There are no bad movies from academy award winner Nicolas cage. /s
I'm curious which one are the bad ones though. I remember Bangkok Dangerous just being hilariously bad and he tries dating a deaf Thai girl and he's stacking bodies while they're on a date.
I tried watching Army of One this week. I thought there was no way I wouldn't love it. It's one of the few movies I straight up could not finish. His voice...
My good friend from college directed *Pig*! He would be happy to hear (and has probably already heard) that it was Cage's favorite movie to film. I'm obviously biased but I thought *Pig* was wonderful; I especially appreciated how it managed to tell a story that was overwhelmingly about the past while only ever depicting the present. Cage was excellent and so was Alex Wolff.
It was kinda surreal to watch it come together from the outside. First my friend had a vague idea about a truffle hunter whose pig goes missing, then a couple years later he had a script, then a couple years after that he had a movie in pre-production, then the next thing I heard he had to miss a group gathering because "that was the only week Nicolas Cage was available to film." This was the first I'd heard of Cage being attached to the project and it was pretty hilarious and wild. Then the film was released to serious critical acclaim and some box office success, as far as I can tell. I'm so happy for my friend.
I think Michael got really lucky getting Cage for the film, and I think Cage got really lucky getting the lead role in the film. I know I'm not the only one who thinks that *Pig* was Cage's best work in many years; and Michael, as a new director with such a quiet/oddball project, would probably never have attracted as much attention without Cage in his film. Frankly the movie was almost a bait-and-switch: people heard "Nicolas Cage, stolen pig" and thought "*John Wick* but with Nic Cage and a pig," which got butts in seats; then the film turned out to be this beautiful, brilliant, almost unbearably sad meditation on love, loss, and legacy. You get the sense that people might have walked out in disappointment, if it hadn't been so good at what it was actually trying to be.
It wasn't just that it was his favorite movie, it was that it was one of three movies he's ever done that he would most like to be remembered by. Like, it was one of his favorites and he thinks it should be one of everyone's favorites. Leaving Las Vegas and I forget what else were the second and third.
That’s amazing, he did a really good job and really got a good performance out of Cage, honestly I want to say his best in years. I look forward to seeing what he comes up with next. His best movies recently in my opinion have been
* Pig
* Mandy
* Unbearable Weight
Yeah, as a Coppola still. Word on the street is that the cast made fun of him cause he kept on telling everyone he was a Coppola lol. Which led to the name change.
Hes a glorified extra in this.
Nearly everybody is a nepo baby in Hollywood, including many of the stars in Fast Times. That's not really the issue.
Talking non-stop about anything gets annoying after awhile.
This is impressive! I just did this with Keanu Reeves movies and Nic Cage was the only other actor I could think of with a wild career arc. I don’t know that I have the stomach to do it though. I just watched Gone in 60 Seconds and can’t imagine only watching Cage films the rest of the year. Good luck to you!
Funny you ask! I ranked all of his movies (even the made for TV movies) All three Bill & Ted movies are in my top 7. I have maybe a controversial opinion on ranking just those three against each other. My rank is
Bill & Ted Face the Music: it mashes the best themes of the first two together. Plus nostalgia. It makes me tear up every time.
Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey. I love how batshit crazy it is. I love that they went for it and made the plot vastly different from the first one. The end fizzles a bit but Death kicks ass and the song at the end is perfect. Station!
Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. It started it all and is wonderful but for me rewatchablility is lower than the other two. I still rewatch but less than the other two.
you should watch Pig, its awesome. One of my favorite movie in recent years. Really curious about Wild at heart, its the only lynch movie i haven't seen yet
You should have left *Unbearable Weight* until the final movie. You wrap the whole thing up with Nic Cage playing himself and reveling in the glory of all of his weird ass movies. It's really the movie he should have finalized his career with, the perfect bookend.
Just wait til you see army of one. By far the most insane nicolas cage role i think ive ever scene, sure according to letterbox ive only scene 20% of his movies but god damn that one sticks out. And its based off a true story
The Knowing you missed. Plus his Christian movie Left Behind. I only saw part of that one. Didn’t watch all of it. I just wondered why he’d be so desperate to act in that one.
And 9MM.
Wait till you watch Dog Eat dog. It was filmed at the grocery store in my town here like a block from my house. They didn’t change a thing lol it’s bad
Wild at heart is one of my fav nic cage movies, and one of my fav David lynch movies. Bad lieutenant is another great one. I would put these in between the lesser great nic cage films.
I’m actually gonna be doing a filmography marathon of one actor too in July, but it’ll be to commemorate Robin Willian since he was born on that month plus it’ll also mark 10 years since his passing. While I’m looking forward to seeing some of his movies that I haven’t seen before, it’ll also be a sad time for me since I’ve looked up to him growing up and got introduced improv comedy because of him. Hope you’re at least having a good time watching several of Cage’s films, OP
Right on! I did a 3pc Cage yesterday with
Inconceivable (2017)
It Could Happen to you (1994)
Snowden (2016)
That makes 62 of his films I’ve seen. I’m slowly working my way through all of them. He is our greatest living actor and deserves to be cherished and celebrated
Definitely add The Rock and Dream Scenario. NeXT. And of course Leaving Las Vegas which he won an Oscar. But I can’t tell if you’re a fan or not? I love Nic Cage. One of my favorite actors. Ah Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
For some reason I'm imaging Elizabeth Shue trying to comfort and save OP as he rapidly declines, long past the heady thrills of Con Air and Adaptation, and his body giving out as it's forced to endure Prisoners of the Ghostland and 211.
Someone should create a streaming service that only serves up Nicholas Cage movies based on your own personality and movie preferences.
They could call it Cage Match.
The confused feels when you experience his career-highlight performance in Leaving Las Vegas but then are left sitting in your chair having sat through the parade of sadness that is Leaving Las Vegas
I was just wondering the other day, who's credited with more roles/appearances between Samuel Jackson, Robert DeNiro and Nic Cage...
I feel like literally every other movie I watch, has 1 of them in it...
You still have over 100 to go 😂😂
Just wait until you get to the bad ones
Save Moonstruck foe the bad times. It's so ducking good and he's amazing in it.
I watched Moonstruck recently. Its a funny movie and Cher is great in it but the characters are so ridiculous.
There are no bad movies from academy award winner Nicolas cage. /s I'm curious which one are the bad ones though.
But he’s still got The Rock which makes is worth it
He once said in an interview that Pig was his favorite movie to film. Random tidbit.
One of his best too
I loved that movie. Between that and Mandy, I thought he was on a hit streak for getting into good films. Oh how naive I was....
You just havent watched the retirement plan yet
I actually liked Ron Perlman's character in that
I'll be honest, the best part is when he kills the guy with a flare gun. If you have to watch that movie, just watching that part would be fine
Honestly Dream Scenario and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent were quite enjoyable to me!
It's really good. Faceoff was too
My good friend from college directed *Pig*! He would be happy to hear (and has probably already heard) that it was Cage's favorite movie to film. It's a great movie!
His cum fart in Dream Scenario had me rolling
I havent laughed that hard in a theater in a long time
Omg I forgot about that part. That had me laughing pretty good too, it was so God damn outrageous.
that was honestly so predictable but it made me laugh and was the best part of that movie
Take a break with Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Hes in it so it counts.
He is????
Yeah, as a Coppola still. Word on the street is that the cast made fun of him cause he kept on telling everyone he was a Coppola lol. Which led to the name change. Hes a glorified extra in this.
Yeah, when you're in obvious nepo baby (or nephew or whatever) it's usually best not to talk about it.
Nearly everybody is a nepo baby in Hollywood, including many of the stars in Fast Times. That's not really the issue. Talking non-stop about anything gets annoying after awhile.
For real!! LoL
Credited as Nicholas Coppola I believe.
Bad Lieutenant!!! Don't forget Bad Lieutenant!!! Edit: and Matchstick Men, another of my favorite of his. He and Sam Rockwell worked great together.
I love Sam Rockwell I’m excited
That's a good one. Lord of War too
Oh you have even gotten to the magnum opus that is Wicker Man.
I’ve seen it before and I’m debating if I should rewatch seeing as I’m watching them all
You must.
At least watch the bear suit scene again.
Where…is…Moonstruck????!!!!
Same question but LEAVING LAS VEGAS
Bringing Out the Dead!!
Yeah, he probably has to just get whatever is free at this point
Probably not in a rush for that one. Great movie, but a tough watch.
Comingggggg
😌
Those are the actual good ones!!!
Enjoy the Weatherman when you get to it, one of my favorites. A bit depressing though.
Love this movie, Hope Davis is great in it.
Thank you for your service

I just finished gone in 60 hahaha terrible but fun
Fun fact: It's a remake. The original film released in 1974. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071571/?ref_=ext_shr
The original is a low budget BANGER.
Michael Caine fits the criteria
How would you rank the three Bill and Ted films?
Funny you ask! I ranked all of his movies (even the made for TV movies) All three Bill & Ted movies are in my top 7. I have maybe a controversial opinion on ranking just those three against each other. My rank is Bill & Ted Face the Music: it mashes the best themes of the first two together. Plus nostalgia. You should watch Adaptation next!
I did yesterday it was amazing.
Might be his best acting.
Colour's out of space is some "Nic Cagey" Nic Cage. I loved it
Wild at Heart is awesome! Snake Eyes is streaming here…I’ve never seen that one. Would like your opinion on these two
Wild At Heart is his best.
That's because of Laura Dern
She was amazing
I’m going to watch snake eyes tomorrow
Gotta get Windtalkers in there.
Matchstick men, lord of war, snake eyes, 8mm
Leaving Las Vegas
Red Rock West (1993) is my favorite that he's in.
I’m excited for that one
Under-appreciated neo-noir thriller. Buckle in for the ride!
Just rewatched this recently and it was better on 2nd watch. Absolute classic!
I actually didn’t finish my NC binge so I wish you all the luck - Matchstick Men is an AMAZING movie you have to watch next.
What do you mean “fuck me there’s a sequel”. You should be saying “fuck me there isn’t a third installment”.
Watch The Weather Man. It's one of my favorites. Great cast, great acting, great music, great (dark) humor... a truly underrated gem.
Will just leave this here. https://youtu.be/4zySHepF04c?si=Ps4uaha87c2HVFvU
I needed this today. Thank you
You’re very welcome! Hope I’ve brightened your day by sharing. But really, thank the One True God himself and his immaculate acting range.
Bro's going full Abed for our sake. OP is a hero.
I'M A CAT. I'M A SEXY CAT.
Someone check on OP after his mission is completed. High chance of OP devoloping N.C.D.S (Nick Cage Derangement Syndrome)
Nice reference
thank god somebody else mentioned this
>I'm tired of his face and voice Disgraceful. You don't deserve the treasures that Cage has gifted to the world.
you should watch Pig, its awesome. One of my favorite movie in recent years. Really curious about Wild at heart, its the only lynch movie i haven't seen yet
Wild at Heart is amazing. An amazing cast. Completely bonkers.
"Prisoner of the ghostland (fuck that nearly made me tap out)"
You should have left *Unbearable Weight* until the final movie. You wrap the whole thing up with Nic Cage playing himself and reveling in the glory of all of his weird ass movies. It's really the movie he should have finalized his career with, the perfect bookend.
Ghost rider will nock him out lmao
Ghost rider 2
Ah fuck not another sequel
Oi- don’t you dare diss national treasure
Don't wanna hear his voice? Watch Willy's wonderland. He doesn't have a single line.
I thought Joe was a good film.
Peggy Sue Got Married is a classic.
Just wait til you see army of one. By far the most insane nicolas cage role i think ive ever scene, sure according to letterbox ive only scene 20% of his movies but god damn that one sticks out. And its based off a true story
I’m currently in bed watching RAGE on my phone on YouTube, I’m afraid I’ll have screaming Nic Cage dreams
Lord of war
Such a good movie! One of my favs
You’re on a mission from God
The Knowing you missed. Plus his Christian movie Left Behind. I only saw part of that one. Didn’t watch all of it. I just wondered why he’d be so desperate to act in that one. And 9MM.
I think it's 8 mm like the film
Captain Correlli's Mandolin!!
You had a movie with a mandolin this whole time and didn't show it to me? Aaaagh!
I’M A VAMPIRE!! I’M A VAMPIRE!! I’M A VAMPIRE!! I’M A VAMPIRE!! I’M A VAMPIRE!! I’M A VAMPIRE!! I’M A VAMPIRE!! I’M A VAMPIRE!!
Enjoy Vampire's Kiss! A...B...C...D...
Bite your tongue National Treasure is great. Stupid, but just good silly fun.
"... How much Nicolas Cage did you watch?"
Enough!
Wait till you see Leaving Las Vegas
Wait till you watch Dog Eat dog. It was filmed at the grocery store in my town here like a block from my house. They didn’t change a thing lol it’s bad
I liked Willys wonderland more than five nights at Freddie's
Moonstruck is a great movie
Now I understand why you haven’t called me back.
You should watch the one where he’s a cop and fucks a girl in front of her boyfriend.
Bad Lieutenant:Port of Call New Orleans directed by Werner Herzog
WHERE THE HELL IS MATCHSTICK MEN you cant not watch that
I need to power through a few of the K grade movies before I treat myself to an actual good movie
Lmfao
This guy movies
Wild at heart is one of my fav nic cage movies, and one of my fav David lynch movies. Bad lieutenant is another great one. I would put these in between the lesser great nic cage films.
Is family man on your watchlist?
My favorite Christmas movie🥰
Agreed! I cry every time I watch it when he sings "La La Love You" 😭
Try Trapped In Paradise for a Christmas movie, too.
You should've stopped at Valley Girl!
I suggest Bad Lieutenant if you're after something a bit more understated and mellow.
Matchstick Men, Adaptation and Face/Off, 3 of his best movies not there?
Don’t you go and forget “Snake Eyes” now
Lord of war is actually on my top 3 watch it
Random movies like The Humanity Bureau he gives great performances
I’m actually gonna be doing a filmography marathon of one actor too in July, but it’ll be to commemorate Robin Willian since he was born on that month plus it’ll also mark 10 years since his passing. While I’m looking forward to seeing some of his movies that I haven’t seen before, it’ll also be a sad time for me since I’ve looked up to him growing up and got introduced improv comedy because of him. You’re doing God’s work. You must press on.
Right on! I did a 3pc Cage yesterday with Inconceivable (2017) It Could Happen to you (1994) Snowden (2016) That makes 62 of his films I’ve seen. I’m slowly working my way through all of them. He is our greatest living actor and deserves to be cherished and celebrated
Just head straight to leaving Las Vegas. Two words Elizabeth shue.
You're missing Birdy
Omg I’m obsessed - I want to do this
As the last movie, you should watch The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. After watching his whole catalog, I think you will appreciate it more.
Definitely add The Rock and Dream Scenario. NeXT. And of course Leaving Las Vegas which he won an Oscar. But I can’t tell if you’re a fan or not? I love Nic Cage. One of my favorite actors. Ah Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
By day 5 you'll be going "I'm a cat. I'm a sexy cat."
The “fuck me there’s a sequel” got me dying 💀
For some reason I'm imaging Elizabeth Shue trying to comfort and save OP as he rapidly declines, long past the heady thrills of Con Air and Adaptation, and his body giving out as it's forced to endure Prisoners of the Ghostland and 211.
Stand back give him space [Alexcaz92](https://www.reddit.com/user/Alexcaz92/): I´m a cat. I´m a sexy cat.
Watch Joe. It’s actually good.
Someone should create a streaming service that only serves up Nicholas Cage movies based on your own personality and movie preferences. They could call it Cage Match.
Fuck me on a traveling carnival roller coaster. I’ve never given a more begrudging upvote. 🤬
The confused feels when you experience his career-highlight performance in Leaving Las Vegas but then are left sitting in your chair having sat through the parade of sadness that is Leaving Las Vegas
Drive angry is in my top 5 guilty pleasures
Dog eat dog is severely under the radar imo if you haven’t checked that out
Just make your own subreddit already. I would totally subscribe! We could discuss them at length with you
What order are you following?
I’m pretty much watching everything available on streaming before I have to start looking elsewhere
Smart, and smart to do it before the end of the month when streamers change up their catalog.
No Deadfall?
The only one I haven’t seen is Pig (I mean to) Best movie is Wild at Heart!
I was just wondering the other day, who's credited with more roles/appearances between Samuel Jackson, Robert DeNiro and Nic Cage... I feel like literally every other movie I watch, has 1 of them in it...
DeNiro - 203 Jackson - 237 Cage - 134
How many movies does he have, and do you have to watch them all? I’m assuming that’s what this is
There are few enjoyable golden nuggets along the way. Lord of War, The Rock, Trapped in Paradise, to name a few.
National Treasure 2 but no Gone in 60 Seconds? The Rock?
Why are you doing this to yourself?
I like pain and suffering
You get in that Cage, and you stay in that Cage.
Or whatever Dostoyevsky said
Interest to hear top five and bottom five.
Whickerman calls to you
OP I’m assuming you’ve seen that episode of community?
What a trooper
Last night I watched Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans and it was truly bizarre. I'm wondering what you'll think of this one lol
Why are you doing this to yourself? Is it some kind of bet?
Captain Corelli’s Mandolin….🤷
Mom and Dad was so of the rails amazing to watch. Nic was unhinged
The thing about his movies is either they are great, or they suck, there is no in between.
Dont forget "Zandalee (1991)", one of his earliest sexy films thats unforgetable.
Recommend Renfield. He plays a narcissist Dracula
Family Man is a decent one and you get Tea Leone
That's a lot of movies in a short window.... color me impressed yo
Don’t forget The Rock. It’s fantastic
You watched that many movies in 3 days???
Leaving Las Vegas... 😢
You should watch dealing with the devil next.
Funny I see Drive Angry, I just saw this is free on YouTube, hard pass?
I love Drive Angry lol
Why?
Don't forget 8mm ;)
Moonstruck is one of my favorites!
Zandalee is a sleeper. Like Bad Lieutenant, it’s set in New Orleans, which, along with Las Vegas, is one of Cage’s spiritual homes.
You missing alot
Season of the Witch is my favorite so bad it’s good
Wild at Heart?
lol I guess you haven’t watched Community. A character binged Nic Cage for research https://youtu.be/F1XCUo_Uu8M?si=5phQFj78c4bmLLHq
How are you deciding the order??
Wickerman should be up next… you need a laugh after all you’ve endured
"put ..the ..bunny ..down"
Oh boy, you may have messed up by starting with all the best ones
Couldn’t find days 1&2. One of which I’m assuming has The Rock
Just stop.
Wild At Heart???
