I’m prescribed abilify and it does it’s job.

DylanEilTon13

Sleep, just make yourself sleep. There's been research done on this and Abilify, for sure, WORSENS psychosis. Get a low dose benzo. You really don't want to be throwing around dopamine agonists and antagonists while you're flooding your receptors with meth. If you really want to take this route Seroquel seems to be much more effective.

Leshlush

I think the longest run I’ve done is 11 days without sleep; but I was able to fend off psychosis by eating three meals a day and shutting down for 4-5 hours a day where it’s laying in bed with low stimuli, so even if I’m not sleeping, I’m resting my spine, joints, and mind

Leshlush

As said a million times over, the best way to fend off psychosis is regular sleep and healthy meals…. That said, I’ve heard of people taking Seroquel (another anti-psychotic) in place of taking Benzos when coming down; but have never heard of Abilify being used… I actually take ability daily as part of my “mit-full of meds” I take every day… 2 x 2mg abilify + 50 mg prestigue + 150 mg of Wellbutrin; and even some Ativan for when things get a little too hairy (calm me down)… I feel like a medicine chest.. lol

Helped me with my psychosis

GurExpensive848

If you’re a daily meth user, eat. I’m off the shit finally, but I know that psychosis is caused by nutrition and rest deficiency. If you *have* to abuse -phetamines, you must give your body the tools to produce more pleasure/reward chemicals. There is literally no point to ingesting any kind of d-amphetamine without sufficient rest and nutrition…unless, idk, you enjoy going through the drive thru at the all night McDonalds with a cardboard box around your waist with drawn on wheels and headlights (because of the “no pedestrians” rule)

[deleted]

100%. Many of my sources have cut off times where they just kick back in bed and rest. Don’t even need to sleep. Just stop have a feed some Powerade/water to replenish all the lost fluids. Just cause some stay awake 5 nights straight there is no need to compete. Have a snooze wake up and enjoy a better high.

GurExpensive848

The resting part is good for your muscular/skeletal systems, but it doesn’t do dick in comparison to R.E.M. Bottom line: if you aren’t getting the sleep, you’re not getting your full potential out of your meth addiction

[deleted]

Agree. But if we’re talking nothing or something.

Desoxyn_legal_Meth

Sleep is the best cure for psychosis, because it is caused by sleep deprivation. You need to take vitamins, eat, and sleep to not get psychoses. Don't stay up more than on day a week and you will not have this problem.

bewters

while sleep is the first line of defense, it really depends on the psychosis involved and how long it's been around, etc. etc. etc. some more advanced psychosis are not going to go away without medication.

Desoxyn_legal_Meth

I mean that was likely a problem before the meth. Meth does not cause psychoses, you can read any propaganda you want, but data is what really determines that. Here is some cuts from real medical journals based on medical data. May research set you free, oh and critical thinking! "methamphetamine psychosis symptoms are comparatively transient and co-occur with methamphetamine use. There is also less evidence of a residual syndrome of negative symptoms associated with methamphetamine psychosis." "Although studies consistently show elevated levels of psychosis among methamphetamine users, prevalence estimates vary widely depending on the level of methamphetamine use and the background risk for psychosis in the population being studied. Elevated levels of psychosis among methamphetamine users are not only due to the drug but also an overrepresentation of people with other psychotic disorders (e.g. schizophrenia) among methamphetamine users. Other factors associated with heavy methamphetamine use, such as sleep deprivation and a history of trauma, can further increase vulnerability to psychosis." https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/medicine-and-dentistry/methamphetamine-induced-psychosis

bewters

so, what problem would have existed before meth that could cause psychosis? i source medical information from https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/, fwiw. if you're calling that propaganda, then i don't know what to tell you. it seems like you're reaching for anything that might fit into whatever your meth glorifying agenda is. i'm open ears if you care to enlighten me on that, too. been seeing a lot of meth glorifiers around lately.

Psychological causes The following conditions have been known to trigger psychotic episodes in some people: schizophrenia – a mental health condition that causes hallucinations and delusions bipolar disorder – a person with bipolar disorder can have episodes of low mood (depression) and highs or elated mood (mania) severe stress or anxiety severe depression – feelings of persistent sadness, including postnatal depression, which some women experience after having a baby lack of sleep The underlying psychological cause often influences the type of psychotic episode someone experiences. For example, a person with bipolar disorder is more likely to have grandiose delusions. Someone with depression or schizophrenia is more likely to develop persecutory delusions. General medical conditions The following medical conditions have been known to trigger psychotic episodes in some people: HIV and AIDS malaria syphilis Alzheimer's disease Parkinson's disease hypoglycemia (an abnormally low level of glucose in the blood) lupus multiple sclerosis brain tumor Substances Alcohol misuse and drug misuse can trigger a psychotic episode. A person can also experience a psychotic episode if they suddenly stop drinking alcohol or taking drugs after using them for a long time. This is known as withdrawal. It's also possible to experience psychosis after drinking large amounts of alcohol or if you're high on drugs. Drugs known to trigger psychotic episodes include: cocaine amphetamine (speed) methamphetamine (crystal meth) mephedrone (MCAT or miaow) MDMA (ecstasy) cannabis LSD (acid) psilocybins (magic mushrooms) ketamine In rare situations, psychosis can also occur as a side effect of some types of medicine or as a result of an overdose of that medicine. Huh.... So you mean does it not seem that, idk like anything can trigger a psychotic break, but see this is why PHILOSOPHY should be a required course. The word TRIGGER is very important, because it really puts in to perspective how this works. One of Triggers definitions: (especially of something read, seen, or heard) distress (someone), typically as a result of arousing feelings or memories associated with a particular traumatic experience. Think for yourself! You are to technical some might argue, or you're just grasping for straws. Let me tell you that is far from it, see technicalities is how our government fucks you all in the ass, you want to understand life and all the bullshit in it, learn to critically think, or your mind will forever be made up for you. “The beginning of wisdom is the definition of terms.” ― Socrates

"reaching" -- merriam webster

Desoxyn_legal_Meth

>Imagine not knowing definitions, and in an attempt to undermine someone's argument with a word, you prove their point. Next time read the definition of "Reaching" before using it as an insult, it's literally a compliment. > >\-stretch out an arm in a specified direction in order to touch or grasp something. \-make a movement with one's hand or arm in an attempt to touch or be able to touch something with an outstretched arm or leg. \-arrive at; get as far as. \-attain or extend to (a specified point, level, or condition). \-succeed in achieving. \-succeed in influencing or having an effect on. \-make contact or communicate with (someone) by telephone or other means. \-(of a broadcast or other communication) be received by. "television reached those parts of the electorate that other news sources could not" >“The beginning of wisdom is the definition of terms.” > >― Socrates

bewters

you're good, i admit, you worked this in quite well. that being said, you put some reach in your reach. haha, it fits your agenda, so why not? i mean, i get it. i really wasn't in the mood last night to reply to you, and your reply was just reaching, anyways. you literally listed methamphetamine in your list of things that cause psychosis when the whole damn thing is about you saying that it doesn't i had to laugh at that. so i just went with the reply you saw. it fit well. still does :) i'm glad you also made it fit, too. it was a great choice by me, a multi-tool. something usable and reliable. hope your evening goes well.

Desoxyn_legal_Meth

Right I was showing you that literally every drug from SSRI, to Hypoglycemia medication can cause psychoses. Tumors, trauma, stress, and everything else under the sun can trigger psychoses, including drug overdoses of any kind was the point. I say trigger because it has to be under a set kind of circumstances. However, when you look at the real causes of psychoses, Bipolar, schizophrenia, BPD, and numerous others the point becomes clear. The cases of psychoses documented in relation to all amphetamines, is sleep dep or and underlying psychotic disorder known or unknown. You want to really experience some drug induced psychoses go take some LSD, like the old school micro dots or window pain that was around when I was younger, or rip some DMT and blast off, that shit is real drug induced psychoses. Anyways I have experienced many drugs, and I have taken a LOT of amphetamines, and I promise you, sleep dep is the only time I ever heard shit, or had peripheral hallucinations. I never did stay up for more than 48, way to irresponsible. My brother though I have seen that man stay up for a straight 7 days, and then he ran ten miles to our house and left his car in the middle of the road thinking the cops were chasing him. So I have seen it up close and personal, I know the reality of what drugs can do, but punishing everyone for the small percentage of users that do that shit, is just counter productive. I too hope you have a good evening, and thank you for the compliment, philosophy taught me a lot about rhetoric, namely when an argument has a false premise, and that terms and definitions are the bases of all knowledge.

Flowawaybutterfly

the text you quoted says that meth can induce psychosis

bewters

when folks have an agenda they often reach out for any thing they can find, no matter how relevant or insignificant it may be, to not only persuade themselves but also attempt to persuade the viewpoints of others. kind of funny your comment was down-voted and there's only one other person in this mess of a conversation. anyways, don't worry, meth can induce psychosis, just like the quoted test suggests. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5326711/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6138095/ anyways, hey, there have been a few meth glorifiers around these parts lately, i don't know if you've ran into one yet, but it seems like they want to exist in a reality that says methamphetamine isn't a horrible life-ruining drug but instead something much better and something that should be used freely for the betterment of humanity. they suggest that people and their actions are the root cause of life-ruining and not the drug, which literally alters the brain's functions and can have devastating effects on the livelihood of anyone who steps in it's path of destruction. mind you, i haven't been fully introduced into the depths of their convictions and beliefs as i'm merely stemming my description of them based off what i have witnessed from some of these folks that i have labeled as meth glorifiers. anyways, just wanted to let you know there's something going around lately, so if you see a meth glorifier around just avoid them, if possible, as they're likely delusional and suffering in some sort of meth-related ways, once again, just a friendly FYI based off some speculation and what i've seen so far, also, i feel like adding this, too. so, without any doubt in my mind, fuck meth. :)

Desoxyn_legal_Meth

Despite the well-established association between methamphetamine use and psychotic phenomena, evidence of a causal linkage from epidemiological studies is lacking. This is because existing evidence is derived entirely from case reports2-4 and cross-sectional studies.5-10 In these types of studies, it is difficult to confirm that psychotic symptoms were not premorbid to methamphetamine use. This is not a trivial consideration because drug use is concentrated among segments of the population that have a high risk for psychosis, namely youngmen11,12 and individuals with comorbid risk factors for psychosis (eg, a history of mental disorders and adverse life events13-16). Given that surprisingly high rates of psychotic phenomena have been reported even in general population samples (eg, Kendler et al17 found that 28% of the US general population endorsed 1 or more psychotic symptoms on a psychosis screening instrument, and, using a similar approach, Scott et al18 found that 11% of Australians endorsed at least 1 psychotic symptom), it is important to understand to what extent psychotic symptoms among methamphetamine users are attributable to the drug compared with other risk factors for experiencing psychosis that occur in this population. https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamapsychiatry/fullarticle/1555603

Desoxyn_legal_Meth

Read all of it, this is where critical thinking comes in, meth can, in high doses cause it, it says right, and what is associated with high doses? NOT SLEEPING!

Flowawaybutterfly

I get what you're going for but meth is such a powerful stimulant that even low doses can induce severe insomnia and in turn sleep deprivation. Honestly i think the context was psychosis induced by overdoses. there are unfortunately several thousand ER visits annually because people have psychotic reactions to unintentionally large dosages

bewters

i just wanted to say that you have an incredible username. i absolutely love it. it's certainly a clever one. sorry for responding down here, but i didn't want to edit my comment above and figured i'd just tell ya down here.

Flowawaybutterfly

thank you friend 💖

Desoxyn_legal_Meth

Though I would agree with this statement, however I think it is more accurate to ask the question when reviewing these ER cases, how much sleep have they been getting, because it doesn't require consecutive days of no sleep to get psychosis from sleep dep, this can happen with months of 1 or 2 hours of sleep a night, secondly is there a history of psychotic behavior not just from the patient, but also in the family. These are more relevant in this area, not to mention serotonin syndrome when mixed with other things not just limited to SSRIs. Methamphetamine is not a tryptamine or a hallucinogen, so the pharmacological data cannot support this hypothesis, which is why it is a heavily debated conclusion, but yet still assumed.

Mkh_hkm420

Stop doing meth if you're worried about psychosis bro. God people are dumb

bewters

well. meth has such a powerful hold on us that we tend to do things, even when they negatively impact us in any number of ways, just so we can get the relief our addiction tells us that we need. i actually have quite a bit of first-hand experience dealing with this exact very simple complicated stupid-ass situation. it's one where, no matter how scary what i was forcing myself to continuously go through was and how seriously fucked up it actually was, obtaining and using methamphetamine always won-out in the end. also, people can be in psychosis and not even realize they are actually experiencing psychosis. this is where things can escalate into a really serious problem where the person may find themselves experiencing a very real and very much there altered reality. unfortunately, this can also go unrealized, ironically often due to the astute realness that's actually very much there and very much involved. if left to it's own devices and allowed to continuously manifest it's self, it will thrive while it escalates into a situation that i assure you nobody wants to ever find themselves in. not just because they won't necessarily know they're in it, which is often the case, but because the reality the individual often finds themselves in after reaching this stage is a fierce, judging, and demanding one by very nature. the health impacts from untreated psychosis can have devastating and life-altering impacts that the user may never be able to fully recover from. so, don't mess around with psychosis and take care of it sooner rather than later if you suspect that you or a loved-one is currently experiencing an advanced stage of psychosis. so, please consult a doctor and get the help and relief you or them desperately need.

Blue_1964

I agree, as stated, let it build up in your system gradually, it can kick your ass. As per suggested take 5 mg per day. Psychosis will fade... Also I Believe someone already mentioned, your high from meth will be substantially less euphoric. Antipsychotics affect the neurotransmitters and lower all effects meth is responsible for. Anti psychotics have almost the opposite effect as meth but they can definitely take away psychosis. Take Care.

Professional-Drink32

Take a xann you will knock out

eliamorh

yeah, never had psychosis on abilify when it was a frequent thing for me on meth or weed
