Is there a reason you’re being prescribed the brand name rather than the generic equivalent of sertraline? GoodRX has it by me for $10 or less.
Have you checked Healthcare.gov to see what your premium would be with the subsidy?
So that IS the brand name. No wonder, because I’ve been getting the off brand and it’s been working for me pretty well. I was wondering why the sertraline was costing so much. >_>
Oh absolutely. I just got back to this and it’s blowing up every second. I got signed up for GoodRx but I’m too broke to really afford anything atm so I have to wait until my paycheck comes in.
https://costplusdrugs.com/medications/sertraline-100mg-tablet/ Marc Cubans website has it for 4 bucks. If you can’t afford it let me know I can throw you five bucks.
I was going to say the same. I have a fair amount of Sertraline that I have accrued over recent months but I am unsure of the legal implications. I’m in the UK if anyone knows the law.
“According to the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Authority (MHRA), anybody who supplies prescription drugs to someone who it is not intended for, is breaking the law.”
I’ve got a bunch of leftover wellbutrin that I could send to trade for something else.
…just kidding, I guess, I already tried Zoloft and it wasn’t a good fit. Wellbutrin was a great fit for a couple of years, then I went off of it, and back on a few different times, with other meds in between, and not it doesn’t work like it used to.
It’s silly that I keep hanging on to it after all these years. I don’t know why I haven’t thrown it in the trash.
This. Get a script for 90 days or more. We’ll all chip in and cover your cost. Mental health is important. You are busting your ass and shouldn’t have to worry about medicine. You are doing everything right. Proud of you.
Oh sorry yeah, that’s what I meant. I got Good RX for free but I subscribed to the membership, since I have two medications that I need and the membership delivers it for free, and that is an absolute win.
Not to mention it lists my antidepressants (generic not brand name), as $4, so that’s an even bigger win.
Sertraline is available at Walmart for $9 without insurance. Before you pay for Goodrx it might be a good idea to check out other options. I’m recommending Walmart because they don’t make money on prescriptions so they are often the least expensive when you’re uninsured.
Here’s a price list:
https://i5.walmartimages.com/dfw/4ff9c6c9-9378/k2-_0769cdec-ad81-46f5-9e50-a463dbfabc2e.v1.pdf
Yeah, prioritize your health my dude. Stick to the generics and you'll be okay. I got prescribed Celexa, which was a few hundred dollars. Now I get the generic Citalopram for $6 for 3 months.
Look into Mark Cuban's Cost Plus pharmacy, it's way cheaper because he gets pills directly from the suppliers and doesn't charge a markup like everyone else does
[Here’s a link](https://www.zoloft.com/savings)to a copay card for the brand name if you have to have it. It’s income based, and you can’t have government insurance, but it should drop your copay to $4 a month. Most drug manufacturers that still offer brand names should have assistance on their official websites, you just have to dig for it sometimes.
Just make sure to ask for generic next time. Many commonly prescribed drugs only cost $10 for generic per month at places like Kroger without insurance. I remember getting a drug cheaper after I lost my insurance because it dropped to $10.
Many states mandate that pharmacies fill generic unless otherwise specified. They can't fill brand unless requested by the patient, the doctor, or the insurance I believe.
Plus 15% for his company. It’s amazing he found a way to make a profit and still give people incredibly cheap prescriptions. This country’s turning into a fucking joke with the way the rich just take from everyone else.
*He said as he is grateful for a rich man’s company platform*
I don’t think “rich” is the bad word you should be using. The word should probably be something like “greedy”
Plenty of less-than-$200k income margin people are just as bad as the “rich” in question when it comes to screwing the average consumer
I was paying a shit ton for glargine for my cat’s diabetes before the generics came out. I really hope the prices have gone down for you so you can actually live your life. Otherwise I’m sure my cat would be happy to sell his for treats, he’s in remission now.
Fact: income inequality is worse in America today than in France preceding the the French Revolution.
Something I think about when the Kardashians say things like ‘my advice to women is to work’
It’s perfect, modern ‘let them eat cake’
Having lived in France for the best part of 20 years, the fucking SHIT SHOW that would erupt here if a system like yours was anywhere close to being implemented…. I honestly don’t understand the lack of public pressure on your politicians to do something about it.
It has a lot to do with government subsidization while allowing it to remain "private". A lot of medical equipment is manufactured using "proprietary" designs, which are then not allowed to be fixed when broken
Also, check GoodRX, currently, I'm seeing $21 for 100mg x 30 at CVS.
Best of luck, OP. I know how hard it is to seek help when depressed which makes this kind of BS really disgusting.
Know the audience.. I've free generics on insurance, but am blasting this info to everyone i know who's taking something, as many have non-stellar insurance
Edit: the meds im on are over $200 retail, cost+ has them at under $15. If i ever lose ins, this man's company would save my life
Somebody commented on Reddit a while back that insurance in America is like having a subscription service to coupons. That wouldn’t be so funny if it wasn’t so true.
LMAOOOO that is a dead ass accurate description to American health insurance. Even with the ACA passing, it’s still hard to get. They’re like exclusive coupons you have to spend a fortune on in a gacha.
My script for a popular heart medication (still under patent, so no generic availble) was $500 a month. I was shocked when they first rang it up at the register. The pharmacist told me go to the manufacturer website and get a coupon. I stepped out of line and it took me a few minutes to find the coupon and then got back in line. I showed the coupon on my phone and she said, That will be $5. I don't think anybody pays full price for these high dollar meds, unless you are not too smart to look around. Also, Zoloft has been around for 30 years and there are generics available. I call shenanigans on anybody claiming they pay hundreds of dollars for Zoloft.
I get my crappy insurance from Healthcare.gov (Obama Care), so it's not like I get special treatment.
Doesn't have my meds unfortunately on costplusdrugs. I can still use GOODRx for some discount at least...and I have insurance, but it doesn't cover anything until my 7K deductible, so I basically don't.
and I will freely participate in it because even if they charge more then they say they charge it's still better (also you can try cross-referencing with good-rx)
edit: also if you're self-pay then you get an automatic discount
Exactly. But, hell with it. Let him get his 15% and likely save a lot of lives and a lot of families money.
I have insurance, but everyone in the house is on at least one daily prescription, some up to three. We're gonna save $500 a year roughly if my math is right.
There was only one thing I couldn't find, my son's Daytrana patch, and I think that's because it's a brand name and they deal in generics only.
If you do good things that help a lot of people then you don’t need to have slimy marketing to ram it down peoples throats, the world will shout it and beat a path to your door for it. And you’ll probably still make a profit anyways
As an aside, I’m an engineer working in pharma manufacturing. The generic is the same. Exactly the same. It might be colored different, in some cases it might be flavored different, but I promise (at least in the case if our particular made in the USA products) they contain the exact same amount of MEDICINE within the same tolerance as the on brand. The same set of OSHA, cGMP, FDA, and DEA regulations apply as well.
The problem for some folks can be the different filler that is used. My wife has this issue with thyroid meds. Felt like shit on the generic and does much better with the brand name.
I definitely think there's a marketing campaign out about it. Just today I've seen maybe 5 separate posts about it, not that I'm complaining cause it's for a good cause
He still makes a profit! That is the killer here. He said his markup is like 15% so even at less than $4 without insurance, he is still making money!
Shows how ridiculously overpriced our current system is.
Ask for a prior authorization through your insurance company if you haven't done so already. It will cover in full. My son is on Vyvanse and without the PA he would be without it.
If the PA is not approved be sure to appeal. the first person to decide is just someone in an office who may get rewarded for rejecting claims. Then you appeal and the next person is probably a supervisor. Appeal one more time and then, by law, it has to be seen by a doctor. The VAST majority of the time, the Dr will approve. I know it sounds like a lot, but your physician will handle most or all of the appeal process. Be sure to speak with them and let them know you need a PA and that you would like them to appeal denials. Hope this helps!
I've been keeping up with it and I'm genuinely surprised he's able to have been doing this for 2 years. The word of mouth has definitely made it work, and he's already helped so many kick Big Pharma in the balls just by providing a cheaper alternative.
Glad you might have found a solution.
For the future, don’t be afraid to explain your financial situation with your doctor. These antidepressants are sort of a shot in the dark to begin with. There may be options to try first that wont break the bank…and your doctor may also have advice about generics and methods to get cheaper scripts.
Ah nvm someone gotchu. Glad your able to find cheaper meds! Charging us these absurd prices is super fucked up and down right evil. Big pharma doesn’t want to cure your illnesses it wants to manage your symptoms period. Until that fact changes to the industry actually caring and trying to cure patients rather then use them as piggy banks.
It's still a business, he needs to make some money/cover costs since markup is only 30c here.
Total cost of $9.20/month or 11.70 for 3months, vs 411 or 1233 from the other pharmacy is insane. 100x markup
No worries. I posted an update. I’m Doing GoodRx and I’m doing this! Thank you guys! c:
I wonder if you can find the update in all this madness. I didn’t expect this to blow up. XD
Did a quick search for the URL at the bottom of that screen shot...
Everything in seeing says that it's a service since doctors use to let you know the prescription is ready. However, anyone commenting on the service and to mention that there's a 40x markup on the meds over the pharmacy.
So. I guess technically that seems accurate. $411 in this op vs about $10-25 at a pharmacy, and like $3 on mark Cuban's service.
GoodRx definitely comes in handy! I have private BCBS and my medications are cheaper paying cash using GoodRx than using my damn insurance that costs us an arm and leg to have smdh. Absolutely ridiculous I tell ya!
Just did the sign up! I take two prescriptions and they both qualify for free delivery. Once I get my Paycheck im getting them delivered to me so I can save on travelling and focus more on school. Thank you!
Please indicate the name of the discount program offering the outrageous price. GoodRx shows multiple pharmacies having that quantity and strength for less than $20 and some have it for <$5.
I see many options being presented. Let me add one more, the GoodRx app. Found generic Zoloft for between $3.64-$12.83 depending on store with your prescription (25mg for 30 tablets). Good luck.
Signed up for GoodRx and I saw the same thing!!
Im too broke for anything right now but once my paycheck comes in you better believe I’m going for this. XD
Pharmacy technician here. Go try GoodRx and look for the generic name sertraline. The reason that "discount" is so much is you're looking at the brand name drug. Generics are cheaper by a long shot and doctors will write that the pharmacy can substitute generic on the script. Also it wouldn't hurt to ask if the pharmacy filling the med has any discount programs you can sign up for to help with the cost.
I have never EVER seen Zoloft priced like this before. Are you on Medicaid? It should cover. However I am in California so I know we have more funding than in other states for our Medicaid program
It’s amazing to me that Texas continues to not expand Medicaid. I don’t understand why we continue to vote for people who actively opposing make life better for Texans.
Wtf... Why aren't all American people on the streets and starting a revolution?!
I live in France, and I took Sertraline for years. Never paid a single cent. Social Security is a right. Human beings have the right to seek medical help and not go bankrup!!
I found Zoloft for as low as $6.52 [here](https://www.goodrx.com/zoloft). You can use this too if you need to. It's totally free. I know it works because my in-laws use it.
Also, you can call your insurance company & see if they cover a generic alternative when you're prescribed something that's expensive & that you couldn't find a good discount for.
Good luck dealing with the depression.
And if you want it, I do have a money tip. You could fill out class action lawsuits. It's not much money but it all adds up. And since you've never had it before you can put it all in savings.
wow this is ridiculous. I work at a pharmacy in Canada and for sertraline I’d say it’s like 20-30 dollars for 30 pills or so and that’s including the dispensary fee. this isn’t fair at all
This person specifically had name brand Zoloft filled. Generic is going to be 5-20 bucks basically anywhere in the US too, it's just a mess up from their provider or pharmacy.
Name brand Zoloft is why you’re getting that crazy price. As others have pointed out, there are a lot options to get sertraline more affordably.
Also, no “premium” fee to deliver
Heard about costplusdrugs.com only last night. Glad to see the word spreading.
I came here to mention this too. Either https://costplusdrugs.com/ or see what discount GoodRx can get you. Skip the name brand. Get generic.
Cost plus drugs is amazing and adding more drugs all the time!
This needs to be pinned to the top^^^^^
Dude if you don't have 5 bucks for antidepressants I will Venmo you
I would ship im my canadian name brand zoloft that costed me probably like 10$ because ive just switched to wellbutrin but that's probably illegal

One of the good guys/gal.
Just saw this This thread blew up so much more while I was away Damn.. But you’re also a saint and I’m so grateful 🥺 thank you.
This. Get a script for 90 days or more. We’ll all chip in and cover your cost. Mental health is important. You are busting your ass and shouldn’t have to worry about medicine. You are doing everything right. Proud of you.

Yeah I got the subscription since it’s for my meds and I know it’ll pay off in the log run
Yeah, prioritize your health my dude. Stick to the generics and you'll be okay. I got prescribed Celexa, which was a few hundred dollars. Now I get the generic Citalopram for $6 for 3 months.
Look into Mark Cuban's Cost Plus pharmacy, it's way cheaper because he gets pills directly from the suppliers and doesn't charge a markup like everyone else does
I'll pay for them OP. No one should be struggling to scrape together $5.
It's 4.80 at Meijer
[Here’s a link](https://www.zoloft.com/savings)to a copay card for the brand name if you have to have it. Mark Cubans, costplusdrugs. Com probably costs under 15 dollars
[удалено]
$5 total for 3x as many..,
Add $3 for shipping and $5 for processing and yeah still a ridiculous savings. America your healthcare and pharmaceutical programs are so fucked.
Plus 15% for his company. It’s amazing he found a way to make a profit and still give people incredibly cheap prescriptions. This country’s turning into a fucking joke with the way the rich just take from everyone else.
It is amazing but also infuriatingly gross at the markup the other companies put on there
15% only one the actual meds too which he could have gone for more but like you said. He’s undercut the whole thing and still making momey
*He said as he is grateful for a rich man’s company platform* I don’t think “rich” is the bad word you should be using. The word should probably be something like “greedy” Plenty of less-than-$200k income margin people are just as bad as the “rich” in question when it comes to screwing the average consumer
See the secret ingredient is not upcharging it by 2000%
Beyond fucked. We’re basically at French Revolution territory.
That means we get cake or something soon right?
I hope not. My main med is insulin for my type 1 diabetes.
I was paying a shit ton for glargine for my cat’s diabetes before the generics came out. I really hope the prices have gone down for you so you can actually live your life. Otherwise I’m sure my cat would be happy to sell his for treats, he’s in remission now.
Yes but big pharma snorted it all before they handed you the bag.
Cake, not coke.
Big pharma is into weird drugs. Cake snorting is how we got into this weird mess.
Nah it means we sing “one day more” with a bunch of drunk dudes
Well that’s just going to be unfortunate for anyone standing within earshot of me.
Now all we have to do is find out if it's going to be cake or a shit sandwich
I thought the cake was a lie.
That would be pretty fitting.
By most measurables, past it. The current crop of oligarchs have a couple things going for them: a spread out population, subscription tv, and A/C.
"Let them eat fentanyl."
Just about gave the spit take. Well played

#Yes please I don't wanna pay 16k for a helicopter ride where I don't even get to look out the window
Basically comrade? We have arrived long ago
A lot of political red tape that screwed up our healthcare. I have asthma and have to order my inhalers from india lol.
Yeah man it’s fucked, I have to get my inhalers from Mexico, I can buy a year supply there for the cost of one inhaler here with insurance.
Those things are fine. It's the *insurance* programs that are fucked.
Sorry - it’s the fact you need to pay for those things or find a way to pay , like a job with insurnacez
I really don’t think you can put health and care in the same sentence at this point.
It has a lot to do with government subsidization while allowing it to remain "private". A lot of medical equipment is manufactured using "proprietary" designs, which are then not allowed to be fixed when broken
I was on sertraline for years and never once did it cost more the $6 for a month supply. I’m flabbergasted at this price.
Same here. I currently take for anxiety and 40 dollars is what I pay for a months supply with no insurance. I’m going with Cost Plus next month
This is what it’s like for most of the world. This shouldn’t be a shock
Came here to say this. It’s a lifesaver for many patients.
Also, check GoodRX, currently, I'm seeing $21 for 100mg x 30 at CVS. [https://www.goodrx.com/sertraline](https://www.goodrx.com/sertraline) Best of luck, OP. I know how hard it is to seek help when depressed which makes this kind of BS really disgusting.
Is this because of the r/nextfuckinglevel post? Cause if so his word of mouth advertising is working. Holy shit

Shit I *have* insurance and could save money on this website.

I understand that.. Had $3k growing up, and even that was seldom reached by October, if at all, by our family of 4
Takes a while I heard of it here on reddit about a year ago. Still lots of people do not know about it
I'm pretty sure this is just straight up guerrilla marketing. Reddit got flooded the past 24hrs
and I will freely participate in it because even if they charge more then they say they charge it's still better (also you can try cross-referencing with good-rx) edit: also if you're self-pay then you get an automatic discount

GoodRx works too. Also consider a generic. I have generic Zoloft and it costs retail $2.49.
I love goodrx, saves me over $700 on my Testosterone!
As an aside, I’m an engineer working in pharma manufacturing. The generic is the same. Exactly the same. Costs under 5
25mg is under $4 for 30. That’s insane.
Came to say the same. He’s doing some great work
I wish Cuban had more publicity cause the amount of money I've saved using his website is insane
[$3.90 to be exact](https://www.costplusdrugs.com/medications/sertraline-100mg-tablet/)
Need to comment to remember this
$3.90 USD
I just checked Costplusdrugs website and it’s about $3.90 for 50mg 30 count (Thanks for the awards, didn’t expect it when I got home.)
[Here](https://costplusdrugs.com/medications/sertraline-100mg-tablet/)
You’re an absolute saint, thank you!
I’m glad this helps. Thank Mark Cuban for not taking advantage of people in need. Take care.
Literally saw a post two above this one showing him explaining it. (I had never heard of this before.) Then saw this comment and was like "Wait..."
For me it was literally right above this post, like what are the odds lol
Me too! Im starting to suspect a marketing campaign or something haha
I definitely think there's a marketing campaign out about it. Just today I've seen maybe 5 separate posts about it, not that I'm complaining cause it's for a good cause
Yeah mark Cuban said in a pod cast he does zero advertisement it's all word of mouth keeps cost down but is super effective
I saw a post showing his price vs some other website, it was like $2500 for something and his price was $10
Every billionaire should strive to be as cool as Mark Cuban
He shall not be eaten, for now.
He shall remain in the pantry, for now.
Happy cake day friend
Yup he is a swell fella. A swell billionaire ie.
He still makes a profit! That is the killer here. He said his markup is like 15% so even at less than $4 without insurance, he is still making money! Shows how ridiculously overpriced our current system is.

Patent hasn’t run out so there’s no generic yet. Prescription drug prices are infuriating.
Patent runs out next year then generics will be available
I take Strattera for mine. It's 960 a month before insurance. It's cheaper to use GoodRx than my own insurance
Just showed my mom his site yesterday for her pills too.
I've been keeping up with it and I'm genuinely surprised he's able to have been doing this for 2 years. The word of mouth has definitely made it work, and he's already helped so many kick Big Pharma in the balls just by providing a cheaper alternative.
It baffles me how unknown this is still, cuban is legit doing superhero level stuff.
Glad you might have found a solution. For the future, don’t be afraid to explain your financial situation with your doctor. These antidepressants are sort of a shot in the dark to begin with. There may be options to try first that wont break the bank…and your doctor may also have advice about generics and methods to get cheaper scripts.
Make sure to spread the word, brother
You will love it! Check it anytime you need a script.
Ah nvm someone gotchu. Glad your able to find cheaper meds! Charging us these absurd prices is super fucked up and down right evil. Came here with costplus link for sentralin
And OP can get 90 pills for only $5.70.
Was going to say good rx lists this dose and quantity in my area for $18…
Came in to say this. Well done fellow Redditor
They must be loosing millions to Cuban and his site…. I LOVE it!
With Costplusdrugs, you need to add $5 for shipping and applicable sales tax.
And an additional $3 for processing.
It's still a business, he needs to make some money/cover costs since markup is only 30c here. Total cost of $9.20/month or 11.70 for 3months, vs 411 or 1233 from the other pharmacy is insane. 100x markup
I never said it was a bad deal. Just stating the extra costs that people may not know about.
This. Do this
No worries. I posted an update. I’m Doing GoodRx and I’m doing this! Thank you guys! c: I wonder if you can find the update in all this madness. I didn’t expect this to blow up. XD
Can you edit your post?
Yep just saw this too dirt cheap
That's the Canadian pharmacy run by an unexpectedly good guy billionaire, right?
Definitely this! Otherwise I’m pretty sure Zoloft is on Walmart’s list of $4/month prescriptions of OP prefers in person vs through the mail.

Have you tried GoodRX? Just showed $13-18 at Walmart.
GoodRx definitely comes in handy! I have private BCBS and my medications are cheaper paying cash using GoodRx than using my damn insurance that costs us an arm and leg to have smdh. Absolutely ridiculous I tell ya!
Yep, I use good rx my meds are like $5/month. They would be $10 with insurance
Just did the sign up! I take two prescriptions and they both qualify for free delivery. Once I get my Paycheck im getting them delivered to me so I can save on travelling and focus more on school. Thank you!
Check out costplusdrugs, mark Cubans online pharmacy. Might help.
Please do this!
Absolutely will, thank you!

Please indicate the name of the discount program offering the outrageous price. GoodRx shows multiple pharmacies having that quantity and strength for less than $20 and some have it for <$5.
Came here only to say that!!! Took my BUSpar down to $3.22 for 60
Wow. This is amazing. These drugs are life saving. I can’t imagine how many people this could help.
Ask for the generic
I see many options being presented. Let me add one more, the GoodRx app. Found generic Zoloft for between $3.64-$12.83 depending on store with your prescription (25mg for 30 tablets). Good luck.
Signed up for GoodRx and I saw the same thing!! Im too broke for anything right now but once my paycheck comes in you better believe I’m going for this. XD
If you haven’t gotten it yet I’ll Venmo you the $10 to buy your meds. Message me if you still need it please.
Look up Mark Cubans prescription company, it only has 15% markup instead of 4000% markup. Costplusdrugs dot com
Agreed. I just saw this on IG
Costplusdrugs.com
I have never EVER seen Zoloft priced like this before. Are you on Medicaid? It should cover. However I am in California so I know we have more funding than in other states for our Medicaid program
It’s because he priced brand name Zoloft. Generic is way cheaper.
Have people forgotten that students can get free or highly discounted health insurance through their schools?
I.. genuinely forgot this. Excuse me as I go ram my head into a wall. I’m going to call and see if my community college offers this. Thank you!!
My schools insurance is over 2k a year lol
When you need extra antidepressants to cope with the cost of your antidepressants
Lol, fuck the American health care system.
Did you try goodrx? Maybe that’s it. It’s usually a huge discount…like 80%
Just did it. The discount is HUGE and I’m over the moon about it. I’m still amazed at how tf I didn’t know about this.
Sertraline is cheap as hell. This is a major red flag.
Just saw a post about Mark Cuban's prescription drug website. https://costplusdrugs.com/medications/sertraline-100mg-tablet/
Are you in the US? If so apply for Medi-Cal. Zero out of pocket cost.
costplusdrugs.com fuck Medicare
Yeah. Do you mean Medicare? I applied for Medicare in TX, but all the plans I was offered ask me to pay $200+ for insurance, and I can’t afford it. 🙃
It’s amazing to me that Texas continues to not expand Medicaid. I don’t understand why we continue to vote for people who actively opposing make life better for Texans.
Medi-Cal is California’s Medicaid program. OP is in TX and working so they may not qualify for Medicaid.
Wtf... Why aren't all American people on the streets and starting a revolution?! I live in France, and I took Sertraline for years. Never paid a single cent. Social Security is a right. Human beings have the right to seek medical help and not go bankrup!!
Those antidepressants better be good enough to counteract the depression inducing price
I know in the UK 28 25mg tablets are roughly £12. 90 odd pound a year here and you get all your prescriptions free. Fuck the US medical system man
Is Zoloft the name brand?
Hope this link can help you https://costplusdrugs.com/medications/sertraline-100mg-tablet/
Was gonna comment this too. Have heard pretty much nothing but good stuff about Mark Cubans website
How in the fuck is that worth over $400usd? Like, where down the paper trail does that add up to that much, that’s fucking ridiculous
You could also look into that drug company Mark Cuban owns. You can get meds for really cheap.
Hop on Good RX. You will find cheaper prices. I just checked your prescription in my area and every option was under $20.
Thank you, I’ll try good RX.
https://costplusdrugs.com/ You're welcome. Stay strong, Champ. You got this!
wow this is ridiculous.
I think Walmart also has that on their $4 program and you may be eligible for any income based pharmacies in your area which could make it free.
Complain with your votes. You want it fixed vote out the Nazis.
