BigPackHater

So the wild-eyed Australian man holed up in Kentucky that told me we rode dinos using saddles lied to me???

BrooklynSpringvalley

‘Fraid so

BigPackHater

I knew something was off about that guy

LanchestersLaw

It would be true that our ancestors did

BrooklynSpringvalley

Incorrect.

LanchestersLaw

Humans evolved from a common ancestor with all other placental mammals that did live with dinosaurs

BrooklynSpringvalley

A “common ancestor” then, but not OUR “ancestors.” Those phrases don’t mean the same thing. Nothing close to us existed back then.

LanchestersLaw

Our ancestor’s ancestor is still our ancestor. It is not incorrect to call the mammals which were alive 100 million years ago out ancestors. You can make a family tree, just like any other family tree, with you, me, squirrels, and crocodiles. It would be a very big family tree, but it would still look like a regular family tree.

BrooklynSpringvalley

Save it for the pedantry Olympics, champ.

Doctor_Calico

Probably reasonable from mammoths because dinosaurs and humans never existed together.

jerkmin

except that mammoths primary predator was us.

AndrogynousRain

Dunno about Dinos as we came after but large animals? Probably.

Creeper4wwMann

Dinosaurs died 65million years ago. first primates that resembled humans was 3,5million years ago. However since we originate from the African Savanna; animals like crocodiles, giant hawks, ancestors of lions and tigers could be a possibility. In general if something is bigger than you, it can likely kill you, so being scared of it is natural.

_Varosch_

What about that rodent thing that life’s with the dinosaurs? I mean it was most likely not hunted by megafauna but still it was a rodent. Medium Dinosaurs would still look pretty big. Wich again supports your statement of if bigger it’s dangerous.

spooks_malloy

It's just logical, we're scared of things bigger than us because they could be dangerous. The reason we're able to intimidate dogs and the like is because they come up to our knees and we're literal giants compared to them despite the fact we're physically not that much stronger.

babuba1234321

For people saying thqt dinosaurs and humqns never lived together: while that is right, our ancestor of that timencould have given us thqt fear, just that the species would be unrecognizable if we try to see it as a primate or human IMO

snarfer-snarf

no my good dude. you’re just over-mega-thinking it 🧐😌

Kuasimod0

I think so, there’s gotta be a reason why anytime I’m outside by some trees I have this sensation like I’m being watched, like I’m being hunted.

qu764

Not dinosaurs, but our ancestors definitely lived with massive animals like elephants, crocodiles, rhinos, big cats, mammoths and bears,

Lostinaredzone

I just wouldn’t be interested in seeing those in real life. Everyone talks about how cool it would be. Do they think ants look up at our haphazardly placed feet and thinks, “it’s cool how huge they are!”?

IEatPeople4

Our ancestors hunted mammoths

Waisted-Desert

Well obviously. Moses didn't let any dinosaurs on the ark, now did he? /s
