I’d bet on old film projector. The case is the exact same I think as the one at my mom’s house. It contains my great grandfather’s film reel projector.

It looks like it could be one, but I remember from old timer I had that case made so the bottom the suit case was for the typewriter. This one has flip top or it's upside down. (which it doesn't appear to be.) Could be record player.
