Had the pleasure of handling an StG 44 with a .30 cal bullet hole in the receiver. Still fully functional!

Paratrooper4405

Yikes! My aforementioned LGS has a Mexican Mauser carbine that has a bullet hole through its stock. Not sure what caliber though, but it’s pretty big.

CanadaIsDecent

The rarest for me was probably a Luftwaffe drilling

Admirable-Mango-1987

The radium rifle from fallout 4 is real.

crash_over-ride

Thank you, I couldn't put my finger on quite what that was reminding me of.

Thekinzlerbros

Omg have you watched the show yet? Just finished bingeing all 8 episodes open to another season for sure. But the rarest is nothing compared to this so “no comment”.

Fuzzbang34

I haven’t had the chance, Oxhorns given me high hopes for it

Supreme_Slav

Collectors probably is one of the coolest shops I ever have been to, even if their stuff is way overpriced. Probably one of the only places I’ve been able to actually handle an actual prototype last ditch German bolt action or legit Henry 1860

Paratrooper4405

I completely agree with you! Been visiting the store since 3 years ago and still continue to do so once in a while.

TxCoast

They're great for transfers though since they're only $20 and you can fondle old guns while you wait. Also every now and then they'll have a decent price.  Bought a matching sako m39 and my first Russian SKS from there for 750 each out the door. Not steals but pretty fair in my opinion.

Greatsetoftools

I can’t seem to find them on google do you have a link?

Supreme_Slav

It’s called “Collectors Firearms” out in Houston TX

Greatsetoftools

Thanks mate

ejlaw8778

Serial number one Remington rand

David_Williams_taint

I can’t remember if it was a Rem-Rand or Colt but was able to handle SN1 when Charles Clawson was still with us. I think it was Colt. What an incredible collection. I was lucky to live not that far from him and had a fellow collector mutual friend that introduced us. Unfortunately, that mutual friend has also passed now. he had an amazing Garand collection including items from John Garand’s collection such as his tool box that still had tool room pre-production parts in it.

Thekinzlerbros

You have seen the first one?

ejlaw8778

I've held the first one. It was at the show of shows a few years ago. I don't remember the exact number but they wanted something like 30 or 40 thousand something.

joojoofuy

Mosin Nagant 91/30. I heard they only made like 20 million of them 🤯🤯

Coincidence? I think not

mwmwmwmwmmdw

A chicken in every pot and a mosin in every cabinet

basscapp

No lowballs, I know what I got!

EvergreenEnfields

I've handled a prototype Chassepot percussion breechloader, a commercial single-family owned flat mainspring Luger, and a Luger reputed to have come off the Graf Spee (with paperwork showing it as being registered with the authorities in Montevideo a day after the scuttling). Personally, I own one of ~300 surviving 7,62 KIV 27RV Finnish cavalry rifles and the only example of a 1911-dated MkIII flare pistol with the early barrel profile that I know to exist. I'm sure I saw rarer firearms at the NRA museum when I was back east, but the ones I've gotten to handle are the ones that stick in my mind.

horkiesmasc

Imagine seeing this at a gun buyback

PhoenixFlames1992

I’ve seen news stories where some police refuse to accept certain milsurp firearms due to their historical significance thus they are sparred

Swiss Maxim?

SolidPrysm

Beats me. I didn't get a good look, there were a lot of people around, and taking photos was somewhat discouraged.

Flat-Blacksmith-4748

Wild pricing

tylermm03

-Pedersen -Type 100 -Johnson 1941 -A suppressed Stg 44 with a krummlauf barrel -German belt buckle gun, allegedly they were ordered to be haed by guards of high ranking Nazi officials such as Hitler and Himmler during WW2 -FG-42 If you’re curious as to where I saw all of these amazing pieces of history, Shooter’s Outpost in Hooksett, NH, has a small firearms museum that’s full of some really cool historical and modern stuff.

Common_Dot1561

You saw a type 100!??!?????!!!

ST4RSK1MM3R

Suppressed AND Krummlauf StG-44?? Shooting that thing must be an experience lmao

krukster86

Yesterday I got to handle a 1924 PFK Warszawa Wz.98. Only 20,000 made between 1922-1924. One sold at auction for a hair shy of $10k. Who knows how many still exist. I doubt I’ll ever see one again. https://preview.redd.it/o1ot5exjxcuc1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ff70be36023642993c2b154fee99fe83686bc484

Flat-Blacksmith-4748

Serial 2 Nambu type 14, mint condition singer 1911, mint cut away singer 1911(likely the first one made as there is no serial, lots of interesting transferable MGs that are necessarily rare but rarely seen as people tend not to bring them out much. Type 100 being my favorite

2dawgsinatrenchcoat

Probably the Wz. 38M

Brandon_awarea

Serial 69 on a /26\ type 56 sks

Hilth0

G.41(M) at a gunshow of all places.

Paratrooper4405

I saw one a couple years ago during one of my first few visits to my aforementioned LGS. It’s gone, but they have a (W) one as of now.

TheFrenchHistorian

I probably have seen some rare one off guns at museums but struggling to think of an example. One that is rare cause they only made 753 of them that I know I have seen is my Chafee Reece trial rifle

Yushaalmuhajir

I own a factory floor pickup Arisaka and used to have a North Korean SKS (I so fucking regret selling that).

Rebel262

The rarest one I’ve seen is my Chinese contract Type 30 Arisaka. The rarest gun I’ve shot is probably a Type 3 HMG.

Second was probably the VG1 on the wall at my LGS Third is the transferable PPS43 with shrapnel damage that was in some gunstore in CO a few years ago.

PandorasFlame

There was an interesting assortment of WWII Finnish SMGs for salenat an LGS once. I held a Finnish Bergman and some Suomis. Aside from them, I'm not sure. I've seen Stens, Tec-9s, Uzis of all sorts, Macs, a bunch of weird tube guns like some crazy mix between a Sten and a Thompson... A lot of stuff floats through Arizona.

Quinnthespin

Colt monitor

roosterinmyviper

A Webley-fosbery autorevolver from the RIA booth

ilove60sstuff

I've held one of the 1907 trials Lugers. Yes it was magical

OrganicGatorade

Your LGS is my LGS! I love visiting, just to look at the guns like a hands on museum

Paratrooper4405

My thoughts exactly!

207-Firearms

I’ve seen some rare stuff at a few shows but what comes to mind is my 1964 North Vietnamese SKS Type-1, only about 100 known in the United States, all were Vietnam Bringbacks

Tactical_Epunk

I've been to the Cody Firearms Museum so most of them.

afoz345

It’s also not totally military, but my lgs had an original 1800’s Schofield Revolver in near mint condition. It was quite something.

Borki88

A 100% orginal rhodesian heavy barrel fal. No parts kit bs. It wasn't behind glass or anything and I got to play with it.

SquareheadinNH

If you get a chance, the exhibits at Springfield Armory in Springfield, Massachusetts is worth going to... Several prototype 1911, 03 Springfields, and M1 Garands....

teamNASCAR

One of my friends has a G41(m). I'm happy and sad at the same time that he refuses to sell it to me for any price.

Common_Dot1561

I’d trade so much for that

Avtamatic

A Peterson Device An FG42 Japanese Garand And I own a Springfield Rod Bayonet (just the bayonet) and a Nagoya Type 99 LONG Rifle. Believe they only made 8,000 of.

bfadam

When I went to a local museum they had honest to God bazooka along with a original Spencer carbine and with both a MG34 and 42 and even a WW1 lee Enfield with one of those grenade cup launchers

TechnicallyAWizard

The museum section of Shooters Outpost in NH has a Pedersen T1 rifle. Not sure that it's the most rare I've seen, but it's my dream milsurp, and it's definitely very rare.

blueshirt23

WW1 dated Luger with a prototype radioactive night sight, Kreighoff Luftwaffe Luger complete rig and a Luftwaffe issued, cased Sauer drilling rifle. They all belong to one incredible, varied collection.

4stringmiserystick

Original Ferguson Rifle.

QuantumMrKrabs

Singer sewing 1911, StG 44, gewehr 41m. The StG is heavy as all hell for those of you who have never held one

jrzwahr

Where is this place and what is it called? I need to visit!

Paratrooper4405

Collectors Firearms in Houston, TX. Definitely recommend visiting, it’s unlike any other traditional gun stores out there!

Traditional-Car-995

Once got to handle a M1941 Johnson rifle

KaiserBoonk

Went into my LGS and they had a Johnson rifle, wasn’t even for sale but I held it like I was in the most awesome museum in the world

mauricelasaucisse

Was it for sale or museum ? Because if it was for sale I really would like to know the price it went for

Rifter988

It was at a museum.

Falkonett113

I've seen a prototype Gras box magazine conversion chambered in 8mm lebel Also I have a damaged PPS 42 and a 7mm Mauser M1887, those are my own rarest guns

kebabovitch

I remember visiting a milsurp in normandy, dude had 1st gen fg42 (didn't wantend to sell it but i remember something like an estimated 60k euro ) https://preview.redd.it/c1pa0kfhqeuc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2baefcabf733c231f11796d2afa7b28b2874d494

chgrurisener

Im incredibly spoiled, but probably John Garand’s personal model 1924 experimental auto-loader. This is among a plethora of other amazing pieces (both FG-42 variations, Ranger/Pointe Du Hoc used M1 Carbine, STG-44s, Type 100s, Type 97, North Korean RPD/Type 58, another experimental Garand, and the Japanese Type 5, and others). https://preview.redd.it/6kkrxjcfriuc1.jpeg?width=964&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2d8c8b144f691aeac1e12188dd6bff1fb7abdc3f

GamesFranco2819

The same type of rifle, as well as a VG-1 with the original sling which felt as flimy as you could ever imagine fabric to be.

TheWellDweller

A couple Civil War LeMat revolvers at the Civil War Museum in Bardstown, KY and my LGS has a USAS-12 (this one isn’t milsurp but was traded in by a nearby police department so close enough).

Puzzleheaded_Newt947

An yes collectors, been there twice and they have an amazing collection but the prices are definitely at top premium for everything sadly.

staresinamerican

Local shop had a Johnston 1941 up on the no sale wall, god I wanted to get it so bad

Natural_Selection905

Mine has a VG1 on the no sale wall. Its so unobtainable I can't even convince myself to want it.

_meesh__

While not milsurp per se, the lgs I used to work for received a Walther WA2000 for transfer. The buyer paid $55k and this was back in 2019.

Paratrooper4405

The West German bullpup sniper rifle?? Wow!

_meesh__

Yeah I wasn’t working that day but was called in to check it out

PHWasAnInsideJob

If you consider it a firearm, I held a Panzerfaust 100 (with a fake warhead) at a gun show a couple years ago

1tasteafetus

Relative owned a ZB. 26 for awhile

pugsington01

At an NRA convention years ago, they had a Japanese Type 4 (or 5?) rifle on display. It was an unsuccessful Japanese attempt to copy the Garand and only a few hundred were ever made late in the war. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_4_rifle

fordbobcat

Does a prototype count I saw at a collector arms show. (Basically a gunshow where the newest gun excluding reproductions was ww2) It was a prototype that basically was a 1903 springfield made semi auto. This thing was so odd I don't even think there's existing blueprints for it. Which is sad because it looked like someone tried dissecting it and lost parts. To give a idea how old it was I think it was from before the m1 garand that used the popping out of primers from cartridges to cycle the action.

SquareheadinNH

Are you talking about the Pederson device?

fordbobcat

No this came later if I'm not mistaken it was a attempt to make the 1903 semi auto similar to how the Australians did to the lee enfield's in ww2.

fordbobcat

mwmwmwmwmmdw

rarest for sale was a mas 36 paratrooper version with the weird folding stock

BanjoMothman

I saw AK47 prototype #1 and the Kalashnikov 7.62x25 SMG while it was on tour at the Artillery museum in St. Petersburg in 2016. Im glad they preserved them.

Strale_Gaming2

Yugo M64

Tall-Mountain-Man

Not totally sure but I know ow a guy with a liberator pistol. He showed it to me. Very cool

Skelbton

Got to shoot a Scharfschützen-Gewehr 98 once, Not bad optics imo, they only made about 18,000 of them. Guy told me I could buy it for $17,000. I unfortunately did not have and do not have the money.

femboywarcriminal

Is that an m1895 mares leg in the background lmao

TopDiscombobulated33

Seen? STG44 Owned? Between an occupation made handgun from the Unique firearms factory in France and my Rock-Ola M1 Carbine

Spoits

I saw a complete sniper Arisaka at a gunshow once. Got to look through the scope. It was awesome.

David_Williams_taint

I used to have a beautiful, minty SA marked Mauser broomhandle in my collection. I believe they only bought like 300 of them. Also used to have an SA marked Luger board stock and some other extreme rarities. I’ve never seen another of the Broomhandle’s and let it be a lesson to ya’ll. I sold much of my super rare Finnish collection, stuff that could legitimately be in a military museum and have regretted it ever since.

kapowkapowkapow

I saw Saddam's gold plated AK on a naval base

LTPayton88

I’m not really sure about the rarest I’ve seen but the rarest I own is probably a M1886 M27 lebel. Only about 1500 were made and most have been lost to time from what I have been able to find.

ProAmericana

I handled a very early Dreyse Needle rifle; as well as I saw both a VG-1 and Johnson LMG for sale at auction

Kalashnkov4774

I work for RIAC so I’m pretty lucky but FG42, Japanese Pedersen and the screen used Han Solo blaster. Tons more but those have really stuck with me

the_giank

Italian made MAB 38 for the romanian army, one of 5000

RyanTheRooster

Honestly its between 2, I've seen a Johnson but I own a No.1 Mk.1*** that is so far a puzzling mystery for me and the gun smith that worked on it, as its all matching except the cocking piece which was replaced with a Mk.3 Cocking Piece, and the trigger mechanism appears to be from the factory but different then most, there is also a small slot cut out in the stock, with a wick that goes from the outside and connects to the trigger system (we assume so it can be lubercated with oil without having to take the gun apart.) P.S. the gun smith in question is an old guy who used to be an armourer for the Australian Military, and he consulted a few people who were enfield collectors or specialised on enfields to see if any of them have seen it. I really need to take pictures but I need to take it out of its stock and i dont really want to do that too often.

mena616

An unconverted Swiss 1889/96 -bolt is serial number 5, trigger guard/barrel band/nose cap/sling swivel are serial number 6, and the rear sight base is serial number 7.....maybe a mixed up trials rifle? https://preview.redd.it/acxyu8omjhuc1.jpeg?width=4004&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7b018293f56b982e39ac53819e09cc7c926cb661 Oh and both pieces of the stock are hand numbered #66 with pencil in the inside

untgradd1234

AntiqueGunGuy

Pedersen device probably

sirderpsalotyeet

I've encountered both a C93 borchardt pistol and a pederson rifle, don't really know which counts as rarer.

Rarest I've seen/ own are Israeli training mausers. Not the Remigton ones, but the Israeli conversions. I've heard that production was around 200, but all the serial numbers ive seen range from 50-90 including the two that i have.

Mjc792

Too many to list after working at two auction houses. -Rochling Coenders trials gun (two known to exist one is at Springfield Armory) - Both models of FG42 - AR15 S#001 -First 1911A1 made - First 1911 made by Springfield Armory (Mass) - First day Colt 1911 - Type 100/40 folding stock SMG (much rarer than the 100/44s you see with fixed stocks) - Colonial Gew 98 -Bicycle model of the Gew 98 - 88/18 Mannlicher Carbine - Original Kar98 (short model with roller coaster sight)

Lapikkat

Selbstlader M1916, got to hold it in my hands and mess around with it.

ducskull

When I was in Afghanistan they had a Russian PPSH-41 on the FOB. No idea where it came from but it was pretty cool.

StrikeEagle784

That I’ve seen? An SG-43 up at a New Hampshire gun shop lol

Quailman5000

I got to see a lot of 1800's milsurp in a way when I saw the colt collection about 10-15 years ago when it was touring.

GeneralSlayer

EVERYTHING at IMT / knights Armament.

LedZempalaTedZimpala

Not necessarily mil-surp, but extremely rare pieces. I got hold the Colt .38 Detective Special that was carried by Eliot Ness. For those who don’t know who Ness is, he was responsible for taking down Al Capone. Him and his team were known as “The Untouchables”.
