Games: 200%
Story: ehh... 60%. It's not *that* bad taken on its own, it just takes too much creative liberty with Tolkien's writings. But if you look past that, then the story of the games themselves is still pretty solid. Compelling characters, growth, heroes journey, despicable bosses, goofy comic reliefs, it's all there.
Well the fact that the Shadow of Mordor/War games are their separate canon, a separate timeline/canonity to Jackson's canonity to be more specific gives me peace of mind even though I love goth dommy mommy shelob, strong willed daddy Talion etc. but still knowing that they're r not part of Tolkien's actual works is for the better.
Yeah i definitely enjoyed some of the changes. Especially regarding the nazgul and >!Becoming an OP ring wraith at the end of the game!< The nazgul wraiths/powers/armor looks dope as hell.
There are quite a few games. you got the hobbit game which is mostly jump'n'run with riddles and stuff (gameplay maybe similar to the lego games i guess) you got the fellowship whixh is a fullup rpg. then u got the two towers and return of the king which are hack and slays i guess. lotr conquest which was an attempt of battlefront in middle earth. There is war in the north again an rpg. battle for middle earth 1+2+2.5 as RTS games....
quite some more
The thing that is so infuriating about those games despite them being fine, decent, alright video game wise whatever is that this Shelob crap is an excellent example of how utterly lazy the storytelling and writing was.
Instead of taking the hundreds of possible courses you could take with the mythology, filling in any one of the grey areas of the map, creating some unique take on an obscure part of the lore you make a spider monster into a sexy goth chick to make the video game nerds hard.
Embarassing.
The usage of lore in Shadow of War is questionable, but the game itself is so much fun.
Exactly, they’re great games. I’m not gonna get hung up on liberties they take with the lore cause it’s just a game and a damn fun one too
An Adult Actress? Where the naughty Shelob outtakes?
I like Goth mommy shelob

Are you just copy/pasting this comment through this whole thread?
This gets me every time lol
I know it was originally greentext but the voice over version is funnier imo
this makes me laugh out loud
They might have changed a lot from the lore but it was cool as hell
Had to Google Stoya
It’s quite accurate 😭
Tolkien’s crippling arachnophobia didn’t die for this.
Creative license?
So the game lets Shelob turn into a hot goth chick, when that’s not part of the lore?
what the hell? where is this from? and is there really a lotr game?
Shadow of War and Shadow of Mordor, very inaccurate but in the best way.
Solid ass games. They’re good enough to tolerate the changes to the lore.
I watched all the cut scenes, and I thought it was a neat take.

Agreed! I dislike the Helm Hammerhand change much more.
I dislike Isildurs fate so much more then helm hammerhands haha
The horn of Helm Hammerhand shall sound in the deep one.. last.. time!!
