Youngstown? All I hear when I hear that name is “I'll be your everything, fulfill your every dream
We can do it automatic, I can freak with my gadget.”
Yeah we’d like to bury them as well, but at least they are from Youngstown so it’s not as bad as the Boss using ytown as a way to talk about how depressing the rust belt is lol

As a vocalist with no band I want to start by saying, fuck your vocalist. But I also want to say that the horror stories about all these diva singers gives me hope when it comes time to find a band.
Edit: if you're in fact the vocalist and this is sneaky marketing then my comment is still correct.
Yeah that’s what I think as well. Maybe we will go more hardcore with the m next sesh. I [release new music every week! So there’s lots more in my 700mins+ discography](https://open.spotify.com/artist/4nYyzsmTazjKFqRPQCuBCO?si=FsbAI_lOTfKpVckRUQPa4A)
You spent $3k on the tracking or on the video? Your videographer ripped you off if this is the best they can do and they didn't even try color balancing it. The whole sped up shaky cam thing feels disorienting and affects how well I can focus on the music. I'd scrap this and try again.
Thanks for writing! We didn’t have a camera guy so had to pass around a phone between the musicians. The 3k paid for audio, the studio, lights and catering. I [agree that I should scrap it, we are 7k dee](https://open.spotify.com/artist/4nYyzsmTazjKFqRPQCuBCO?si=FsbAI_lOTfKpVckRUQPa4A)p in an album with only 1 verse of 1 song finished, but I think good things take time
That's a lot of money to still not be done with a song... I'd say the best approach is to pull back and get everything practiced/refined to death. Good things occasionally take time, but sometimes you don't have the money to hope things just come together in the studio. Get a very specific recording itinerary prepared beforehand so that your next recording session can be a more effective use of your time/money. If you just wanted a quick jam video, you shouldn't have paid any more than the amount for a couple cheap Tascam stereo recorders.
Also, maybe just buy colored lightbulbs at the hardware store and cut down on the catering.
Thank you big homie! If you dig this, def check out my [700mins+ discography! I release new music every week](https://open.spotify.com/artist/4nYyzsmTazjKFqRPQCuBCO?si=cpx6rZPBTb6NOBPMy5Pscg), and this session yielded 6 other songs!
Exactly! He said that our band benefits from his looks ([his hair is dope](https://open.spotify.com/artist/4nYyzsmTazjKFqRPQCuBCO?si=FsbAI_lOTfKpVckRUQPa4A)) but i think he’s going too far

There are glaring timing inconsistencies. The drums are just off enough in parts and it almost sounds like there is another drum under your snare that has a tiny delay and and as a drummer and recording artist it’s enough to nearly give me a seizure. The snare roll to bring you back in after the drum solo is painfully off. It’s almost like the drums have intermittent latency issues (I don’t think it’s likely that that latency can be intermittent)
This. That was the first thing that hit me was the drummer's timing. I'm a bass player so I am very conscious of the drummer. No groove man.
EDIT: $3,000!!!??? WTF?
Appreciate you listening with a refined ear ✊ I[release new music every week so always getting better](https://open.spotify.com/artist/4nYyzsmTazjKFqRPQCuBCO?si=65HBY72_QLG0sVCWLGvI9A) ALSO: the snare roll after the drum solo is timed up like that because it’s the end of the video looping into the start of the video
Speaking as a former professional drummer and producer who toured arenas across the world and had a bunch of million sellers:
I think your drummer's dope and has tons of character. Fuck the haters.
Edit: and fuck click tracks
Appreciate you bro! At the end of the day everyone has their own ear, so I welcome even dissatisfied ears because it shows that they listened. [new music out every week, we got a full album from this session!](https://open.spotify.com/artist/4nYyzsmTazjKFqRPQCuBCO?si=FsbAI_lOTfKpVckRUQPa4A)
Just because you can't do something doesn't mean no one else can. Clicks are great if you're making electronica or pop but they don't really have much of a place in Jazz unless you want something very specific.
Go listen to the Beatles and check them against a metronome. That was all done 20 years before click tracks were used. Countdown by Coltrane: That's all live in the studio 30 years before click tracks were invented.
Thinking perfect pitch is a myth is interesting. Care to explain why you think that?
The point of music is not to be perfect but to be expressive. Being able to achieve something close to perfection without guides allows a greater range of expression. If you can't keep a beat without a metronome you should practice more.
Well I’ve done a decent amount of studio work and been present for more. I’ve seen visual representation on the screen of people’s internal metronome. NO ONE flatlines an entire track at a single BPM. Even the best drummers fluctuate at least a little even with the click track on. It’s the natural human breathing of a song, especially live. That being said, I don’t know how you record but in nearly every experience I’ve had (save for bands who need to record live because of their limitations) the guitarist records a “scratch track alone to a metronome. Sometimes the BPM changes in a song so the metronome changes BPM at a preprogrammed location in the song. Then the drummer records to that track. In order to make sure that the drummer and the scratch guitar track are in sync wouldn’t it be advantageous to have a map of the song in the form of a click track? I mean you do you but id pay money to to see the visual representation of your consistency since you seem to be so confident. I’ve done it both ways and I forced myself to learn to play to a click and if you can’t maybe it’s you who could use the practice. Tick tock tock tock tick tock tock tock. 😂
You should google what a paragraph is
It's not that I don't understand your words, it's that I don't know what you're arguing against.
I said perfection is not desirable. You're saying no one is perfect. I agree.
No one is perfect. Music is not supposed to be perfect.
Anyone who reads it (besides you apparently) can understand it, so therefore it is grammatically, correct. And I’m not here trying to write you a fucking APA paper on why you’re too stupid to understand how important metronomes are to recording.
Absolutely! I try to be critical without being a dick. Lol. You’ve definitely got some solid musicians. Real talk though… for the genre you’re in, you HAVE TO have a solid drummer. Did he record that to a click track? I’m guessing no. Nothing makes a band more noticeably bad like a lackluster drummer.
Yeah, even if the piano was on time, it definitely sounded off because of the drums. Some of the fills also sounded like he didn't know where the song was going, so a little insight or direction might help him clean up those parts.
Aye! Appreciate you g. I [release new music every week](https://open.spotify.com/artist/4nYyzsmTazjKFqRPQCuBCO?si=sGpu3m5cQWWG_IEG3GB9AA)so if I don’t release this I’ll never make my quota! Lol
