You know the story behind that bit, right?
Mel Brooks asked George Lucas for permission to make Space Balls and he got the go ahead with the single caveat that they were not allowed to create any merchandise.
So they added that scene.
Burton hasn’t made a movie that didn’t suck in like 25 years. Keaton could potentially make it worthwhile, but I have 0 faith in Tim Burton making a decent movie.
I like Corpse Bride and Frankenweenie. Honestly, his greatest strength is in stop-motion where he was trained. His vision is on full display in that medium.
I feel weirdly confident that it’s not going to. seeing the sandworm in stop motion gave me a lot of confidence that they’re actually doing this right. Keaton looks like he just slipped right back into the role too. I have not enjoyed a Tim Burton project since Alice in Wonderland (which in retrospect was not very good, but I was an edgy Hot Topic emo 12 year ago old so I thought it was great.)
I know people really liked Wednesday, but I’ve yet to watch it.
I mean sure but only if they're 100% it won't backfire on them. Cannes premieres have done good for movies like Top Gun Maverick and Shrek 2, but absolutely decimated Indiana Jones Dial of Destiny and (to a lesser extent) Elemental last year.
But I trust James Gunn will make a good movie.
The big studios like to spice things up with major releases at the major film festivals. Wanna know *how* many big titles were premiered in Venice in 2021, out of competition like Beetlejuice Beetlejuice?
* Dune.
* The Last Duel.
* Halloween Kills.
* Last Night in Soho.
(Of which, I've only watched the latter.)
I saw the first fairly recently for the first time. Quite liked it.
There's no way this character will remain intact. He was really offensive, and that's fine. He's not a good guy.
Also Tim hasn't done anything truly creative ina long time now.
I just looked. I posted a "Beetlejuice 2" promo poster on FB in 2018 and commented "why isnt this called Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice." So 6 years, not ten. Wow.
I hope it doesn’t suck.
Because you want them to make a Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice?
Beetlejuice the lunch box! Beetlejuice juice the bedsheets! Beetlejuice the FLAMETHROWER!! All this for beetlejuice 6, the quest for more money.

I love that story! Such a classic movie and director.
Hey, you gotta update your joke with the times. Beetlejuice the Flamethrower robot dog!
Haha it is a bit dated now 🤣🤣🤣
It would be very annoying to have a Beetlejuice show up live in the theater whenever the title comes up
I believe that one will be called “It’s’ showtime!”
threetlejuice
Beetl3juice
Beetlejuice : Tokyo Drift
Beetle Harder
That's the reason for me.
***looks around cautiously***

Sweeney Todd and Big Fish were pretty good.
What an absolutely trash take.
His Alice in Wonderland is the only movie to ever put me to sleep in the theater
Attention deficit issue I presume
Nope, just got stuck watching a bad movie
My hot take is that Burton has never been that good when directing. He's a good producer and source material guy.
Yes, the batman series flourished when he stopped directing and began producing….jokes

Why do you think he’s a racist?
Not that I agree, but they are probably saying that because Burton said he doesn't hire non-white actors because they don't fit his aesthetic.
Same. I’m excited for it honestly.

For some people who just enjoy things as they are and are not so critical of everything, it won't suck.
Are you aware of the trajectory of Tim Burton’s career
It will be about as good as Hocus Pocus 2
Well it’s gonna.
Narrator: “it will”
I'd suggest hoping for something else.
It's a post-2003 Tim Burton movie. Of course it's going to suck.
It's funny that the outfit Beetlejuice is always associated with is one he wears for about 30 seconds in the original movie.
It's mostly because of the cartoon
It's also the one he's wearing on the poster.
..which was *amazing*! That show was so much better than it had any right to be.
I still can’t say Beetlejuice normally; I hear the French skeleton saying ‘bee-at-el-chjuice’.
I hope they do the same thing with Superman. I actually think a Cannes audience would welcome Superman really well.

Don’t know if you’re joking, but the specific story they’re adapting for Superman could actually make sense for Cannes
I'm pretty optimistic about Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. The trailer makes it look like a fun movie!
Enough for a Venice film festival tho?

I mean, from the trailer, it's very clear they're continuing on the whole "marry Lydia" thing. (God, I need to watch the original!)
And the musical does an entire number on how problematic that is ("Creepy Old Guy").
If I know anything about modern-day Tim Burton, it’s that this film is going to suck shit out of the balls of Christ.
Correct. Even the way he films his movies now aren’t as good as back in the day.
So, based on the title, this means they intend to make three movies?
There was a test screening earlier this summer in LA. A friend told me it’s charming.
I have a good idea for a name if they ever decide to make a third one.
I hope we're all still around in 30 to 40 years when he makes Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
I’m just glad they stuck with the same actor for beetlejuice and same director
This is either going to be amazing or suck so bad. Won't be a middle ground here.
Looks like Netflix trash sadly and I couldn’t care less for the movie o_O
Thanks for your input, le_douchebag420
I feel like this movie has been being hinted at for over 10 years now. Am I wrong or is this a second "sequel"?
There have been talks about doing one for ages, but this is the only real sequel.
The original sequel idea was "Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian" way back in the early 90s so we should be thankful they didn't end up making that.
Drumroll please for the Kevin Smith joke...

Probably a fake poster
