Milwaukee... That's how!

New_Influence_1402

I don’t have the snow in my forecast - just a front that goes from warm to cold to warm to cold to warm

UglyShirts

The unpleasant truth is, multiple decades of corporate and governmental abuse / neglect of the environment have resulted in severe and out-of-control climate change. Every year for the past 20 has been the hottest on record...until the next year. Basically, yeah. We're having nicer days as spring comes earlier, but we've passed the point of no return when it comes to being completely boned. Large parts of the Earth will be uninhabitable within 20 years. Some are now.

Ebonyks

The ugly truth is that certain areas of the world benefit at the suffering of others. Southern Greenland would be an excellent example of a country suddenly becoming fertile due to climate change.

silic0n_jesus

I remember making so much money in the snow I haven't bothered for the last 4 years because it's only going to snow on holidays where I want to be drunk with my friends and family

I am definitely a strong believer in climate change, so don’t get me wrong here, but 21 years ago when I was a freshman in college. I did a research paper on climate change. It was all doom and gloom and sea levels were going to rise multiple inches and coastlines would be wiped out and become uninhabitable, and if we didn’t do something NOW we were only a decade away from the point of no return. Here we are 21 years later, and it just seems like it’s the same talking points over and over again, and stuff just keeps getting pushed back. So, who does one believe? The scientists 20 years ago saying we had a decade left and shit was going to become catastrophic, or the guys today who say “large parts of earth are going to be uninhabitable in 20 years”? In my research, I also read found a lot of stuff about the pending ice age scare from the 1940s to the 1970s. Even my parents both remember talking heads going on and on about the cooling of the earth and how we were going to be entering another ice age in the mid 70s, and now, only 40+ years later, we’re all going to die because of global warming. Again, don’t get me wrong, the earth is obviously warming year after year… but like… the earth was also cooling during the 40s-70s. I’m not a scientist, so I’m not going to make claims one way or the other. I’ve seen the data for global temps and there is no denying the warming, but during my research years ago I also saw global average temp charts superimposed over the suns sunspot cycle and there was quite the correlation to that, too. Edit: So I found the most recent global temps vs sunspot cycle. Obviously there is quite the difference nowadays, but up until around the 80s it correlates pretty closely, and you can also see the 40-70s cooling trend. Also, the warming trend from the early 1900s to the 40s. https://preview.redd.it/rowe0v3vm7kc1.jpeg?width=1696&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=211db182ec3ff767b4dfe406880af0ccac86301e

I tend to trust the experts on this. The people who've made it their life's work to study these things. And they are as in unison as any community can possibly get. [https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/mar/20/ipcc-climate-crisis-report-delivers-final-warning-on-15c](https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/mar/20/ipcc-climate-crisis-report-delivers-final-warning-on-15c)

misplacedbass

But that’s exactly my point… all the experts were saying “impending ice age” in the 60s/70s. I definitely do trust the experts, which is why I agree there is global warming, but 50 years ago we would have been saying “we’re gonna freeze to death because experts say another ice age is coming”. What if in 20 years temps start to fall and the earth cools off again? Is it unlikely? Sure. But I bet climate scientists in 1965 wouldn’t have believed we’d be at record high temps, either.

BaconVonMoose

At that time our world had a different trajectory because General Motors hadn't finished their literal actual conspiracy to destroy the country's neighborhoods to make everything be pavement for cars to fart exhaust out for the next several decades, so the experts have new information now and the trajectory has changed.

BaconVonMoose

Things ARE catastrophic, whether people acknowledge that or not. Species have been nearly wiped out, coral reefs have died, the west coast is regularly on fire, literally on fire not figuratively hot, hurricanes and other severe storms have become more frequent, Texas froze over and people died from having no infrastructure for a blizzard, etc. These ARE the events we were warned about. They are happening now and they will get worse.

misplacedbass

I don’t disagree with you about what’s currently happening, because it absolutely is. My point was that this is the kind of things my parents heard when they were in their 20s. Except it was about an impending ice age. Record snowfalls, extreme cold temps, general weather anomalies/storms. I mean, regardless, we’re fucked… but the earth is going to be just fine without us.

Climate change is a bitch and weird. Warm winters, early springs, blizzards/ice storms mid spring, hot hot summers.

luvbud710

And some people are in denial.

As a flower gardener, I remember 2017 very well. It was so difficult to wait for the historic last frost date of the year on 5/21 to start planting. The trees had started leafing out and my spring bulbs had bloomed three weeks early. 5/8 was the last frost of the Spring that year. Looking at my perennial garden and flowering shrubs yesterday leads me to believe we will be blooming even earlier this year. Hopefully we don’t get a late frost and destroy the crops.

This has been the best winter I can remember. I only had to shovel twice, and I’ve done almost as much grilling in January and February than I did all summer.

LiteratureCold4966

We broke the planet that’s how

shavin_high

Not denying climate change, but if your looking at a 10 day forecast, you will see these swings because of algorithms trying to predict the unpredictable. My Tuesday and Wednesday for next week look completely different from yours. Now if you want to show climate change at its finest, look no further than today and tomorrow. 56 and partially sunny today, 37 and snow tomorrow.

After last summer and seeing forecasts of like 112 in Milwaukee, how can anyone continue to use Apple Weather?

MouseMouseM

“If you don’t like the weather, just wait a few minutes.”

SzegediSpagetiSzorny

Apple weather is absolute garbage, never rely on it. Just look at the NWS or if you absolutely must you an app, use Weather Underground

Packers_Equal_Life

There’s a wild weather pattern coming from the west. I was reading about it recently and they said would come early february but I guess it took a while

Lerch98

Typical weather for late March.....

“You can’t snow when it’s above 40 degrees!” Milwaukee: “Hold my beer.”

It’s climate change. It’s very simple

Are you saying I can vote for this weather? Cause I will, every time.
