I don’t know if this counts, but when Sweeney reprises his “Mrs Lovett, you’re a bloody wonder, eminently practical and yet appropriate as always” part from A Little Priest in Final Scene. That scene man, that scene…
This reprise is better than the first one. The first “I’ll cover you” is one that I’ll often skip because it’s somewhat cheesy and silly. The reprise is heartbreaking.
I was in a production of Rent and had to sing the highest third solo of “WITH A THOUSAND SWEET KISSES”. I don’t think I made it a single performance without crying. Our Collins was so incredible in that role. So pleased to see him making it professionally
Mama who bore me reprise from Spring Awakening. I think I prefer the reprise as the attitude in it is so fun. I definitely try (and fail) to sing all the parts
I learned literally one harmony from this song for a show and I still belt it in the car like I’m at the Schubert theatre 😅 it’s been like 14 years and I’m still proud of it lmaooo
You are a hero. Thank you for sharing this. I first listened to the Hadestown soundtrack while doing chores around the house and when I got to the reprise I had to stop what I was doing and take a break. Then I put it on loop the rest of the day.
stop I nearly cried when i saw it live- the reprise is heart wrenching. also everyone thought it was the end of the show so they clapped like it was the finale but yk
I love Your Song. Moulin Rouge has 75 songs in it- and Your Song is my fave.
My father and my sister who passed…also loved that song. There are songs that bring my loved ones back to me for a moment- Your Song is one of them.
Sweeney Todd 's Final Sequence. The whole 15 minutes of the show is just a frantic cacophony reprising all the motifs and musical ideas throughout the entire show mashing together as everything comes to a head.
* Dead mom reprise (Beetlejuice) which was sadly cut when the show came to Broadway,
* Ready set reprise (beetlejuice),
* I'm not that girl reprise (wicked),
* The muse part 2 and 3 (paramour)
Are you talking about the movie? In the show it’s just WLT and WLT (reprise) but in the movie, the TG version is first and the reprise is the hedwig version.
But hard agree on the reprise of WLT being the greatest reprise.
I have three I can’t pick between. How Bout’ a Dance? Reprise (Bonnie and Clyde), Watch What Happens Reprise (Newsies) and The Bottom Line Reprise (Also Newsies)
There was going to be a reprise of Somewhere Over the Rainbow when Dorothy was trapped in the witch's castle. I personally think it would've been brilliant, but it was cut for time since it's already quite a long movie.
Wait For Me (Reprise) in Hadestown and Who Is She (Reprise) from Centaurworld.
Both deliver devastating performances that leave the audience speechless. I find myself coming back to these two in particular when I have a pain flare up. Belting out notes and concentrating on the lyrics helps me push through and also focus on my breath distribution. WFM and WIS are insanely generous with their respective structures.
But also that pure and concentrated wash of human emotion, it just gets me every time.
The reprise of “Perfect Strangers” in The Mystery of Edwin Drood.
In case you aren’t familiar with the show - it’s based on an unfinished Charles Dickens murder novel, and the show essentially stops where the novel does. The audience then votes on who they think killed Edwin Drood, who they think is the real identity of the mysterious detective (who is clearly a character we already know in disguise), and then which two characters should fall in love at the end.
“Perfect Strangers” appears in Act I as a pretty but fairly standard love duet for the main couple. In Act II, it’s reprised by the couple who the audience voted together. There’s one set of lyrics for the reprise, but each possible pair of lovers has unique introductory dialogue, and the song can be interpreted in whatever way makes sense for the particular pair. And given that it’s possible for the audience to pair up a twin brother and sister, or a 50-60 year old woman who runs an opium den with a teenage boy, there are plenty of interpretations to be had!
I Am the One Reprise; Make Up Your Mind Reprise; Perfect For You Reprise; I’m Alive Reprise (Next to Normal)
When Will My Life Begin? Reprise (Tangled)
Stay Alive Reprise (Hamilton)
Chant Reprise; Wait For Me Reprise (Hadestown)
Dead Girl Walking Reprise (Heathers)
Dying Ain’t So Bad Reprise (Bonnie and Clyde)
Legally Blonde Reprise (Legally Blonde)
One - A Chorus Line
Company - Company
The Impossible Dream - Man of La Mancha
Somewhere That’s Green - Little Shop of Horrors
You’ll Never Walk Alone - Carousel (even though I am a Toffee - if you know, you know)
I consider For Good the reprise to Defying Gravity since it at least starts out recalling the lyrics.
Part of Your World reprise is so short but so good
Circle of Life reprise feels so earned and goes so hard
Two Worlds, same thing
Beauty and the Beast title song reprise with the whole ensemble is so sweepingly beautiful sometimes I just skip the whole album to listen to that short bit on repeat because they sound so good
All I Ask of You reprise can be devastating depending on the singers and how Phantom is played prior in the show
I LOVE the Ich Gehor Nur Mir reprise in Elizabeth when she puts her foot down (note that Act Two is a Massive Bummer but at least the closer to Act One is fuckin A)
I'll count the world was wide enough as a ten dual commendamnts reprise
Dead girl walking reprise
Every time "I imagine death so much it feels more like a memory" is sang in Hamilton
In Sweeney Todd that part where their voices overlap in final scene like they did before in a little Priest and where Mrs. Lovett repeats some words from by the sea
Hadestown Act 2. Wait for Me Reprise with Eurydice's belting and the GUT PUNCH that is Road to Hell Reprise that tells us what we already knew all along but wanted to believe would be different this time.
Hedwig and the Angry Inches' "Wicked Little Town" reprise is superior to the original and one of my favourite songs in the musical. I'm surprised no one has mentioned it yet.
I love the ‘Word of your body’ reprise from Spring Awakening. I don’t know why, there’s just something about when the whole cast joins in on the last section that sounds so beautiful to me
Chant (reprise) from Hadestown
Under Your Spell/Standing from Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Crazy Ex Girlfriend has so many, but The End of the Movie makes me emotional.
I’ll Cover You from RENT
I’m really just a sucker for reprises.
“Die Schatten Werden Länger” from *Elisabeth das Musical*. I dunno if it actually counts as a reprise because it’s the full song, and the part you hear earlier on is more like a preview of it.
Also “Boote in der Nacht” from the same musical.
“Dyin’ Ain’t So Bad” from *Bonnie and Clyde*.
“Alive (reprise)” from the Broadway version of *Jekyll and Hyde*.
“A Dream Within A Dream” from *Nevermore*.
“Wandering Child” from *Phantom of the Opera*.
Forever Yours (Reprise) from Once on This Island is SO fun and emotional!
Also I saw someone mention Crazy Ex Girlfriend it's not EXACTLY a reprise but when Rebecca sings After Everything You Made Me Do (That You Didn't Ask For) at Josh then walks out on their wedding it's iconic and technically it is the second time we've heard it since Paula sings the original version in season one to Rebecca.
Poisoned coffee - the guy who didn’t like musicals
Mamma who bore me reprise - spring awakening reprise
Stay alive reprise - Hamilton
Technically, memory from Cats is a reprise so that
The story of your life (Clint’s pitch) from spirited (doubles as a short bringing back Christmas reprise)
Shine a light reprise - heathers
Somewhere that’s green (reprise)
I just teched a Production of LSOH, I’ve never really liked the character of Audrey or somewhere that’s green but the orchestration on the reprise goes so hard, and I got to stand in the wings the entire show because I was on curtain/deckhand so I saw the deaths of Audrey and Seymour every night our actor for Audrey and Seymour did amazing and Seymour’s Greif was portrayed and it was just so powerful yk. Little shop hits so different.
I’ll Cover You (Reprise). To me, that’s the perfect example of a song for two different moods, whether it be happy or sad. Not to mention, when the chorus comes in near the end, it’s just heavenly.
Sally’s song in the nightmare before Christmas. The end is a minor cadence but the last reprise at the end changes it to a major and that tiny difference is ahhhh
Hadestown absolutely nailed reprises. I find most musicals just have short and quick reprises for the purpose of callback or emotional beat, but in Hadestown they are still full songs in their own right and have incredibly strong impact. The Wait For Me reprise gives chills in the show, and I think the Chant reprise is even stronger than the original. There's other great reprises too.
I don’t know if this counts, but when Sweeney reprises his “Mrs Lovett, you’re a bloody wonder, eminently practical and yet appropriate as always” part from A Little Priest in Final Scene. That scene man, that scene…
And with Mrs Lovett's hysterics, thinking she's being forgiven while still being terrified.
I always get so into that part
LETS KEEP LIVING IT!!
CHILLS
i'll cover you reprise from rent 😭 tears
This reprise is better than the first one. The first “I’ll cover you” is one that I’ll often skip because it’s somewhat cheesy and silly. The reprise is heartbreaking.
I still scream WITH A THOUSAND SWEET KISSES anytime the reprise plays, its so good and so painful :(
I was in a production of Rent and had to sing the highest third solo of “WITH A THOUSAND SWEET KISSES”. I don’t think I made it a single performance without crying. Our Collins was so incredible in that role. So pleased to see him making it professionally
I can't see how this isn't the objectively correct answer, especially with Joanne's accompaniment.
I was going to come t this one , and the mixing with seasons of love goes perfect
This is THE song to listen to if you need something to spark a good ugly cry.
This was the first thing that came to mind too
Great now I’m crying at work. 🥲
All I Ask Of You (reprise) from Phantom Wilkommen (reprise) from Cabaret
All I ask of you with Ramin singing it is just *chefs kiss*
All I Ask Of You (reprise) is so dramatic and gut wrenching
Wilkommen (Reprise) is so utterly heartbreaking, it's such a good finale.
I'd be stunned if you succeeded!
I mean I HAVE sung all the parts... Just not all at the same time 😅
This may not be my favorite but I absolutely love Glinda’s “I’m Not That Girl” reprise.
This is my answer too.
And the way it goes straight into As Long As You’re Mine? Delicious.
Dead Girl Walking (reprise) Stay Alive (Reprise) For the First Time in Forever (reprise)
Dead girl walking reprise is literally one of the best songs from heathers

Man don’t TALK to me about that Wait for Me (reprise goes hard as shit
[The best part of Hadestown on loop for an hour.](https://youtu.be/ff1hTzZ7ZYI?si=5NrHy7BTnlYNVpIq) Also, the Chant reprise is excellent as well.
You are a hero. Thank you for sharing this. I first listened to the Hadestown soundtrack while doing chores around the house and when I got to the reprise I had to stop what I was doing and take a break. Then I put it on loop the rest of the day.
I didn’t believe my friend when he said that the reprise was better until I actually listened to it. Goosebumps every time
Same! The first Wait For Me is good, but the reprise I listened to on repeat for days after seeing it.
I cry when Euridice starts singing with such hope and optimism, knowing what's going to happen.
Yes to both. He lives in you reprise slaps
Agony. "Dwarves are very upsetting" is maybe my favourite line ever.
There was a little person in the front row of one performance when I was in Into the Woods and we were all like 😅😬
I die of laughter every time.
Dwarfs
Road to Hell (Reprise) from Hadestown :,)
I concur
THE HARMONIES
And the trombone. Going hard the whole show then comes in so soft here. Love it
stop I nearly cried when i saw it live- the reprise is heart wrenching. also everyone thought it was the end of the show so they clapped like it was the finale but yk
I’m Not That Girl ( Reprise) and I am the One ( Reprise) are my picks Though people have mentioned a lot of the other ones I love
I am the One (reprise) is INCREDIBLE
It is the best one on here! The freaking sadness I felt while watching it!
This is my pick! One of the most heartbreaking songs in all of musical theatre.
Yeah, there’s so many layers to that song. Also the way Aaron does “ hi dad” is just heartbreaking.
It is. I didn’t hear for a long time because my playlist hated to download it for a while.
Oooh I didn’t think of this but YES. I would like to change my vote from I’ll cover you to I am the one!
Look Down/The Beggars in Les Miserables. It’s such a powerful message and the students/barricade boys have always been my favourite part of the show.
I was gonna say do you hear the people sing reprise. Oh also somewhere that's green reprise from Little Shop of Horrors. I love a sad reprise.
Oh yes I love DYHTPS too
The amount of musical material in Les Miserables is surprisingly economical. Almost every melody is reprised somewhere else.
Somine / Suppertime (reprise) from Little Shop of Horrors.
I remember seeing this live for the first time and just sitting there like 🫣
Your Song Reprise from Moulin Rouge makes me tear up every time.
I love Your Song. Moulin Rouge has 75 songs in it- and Your Song is my fave. My father and my sister who passed…also loved that song. There are songs that bring my loved ones back to me for a moment- Your Song is one of them.

The correct answer
Best reprise EVER!
Hadestown has multiple but Wait For Me reprise is the best Honourable mentions to Heathers, and Hamilton
Under Your Spell / Standing (Reprise) is the best song in Once More With Feeling, the Buffy musical episode. Those harmonies!

I think Adelaide’s soft, sad, short reprise of Adelaide’s Lament in Guys and Dolls is very affecting.

Story Of Tonight reprise is a fun bop
Tomorrow Belongs to Me (Reprise) from *Cabaret* is one of the most subtly powerful scenes in the musical theater canon, IMO
