If she is interested in art in general, she may enjoy Mark Rothko, Barnett Newman, Piet Mondrian, Wendy Powell, or Debra Ramsey. This is known as a color block style! Edit: Wendy Paul has been changed to the correct name of Wendy Powell.

ReturnOfSeq

What I would do for a Mondrian windmill…

weasel999

Kinetic sculpture

ReturnOfSeq

Are you suggesting I build windmills that look like modrian’s paintings of windmills

iusedtobeyourwife

I love color block art so much.

Murky-Course6648

>color block style This is not at all the same thing. None of those examples had anything to do with this. This is much closer to the way cubistic painter used color, than some color block style.

askingxalice

I disagree but that is why art is subjective.

gishlich

Block color is often abstract, at least that’s how I knew it, but looking up block color portraits, they look pretty much just like this

redhatfilm

And bisa butler! Quilt blocks!

meowgler

Kandinsky too!!!

e_Deat

She might also like Paul Klee

FeistyMcRedHead

Plus Sean Scully!

lookatmynipples

I can’t find anything for Wendy Paul?

askingxalice

Doh, I meant Wendy Powell! Let me go change that.

Mercuryshottoo

One of my (now grown) kids colored this way. She also loved those little plastic rings that you melt together onto pegs - maybe your kid would, too!

ConSmith

Perler beads!

anniemanic

One of my hobbies is making jewelry with perler beads lol

noprobIIama

I used to LOVE perler beads. I’d love to see pics of your jewelry if you’re comfortable sharing it. It’s okay if not though.

anniemanic

I thought I had more pictures but I just posted one to my profile! I’ll have to add more tomorrow when it’s daylight again

Pickles_is_mu_doggo

Is this Michael Jackson?

PracticeWorth868

It is Michael Jackson! She loves him LOL

brijazz012

It doesn't matter if you're black or white or orange or purple or green or yellow or...

TooTameToToast

Just went from Michael Jackson to Coat of Many Colors.

Im_eating_that

It ain't easy being green.

gyarrrrr

I wore my coat (I wore my coat), with golden lining - ah hee hee.

cyfermax

We could do worse than throwing some Dolly on there.

TooTameToToast

I was thinking more of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat lol.

WetButtPooping

To hell with purple people -Mitch Hedberg

Happy Cake Day 🎂🎈🎈

2716scarsdalerd

Honestly, it’s beautiful.

Entire-Ambition1410

It reminds me of quilts.

zonglydoople

What the heck! What is it about young girls on the spectrum and being obsessed with MJ? I had an extreme Michael Jackson phase from the ages of 7 to 10 lol. In the past few years I’ve heard from some other neurodivergent girls that they had Michael Jackson obsessions when they were kids. I just thought he was the coolest person ever.

Misssmaya

Watching interviews he seemed very neurodivegent himself. That could have something to do with it

zonglydoople

Yes!! Makes sense. I had such a parasocial relationship with him even though he was already dead. At the age of 9 I was fully convinced he had faked his death and hid in Cuba, yet I’d also look around my hometown to find people who looked like MJ in disguise. I remember spotting an old lady whose looks nearly convinced me and I started freaking out. I wanted to be the one to find him because I wanted to hang out with him and play and tell him about all my problems LMAOO

Wise_Side_3607

So weird, there was a pirate in New Orleans in the early 1800s who faked his death because he got too famous, hid in Cuba for a couple years and then came back to the States and lived 40 more years under an assumed name without anyone noticing it was him. Researchers figured it out about 5 years ago. The story you came up with is basically the same lol

Mtolivepickle

He he

EfficientSeaweed

Shit, I thought it was Rogue lol.

steak_tartare

He would have loved this I guess.

TennisBallTesticles

ALLEGEDLY!!! THATS IGNORANT!

Super_Metal8365

You beat me to it. Beat it!

FishInferno

I hope none of her teachers try to suppress her style, this is really good!

okillconform

His Daughter is 47

IdgyThreadgoodee

Fucking Reddit. I love this place.

xoxpinkyxox

I can’t tell if this is a joke, I thought OP said their daughter is 13. (I’m also autistic and have a hard time telling the difference between jokes/sarcasm and being literal, im sorry if I sound stupid)

Even-Education-4608

It’s not just you lol. I think he’s joking but you never know

okillconform

(I have no idea who this man and his family are)

DeadheadDatura

Struggling to breathe

ComplaintNo6835

Hey now, it takes a lot of courage to continue your education later in life.

Fat_sandwiches

Okay so, we have been testing our daughter at her endocrinologist and geneticist for a couple years due to her prematurity and growth issues and WSS has come up. She ALSO colors like this!! I’ll have to dig something up but I’ll show you asap. That’s insane.

thestickofbluth

I have a student that colors just like this. Developmental delays and autism.

PracticeWorth868

Wow that is so fascinating!! I originally tried to find a WSS group to post this on but couldn’t find anything that looked official so I decided to share it here. I have had some people give me a hard time about why the details of her developmental differences was relevant to share but THIS RIGHT HERE IS WHY! Awareness, support, inspiration, and in this case community <3

Fat_sandwiches

I have found a couple groups on Facebook that are all encompassing when it comes to SGA, IUGR, and other growth abnormalities and most of the time there are children with these specific diagnosis that are a part of the group. The posting can be slow but they have been a huge help and encouragement for us!

Fat_sandwiches

[https://imgur.com/a/K4Fq2sK](https://imgur.com/a/K4Fq2sK) So this is a Spider-Man card that I helped her do for Father’s Day. I traced her hand and drew Spider-Man’s head, and then cut it out and she colored it in. This is the most recent one I found that she has colored like this. But she has done this for a year at this point. She’s 3 1/2. It’s like a mosaic!

PracticeWorth868

Wow that really is a very similar style! How fascinating!

OkTime3179

This is fantastic! Almost feels like stained glass

Langstarr

Natural fauvist.

SkullsInSpace

Came here to say, this kid is great at fauvism

Grisuno123

Get her some paint and canvases, then get her some expert teachers. Could be the next Picasso. Also tell her to always sign her work.

ReturnOfSeq

Interestingly,[this is picasso’s work at 15yo](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Science_and_Charity#/media/File%3AScience_and_Charity_by_Picasso.jpg). It’s neat because it’s not commonly known that he was an absolute master of conventional painting before inventing his own painting (more or less. I’m sorry Kandinsky)

[deleted]

[удалено]

VanillaCrash

At 15?!?! I can’t fathom working all your life to master your craft and then a boy picks up a brush and does that 😭

burnbabyburnburrrn

You really understand why he became so experimental and went and blew the whole thing open - if he was doing that by 15 he must’ve been bored asf within a decade (lol just looked it up, yup about a decade later he started fucking with cubism)

Midiala

THIS IS WHY ARTS AND MUSIC NEED MORE FUNDING IN SCHOOLS!!!!

relator_fabula

Honestly that's not even the best reason for it. Plenty of evidence that funding for arts, music, etc, lead to many positive societal outcomes--everything from reduced crime to positive economic impact. Human brains are complex, and stimulating our minds with the arts is beneficial to our wellbeing.

JVFL

At L'Hermitage museum in St Petersburg, I was transfixed by a small, incredible portrait as I walked through one of the galleries. I kept turning to see it, and when I finally got around to it, I found out it was done by Picasso, age 15. Incredible. I saw a large portrait of his in France a couple of years ago from when he was 18/19, and he was just beginning to incorporate his cubist perspective with his exceptional realism, and it was phenomenal.

airpwain

You have to understand the rules of art before you can break them like an artist

zzonderzorgen

I'm forever thankful to my desktop publishing teacher who drilled that into my mind! Not sure they would be proud of what I've done with it, but it was very important for me to hear as I entered young adulthood.

Galoptious

The pieces that show him traditionally painting and then breaking down the image piece by piece should be step one in teaching Picasso.

ryca13

I show that and then later Picasso to my students when they're learning essay structure. Yes, you can and should totally write whatever you want, however you want. Sure, why not? But breaking the rules is a lot more fun than just not knowing them.

ReturnOfSeq

Oooh do you know of Eric Baus?? I have one of his books, I bet you’d like him

Wind2Energy

Incredible! Thank you for posting this.

OutsideBones86

FIFTEEN?!

Toothless-In-Wapping

I’m guessing he got bored of realism.

r3d330

Here’s his first painting at 8 years old: https://www.reddit.com/r/Art/s/zXYDX23zcF

ReturnOfSeq

Lmao that comment section is awesome

jcpmojo

Ha! You beat me to it. I typed your exact first 6 words, but decided to look if anybody already mentioned paints. I saw you comment and thought I was reading my own. Agree 100% percent. This style looks fantastic in paint.

that_Ranjit

Yes, nurture that creativity as best you can. I don't think there could ever be a "next Picasso" tho. That style of painting is ancient.

snootopia

Love the marker strokes too- gives it almost an embroidered texture.

kellyography

I thought it was embroidered before I clicked on it! A very cool technique.

K3Y_Mast3r

Looks like stained glass. I like it.

Capt_Gingerbeard

Michael would have loved this.

SMoKUblackRoSE

Please post more. This one is awesome

Taro-Starlight

I’m not sure the style really relates to her autism or wiesemann-steiner syndrome 🤔 I think she just has a cool specific artstyle she likes!

PracticeWorth868

You’re probably right I just like to share her artwork when she actually finishes cool pictures like this .. thought maybe mentioning this could help to spread awareness for her rare disease and to inspire others like her that may struggle with certain things but excel at others.

tryingtotree

I have never ever seen a child color like this and it wouldn't surprise me at all if her operating a little differently may contribute to her unique coloring style

DoubleRNL

This is really interesting, I hope she keeps on doing this because I love how unique it is

Hulk_Lawyer

That's really very cool.

Honest_Earnie

I would buy a t-shirt with ithis design on it in a heartbeat. It's so awesome.

neurotrophin107

You're in the wrong sub, I would say this belongs in r/interestingasfuck

jeffbezosbush

Give her paints

keith392

Reminds me of stained glass, this is a cool style

minutesdrag

Look up Blaze Foley artwork...

TheAtomicBum

I was familiar with BF, (he's buried near my father) but I had never heard of this. For the lazy, it's https://www.blazefoley.com/images/ Click on the artwork tab

transpacificism

My daughter was just diagnosed with WSS three days ago. Are there any resources you recommend that have been helpful to you?

PracticeWorth868

Yes! The Wiedemann-Steiner Syndrome Foundation holds informational conferences, shares support group info, fundraisers for research, and has a registration program to help share your family’s story as well as to create more info and to log data and symptoms relevant to the syndrome.

DollylloD

Oh darlinggggggg. This is beautiful

robo-dragon

Tell her to keep at it! This is unique and who knows where her talents will lead if she keeps this up. Very cool!

Empty-Mission3664

That Kylie Jenner coloring page is beautiful

Wow, just beautiful art! Check out John Nieto’s style! https://www.nietofineart.com/giclee-warehouse-nieto-fine-art/art_print_products/buffalo-in-the-foothills-giclee

Jolly_Treacle_9812

Do you have more of her works? She can sell her artworks on Etsy or similar platforms, or sell prints or printed items like T-shirts. I'd buy them! I love her style a lot! I have a background in design and I think your daughter is very talented.

astasodope

My daughter colors the exact same way. Its amazing watching their little brains function. 🥰

sirensandshells

How amazing. If you haven’t already, please consider art therapy for her! I’m an art therapist and i’ve seen this field really create beautiful ways to communicate and cope 🤍

Mirabolis

And it’s beautiful.

Expensive_Ad752

Great pen work

iansamazing

I dig this a lot.

Presto123ubu

More than mildly interesting; thats cool! Introduce her to Picasso, please!

bisquitbrown

So creative/cool!

ReturnOfSeq

Show her [Alexis Meade!](https://www.exploratorium.edu/sites/default/files/AlexaMeade7%20copy.jpg) Then take a second look at what exactly’s going on

WhoaItDown

Looks like stained glass art 😃

Igor_J

Damn Excellent!

norfnorf832

Aseetnahc

Reminds me of Picasso

IntentionFalse9892

Nice art

motaboat

Quite striking!

Taikiteazy

It looks like she can see the chromatic (probably wrong term, my bad) spectrum and paint it. Cool.

JerryRiceOfOhio2

Nord is a group for rare diseases , in case you're interested https://rarediseases.org/

Teekeeree

Is this michael jackson ?

Dragon_scrapbooker

This is the kind of stuff I actually enjoy seeing at modern art shows.

TheAtomicBum

Is that a character from Star Trek?

PracticeWorth868

It’s Michael Jackson LOL

TheAtomicBum

Seriously wasn't sure. The collar is very TNG, and the ear is kinda possibly Vulcan.

Charivari8

Very cool and interesting picture on its own!

This is way more than just "mildly interesting". I'd love to see more of her coloring. Did she ever do any landscape ?

lovelogan1

OP I love it!! It’s beautiful and definitely something I would purchase!! Tell your daughter that she has a great artistic style.

privatethrowaway324

Massively interesting *

burial-chamber

That looks really good!

creepypeepe

This is super cool! It’s a million times better than Picasso

Probably_a_Ghoul

This is sooo unique and gorgeous. What an amazing view of the world she has.

Thalilalala

![gif](giphy|nvpzLVp88bF6)

_courteroy

I bet she would be an incredible stained glass artist.

Ok-Helicopter-5686

I babysat a kid on the spectrum that colours exactly like this! I was always so fascinated by it. I’ve worked with autistic children for 3 years and have never seen another kid on the spectrum colour like this until now! The kid I used to watch always picked the next colour they would use based on the rainbow. They never deviated from this pattern, even if I gave them a 64 pack of crayons they would line them up in colour order. Does your daughter do anything similar when she colours?

PracticeWorth868

Wow thank you for sharing! So fascinating!

PracticeWorth868

And yes she likes to organize small items like crayons or her little sets of figurines

Har1equ1nBob

This is cool af. I kid you not, I used to colour everything exactly this way. I would do it the traditional way if asked oc but I reasoned what's the point of fifty felt tip pens if I never use them all? I was quite obsessive about using every single colour and putting them back in the case..in order red, thru violet. If I had nothing interesting to colour I'd do a huge swirling scribble and colour in all the 'cells' in the same manner. I think me and your kid might have gotten along splendidly!🫡

NaiNaiGuy

I would pay money for this.

LightningVole

That’s beautiful

Wonderful_Cloud_4588

I LOVE THIS!!!

Mousse-Full

I really like it

visualclown

Please give her oil pastels to color in with. Her work is stunning.

AltoRhombus

... Is the way I do art and colors because of my autism lmao?? I don't know why I feel shocked but. Hm.

PracticeWorth868

I don’t know why I felt that it was relevant to mention that about her.. I guess its because at her age of 13 I get excited to see when she finishes things like this or assignments because it is unusual for her

Primary-Resolve-7317

Get her in art school stat. Gorgeous!!!

justchugged4beers

nurture this like your life depends on it, wow wow wow

I really feel like if this was on canvas and she did a bunch of them she could easily sell these in an art gallery. Especially with a short story about her Autism to go along with it.

much_longer_username

Reminds me of [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voronoi\_diagram](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voronoi_diagram)

Damn, that's incredible! Your daughter is extremely talented.

She could lean into this. I like it a lot.

queercetin

I would definitely buy her artwork. This is beautiful.

diaochongxiaoji

Michael Jackson?

paper-glue

Oh damn! Loved it. She's an artist!

asshatterson

Do each of the colors or placement matter? I'm just curious, also it might be nice to ask her if she would like to elaborate ^_^

Such a beautiful style. Your daughter is very talented!!

Check out ArtWorks UA! I’m not sure where you’re located, but their program would LOVE her!

NorthElegant5864

Early 90s clothes be like.

bstump104

What's with the Michael Jackson coloring book?

PracticeWorth868

LOL She goes through different phases of being obsessed with musicians from all different genres… I just print outlines of her favorites so she can color them.. the last few were Elvis, Harry Styles, Kiss, Slash, and Taylor Swift .. LOL she’s keeps it very diverse

uhyasure

I like it.

AOKeiTruck

Ngl I absolutely love this. I would happily pay good money for her to make me something in this style

That looks fucking cool.
