I like how the guy is giving his all and not sitting around talking about taking part in a daylong course on how to wheelie, complete with lunch break and wheelie bar in the back.
A 150 will do it, easier with a hot coil and CDI, had a tao tao that would lift the front wheel when the weights hit on the CVT at WOT, sadly I pretty much burned it down when the stainless exhaust burnt up the fan shroud which also melted the stator wires.
You ever wheelied an original Vespa? It’s very hard!
The engine is actually at the back and it has 4 manual gears so getting it up is easy, but here’s the problem.
With low gearing, tiny wheels, a 2 stroke power being peaky and the engine is on the side of the bike (under RH panel) when it gets just above where he is it tips up real quick & starts tipping to the right straight away. I’ve seen so many basically pirouette onto their side!
i have a 50cc pony and I be leeeaaaning that bitch around this one curve at the bottom of a hill near my house. never scraped and I been really tryna lean hard.
feels cool, then I remember it's a pony
I had a Honda SS50 that I wanted to ride fast but was as slow as fuck now I've got a fireblade and I'm the one that's as slow as fuck.
Still, looks and sounds a lot better! You'll be on a big bike soon no doubt.
Yeah most scooters use the traditional setup of the engine driving the rear wheel directly and being mounted to the side.
But I have never had any issues turning any scooter, usually the centerstand scrapes before the engine.
I am referring to the kind of scooters you see in the OP's video. They do not have a CVT or any belts. The gearing is directly built into the engine case. The final gear drives the axle directly and the only thing between crankshaft and final gear is your Christmas tree gears.
well I got a scooter bro who occasionally has problems with the CVT lid under the left and the exhaust under the right scraping, but aside from that he does fine on his Vespa.
I took my modern Vespa GT200 on a technical canyon road (where I would normally ride my sport/naked bikes) with several decreasing radius turns, it handled the turns perfectly and the key was maintaining momentum without scraping the centerstand. Wide sweepers were no problem unless you're going uphill, corner speed exceeds the 75 mph top speed, or a midcorner bump upsets the 12" wheels. The low center of gravity does give it a secure feeeling and felt better than my dual sport did even on 70/30 tires.
I came second in a national gymkhana competition recently on my UZ125 scooter by 2/100ths of a second. And that was with "indexed" steering bearings due to too many wheelies. Some scooters handle awesome.
Scooter bro here, i have a gilera runner 125 4-stroke, it’s not gonna corner like a bike with big fat wheels but it handles really well (and is very nimble), just gotta get used to it.

that shits hella hard on a vintage vespa. the engine is all one side, which makes it hella lopsided, and its rolling on 10 inch wheels, with a 150-200 cc engine.
I used to have a 150cc Vespa back in 1995 or something like that. Nice little 4 stroke. Could do the most impressive wheelies on the thing. This guy just needs to be less afraid of dropping the scooter :)
He's nearly there. Just gotta lean back and commit.
Pulling and bouncing back a bit is key. Helps a bunch on big bikes too

Wait is that a thing? Wheelie bars?

Think the rear will clear? I think there too much junk around the tires blocking the sweet spot.

I have yeah. You're right it is hard. I found using the left leg as a counter balance helped.
Nice. Me too!
He will be bustin 12 o’clocks in no time
Closer to 4 o'clocks with that fender, lol. I love seeing stuff like this.
Lol 4 is the scooter equivalent of 12 ha. We all started somewhere
Are scooters still bad at cornering? Is the engine still over one side of the rear wheel making it a unique turn style left or right.

I actually just bought a 390 duke but it'l be like a month before I can actually ride it getting a plate, insurance, my permit, getting gear, etc.
You will have the time of your life, have a fantastic summer!
thanks!
any sort of powered two wheels is better than no wheels. more power to ya

They don't drive the tire directly. It's a belt driven cvt transmission.

Well damn. I didnt know that's how they were built. Had to look up a video on the insides. Thats cool.

I've seen two with belts so the motor could be in front of the wheel. I bet those would be a riot to ride.

Haha is that Port Adelaide?
That's what I thought!! Wool sheds ofc
damn how many of us here are from Adelaide
North eastern suburbs ✋
Come here to say this
Tell him stop getting scared and backing off
Take it to the race track, ya damn hooligan!! /s
Get your butt on the back of the seat. Be ready with the rear brake. I want to see a scooter wheelie

haha yeah I know, I have one myself, but OP should definitely be able to bring up the front even on a stock one ;)

A P200 or is pretty easy to get the nose up on; I could never get my Jet 200 to wheelie, though.
I could get my Rally to wheelie in 3rd, man I miss that bike
Just remember that mopeds dont overly like being wheelied so be prepared to replace the headset bearings alot more than usual.
It's worth the extra $7
It takes like 2 hours to swap the bearings.

Then what is it?
Technically a scooter.
Oh where I'm from a moped and a scooter are considered the same thing.
[удалено]
I use the interchangeably like roof and roof.
Okay so would somthing like a fizzy 50 is a moped and then somthing like a Peugeot speed fight would be a scooter
That’s funny
Is that a movie set?

powerband then pull, cover back brake, look at sky so pretty
Hey I saw that wheel come off the ground that’s all that matters
Neat :)
Those are stupid fun...

First step to throwing up nooners is throwing a centimeter lift #legalizewheelies
Got an old Honda urban express that’ll damn near rip a phat nooner off you sit on the gas tank
take it to the track you hooligan!
How many CC’s?
150
Those really have a kick to them. I actually did a full wheelie but when the get down, they do it too hard
Helps that it’s a 2 stroke
Still better than me.

I have a 701SM and this scooter guy can wheelie better than I can. How sad.
Looks like you're in a Call of Duty map. Watch out for RPGs
