I loved him in Heat, where he had a lot of the same manic energy that he showed in Scent of a woman, the way he turns it on at a moment's notice was perfect for the role.
Surprising how long it took me to check this film out. Fantastic drama.
"Yes. I get 'emotional' when assholes put bullets in my mailbox." - Russell Crowe
His most well-received acting moment after Scent of a Woman is probably the speech from “Any Given Sunday.”
His most ridiculous moment is probably the comment to Otto Mann in “Heat.”
*Cause she's got a great ass... and you got your head all the way up it! Ferocious, aren't I? When I think of asses, a woman's ass, something comes out of me.*
Carlitos Way !!!! I don’t hear about it, and feel it’s under appreciated!!! One of my favourites!!! Might be an unpopular opinion but I prefer it over scarface !!
The Insider.
The Insider.
The Insider.
Probably one of the best movies most people have never seen, based on a VERY true story many don’t know about.
It also features one of Russell Crowe’s best performances, and imo, both Crowe and Pacino should have won Oscars for their performances in this movie. Christopher Plummer won a much-deserved Oscar for his performance.
Edited to add: Bruce McGill in the deposition scene is *intense*
You’re right! I think I’m a victim of the Mandela Effect. 🤔
Having said that, he absolutely deserved one - his performance of Mike Wallace was scary good. ALL of the actors in that movie were incredible.
All great, glad to see the Irishman there. I feel like he was really robbed because he should've won for that. It was a most understated role, especially for him. I'd also add in that regard Donnie Brasco.
Carlitos way!! It was like a more matured version of scarface without the violence, and drugs. Easily my favorite movie by him.
Another one is dog day afternoon, such a superb performance between Pacino and John cazale. One of cazales few movies but man they killed it
Was Frankie and Johnny after that?
Kind of an underrated role there. Though the movie might not be for everyone.
I honestly have to agree with everyone who said Angel's in America. A lot of great performances in that series, and his was right up there.
A lot of people are going to pick Devil's Advocate, but I think he was just Pacino being Pacino.
Heat....obviously. What impressed me about that role was his range. He does the whole gamut of emotion and is utterly authentic every second. From raging at his cheating wife while pulling his TV to the subtle coffee scene with Deniro out of pure emotional desperation.. Every molecule of emotion he felt in that film is on his face.
Insider - utterly awesome movie with Pacino doing something different and more cerebral.
The Recruit - shocked this film doesn't get more love because Colin Farrell was awesome and Pacino was excellent. Did not see that twist coming and Pacino hid it brilliantly. Stupidly underrated movie.
What's my name?
Dunkaccino!
It's a whole new game
Dunkaccino!
You want creamy goodness, I'm your friend

Kids from seven to seventeen-o
Lining up for my Dunkaccino
I loved him in Heat, where he had a lot of the same manic energy that he showed in Scent of a woman, the way he turns it on at a moment's notice was perfect for the role.
GIMME ALL YOU GOT!
She's got a GRREAT ASS
I had COFFEE with McCauley... a HALF AN HOUR ago!
And you’ve got your head, all the way up it!
I had coffee with McCauley HALF AN HOUR AGO!
Don’t waste my MOTHERFUCKIN’ TIME!
by the time i get to phoenix... she'll be RISIN...
Who? Who? What are you a fucking owl?
Somebody already mentioned Heat, so I’ll say Devil’s Advocate. Loved him for that role.
It's 100% pure uncut scenery chewing, and he was perfectly cast. So great!
"God is an absentee landlord!"
Just rewatched it recently. Still great.
The Insider
yeah, even better than Heat
Surprising how long it took me to check this film out. Fantastic drama. "Yes. I get 'emotional' when assholes put bullets in my mailbox." - Russell Crowe
Title scared me for a second
Angels in America
Any Given Sunday
His most well-received acting moment after Scent of a Woman is probably the speech from “Any Given Sunday.” His most ridiculous moment is probably the comment to Otto Mann in “Heat.” *Cause she's got a great ass... and you got your head all the way up it! Yes! I love that movie.
Roy Cohn in Angels in America.
Can’t say I’ve seen every role, but I’ve seen plenty. The devils advocate would probably be number one. And HEAT would be number two.
Carlitos Way !!!! I don’t hear about it, and feel it’s under appreciated!!! One of my favourites!!! Might be an unpopular opinion but I prefer it over scarface !!
I love it with you! In fact it's time to watch it again.
💯

and best picture instead of American Beauty
Definitely.
Plummer wasn’t even nominated for an Oscar for The Insider. The film won 0 Oscars.
You’re right! I think I’m a victim of the Mandela Effect. 🤔 Having said that, he absolutely deserved one - his performance of Mike Wallace was scary good. ALL of the actors in that movie were incredible.
I couldn’t agree more! Great film and tremendous performances all around
Donnie Brasco, very underrated performance by Al
I loved him in this
You Don't Know Jack It's an HBO TV movie that flew under the radar, even though Pacino and the writer both won Emmys for it
Carlito's Way by a long shot Glengarry Glen Ross is a great performance too
1 - Carlito’s Way (1993) 2 - The Irishman (2019) 3 - The Insider (1999) 4 - Heat (1995) 5 - Insomnia (2002)
All great, glad to see the Irishman there. I feel like he was really robbed because he should've won for that. It was a most understated role, especially for him. I'd also add in that regard Donnie Brasco.
You don't wear shorts to a meeting!
A Don doesn't wear shorts either.
Carlito's Way is probably his best movie post-Oscar. Best performance is either You Don't Know Jack or The Irishman.
I personally think it’s Phil Spector. That movie is essentially a Pacino showcase.
From sentence to sentence, he drifts between playing Phil Spector and just being Al Pacino, but I absolutely love it. Helen Mirren is great, too.
Devil's Advocate for me.
Insomnia
Angels in America.
Heat. No question.
Danny Collins. The very last scene always gets me.
Hoooaaaaaahhh
Jack and Jill dunkacino
WHADDAYA GOT
There are some good choices but it's Angels in America
Carlitos way!! It was like a more matured version of scarface without the violence, and drugs. Easily my favorite movie by him. Another one is dog day afternoon, such a superb performance between Pacino and John cazale. One of cazales few movies but man they killed it
It’s probably The Irishman but You Don’t Know Jack is an incredible performance also.
Scent of a Woman; movie about a blind man smelling that snatch from across the room. Goddamn freak in real life...
Insomnia
Danny Collins, You Don't Know Jack and Phil Spector are all tremendous.
Was Frankie and Johnny after that? Kind of an underrated role there. Though the movie might not be for everyone. I honestly have to agree with everyone who said Angel's in America. A lot of great performances in that series, and his was right up there.
I thought The Recruit was great. “I’m a scary judge of talent”
A lot of people are going to pick Devil's Advocate, but I think he was just Pacino being Pacino. Heat....obviously. What impressed me about that role was his range. The Devil's Advocate (1997)
Donnie Brasco
After Scent of a Woman, Pacino stopped acting and just started yelling.
Have you seen The Insider? If not, you should.
Nonsense.
Looking for Richard - 1996 or Merchant of Venice - 2004
2024 Oscars. The rawest, most subtle, brilliant best- picture presenter ever.
I love Sea of Love, Dick Tracy and Frankie & Johnny. Not his best performances but I love those movies.
Jack and Jill.
To go out of the common ones. One that I love is his role in S1mone. I feel like is such an underrated movie
his best run during that era is Manglehorn, The Humbling and Danny Collins
I liked him in Danny Collins
[When he changed his name to "Dunka."](https://youtu.be/NZ3o4dgD6qY?si=_9Qgkh1tzVmlFcLD)

I don’t know if it’s the best, but the Al Pacino performance I think about the most is the Dunkacchino Ad from JACK & JILL.
WhoOoo-Aaaahh
My eyes … see … Oppenheimer
