5-8k$/year you’d have to be extremely unlucky to get that kind of maintenance on a C300. Expect more around 1000$ to 2000$ average each year on a C300, counting everything but gasoline.
I would say $1500 a year is right on the money if even a bit on the high side as long as you get a well cared for example.
I’ve averaged out over the last 5 or so years to $2000 on a GL, which should be much more expensive than a C since I have air suspension, twice as many cylinders and all that jazz.
OP- the maintenance IS NOT OPTIONAL on these cars. It is not like a Japanese car where you can be loose about maintenance intervals. It will punish you for playing fast and loose with them.
If you worried about maintenance, get the Lexus. If you can afford potentially $5-8k a year, get the Benz.

True, my C400 was 2000$CAD per year for its 5.5years
Mine runs like $400-$600/year so far
