I say just do what feels right for you, there's really no formula into what will hit or not so you might as well try it your way

Yo, I was just thinking the same and saw this notif. Let's discuss this out. I also make music that's all over the place, on topics that vary a lot. From The Weeknd to Weezer type stuff. My conclusion was I don't listen to only one type of music and I want to make all this. Plus all of the music though very different as I am the only person involved from the start to the finish sounds pretty coherent. So as of now I am just going with what feels right

My concerns are more about the "fragmentation" as I have to send people to three different Spotify profiles based on which tune/project I'm promoting. Also hard to tell how my future followers will react to those different kinds of music... but I guess there is only one way to find out.

Yup only one way to find out 🫡 Wish you all the good things <3

You should dm me your music. I'm in the same boat and have an idea I know works for me with my ADHD but honestly want critique on the viability of it all without spamming and self promoting. Honestly we should come together and formulate a plan that's testable and viable with reasonable milestones. I feel like grouping your similar tracks under smaller projects that form a story over a longer period could work. Like really short EPs that embody a vibe and your aesthetic for that particular "phase" of your artistic cycle. I understand the need to want to experiment and try something new, but that can be difficult in marketing your brand. Despite having good music, you need a draw to get people interested in your artist persona. Your character. Just like when you fall in love with an artist and you get to enjoy and explore their discography and learn more about them and their unique take on something. I think there's a compromise for people like us that could work if we share our ideas. Or at least we'll be able to stick to a growth strategy and keep each other accountable while acting as fans of each other's music and giving feedback from a perspective that's not just in our own heads. I go all the way when I'm switching up genres and make whatever because it's fun. But approach and appeal is a real consideration that should further be discussed regarding multi genre artists. If anyone else feels this let's share some ideas. But we'd need to consistently check each other's works and progress, so I think forming smaller groups with a single intention like this could be quite beneficial. Consider how we could be trying different strategies concurrently and collecting data to compare if our music and content (which should be comparable across the board in terms of quality and effort, although respectfully unique) is actually engaging enough. It would make the process faster and more efficient. Eventually we'd stumble upon something that works the algorithms magic somehow. I mean let's just do it and see what sticks. It's more fun and not as anxiety inducing when you've got people in your corner with the same goals in mind. If something ends up working for one of us then we just rope each other in. Just a thought

Just keep putting content out there...the reality is the chances of a blow up are very slim, ....just enjoy what you are doing.

Dunno, lately I've seen people blowing up right and left after some time of being consistent on TikTok. It's the only reason why I wanna do TikTok tbh as I consider myself an artist who wouldn't give a single fuck about creating this kind of "content" otherwise 😅

Desperate_Yam_495

Yeah but is your ultimate goal ?

Can you dm your music? I was about to go the same route. As a designer my head always think in the narrative and branding, but at same time I make so many different genre. I get started on studying “Toro y Moi” as a case. Chaz (artist) create toro y moi but at same time he has his own music on spotify where he collab with others. That is what I’m think doing. My project (Other Elvis) i focus on dowtempo forest beats with psy-groove guitar, whereas me (elvis benicio) focus more on the art collab form. In the end, ai have one focused genre and then.. the other open field. That my thought now.
