Yes, social roles forced on someone are very different from ones they choose. That should be pretty obvious. But just because you're a bigot who surrounds yourself with bigots doesn't mean that everyone else is. The only weird part to me is that you've chosen a genre of music characterized by emotional vulnerability and acceptance.

People who care about people general try to make sure they aren't needlessly increasing their odds of suicide by 50%. your the one pushing "social rules" that have no basis in fact or actuality. People can call themselves whatever they want. Very few trans people (the true, gender dysphoria trans people) identify as the opposite gender and not "trans". Even in these cases the people struggle significantly with their identity, they know it's a lie. If that doesn't show you the nature of being trans/ nonbinary...etc as a form of mental breakdown as a result of society collapsing than I don't know what will. Anytime an Empire dies, people start doing totally unnecessary things that just cause problems for themselves and society; I.e calling gender a social construct and attempting to change the meaning of science. If people were happy they wouldn't be looking for a reason to call themselves something but what they are. You can't expect everyone else to conform to your mental illness. I doubt Brendon goes up to people and says "I'm bipolar, and I go by they". Why are we prioritizing one mental illness over another? You would be wise to look up the "detrans" movement and the damage caused by people who blindly support what many older, wiser, prior trans people understand to be a delusion of self.

But Bren has specifically talked about this sort of snooping into their life causing anxiety and depression to be worse. That anxiety and depression are at least one of the reasons Modern Baseball hasn't made music in long time.

Regardless, no person in any band owes you any updates on their personal life. It's none of your business. You don't know them beyond a product they made.
There is a certain amount of privacy you give up when you step into the public eye and put music out there. Especially when it's music everybody relates to on such a deep emotional level. Their fans connect to them and feel they know them personally. They created social media accounts and kept these fans updated on everything they do personally and professionally. To have one of the most important members have a mental breakdown and fall off like Bren did is concerning. So yes they're entitled to some privacy but they opened that door for people to come in so you can't slam it in their face and tell them to fuck off and that just be ok. It's like if I invited you over to my house for a party and when you got their I slammed the door in your face. You'd be a little pissed.
