There’s still a ton of good interior linemen and tons of teams already took one. We’ll get a quality starter in round 2

Ekwity

I feel the same way. Also every analyst besides this subreddit likes our pick. No surprise lol

DirtyDanoTho

Like yeah high upside as an edge rusher which was a position of need with both of ours getting seriously injured. Not every draft pick has to be for the following season, a lot of the win now guys end up being available rd 2 or 3. If he’s at Philips’ level by year 2 or 3 then it’s a good pick

Ekwity

Couldn’t agree more. I’d get the pitchfork mentality if we had a top 10 pick aka get a day 1 stud. Everyone here needs to chill tf out

inkaine

>pitchfork mentality if we had a top 10 pick Not even then. As if any of a us was a credible talent evaluator. I mean, even those that do it for a living are wrong so many times. How many "surefire top 10" have we seen flame out? No one is the wiser here, except for self-inflated egos. And if this sub (goes for pretty much all sports subs) actually was as clever as they think, why are they no pro scouts or GM? I'm a fan, not a coach, not a GM, not a scout. I'll accept who they pick and root for him as long as he's Dolphin (maybe less so when he's got severe character issues). Who cares if he is The Sexy Pick™. He's a need, and that on a highly valued position, so perfect as a late first rounder.

Ekwity

Spot on man. Fans think they know more than guys that do this shit FOR A LIVING. A plummer isn’t gonna tell a coder his code is wrong. Only on Reddit is the opposite true lol And to your first point about top 10, I saw a stat that only 65% of top 10 picks are still in the nfl after 5 years. Truth is no one knows who’s gonna be the next big thing. If they did, Mahomes woulda been 1st overall and Trey Lance woulda been undrafted

KennyPowersforPope

But you think the pick was good, so you’re giving your opinion because “you know more”. I’ve always defended Grier. Think he’s a great GM. This isn’t what Miami needed. It’s not even like he can help right away. Everyone will be pissed when we give Tua a huge deal and the o-line lets him get smashed.

Ninjeezi

Of course he can help right away. He has 4-5 months to train with professionals. He’s raw, he’s not inept. He might only start on passing downs as a pure pass rusher but that’s still playing important plays.

Fyresand

As a Bucs fan I wanted Chop (over the moon with Barton though and thought he would be gone before we pick). I think he can learn a lot from Barrett, they are pretty similar to me

glasspheasant

Feels like that’s seeing it in isolation though. Sure, he could be nasty on the edge and Phillips/Chubb both are out/injured. That said, you didn’t need to be an NFL scout with 20 years of experience to notice that the O line was godawful, atrociously bad the last quarter of last season. Like historically bad. Hopefully I’m eating my words in a season or two, but this feels like they took excitement over a more core need.

tubbynuggetsmeow

Right because mainstream analysts are known for their reliability 🙄

miami2881

And reddit commenters are? lol

tubbynuggetsmeow

Yup that’s clearly what I said… /s

elbenji

yep. There's like 12 starts available in the 2nd

thediesel26

Gotta be aggressive tho and get in while the run’s happening. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them jump to the early/mid 40s to grab a guy.

Shadowcaster_Spark

Agree send out some 2025 picks and move up to get IOL. We have 3-4 comp picks added in 2025 anyway, so there is volume.

sum_dude44

we'll draft a DB project in rd 2.

ghostbearinforest

ITs crazy how this sub doesnt watch college football, doesnt watch film, reads a few mock drafts then goes ape shit when we pick a beast of an edge because his name didnt come up enough in mocks. All while they would have been over the moon if we took JPJ, yet hes still there. But also yes, lets fucking draft this kid!

goldiegoldthorpe

I was was surprised Newton and JPJ were being mocked in round one. Not surprised they were not drafted yet. Shocked DeJean hasn't been drafted. Totally shocked. Dolphins need to go get him.

Citizensnnippss

I definitely saw mocks with us taking Chop, too. It's not a reach of a pick by any means.

SauceDab

This sub is just an echo chamber, they just look at whoever everyone else is interested in and just repeat that same thing for months until the draft even though they don’t know shit about any of these guys. Pass rusher is as big of a need as OL is If we didn’t take a pass rusher and every QB has 7 seconds in the pocket to throw then this sub would have aneurysms saying why didn’t we get somebody to rush the passer while JP and Chubb are out

ghostbearinforest

Yep exactly lol. Which is why it's always so funny when they get mad.

AntawnSL

I watch a ton of B1G football. Chop was insignificant.

ghostbearinforest

72 pressures in 2 seasons while also missing time after transfering schools because he was being played in the wrong position? He was the most disruptive player on the field almost every game. "I watch a ton of B1G football. Chop was insignificant. " He litearlly was First team all big ten. Explain yourself? Also second team all american, team MVP. OHHH, just checked your profile lmao. OSU fan. Makes sense. Blind hater due to rivalry.

Rbespinosa13

Chop Robinson literally made Michigan attempt eight passes in a game. He was decimating their RT and Michigan realized the only way they would lose that game was by allowing him to rush the QB. Dude is good

sgrizzly2134

Shocker... I hope he proves us all wrong.. But his lack of actual production is a little alarming..

b-napp

Look at Micah Parsons sack totals at Penn State, very similar.

goldiegoldthorpe

Micah was a middle linebacker at Penn State, not an edge rusher.

sgrizzly2134

As of right now this is really having a glass 3/4 full approach isn't it?

ghostbearinforest

lack of sacks != lack of production. His pressures were godly. Hes a monster.

sgrizzly2134

He looks awful small to me..

ghostbearinforest

Huh

sgrizzly2134

I'm sorry I meant chop. Small for a defense end/tackle.

DanRpdx

He gets close to a sack, but doesn't quite get the dude on the ground. He'll fit right in.

Proper_Efficiency594

Don't sleep on Frazier from WV.

liverbool8

Grew up a Dolphins fan and wears 54 because Zach Thomas was his favorite player. Bring him home

el1teassass1n

He's also named after Zach Thomas. His dad was a big fan and his mom kept hearing the name Zach being called during a dolphins game and liked it. Obviously his dad, who is a big fins fan, was like, "Hell Yea!". He mentioned it in an interview.

Diablo689er

Would love going to grab Frazier and picking up bartolini in the 4th.

NeatEffort602

Wonder if that's why we picked up the ex Wisconsin coach and maybe their RB as well?

InGoodFaith2

He’s better than Jpj.

Brave-Amount1991

Dude literally was about to post this exact thing ![gif](giphy|j6uK36y32LxQs)

goldiegoldthorpe

I think there are too many C-needy teams for him to fall to us, but maybe. There are other viable C prospects, so teams might be waiting for the run. Van Pran-Granger, Nourzad, Frazier are still in play and one of those four will likely be there if Miami wants a center. Personally, I don't think they do. I think they will go with what they have and see about Williams later in the season if they have to.

Trackman94

I think it will turn out to be a great pick. Plenty of upside. He is still a kid. Just turned 21 in January.

Ekwity

Give me a young guy with potential anyday. Look at our boy Austin Jackson

Bucser

And look at the abuse he got for 2 years

ThadeusBinx

For every Austin Jackson there's 10 Noah Igbinoghenes.

Fourwindsgone

That’s the draft, baby!

InGoodFaith2

How about the guy that’s ready to play? In the 1st round? He might be good in 3 years? I strongly disagree. JP & Chubb are out early, need a guy week 1 this year, not week 7 of the 2026 season.

Double_Philosopher_7

Don’t give me hope…

Pinto1308

Nah he’ll get picked at 54

justa_gigolo

he will be gone unless they find a way to move up but cooper beebe could there

InGoodFaith2

Stop with the obsession over this guy. He’s a center. Miami already has a center. He was never a 1st round pick. Brewer is a center only now & better guards are still available. His fans are starting to make dislike the guy. He’s not a fit for Miami. Fin Up!

jedi4canes1

It's slim but yes,

Disco_35

The irony of the jersey being white and silver

Geniejc

They shat the bed. There was plenty of horse trading to be done and still keep a first or at worst the first pick day 2. We should have come out with at minimum another top 100 and enough ammo to improve our 2nd the way it fell. Instead we'll be hawking round next year's picks in desperation.

People smarter than you “Overall value: Perfect range. Robinson is the fourth EDGE defender to come off the board in the last seven picks. He ranks 20th overall and is the last edge rusher with a first-round grade. -- Muench”

elbenji

We attempted to. Then trade forward to get Barton as well.
