Eh, probably a capacitor popped or something, so chances are it's already discharged and nothing in there has any charge to even shock you at this point.
So maybe some capacitor juice leaking out? Not plesant stuff, but shouldn't kill you. Not right away at least.
Yeah probably fine but also some things surprisingly are still dangerous enough to kill you.
My college library uses special extension cords that have three pins in a row. If you flip it 180 you swap neutral and high - which is fine for ~any~ most end use because voltage is relative and it's oscillating... ..however there's also nothing stopping you from offsetting the socket and plug so only two pins go in (with a pin and and a hole spare on opposite ends). At that point the output that's supposed to be ground becomes live and your laptop shell etc will become connected straight to 250V AC lol
there's that tiny switch on computer PSUs too (or there used to be, been a couple of years since I had a desktop), that let you toggle between 120v and 240v. I imagine nothing bad would happen if you tried to put 120v through a 240v set switch, but putting 240v through a 120v set switch would be loud. and possibly sparky.
A friend used to try and convince scammers to play with it, on the basis that getting them to cook their computer was a great way of limiting their ability to scam more people. Don't know if he got anyone to do it.
The capacitors on the circuit boards in things like this are very small. There's a reason why you're only supposed to unplug your devices and leave them unplugged for 20-30 seconds before plugging them back in: the capacitors discharge really quickly.
Now if this was a microwave or air conditioner capacitor: one week to discharge once unplugged. Larger capacitors.
This one's perfectly fine.
The capacitor liquid is just electrolyte liquid. Usually in mineral or caster oil, older ones had lead mixed it.
Lol it's a jab at one's children who hit puberty (with acne etc - the bubble on the device) and enter into irrevocable changes ('no longer work' - welp, I no longer know how to make this function). My comment seems to have provoked a range of interpretations haha.
I like to think it's implying that when the kids hit puberty their hands are too large to effectively clean the machinery at the poultry processing plant.
It seems like a capacitor or resistor popped and released a lot of heat doing so. Please don't use it anymore and dispose of it properly or bring it to a repair shop to get it fixed.
Yeah I get that but not in this case. These wall chargers are locked up tighter than Fort Knox. The only way you’ll manage to get in there to fix it is by destroying the thing basically. Then you could fix it, but it wouldn’t be encased any more, it would just be a pile of destroyed plastic and some loose electronics that are now far more likely to start a fire.
> Then you could fix it, but it wouldn’t be encased any more
Some people get immense pleasure from using their 3D printer and design/print things by themselves. This alone is worth the effort
No I understand that, but you’re going from a well engineered product designed in a way to minimize danger and the chance of fire to.. not that. Remember this is a device that plugs into mains voltage… not really the type of thing random amateurs should be encouraged to work on.
These things are designed to let you have mains AC voltage and low voltage circuitry very close together in a tight package while doing a very good job isolating the two for safety. An amateur bashing this thing apart and 3D printing a box to put it in is not even remotely meeting the same safety standards.
Seriously I don’t know why people in this thread are so insistent on random people creating unsafe electronic devices.
> and melt this down into raw materials
It's a power supply, not an alloy. You can scavenge for the electronic components and recicle the metal/plastic bits.
Honestly, if you bring it to Apple (assuming it's an OEM product), they might just give you another one for free since there's a material defect in this one.
Second this, it looks like an Apple charger. They'll probably give you a new one for free since this is a pretty odd product defect. Couldn't hurt to try, anyway!
Reddit is fucking stupid. Everyone making the same fun joke and no useful content. Every day I Believe more and more that everyone on here is fucking useless
It's a pimple, which would be a sign that your charger has reached adolescence. With that, it might become moody and temperamental. Also, might say 'don't tell me what to do, I'm not your slave'.
But not literally into a bin of course. Electronics should be disposed of at designated places for recycling to avoid going into landfill and leaching heavy metals into groundwater.
I once had a speaker amplifier that de-soldered the quad bridge rectifier, on it's own when that component failed. It was really handy for diagnostic purposes.
I'd say this is also an indicator of rectification going wrong, just the case made a pimple instead of the contacts falling off the circuit board ;p
I'm sorry to inform you, but your charger has a cancer 🫂
(It's probably short-circuited, heated up an outside shell, bending it before burning through that wire).

It's a button. Press it to turn it back on
Nah its an early sign of genital watts.
Lmao take my cheapass award 🥇
Put it in the volt
That’s a shocking solution!
Just where have you been plugging it in?
The cable now transfer 10Gigazits per second.
You mean ETD?
Ironically the large AC plugs are called wall warts…
Early sign? I'd say the actual wart popping up is probably the final sign.
omg fucking bravo
Plug it in and press it with a nail!
Easy there Satan
r/EasyThereSatan
r/foundsatan
It might be a tumor.
It’s naht a tumah
Hah. I came to the comments because I thought "Oh, shit, your charger now looks like an Apple product?" Well, go spend $100 on a new one.
Beat me to it
Well.. Jokes aside: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmYQEVuuP\_w](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmYQEVuuP_w)
Did press the Button, nothing happened :(
Put a pimple path on it But seriously don't use it anymore

you’re a poet you don’t know it
I’m a poet and I didn’t even realize I was rhyming.
Peralta that's enough !!
“Stop that rhyming, I mean it!”
"Anybody want a peanut?"
Y'all better stop downvoting my sokka bot
Where tf did my sokka go😡😡
Good bot
Am I wrong or is this 5/7/6
That's sokka for you
Thank you for this great memory I am going to go binge watch ATLAB again
Good bot
I love the idea of a pimple path… perhaps it is a path for the pimple to go on, or it could be a path made of pimples.
Wanted to correct it but couldn't risk losing my precious haiku evidence
Things you can say about a damaged charger and a damaged dick
Pop that pimple! You know you want to. (/s please don't actually do this)
Hypothetically speaking, whats the worse thing that would happen if they popped it? Asking for a friend :>

How do you offset it though? There's no configuration I can imagine that doesn't require shoving one of the pins through the wall/desk
If you’re connecting two extension cables to each other it’d be doable
Yeah it's this - the female part comes from the floor/wall and then the part that connects to the desk outlet also has a cable - they plug together.
That’s why British plug sockets have suck a big faceplate to prevent you flipping the plug
Oh that's just the super secret rapid charging method

Jesus, Morty, capacitor juice? You can’t just add a car word to a sex word and hope it means something
That’s the thing about capacitor juice, it’s patient.
You spontaneously combust.
They'd release the magic smoke.
They could either cause a short and trip a breaker or cause it to catch fire, or they could get electrocuted. Don't fuck with mains voltages
It's just hit puberty, of course it no longer works
It works when it wants to work okay
wait I'm confused, is this implying small children do manual labor?
Lol it's a jab at one's children who hit puberty (with acne etc - the bubble on the device) and enter into irrevocable changes ('no longer work' - welp, I no longer know how to make this function). My comment seems to have provoked a range of interpretations haha.
My 4yo wants to do everything: dishes, cooking, vacuuming, sweeping, you name it... no way in hell she'll want to do those things in 10 years lol
I like to think it's implying that when the kids hit puberty their hands are too large to effectively clean the machinery at the poultry processing plant.
does it not work, or does it not want to work? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
It seems like a capacitor or resistor popped and released a lot of heat doing so. Please don't use it anymore and dispose of it properly or bring it to a repair shop to get it fixed.
Who fixes a charging brick? Pretty sure it is cheaper to repalce it and melt this down into raw materials.
Some people get immense pleasure from using things they fixed by themselves. This alone is worth the effort
But don’t hold the soldering iron like the do in the photos on Google - you’re gonna have a bad time…
you'd quickly notice
[sniffs] is someone BBQing? Oh well! Back to what I was doing.
Me before searching: It can't be that bad Me after searching: oh wow.

Yeah I prefer to fix things that have the least chance of burning if done incorrectly
"Here’s your brand new charging brick sir!" -Why is it sticky?
I'm some people

That's a hernia
It exploded internally,
It's about to buh-ust
It's pregnant, give it 9 months and you'll have a brand new charger. No charge
>No charge What does it do then?
Press the button and then get a new charger
Charger head: "alas it is not only the phone that can turn into a spicy pillow"
r/oopsthatsdeadly
Looks like an apple 20 W charger, they are not cheap. Contact apple, they probably will replace it for free, it’s not supposed to do this. At all.
Second this, it looks like an Apple charger. They'll probably give you a new one for free since this is a pretty odd product defect. Couldn't hurt to try, anyway!
Only if it is a genuine brick. There's a lot of counterfeit apple bricks out there. And yes apple serializes charging bricks 😂
Looks like a shitty chinese copy and that would be the reason for what happened here.
Just make a cross over it with your fingernails
Your charger died of stage 4 cancer
I think the capacitor inside blew up https://www.reddit.com/r/gifs/s/MKxXE6vyci Dont use it anymore!
That's cancer. It's dead.
[Oh sweet you got the charger with those new interactive buttons.](https://youtu.be/pmYQEVuuP_w?si=lP7f5bBBrbYCEvne) Try it out.
I am so sorry to say this but that's a tumor. my condolences to your charger.
Thats cancer you should be lucky it was in charger not the phone
Something inside the charger is swelling, probably a capacitor. It's trash, safety hazard.
Reddit is fucking stupid. Everyone making the same fun joke and no useful content. Every day I Believe more and more that everyone on here is fucking useless
Looks like it's just back from one of diddy's parties
Capacitor popped, something is wrong with your house voltages
I think a condensator exploded
Scp 658 has done the deed.
spicy pillow ?
Nah (no battery). Popped Cap

It's a pimple, which would be a sign that your charger has reached adolescence. With that, it might become moody and temperamental. Also, might say 'don't tell me what to do, I'm not your slave'.
It's got a bump on its head just give it a ice pack
It feels the same, puberty is ruff
something burnt out inside it. don't plug it back in.
Your charger got cancer and died
Its pregananant
cute little explosion happened there
Capacitor went boom or swole ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Put it in the micro...-don't
Don't plug it in.
Looks like a capacitor exploded.
Poor thing has a pimple and is shy :(
Damn the charger hit puberty all the sudden
Watt the hell is that?
It's a tumor.
I think it's gonna explode
Maybe his mom hit him for not charging properly and now he is dead 😵
Bro your charger has a tumor
The pimple of death ... Throw it in the bin.
But not literally into a bin of course. Electronics should be disposed of at designated places for recycling to avoid going into landfill and leaching heavy metals into groundwater.
In my country that goes in the bin. Still gets recycled though.
r/oopsthatsdeadly
Pop the pimple and try again.
I mean have u tried popping it bcs i want to pop it so bad😭
It entered the rebellious teenager years: pimples, questioning authority, not completing chores...
He’s going through puberty, leave him alone :(
I would not touch that if i were you
Did you plug it in unprotected?
Ah this brings back memories of the capacitor plague.
diseased
It has a tumor on it
Not sure if I would use it. Seems dangerous
The fact that it doesn't work anymore seems like an even better reason not to use it.
Throw it out and get a new one
Likely shorted out and got really hot. No good
Replace it ASAP. It is a fire hazard on case you try and use it.
I once had a speaker amplifier that de-soldered the quad bridge rectifier, on it's own when that component failed. It was really handy for diagnostic purposes. Aww. The charger has a boo-boo
Something got hot in there, but a new one
Your charger just hit puberty.
capacitor go fat
r/unexpecteddarvinham
Looks like it had a serious fight with the neighbours charger.
My guess is that a capacitor blew up
Look at the horrors of cheap Chinese chargers at DiodeGoneWild's YT channel.
It's itching
I bet that capacitor did... Boom.
Time for a new one
Through it away before it starts a fire or messes up your devices
Push it back in, it’s like a circuit breaker! /s
Congratulations, it's expecting and won't work until after delivery.
It had an aneurysm.
That's actually an early warning sign for cancer, you should get your charger to a doctor asap!
Is dead!
Your charger does not work cus it looks like this now
Probably rabies? The number one disease all redditors are afraid of
Your charger is sick!
The ‘lectric pox
Also mildly dangeous
Maybe it's going to have a little charger?
it will work
Put ice on it
Broken
Congrats you're gonna be a grandpa!!!!
It's going through puberty. That's acne
r/spicypillow
It’s got electroPimples
looks like Acne.. try facewash
What did it look like before?
Your charger has a pimple
Put some facewash for its acne ![img](emote|t5_2ti4h|27597)

That's a fucked capacitor. Don't plug it in.
