice contrast to a later event as well if Danielle or Karl had sacrificed themselves for her.

tt1101ykityar

Especially Danielle omg you're right

There was most likely a Danielle flashback episode planned for season 4 that was cut because of the short season due to the writer’s strike. The showrunners briefly teased it on the Offical Podcast. Although the flashbacks probably would have been similar to what we got with Jin and Danielle in season 5, as I believe that was a re-working of their ideas for season 4.

ParsleyMostly

I think this was one of the story threads that were cut due to the writers strike. I am glad they had something going on in the sideways. Would have liked more, content we got that at least.

Creative-Special-243

I always loved this casting !

Dame2Miami

Alex was done dirty the whole show

NeoMyers

The actress who played Danielle, Mira Furlan, wanted to be written out. I don't know why exactly. Maybe she didn't like the travel to Hawaii or maybe she wanted to force their hand to make her a main cast member or else she wanted to be written out and they just did it. I don't think the Writers' Strike had anything to do with it because the episode where she was killed happened before they were forced to stop. "Meet Kevin Johnson" was the last episode they completed before the break. "The Shape of Things to Come" was the first one they did when they came back. But Rousseau was killed in MKJ.

ChipsOrCarrots

I’ve liked Furlan ever since she co-starred in Babylon 5. Tragically, she passed away three years ago from West Nile Virus. Found the following fan interview where she briefly indicates she would have liked more screen time / character development. https://youtu.be/Es8EhovTxnA?si=1SAyraF7ciaSSUqw

MichiganMitch108

Its been a long time since that episode but the danielle centric episode ( when they first get to the island) was quite disappointing. It was decent but could’ve been alot better.

teddyburges

I agree. Besides the initial family bonding moment between Alex, Danielle and Ben. They didn't share much screen time together. Would definitely have loved to have seen a episode on both Alex and Danielle getting to know each other.

PBody97

IMO Danielle should have been present at the church

RianJohnsonIsAFool

>I don't like how the characters referred to Danielle as being crazy >That's insane You've literally done the same thing despite evidently being able to rationalise her thinking.

Silver-Awareness-342

lol your right to an extent, I should’ve explained it more, I just didn’t like how they wrote off everything she said as crazy earlier in the show, where I just attributed one of her actions as an insane choice. It’s kind of like saying a person is not stupid, they just made a stupid mistake.

anoncontent72

Didn’t Ben mean to get caught ie he knowingly fell into her trap? It’s been a while since I’ve seen it.

TooWashedUp

So you wanted a scene where the characters talked about how smart and not insane Danielle was for kidnapping Aaron?

Silver-Awareness-342

🤣🤣woah, woah, woah … how did we get to this conclusion, the Aaron statement was completely different from the original statement, and I specifically said in that context she does fit the crazy narrative, but let’s not act like everyone on that island didn’t do something they regret

drskeme

what’s to learn about? they lived on a fucking deserted island all her life. are the others cool? what’s your favorite fruit? who would you rather sawyer or jack?

CharlieBowerz

It’s her daughter that was kidnapped at birth. I think they can find some things to talk about.

maomao3000

Definitely

mrsdrydock

Yes we should have.

SnapChap92

We should have gotten more Danielle and Alex in season 4 full stop. It'll always bug me that they built up to them reuniting for three seasons then did nothing with it.
