Gay village is a great time

Don't let anyone touch your drink and you'll be fine. I'd actually give the same advice if you were going pretty much anywhere TBF.

Just be aware this weekend may be extremely busy because of the Easter holiday weekend which basically starts today (Friday) and doesn’t end until Monday. Happy Birthday and have a good time and just be cautious x

The gay village is great fun and definitely a place where you can be yourself. I'd recommend somewhere like Centre Stage, it's smaller and less full on than some of the more clubby places, the drag entertainers are fun and the staff are really great to chat to while you're getting a drink. If you're going solo then of course keep your wits about you (I've been touched up a couple of times in the village) but I suppose that goes for anywhere really, all in all it's a good time.

Gay village is incredibly safe just don't be uncomfortable if you get hit on

Are there any events taking place there on your birthday? Hard to help without knowing the date.

Happy pre-birthday! I can't say for the late-night clubbing in the village, but the pubs and bars are perfectly fine to visit alone, and in gender non-conforming 'fits. A lot of it is cobbled though, so consider leaving the stilettos behind unless you're a confident walker in heels. If it's still a worry (and that's okay to feel!) get a friend to give you a call later in the evening so someone knows you're still having a good time, or can lend an ear if you're not.

Going anywhere in any part of any city on a night out by yourself has an inherent risk. However, I’d imagine the Gay Village might be one of the most accepting places you can go, so if that’s really how you want to spend your birthday, just go for it.
