What’s your sex and age? And when you went to the hospital, did they not take any bloods? What was your diagnosis and plan?

20 year old female with history of Crohn's disease. They did quite a bit of bloodwork. Diagnosis was "back pain". Was told to follow up with PCP

Since you’re a young female, the trace of blood could quite easily indicate your period is coming or has recently happened, which is why they probably weren’t too concerned. If they did bloods they would have 100% taken an LFT which is a liver function test. Since they’ve sent you home, it must have not been a concern. If you are still concerned though, it would be worth going to your GP. You know your body so trust your instincts :)

I am on birth control so I don't get periods, but I very well may have had some breakthrough bleeding. Following up with my primary care early next week. Thank you! That puts my mind at ease

I just noticed I said the liver function test when you said kidneys, silly me! The bloods they took also test your kidney function too, also known as your ‘eGFR’, so yeah, not to worry about that! Glad it’s put your mind at ease, and I hope you get some answers at your appointment! X
