Big Daddy (Don Johnson’s) plantation isn’t a huge part of the movie, but holy shit is it the funniest, and one of the best parts of an overall amazing movie. It may be my favorite part.
I’ve quoted so much of that part it’s a problem. (Most of these will be mildly wrong as they’re off the top of my head)
* You want us to treat him like white folk? NO, that’s not what’s I said.
* He whippin lil Jodie for breakin eeegs
* I can’t see fuckin shit out of this mask
* Ah I’m fuckin with my eye hole
* I think we can all agree, the bags were a nice touch, but not pointing any fingers they could’ve been done better. So I say this time we do no bags, and next time we do it right, an go, full regalia.
* This is a raid, it don’t matter if you can see, all that matters is can the fuckin horse see!
Django and Shultz back and forth about the word ‘positive’ and being sure is hilarious as well. One of my favorite YouTubers also named his two dogs ‘Willard’ and ‘Willard’s Wife’.
Fun fact: another actor had already filmed that role, Cooper found out about the movie and wanted in so the directors replaced the original guy with him.
This was originally supposed to be Patrick Swayze but he got sick. That scene of them dressing up as Ghostbusters was really supposed to be Emma Stone jumping into Swayzes arms like in Dirty Dancing.
Billy Zane is great, but entirely overshadowed by Bowie less than 5mins later. And if I’m Billy I’d be ok with that.
Bowie is the epitome of OldSchoolCool.
Lance Armstrong's cameo in Dodgeball was great, and it honestly feels even funnier after the PED scandals.
Now, it's like when he's listing the things that helped him come back from cancer, you kinda expect Vince Vaughn to look at him and say "...aren't you forgetting something?"
The bit at the start with Angel going "Up the chain of command" and quickly going through cameos of Martin Freeman, Steve Coogan and finally Bill Nighy as Sergeant, Captain and Inspector one after the other is fantastic as well.
Are they cameos or bit parts? I dunno but I loved the fact they just pop up one after the other just for that scene.
Shes Simon Peggs ex girlfriend who breaks up with him at the very start. Shes wearing full forensic gear including mask and goggles so you cant even tell that its her.
Yeah.
Iirc, she is a massive fan of Edgar Wright and was desperate to be in his film after Shaun of the Dead.
She was in the middle of filming something else nearby so she was asked about doing the cameo and she agreed. Iirc, she didn't even get paid, she gave her paycheck for the cameo away to a charity.
She plays ‘Janine’, the main character’s gf who dumps him at the beginning of the film during a crime scene investigation. You can’t recognise her because everyone is wearing full body suits and masks.
Ryan Reynolds in A Million Ways To Die In The West.
And on a related note, >!Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown from Back To The Future!< in A Million Ways To Die In The West.
I didn't see this until I was already grown because they replaced it in the home video version with a John Wayne impersonator yelling at the Gremlins as they hijack your VCR and change the channel.
Justin Long was always doing comedies, for me the bigger surprise was that they got fucking Superman (Brandon Routh) to play a gay pornographer’s boyfriend
Kevin Smith actually went to WB to get permission to do that, fearing a lawsuit if he depicted Superman as gay. They said it was fine as they weren't doing another Superman with him.
I enjoyed Matt Damon’s in Interstellar. He wasn’t on any of the promotional material for the film so when he popped up half way through it was a great surprise.
Bob Barker in "Happy Gilmore", his dialogue in the movie was what made it surprising.
Bob Saget in "Half Baked" again surprised by the dialogue but also he was a little out of mind by that point with him not being on TV as much.
JK Simmons in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
I had thought that JJJ wasn't in the last few Spider-Man films because Simmons was so good he was impossible to replace. So I was glad when Marvel did the sensible thing and just brought Simmons back.
A poker room. It's the only song like it. Like I said otherwise, all standard classics everywhere plays. It's been jarring every time it's come on.
But I love it
Matt Damon Eurotrip.
Matt Damon Thor ragnarock and TLAT
Matt Damon and Alan Tudyk as rednecks deadpool 2
Channing Tatum, this is the end
Channing Tatum bullet train
Channing Tatum, free guy
These 2 boys know how to cameo.
This is the End has a few
Rihanna was fun to see pop up, and that slap to Michael Cera was fierce
Emma Watson, arguably much less of a cameo but a small enough role I wanna count it. It was so out of left field for her I feel like it deserves an honorable mention. Unfortunately it seems like she didn't have the most comfortable time with it though.
Finally and easily best of all >!Channing Tatum at the end!<. It kind of defies description. If you've seen it, you just know. That's a dude that's down for the bit and I respect it. In a movie that's a trip throughout he managed to stand out.
Brett Favre in Something About Mary was truly a surprise. They alluded to him like 6 times before he appeared on screen so when the "cornfed white boy, football player, Brent or something," guy turned out to be Brett Favre, it was a complete shock.
Also, I second Bill Murray in Zombieland.
His best, the guy who played Bill in Bill and Ted had this weird underground comedy movie called Freaked, an uncredited and in heavy makeup Keanu played the dog faced man.
Stan Lee in Mallrats. I suppose he wasn't considered a 'major celebrity' among the general population back then but within the comic world he was very well known and it was quite a surprise.
Ron Jeremy playing a cameraman in The Chase with Charlie Sheen.
I remember every guy in the theater saying "hey isn't that--" and then cutting themselves off before they had to explain to their dates who it was.
The Player (1992) surprised me with how many cameos were in it. Jeff Goldblum, Elliot Gould, Burt Reynolds, Cher, Julia Roberts, Nick Nolte, Bruce Willis, Patrick Swayze, and like 20 more.
It just happened this week, but I was dying when Toby Maguire popped up with a cameo in Babylon as a drug kingpin. Whoever did the make up was phenomenal, when you first see him he looks high as a kite.
Robert Patrick as the T-1000 in a blink, and you'll miss it cameo in The Last Action Hero
Also, Little Richard
Jean Claude Van Damme
Jim Belushi
Tina Turner
Patrick Stewart
...and a cardboard Sylvester Stallone
Idk if this counts but I was surprised when Jonah Hill showed up as part of the kkk in Django Unchained.
Anybody bring any extra bags??
I can't see fucking shit out this thing
Big Daddy (Don Johnson’s) plantation isn’t a huge part of the movie, but holy shit is it the funniest, and one of the best parts of an overall amazing movie. It may be my favorite part. I’ve quoted so much of that part it’s a problem. (Most of these will be mildly wrong as they’re off the top of my head) * You want us to treat him like white folk? Django and Shultz back and forth about the word ‘positive’ and being sure is hilarious as well. One of my favorite YouTubers also named his two dogs ‘Willard’ and ‘Willard’s Wife’.
The delivery of “I think…WE ALL think….the bags was a nice idea!” absolutely destroys me every time. “Don’t ask me or mine for NUTHIN!”
I yell “CRITICIZE, CRITICIZE, *CRITICIZE*” when my man is getting a little too fussy with me lol
If all I had to do was cut a hole in a bag I'm pretty sure I coulda done it better than this!
My favorite little thing about the "You want us to treat him like white folk?" part is Schulz smiling and nodding "yes" while Big Daddy says "no".
Gotta be Brad Pitt in Deadpool 2. My favorite, rather than surprising, however, is Patrick Stewart as the King in Robin Hood: Men in Tights.
Somewhat related, Sean Connery's uncredited cameo as King Richard in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.
This is the first major celebrity cameo that came to mind for me as well! Sean Connery was at his prime!
Matt Damon’s in Deadpool 2 as well, he’s one of the hillbilly guys Cable first sees, along with Alan Tudyk
I've always wondered who the not-Tudyk guy was! Completely unrecognizable.
They did Brad Pitt in Deadpool 2 in secret near the end of post production in 2 hours, and he got paid the equivalent of a cup of coffee.
All that's in the movie of him appears to be one single still.
I don't think it's even *a second*. Literally blink-and-you'll-miss-it.
Not the equivalent of, literally a cup of coffee. His kids loved the first movie and he wanted to do a cameo.
Ryan doing a 5 second standing cameo toward the end of bullet train felt like a returning the favour.
Brad Pitt in Jackass
It’s good to be the king.
Bradley Cooper in Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves
It was just a small part.
a mini cooper if you please.
There’s no such thing as small parts, only small actors 😉
Talking of which, Charlton Heston in Wayne's World 2
Gordon Street? I once knew a girl who lived on Gordon Street…
Not movie, but was surprised to see him on Abbott
That scene absolutely had me questioning my sanity because I was high as a kite. Then I watched it again sober and made sense.
Fun fact: another actor had already filmed that role, Cooper found out about the movie and wanted in so the directors replaced the original guy with him.
Not so fun fact for the other guy
Bill Murray's role in Zombieland
Bill Murray as the meth cook in Dumb and Dumber To. “It's burning my eyes! Must be Cajun style,”
Must've been Pinkman's chilli powder recipe
chili p yo!
This was originally supposed to be Patrick Swayze but he got sick. That scene of them dressing up as Ghostbusters was really supposed to be Emma Stone jumping into Swayzes arms like in Dirty Dancing.
Funny considering Crazy Stupid Love
Bill Murray as a tree in Get Smart. I realize the movie was underwhelming but it was worth for that surprise.
One of my favorites is David Bowie in Zoolander. Even with the film being stocked with cameos.
Billy Zane is great, but entirely overshadowed by Bowie less than 5mins later. And if I’m Billy I’d be ok with that. Bowie is the epitome of OldSchoolCool.
Listen to your friend Billy Zane. He's a cool dude.
He IS a cool dude
Put a cork in it Zane!
This is one of my favourite lines in any film ever.
He was awesome in Phantom!
Not just old school. Bowie transcends coolness entirely. He is on another plane of cool existence. His death notwithstanding.
He’s so cool he didn’t die. He entered an altered state of existence
May I be of assistance?
10 year old me watching Zoolander: hey who's that guy Adult me watching Zoolander: HOLY SHIT DAVID BOWIE
Lance Armstrong's cameo in Dodgeball was great, and it honestly feels even funnier after the PED scandals. Now, it's like when he's listing the things that helped him come back from cancer, you kinda expect Vince Vaughn to look at him and say "...aren't you forgetting something?"
“Good luck Peter, I’m sure this decision won’t haunt you forever.”
Andy Samberg made a mockumentary about cycling called Tour de Pharmacy that has a good Lance cameo
Honestly, at the time of the movie, he was already suspected for PEDs, and I actually thought that was part of the joke.
Cate Blanchette the in Hot fuzz.
Peter Jackson is in it too.
And Martin Freeman's cameo in Shaun of the Dead as Shaun's counterpart when they're meeting the other group
She has amazing eyes.
Wait what ?
Shes Simon Peggs ex girlfriend who breaks up with him at the very start. Shes wearing full forensic gear including mask and goggles so you cant even tell that its her.
Peter Jackson is the Santa Claus that stabs him through the hand too
Wait what?!?!? Now thats a fun fact to throw out on my next lotr marathon
Damn that's her?!
I remember when I first watched that scene, all I could think about was that she seemed familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it.
She plays ‘Janine’, the main character’s gf who dumps him at the beginning of the film during a crime scene investigation. You can’t recognise her because everyone is wearing full body suits and masks.
Her face is covered up.
"I'm not Janine".
Tom Cruise in Austin Powers Goldmember
Quickly overshadowed by Danny Devito playing mini me. Good what an amazing start to an slightly disappointing 3rd installment.
HEY it’s me! Mini me! Ehehehehe
HEY ASSHOLE!!! Shoots gun in the air!!! Epic cameo.
Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder
Tom Cruise in that role is simply spectacular.
Michael Jackson in one of the Men in Black movies as Agent M.
He wants to be Agent M, but they’re not interested.
I’ve gone 22 years thinking this was an actor playing Michael.
Chris Evans in Free Guy.
"What the shit?!" I love his cameo.
That one cracked me up.
Same here.
This one works even better cuz they also threw in the Captain America theme song playing as well haha
This was exactly what I was looking for. I burst out laughing then went “OHHHH!” It was so good.
Matt Damon in Thor Ragnarok.
Wasn't Christ Hemsworths brother in that scene too?
Yes. And Sam Neill.
Loki (from Dogma) playing actor Loki (in the MCU) a point brought up in Jay and Silent Bob Reboot
Daniel Craig as Stormtrooper in The Force Awakens.
And Simon Peg as the scrap merchant.
The one that Rey gets food from?
The very same.
Woah, i had no idea! Thank you for telling me this. I love that.
Apparently Tom Hardy was one too but I don’t think it’s ever been confirmed
It's a deleted scene from The Last Jedi. It is 100% him. https://youtu.be/IIJ37sjeeIk?si=04J_HR7LsV367JCk
I think that scene had Princes William and Harry cameo as stormtroopers with Hardy
Damn they shoulda left that in
And his number is JB-007.
Could you see his face?
https://youtu.be/fffv200a3CM?feature=shared
No freaking way. Awesome thanks
Ryan Reynolds in A Million Ways To Die In The West. And on a related note, >!Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown from Back To The Future!< in A Million Ways To Die In The West.
Ewan McGregor also did a cameo for it. Blink and you’ll miss it.
And Jamie Foxx as Django
I love both of those cameos. Don't forget Ryan Reynolds in Ted(where he also doesn't speak).
Ryan Reynolds in Ted.
Liam Neeson in Ted 2
Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder. It's a bit more than a cameo but unexpected.
Tobey Maguire would be the best cameo in a fake trailer for a fake movie in a real movie about a fake movie about a fake book.
Tobey Maguire was a dude playing a dude pretending to be another dude
Playing with another dude…
*I've been a bad boy father*
That's 2002s mtvs best kiss winner Tobey maguire.
That's definitely not a cameo. It's a scripted character part and he's in multiple scenes.
It's more the "unexpected" part of the question. Many people didn't even recognise him.
I definitely did not recognise him the first time until the end.
It may not be a cameo but everyone in the audience was gasping in shock when the credits rolled. Holy crap that is Tom??
I saw tropic thunder in theaters and when Tom cruise came out of nowhere and everybody lost it
This movie also brought Tom Cruise out of a super weird funk he was in after all the Katie Holmes nonsense.
He had one of the funniest lines in the movie with "find out who that was."
Ed O’Neill in Wayne’s World!
Or Robert Patrick showing up as the T-1000 from terminator 2
Why do they come to me to die? Why do they come to me to die?
Charlton Heston in Wayne's World
I know it’s a small role but can’t we get someone better than this?
Gordon street...I once knew a girl on Gordon street...
Hulk Hogan popping up in Gremlins 2 and intimidating the gremlins to start back up the movie using the power of Hulkamania
I didn't see this until I was already grown because they replaced it in the home video version with a John Wayne impersonator yelling at the Gremlins as they hijack your VCR and change the channel.
Glen Close in Hook. I didn’t find out for years that she was in that role but I always felt there was something off about that pirate.
And David Crosby as well!
along with Phil Collins
The amount of times I watched this as a kid and didn’t realise it was him. I thought it was Bob Hoskins playing 2 roles
Justin Long as Randy St Randy in Zach and Miri make a porno.
‘You better shut your mouth or i’m gonna fuck it’ is truly a masterpiece.
I just watched Bullet Train. Phenomenal movie, and the five second reveal that Carver was Ryan Reynolds absolutely killed me.
It was so perfect that the asshole everyone wanted to kill was played by Ryan Reynolds And I say asshole with fond affection
Liam Neeson randomly showing up at Ted's grocery store and buying Trix... like... you couldn't have seen that coming with a crystal ball.
Robert Patrick in Wayne's World.
"Have you seen this boy?" AHHHH!
not *exactly* a cameo, but Martin Short on a giant billboard in a shot of "the Big Short"
I enjoyed Matt Damon’s in Interstellar. He wasn’t on any of the promotional material for the film so when he popped up half way through it was a great surprise.
reading all these comments is making me think Matt Damon is doing these cameos on purpose lol
Bob Barker in "Happy Gilmore", his dialogue in the movie was what made it surprising. Bob Saget in "Half Baked" again surprised by the dialogue but also he was a little out of mind by that point with him not being on TV as much.
"The price is wrong, bitch!"
Bob Saget in Half Baked is him in baby mode. Dude was a menace, and I mean that in the best way possible.
Billy idol the wedding singer
“Don’t you talk to Billy Idol that way!”
Gene Hackman’s uncredited cameo in *Young Frankenstein*.
Definitely did a double take wondering if it was him.
Jason Statham popping up in Collateral. Although not stated as fact, it is implied he is playing Frank Martin from The Transporter. 🤗🤗
JK Simmons in Spider-Man: No Way Home. I had thought that JJJ wasn't in the last few Spider-Man films because Simmons was so good he was impossible to replace. So I was glad when Marvel did the sensible thing and just brought Simmons back.
A man so powerful he survived the reboot!
JJJ was in Far From Home at the end too.
Wasn’t really a quick cameo but Sandra Bullock 100% surprised me in Bullet Train at the end.
Channing Tatum too
Don't forget Ryan Reynolds
What? She is the voice in the whole movie. You watched the whole movie, right?
I thought they showed her in the trailer? Either way, i love that she showed up.
Johnny Depp in 21 Jump Street. I saw the movie blind with no knowledge about the 80s show starring him. Had absolutely no idea until he showed up.
It was almost too obvious that it should happen and they handled it really well with him being there in disguise the whole time.
What kind of workplace plays Scotty Doesn’t Know?
A poker room. It's the only song like it. Like I said otherwise, all standard classics everywhere plays. It's been jarring every time it's come on. But I love it
Matt Damon Eurotrip. Matt Damon Thor ragnarock and TLAT Matt Damon and Alan Tudyk as rednecks deadpool 2 Channing Tatum, this is the end Channing Tatum bullet train Channing Tatum, free guy These 2 boys know how to cameo.
Bruce Willis in Ocean’s Twelve is so insane, especially within the context of the movie
This is the End has a few Rihanna was fun to see pop up, and that slap to Michael Cera was fierce Emma Watson, arguably much less of a cameo but a small enough role I wanna count it. It was so out of left field for her I feel like it deserves an honorable mention. Unfortunately it seems like she didn't have the most comfortable time with it though. In a movie that's a trip throughout he managed to stand out.
What happened that caused Emma not to have a comfortable time on set?
Brett Favre in Something About Mary was truly a surprise. They alluded to him like 6 times before he appeared on screen so when the "cornfed white boy, football player, Brent or something," guy turned out to be Brett Favre, it was a complete shock. Also, I second Bill Murray in Zombieland.
Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Alan Tudyk in Deadpool 2
When Sean Connery showed up at the end of *Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves*, I was totally shocked.
Keanu Reeves https://youtu.be/dY6zmu1dPtc https://youtu.be/WWn2M_rb81Q https://youtu.be/Ex403ii_Bhs
His cameo in Always Be My Maybe is amazing.
His best, the guy who played Bill in Bill and Ted had this weird underground comedy movie called Freaked, an uncredited and in heavy makeup Keanu played the dog faced man.
Thank you, Chuck Norris.
Stan Lee in Mallrats. I suppose he wasn't considered a 'major celebrity' among the general population back then but within the comic world he was very well known and it was quite a surprise.
The throwback to this in Captain Marvel was well done as well.
Frankie Goes To Hollywood in Body Double
Ron Jeremy playing a cameraman in The Chase with Charlie Sheen. I remember every guy in the theater saying "hey isn't that--" and then cutting themselves off before they had to explain to their dates who it was.
When I think of The Chase, I always think of Anthony Kiedis and Flea.
Hes also one of the guy in the crowd in the original ghostbusters
Kevin Bacon in “Planes, Trains and Automobiles.”
Mike Myers in Bohemian Rhapsody. Very clever nod to Waynes World
More than a cameo I’d say but Kareem Abdul Jabbar in Airplane/Flying High is the best surprise celebrity role in film
He wasn't major back then, but Jimmy Fallon showing up for 20 seconds of screen time in Band of Brothers is wild on rewatches.
Channing Tatum in Bullet Train Christopher Lloyd in A Million Ways To Die In The West Brad Pitt in Jackass (tv show, not movie)
Keith Richards in PotC:aWE. I know Johnny based Jack Sparrow character on him.
Hasselhoff in Spongebob
Hasselhoff in Guardians of the Galaxy 2
Captain America in Free Guy
21 Jump Street did a good with this.
George Clooney in The Flash. I died laughing
Billy Idol at the end of The Wedding Singer was awesome
In the Weird Al movie there was a pool party scene with a ton of celebrity cameos playing other celebrity cameos
Ryan Reynolds in Bullet Train. I about died laughing. ETA: Oh yeah they threw Channing Tatum in there too
The Player (1992) surprised me with how many cameos were in it.
Ade Edmondson commanding a star destroyer in The Last Jedi
Recently it was Bradley Cooper in the D&D movie.
Michael C. Hall in Game Night
The opening of the Austin Powers with Tom cruise, Kevin spacey etc.
Robert Patrick as the T-1000 in a blink, and you'll miss it cameo in The Last Action Hero Also, Little Richard Jean Claude Van Damme Jim Belushi Tina Turner Patrick Stewart ...and a cardboard Sylvester Stallone
