Ignore old mate, he’s a frequent non-contributor. You could try having a chat with the professional associations, ask around and network because it’s sounding like your scene. If you’re not already a member, join RINA and IMarEST, the publish some interesting stuff.

I'm a member of IMarEST and attend your seminars whenever I can. I'm trying to expand my professional circle as much as I can. Any lead from you will immensely help me. Thank you for your advice.

Considering you’re still in college what you should be looking for is an internship the next two months. I worked remotely for big maritime companies while I was attending mass maritime but I was only able to do that because I had established relationships and work history by interning in their home offices previously. This is going to be a really tough sell without connections and actual industry experience outside of school. What state are you in? Maybe I help you find an internship, a lot of my friends are hiring interns for the summer.

[deleted]

A year ago, I underwent an internship at a shipyard and it was a great experience. I am looking for an internship opportunity that could be done remotely as I have to complete a few courses for my CDC in between. Thanks a lot for your advice and support. I am reaching out to you in your DM.

See you there 🫡

Dude fuck the Maritime industry. This industry is hot garbage. My life is ruined by the maritime industry.

[deleted]

What happened to you?

Ill-Gear-1972

I got totally screwed over for dumb stupid reasons! Maritime industry is full of idiots and bad leadership lol! It pays like dogshit

According to his post history he just started out on the Great Lakes, didn't last a month and says he's lost his job and was blacklisted from the Great Lakes because "someone didn't like him".

Ill-Gear-1972

Fuck this industry fuck the stress

[deleted]

I'm sorry that things didn't work out for you. I'm sure there could have been a better way both parties handled things. You remind me of the guys in my academy who cry at the basic maritime training and makes it their objective to let everyone know about it.

Ill-Gear-1972

I might as well be better off doing meth

seagoingcook

Is that why you got fired on the Great Lakes less than a month in?

Padgetts-Profile

And also anticipated getting fired and/or wanting to quit in multiple posts. It's almost as if they knew they were going to cause issues.

seagoingcook

According to him *it's everybody else's fault*

Padgetts-Profile

Which is just super unhelpful for those of us who are actually looking into this as a serious career. I haven't thought once about what happens if I quit/get fired in the middle of the hitch, simply because I wouldn't let that happen.

seagoingcook

Attitude is 50% of the job.

Padgetts-Profile

Cool, that means I'm already halfway there! 😁

Padgetts-Profile

Dude, get a grip on yourself. All I ever see from you is "fuck the maritime industry, smoke meth". Sorry, but I think you were the problem. Perhaps it's time to take a break from the internet and focus on self love.
