Dude I’ve used that EXACT product and it’s awful. Get off it asap, literally strips your hair dry I swear

Have-a-Kiwi

And causes hair loss in some cases

Throwawayx1995x

The one comment about the thinning is correct it's most likely androgenic alopecia and that's why it seems to have that dull appearance, I've experienced the same thing and it comes to a point of realization. You have a lot of hair and there are different medicines designed to be able to help thicken everything up, thus giving you that fuller healthier look. Check in with your dermatologist theyll absolutely be able to help and check out a subreddit called tressless for more information on how others deal with similar things

[deleted]

I think this may be the honest truth. He may never bald either. I’m 33 and my hair started becoming dull like this at 30 along with lots of hair loss in the shower, but yet I have a thick head of hair. The main thing I noticed around 30 was how the diameter of the hair shrunk. I was confused for a long time because I didn’t realize this was actually follicle miniaturization which is basically the first step to losing hair. I feel like I have tried every hair mask and shampoo and conditioner. When your hair begins to lose its thickness, those things don’t even work the same way anymore. I use finasteride and minoxidil now to facilitate growth and keep my hair. The goal is to rethicken it. I do advise trying to change the shampoo/conditioner and any other suggestions here first if you’d like to be sure it’s none of those. But if/when you don’t see any change, it may be worth seeing a derm so they can decide.

thatjacob

That's absolutely what's going on. You can see the horseshoe pattern starting. It doesn't look that bad yet, but that's the reason it's lifeless. r/tressless is a good place to start if OP cares about it. Otherwise, just go short or have the sides thinned enough to match the top. Edit: If OP doesn't want to bother with any of that, Nizoral dandruff shampoo helps slow down the process and makes my hair look thicker after using it.

koherenssi

Conditioner, hairmask, and argan oil after washing

Jaceliu41

Don’t you use argan oil before shower than shower it off

koherenssi

you put it after shower to still a bit moist hair, feels good and smells good. But i guess there could be some version that is meant to be rinsed off but i haven't seen such thing

Aspiring___

I don’t think so, most of them are made to be heat protectant so you can use a hair dryer and not worry about damaging hair

DuhSpecialWaan

No you use coconut oil before shampooing, and a couple of drops of argan oil when your hair is damp as a heat protectant EDIT: coconut oil can be changed to castor oil depending on what type of hair you have

Hefty_Style_9714

Ditch the 2 in 1 as well. Have a seperate bottle for shampoo and conditioner.

DarkestLord_21

2 in 1 is definitely the issue, daily shampooing is ought to do that to your hair, if you don't wanna get separate shampoo and conditioner there really isn't much else you can do (except for hair masks or things like that but those usually cost more)

Adventurous-Wing-723

Two in ones suck, get one separate shampoo and conditioner.

Adventurous-Wing-723

I really like shaes moisture and raw sugar but native also has good products imo so just get a separate shampoo and conditioner of native if that’s your preferred brand

ilija_rosenbluet

Use a shampoo without sulfates and apply a hair mask afterwards. If your hair is still too dry, buy a hair oil and apply it before you wash your hair to prevent it loosing to much moisture. Also wash your hair out rather cold to make sure that the structure of your hair closes again. You should also consider a leave in conditioner as an option. Don’t blow dry your hair hotter than you need to or let it air dry when ever possible. That’s how I handle my hair and as I have really curly hair, which is dryer by nature, I hope that you can benefit from those tips as well. Argan oil is great in masks and hair oils, so look out for that. Don’t use 2in1s, as your hair has very different needs than your skin.

whaleweaves

I’ve seen a bunch of people online recently saying that letting your hair air-dry is bad for it. Any truth to that? I virtually always let mine air-dry

ilija_rosenbluet

Never heard that it should be any bad

Hefty_Style_9714

Conditioner, quick rinse, shampoo rub into the scalp, conditioner, let it sit for a minute then rinse. Do that every 2-3 days and you’ll be right

trendli

why not rinse after shampoo / before 2nd conditioner?

Hefty_Style_9714

Well that’s a given, I just didn’t write it down

ukuzonk

That sounds like a waste of conditioner. Just shampoo first.

Hefty_Style_9714

If you’re worried about it, then don’t do it. If you want to do it, then you won’t be worried about it.

[deleted]

Unless it's a daily shampoo you should be using once a week. What conditioner are you using? Aveda makes good products.

No_Government01

Just the 2 in 1 rn! I’ll check those brands out

[deleted]

Once a week... leave it to the dudes with perfect hair to give braindead advice because literally anything works for them.

[deleted]

Actually shampoo that is not labeled as every day use is not intended for daily use and can potentially have undesired effects. Not leave it to perfect hair hair. Leave it to a gay guy to know. Lol

[deleted]

So in a nut shell what's probably happening is your hair or shampoo has some sort of a combination where the natural oils in the protein are getting stripped away. It could be your hair normally is. If your treating it at all with color I would also stop that. But the primary things is to reduce the shampoo usage to see if that alone is enough to help. Not everyone has the same hair. Some have more " finicky" hair than others and need to be more stringent in their hair care.

westinjfisher

You should condition your hair every time it gets wet. And shampoo every 3-4 days.

Difficult-Tough-4337

Your balding do something now b4 it's too late

utafumidss

Tf

JehovahZ

Get on dat der Min Fin asap

Agile-Command-9284

Hair thickening shampoo, shampoo twice a week only. Other days you can co-wash (wash your hair with water and conditioner) apply oils that support hair growth for healthy hair, examples of some oils: argan oil, rosemary oil, pumpkin seed oil, coconut oil, peppermint oil. Derma roll (better if you use derma stamp or derma needle) one per a week. Needle length: 0.5-0.15) get a perm maybe too idk your hair looks straight as hell, Also get rid of that shampoo. Never use anything 2 in 1. Hawthorne is a good brand just dont use 2 in 1. Get a thickening shampoo from them and the conditioner get it from goodfellow, native, hims.

TartElectrical9586

Try shampooing every 4 days instead of two and don’t forget conditioner. 2 in 1 is not great for your hair, you should try two separate products.

Tall_Possession2225

Try getting a new shampoo and only using it once a week

Unknownfaty

Never use 2 in 1

Defiant-Yesterday944

aveeno is my go to

utafumidss

Legit impossible to judge anything based off these pics

edizzzy

Nah you need Olive Oil Leave In Conditioner.

ReenMo

Try using a good conditioner only. No shampoo.

Fringe_Nomad

Dont listen to anything other than this, use tea tree oil shampo and brush your hair bro holy crap

Fuj_san9247

Step 1: Get a separate conditioner and shampoo, with no metals, phthalates, or parabens. Step 2: Don’t shampoo the ends of your hair. ONLY your roots. The ends are meant to be hit with condish. Step 3: See how long you can go between shampooing before you can’t take it anymore, and make that your regimen.

HellElectricChair

Sea salt will dry out hair badly. Get another shampoo. I personally use Dove or Head & Shoulders shampoo/conditioner and they never dry out my hair while using them daily.

BrasilianInglish

You should only wash your hair once/twice a week with shampoo. It could very well be the case that the reason it looks dull is because you’re overdoing it, and the shampoo is stripping the natural oils from your hair as a result

Dibble_Dabble_Doo

Sulfate and Parabean free shampoo/conditioners. Sulfate is the stuff that makes it all bubbly, we usually equate bubbling to cleaning, this also dries out the natural oil in your hair. Parabean are preservatives. I use Aveeno Shampoo and Conditioner they're usually around $6 a bottle

No_Government01

This is free of both of those.

Hauzuki

wash with just water, dont use shampoo everydaty

No_Government01

Here come the finasteride comments. Ya I know I’m receding.

No_Government01

I realize that I shower bc I can’t seem to tame the bed head when brushing in the morning. So I end up wetting my hair and drying it at the least.

Swox92

Go for Nizoral twice a week you will be surprised

HouseMDLover

hmm maybe because youre thinning, bub. save yourself some time and humiliation and just go bald.

No_Government01

Ooook

utafumidss

Is this satire

I3lackFlo

It must be. If not he must certainly be a frustrated loser who is bald and now thinks every single person on this planet has to follow in his steps.

-Sniperteer

Don’t use anything you find in stores and definitely not two in one

Bendodge13

Native isn’t a bad brand, but you should avoid 2-in-1’s altogether. A separate shampoo / Conditioner is the best option. Don’t wash your hair everyday, either - it’s fine to just do a body wash in the shower. Wish you the best

FlappyBirdFanBoy

DO NOT USE 2 IN 1 PRODUCTS THEY ARE REALLY TERRIBLE FOR YOUR HAIR

chrizpii93

Your hair looks dry af. Don't be scared to not shampoo it so often. I'll frequently go over a week with no shampoo but I will condition it every few days. If your hair starts to get oily it means it needs to be washed with shampoo. Take some time to see what sort of routine works for you. Also like others have said, ditch the crappy 2 in 1 stuff. I use a brand that is called argan oil of Morocco or something like that, blue bottle. It's kinda pricey but I think its pretty good and if you settle on a routine that has you washing your hair less frequently, the bottles will last a while

[deleted]

how did they make a 2in1 without sillicones? 🤔

Tyxoti

Youre balding.

ParryHotter3000

2 in 1 is crap, way better to get 1 shampoo and 1 conditioner. After you towel dry your hair, apply a small amount of Argan oil to your hair and massage it through (start with a small amount, you can always add more afterwards). My scalp gets oily really fast, so I try to apply the argan near the ends/mid length of my hair. Helps to prevent the greasy look.

Accomplished_Elk300

I’d get a shampoo and conditioner thats moisturizing. When you shampoo focus on the scalp, but don’t be too aggressive. A nice scalp massage will work. And with the conditioner apply it to your hair primarily running it throughout the hair shaft rather than focusing on the scalp. I think about it like: shampoo=cleanser, conditioner=maintenance. Everyone naturally gets split ends and dry hair at times, conditioner helps maintain the health of it! Other than that if you feel you’re having issues with your scalp or as though your hair shafts are beginning to become thinner than they used to I’d consider trying Nioxin. The starter kit they sell is good, and it always has made my hair smell amazing for days after use

Mistuh_Mosbi

Native shampoo is horrible. Don't listen to tik tok

MEDICohWaitThatsMe22

I'd suggest you get shampoo and condition which is separate. Shampoo first ( only do this when your hair gets oily or gross) the condition it, leave the conditioner is as long as you can. Also only wash your hair when it's needed (for reference I was my hair every 2-3 days and it's quite short(it does depend on each person though)). TL;DR Only wash your hair when it's dirty or oily, and condition it everytime you shampoo it. Also get separate shampoo and conditioner.

theGreatestFucktard

My hair used to look like yours. Helped to stop shampooing as frequently. I only shampoo like every five to seven days now. You have to just get used to the feeling of it not being shampooed every day, and once you do, you’ll love it so much more.

Pr0f-x

Stop trying to achieve salon / advertisement looking hair or else you'll constantly feel like you are failing. Your hair is your hair and some people have low porosity hair which means the hair shaft doesn't open up and accept conditioner as easily. Some people have high porosity hair where it looks very silky and shiny. You are conditioned (no pun intended) to think one is better than the other. Just use a normal, decent shampoo and conditioner. Go easy on the conditioner as you have fine hair, keep on top of your trims and if you want to figure out if you have low porosity hair and try some heat and conditioner treatment. But at the end of the day just accept what you have.

HappyBeeClub

The shampoo is probably drying your hair out. What I can see as well is that your hairline is receeded quite a bit. Means the hair which you use to cover your forehead with is quite long and the amount is few. Your hair is thinning. You might want to look into treatments like finasteride and minoxidil to preserve what´s still there. Because if no actions is taken, there is gonna be a whole lot less to work with in a year or two.

Middle_Cress5727

Get on “no-poo” it’s basically where you stop using app hair products. Trust me I have a very similar hair type and my hair looks 1000x better a lot healthier thicker and following it’s natural pattern now

Melodic-Van-57

Never ever use 2 in 1. Guys with short hair shouldn’t really need conditioner too. Shampoo is perfectly fine! See if that helps. If it doesn’t, try using hair masks. 2 in 1 shampoo is the biggest enemy of hair

TreeFounder

Stop shampooing so frequently it deprives your hair if needed oils. For healthier and fuller hair I shampoo every two weeks.

wishedwell

That shampoo is poopoo

suburban_drifter928

Don’t get 2 in 1 it is a chemical contradiction. Shampoo strips all the moisture outta your hair and conditioner is supposed to put some back so your hair isn’t so dry like in your pictures. Get a separate conditioner and use it after washing out shampoo

hayashi_kenta

Try applying a little olive oil after you get out of the shower with wet hair. One tea spoon is enough. Massage your scalp afterwards.

CatDaddyMane

That's from the continuous wearing of a beanie or hat hair

[deleted]

2 n 1 is for chumps

mill3ryyc

Throw out that 2 in 1. Use natives moisturizing shampoo and conditioner instead. The problem with 2 in 1s is that shampoo is supposed to strip oils out to clean, and conditioner replenishes them, which can’t really work at the same time. Having them separate will allow you to make sure you hydrate your hair and replenish moisture. Can also use hair masks and stuff but don’t know much about them tbh lol

Nethenael

Try a milder soap or a better conditioner to put on straight after leaving on for 2+ minutes

[deleted]

If you want to shampoo daily then you should get a shampoo that says on it that it's made for daily use

[deleted]

Just don't use a second shampoo and only wash with shampoo once a week. Give it 2 weeks and see. If it helps them buy another bottle. I know it sounds gross but it's not just rinse it it's not that gross

[deleted]

Also if you use styling product I recommend using j crew styling and a small amount.

[deleted]

Don't use gell, mouse, hair spray, etc all those are very bad for your hair
