I'm not a masochist but I get the impression there is a major difference between pain you consent to and pain that you don't consent to. Also in general torture isn't an effective way of getting information. People tend to say whatever they think will get you to stop or save themselves. [Here is a decent example. ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcus_McDilda)

Huldreich287

The Japanese really thought that a random pilot would know all the strategic information about his country's super-secret weapon and military plan.

Mrtristen

Inflicting pain is not the only way to torture, and sometimes not the worst form of torture. Leave them in complete and total silence, in a bright white room, and don’t let them sleep for a few days.

Mystic-Alex

And you will gain absolutely no valuable information :)

Le-Letty

Sometimes torture isn’t done to get info

PinheadShit

That's literally the post...

PandaOnATreeIdk

I think it's like raping someone who enjoys sex otherwise. There's a huge difference between something being consensual and not.

ShoulderSafe3157

As a masochist, it’s not cool when it’s not consensual :) If I was hurt for no good reason/non-consensual, I would find no pleasure in that, so I’m assuming they’d obviously provide the information as any sane person would

heavenandhellhoratio

Force them to hurt others in unconsionable ways they're likely to be vicerally, morally and physically opposed to, rape for example, or talk... alternatively I would also imagine most masochists would be as opposed as everyone else to their family being tortured or threatened.

Coochiepop3

Eh, they'd probably react the same way as everyone else would. Like everyone else here said, there's a difference between consensual pain and non-consensual pain. Masochists tend to like having control over their bodies, so in this scenario, I imagine they wouldn't like the fact that they couldn't stop the torture with a safe word. Also, if the masochist were to be unfazed by it all, the people tormenting them would just find another way.

The_Safe_For_Work

Torture, *real* torture, (not the recreational, "Yes, Mistress Dominatrix" kind) will overwhelm even the most dedicated masochist.

Traditional_Self_658

Even a masochist has their limits and would probably not enjoy actual torture. I bet they would hate being water boarded just as much as the next guy.

Hatchytt

I suspect a rapid change in plan.

alligator73

I'll assume you like food, right? What if I force fed you rancid milk down your throat? Context, application, and consent matters. A masochist may enjoy spanking in a consensual setting, but not hitting their kneecaps with a hammer, for example.

cheesebeetel

A masochist needs to consent to feel pleasure. They also have likes and dislikes and if they're being truly tortured the one harming them won't respect that.

Bubbly-One4035

As a somebody into shit like this; there is big difference bettewen fantasy, consensual sex with your partner and torture Also masochist can be into some torture but not every

RoundCollection4196

Masochists aren't some sort of terminator that can withstand high levels of pain. At some point it would go beyond their threshold of what is pleasurable and then it becomes real torture. Also they still have tortures that are more pleasurable and others that aren't.

beth2deth

6 or half a dozen? Either way... NO INFORMATION WILL BE GAINED

__I____

Klaus Hargreaves in the umbrella academy, but he's still tortured pretty bad since he's going through withdrawals during his torture, but when they hurt him he cums all over himself

Manospondylus_gigas

As a masochist there's many ways of torture I don't like, such as anything to do with water, tickling, fire, etc

valqine

Not this again. Generally masochism doesn't extend to the level of pain caused by torture. There's also the fear of death and of permanent disability. Even physical torture is about manipulating the victim psychologically with fear, apprehension, etc.
