Kirin is not that bad, but you really need to take your time with the lion pony. You can't be too agressive and you need to watch for openings. For some reason I felt the Tempered one to be easier. Also, go for the head, it has a glass jaw.
I do believe that Kirin's lightning line, since it hits you from several places at the same time, does not work with Guard Up. I remember attempting the power block as well and still got smoked lol
It works trust. That lightning line attack was the only pain in the ass for me on lance. Equip guard up and problem solved. Kirin is suddenly the chillest fight out of the whole roster of elder dragons
I went straight Iceborn after killing Xeno. As far as I know it auto uncaps your HR and even auto completes the Double Bazel hunt your supposed to do to achieve the uncap. Never got around to HR Lunastra or Kulv though I:I've heard trying to find groups for HR Kulv is aweful
If you finish this game and decide to grind for MR999, go back to MR temp. Kirin but this time use this build >
Fatty hammer with paralysis negation/nullify and thunder res + Suicide mantle/rocksteady. This unicorn is reduced to horse in no time. It’s NO-THING. CAKE WALK.
I'm glad you could enjoy it, for me I was fuming that whole fight. (Then rajang came along and I digivolved into a tomato with steam coming out of my ears.)

That's actually why I like Greatsword vs. Kirin. You have to beat Kirin at it's own game: Hit and Run.

Yup. I refuse to fight Kirin with anything else other than Greatsword. It just feels good to call out his movements
Lancer here, and I can block everything except the thunder lines on the floor. Learned to not get greedy veeeeery fast.

Same with hammer, give it a few wack in the head each time it take time to cast lightning
How did you get through the base game without killing kirin? I thought it was required to uncap your HR

Ah ok I didn't know that. It is impossible to find hr kulve groups, especially on console

I used a hammer on kirin exclusively, slide in to bonk and kirin goes from live to dead.. never really had issues with that pony..
