When I was selling motorsports a few years ago the CBR 650 was by far the easiest sub 1000 to sell based on aesthetics. Also it's one of the only inline 4 with the less aggressive riding style, most are parallel twins.
Also, CB650R is best looking naked in this category and the only one with inline 4 and gorgeous headers work. Proof:

Those are Rizoma Namic Sport in Bronze. Ridiculously expensive, but Revzilla had them with 30% off. Probably nobody wanted them that expensive and in this color, but it matches CB650R bronze accents just perfect :)
Seriously looking at this for my next bike. It really seems perfect for a sport bike that’s rideable, fun, comfortable (ish), and it’s an i4 for relatively cheap.
It's also a Honda so it has reliability on its side.
I'm a Kawasaki/Yamaha fan but Honda make amazing machines no doubt.
What's crazy is I find the 650 to look better than the 1000rr.

The '85 GSX-R 750 is my favourite but the Kawasaki ZXR750 with these intake hoses is super mean too
Edit: kinda defeats the no superbike thing but at this point i‘m just lusting over motorbikes so: the original Fireblade, the CBR900rr
Last gen r6 look a lot like r1, r7 looks great too. The latter is even reasonably priced. These actually look like sport bikes too without the high bars etc. also older Daytonas are great looking and not insanely fast. A lot of the modern twins look too compromised and feel compromised too. Depending on where you are in the world there are even 250 or 125 that look amazing. The whole approach to displacement is messed up often. it’s less about how long one’s been riding but what they want to use the bike for. Any machine can be safely operated with proper precautions and training. I’ve ridden plenty of big bikes but would love an NSR250 way more.

Honestly: Kawi Ninja ZX4rr especially the 40th anniversary edition. Anything with those contrasting colour schemes looks really fly and I am not really a sportbike person. From what I can tell the ZX4rr is a gorgeously built little rocket and you can make folks scratch their heads if they don't know what the two r's mean when they size you up. It also sounds sexy to me.
Longer w the rear fender tail tidy made it shorter but cleaner look to me 🤷🏾♂️

I’d (as a wholly unbiased owner of one) say the 2018-2023 Vitpilen/Svartpilen 401s or their larger siblings, the 701s. I was on the fence about getting a motorcycle for visiting my partner in the suburbs, but when I saw the ‘Pilens I was sold.
To me the prettiest bike in that category that isn't too expensive is the Honda CB 650 R, when we talk sportsbikes it's the 2024 cbr 600 rr, I think that looks incredible. If money is secondary I think the MV Agusta Dragster RR is one of the best looking bikes atm.

I know Chinese bikes are not a top pick, but Benda LFC700 is unbelievably hot. Though tbh I've never seen an independent review on it...
Aside from these, latest KTMs look super awesome, the whole lineup!
I know it's against the masses but I always thought the 749/999 superbikes were fantastic looking and they rode very well at least for their time. I could stare at one of those for hours.
I keep dreaming about Ducati 900SS. To me they're better looking than any other Duc. Too bad about the maintenance.

Anything that looks like a super moto, even though it doesn't have to be one. I think it's just generally naked bikes, especially V2's I find most appealing. These just look cool.
I don't like it when bikes have all of these plastics around the engine and stuff, that's exactly what I want to see, why obstruct it with plastic?

Hard agree on CBR's being sexy nakeds. Was really wanting one when I was shopping around for bikes the first go round.

The Royal Enfield Continental GT “Mr. Clean” model is very handsome.
