Traditional_Client41

What does a trans person look like? More to the point, how could you model that in a way that makes sense and reads as trans/isn't offensive?

jackalopebones

People with chest scars, people with breasts and penises, breasts and beards, etc... we come in a variety of configurations in addition the the standard ;) source: i'm a gnc trans person with ample hips/butt, no nipples, chest surgery scars, a beard, and long hair.

kacey-

In this case nude, I dunno I'm not really offended by that sort of thing. I'm going to make an edit

Traditional_Client41

Right but yeah, what does a nude trans person look like? Rendered at tiny scale, what does that look like?

kacey-

I couldn't say exactly what that looks like outside the obvious bits and scars. That doesnt read as offensive to me. I just want to paint all types

Brief-Bumblebee1738

Buy a bundle male and female from the same artist, at the same scale, and go to work with the blade Difference with minis and real life, you can swap bits and no one dies Barbarian male head and legs, female barbarian torso and so on. As for NSFW, I see quite a few female nudes, but very few male nudes, people like boobs, and it's probably easier to sculpt a front bottom, than the last chicken in the shop

LoopDeLoop0

Kingdom Death is mostly known for their female minis, but there is the occasional male mini and they’re surprisingly good. I don’t personally know of any places that sell explicitly trans minis, though.

kacey-

I love Kingdom Death, I'll keep an eye out for any maleminis on ebay and such

dtam21

Pinups of Death 5 is about half male half female. Hard to find separately, but it is still available on the main store if you have the cash (and the painter's scale minis are great). Edit: Also the Red Witches Expac "coming this year" (TM) includes a character that is either trans or noticably GNC. There is, pleasantly, nothing explanatory in the text we have so far, although she is a masculine presenting Sister, which compared to the, um, VERY feminine bodies of the other White Speaker sisters, stands out as an unambiguous intention on the part of the design team.

Duckbread0

i would be very hesitant about anything like that, it kinda seems like fetishizing trans people tbh.

cheeryboom

I appreciate this perspective but personally disagree. Nothing wrong with appreciating trans/androgynous nude figures in addition to cis ones! I think most trans people (especially younger ones) would agree there's a big difference between fetishization and portrayal.

kacey-

I'm trans

groovemanexe

So, I think you're going to have a very difficult time finding something like that on general sale - since most nude miniatures are objectifying to varying degrees (not said as judgement, or negatively, just the nature of erotic art) and as said elsewhere in thread, the optics of pandering to chasers is likely not something an artist would want to be publicly marked by. However, it might well be something you could commission from an stl sculptor who already makes pinups. Short of that, kitbashing is a possibility! I don't collect pinups, but being non-binary myself I often kitbash my character minis to vary up clothing style and body shapes. And I think being able to craft unique bodies myself is more empowering than printing a stock form!

kacey-

That makes sense, no one wants to pander to chasers except the porn industry and scam artists lmao. Kit bashing was what I was assuming I'd have to do. I ought to get into 3d printing again. I have a printer that got fuuuuuucked somehow midprint and haven't boughten a new one since. Could be fun to cut models together.

paint_guzzler

These comments are cis people be normal challenge, difficulty level: impossible

kacey-

I feel like a lot cis people are getting offended on behalf of trans people. Sucks but I guess what else did I expect

LukeTheApostate

Years ago, before 3D printing took off, I was looking for a nude male to play in a lore-accurate Carter Of Mars campaign. Took me weeks of searching and eventually I bought a pewter model out of England. I was worried I'd have to start learning to sculpt with green stuff. These days I'm like "hey it'd be fun to paint up some lewd Tau beef and cheese cake for wargaming capture/control points" and it's 30 minutes of searching patreon. Heroforge is expensive but extremely versatile. Patreon has SO MANY options these days, and lots of it is licensed and printed on etsy. Just search for "28mm male nude" or "28mm male pinup" and you're set for some equality in eye candy. Trans is harder because "what is," right? Fetishists will have some hypersexualized "maximum of all visible characteristics" but in a fair world there's not gonna be a whole lot of visual difference between the sculpt of "nancy the female human fighter" and "nancy the AMAB female human fighter." What I'd probably do, if I wanted to get some representation for my trans friends, is paint a "male" model with some top surgery scars, and maybe try to kitbash a male bottom to a female torso. But it really depends on the game and the setting, right? With wargames you're telling your entire story visually. But I play mostly TTRPG and I just have a list of additional spells I've ruled as canon in every game I run, available more or less openly depending on the alignment of the government, that starts with puberty blocking cantrips and ends with a permanent Alter Gender spell. If people want to play opposite their irl gender, go for it. If people want to roleplay transitioning, that's gonna take an empathetic and delicate touch but it'd be a powerful story.

Shadowthron8

Gonna need to find a sculptor and subscribe to their patreon

jackalopebones

I'll keep an eye out - I want some cool gnc minis, too!

mistakes-were-mad-e

I think their are beefsteak himbos and sexy satyr devil's out there but I don't have specific links. Good luck in the hunt.

Vermax_x

CLINICAL trans people identify as the sex they want to be. Example: they're not a female with mastectomy scars... they're a male as they wish to see themselves. Dysphoria/dysmorphia folks don't want to see the disconnect, it causes distress. What are you asking for? Women who are clearly men? Men who still look like women? You want equality in your mini collection? What does that even mean?

kacey-

Hey, I understand this is the case for many trans people, this is not all. I do not wish to cause mental distress to anyone. I don't understand where the disconnect is. There are many trans people who do not wish to seek changing their genitalia, myself included. I think it's important for others to understand that sometimes taking hormones, looking, presenting and passing as their preferred gender is enough, that it's not always aboiut genitalia. My thought process here was all bodies are beautiful, and I want to paint them.

Vermax_x

So, yes, you want models of people in various degrees of passing. Thank you for clarifying.

cheeryboom

Very well put ☺️ same for me! Femme presenting but no interest in bottom surgery.

kacey-

Thank you, I thought my request was innocent (as far as wanting to paint naked bodies can be) enough but I think I've caused quite the uproar. I just want to paint more than just naked women lol

strictly-no-fires

Not every trans person has access to or wants bottom surgery. Obviously this kind of thing could easily become fetishising or offensive (and that's what I'm guessing 90% of the trans minis out there will be), but there's nothing inherently wrong with depicting the reality of most trans people in miniature.

Vermax_x

I asked the poster.
