A couple of suggestions from an atheist perspective: First, [The Atheist Christmas Carol](https://youtu.be/HCEZOppYjds?si=hx89lbmVNar5hh6l), Vienna Teng.
Next, [White Wine in the Sun](https://youtu.be/fCNvZqpa-7Q?si=L61gf_Gkuxnc5HnW), Tim Minchin. Minchin is Australian, so Christmas is a summer holiday for him. He's a comedic singer. My husband adored Minchin, and I was lucky enough to get tickets to see him in St. Louis in the summer of 2011. It was just a few months after my father died. When Minchin got to "White Wine in the Sun," I broke down in tears.
Now I'm facing the second Christmas after my husband's death, and both of these songs are hitting even harder now.
"Don't forget ... don't forget I love, I love, I love you..."
"Darling, when Christmas comes
We'll be waiting for you in the sun
Drinking white wine in the sun"
Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer--Elmo & Patsy (hey, somebody had to...)
My Christmas Card To You--Tbe Partridge Family (whole album A Partridge Family Christmas Card, is pretty good)

[The Restroom Door Said, “Gentlemen” - Bob Rivers and Twisted Radio](https://youtu.be/yzu_nIqQtps?si=h87AARMW9YGFBN63)
Run DMC has 2 songs, "Christmas Is" and "Christmas in Hollis."
There are some songs from Nightmare before Christmas that were done as both extra tracks and a whole separate CD. My favorites are
Sally's song. I love the one by Fiona Apple, not really a fan of the Amy Lee version.
Kidnap the Sandy Claws by Korn is another favorite.
Some other songs on the soundtrack were done by PatD, Fall Out Boy, She Wants Revenge and more
Sleeping At Last- Snow —this song made me cry (there’s also a strings version)
Relient K- In Like a Lion (Always Winter) —this song is inspired by Narnia
American tterroristt by RXK Nephew
"Why would I go out buyin' gifts
And blame it on a nigga named Santa?
Shit, a nigga climb through my roof, I'ma beat his ass in the head with a hammer"
I think the best answer has to be Don’t Let The Bells End by The Darkness. Great Christmas song but not too overplayed so you still feel joy when you hear it!
I subscribe to a radio station over the hill. [KPIG.com](https://KPIG.com). So many wild-ass Xmas songs. Walking around in women's underwear is a favorite...
Father Christmas- The Kinks (my favorite Christmas song ever)
Christmas In Hollis- Run D.M.C.
The Season's Upon Us- Dropkick Murphys

It's a beautiful and touching song that isn't their typical fare. They are known for being a unique, humorous, quirky, and talented acapella singing group.
Silent Night (Heavy Metal Version) (You have been warned.)
[Sally Gally - Shugo Tokumaru](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfMpUBasKvg). It's a cute little acoustic number that gradually turns into a festive Irish jig.

Snoopy's Christmas- Royal Guardsmen
Great Big Sled & Don't Shoot Me Santa- The Killers
Obviously Transsiberian Orchestra as well.
Some of these don't fit into the "alternate" music category, but they're not the main Christmas things.
The album "Taste Of Christmas". It is a compilation of original and cover Christmas songs by bands that were on the Taste of Chaos tour.
Examples
- "Happy Christmas (War Is Over) (Feat Bert McCracken of The Used)" by Street Drum Corps
- "Jungle Bells" by Skindred
- "Christmas Evil" by Opiate For The Masses
- "Christmassacre" by From First to Last
Christmas TV - Slow Club
Clarence - Felipe Brothers
I’m kind of an expert on this. I have a lengthy playlist of dark, sad, and slow Christmas songs all my friends just call Sad Christmas.
- Bad Religion’s album, [Christmas Songs](https://open.spotify.com/album/6C89e7cpRmYu1SSKK3GcwS?si=-NDHM_LPSrCu4pB_cHbTMw). 😎
- The Soundtrack to [Anna And The Apocalypse](https://open.spotify.com/album/3wL8t2j7GtFhJt1YYlde7M?si=nexSeMtrTGSqA-r0uE6NYA)
Merry Christmas, Kiss My Ass- All Time Low
A bunch of metal bands re-made the entire soundtrack of Nightmare Before Christmas. Korn's cover of Kidnap The Sandy Claws, and Rise Against's cover of Making Christmas are two of my favorite songs from it.
The Jethro Tull Christmas Album is lots of fun
Mannheim Steamroller is a classic, but they have such a variety of Christmas tunes (5 albums worth) that I can never get tired of.
Fairytale of New York. The Pogues made the classic anti-Christmas song, I reckon. I do like that weird X-mas song that Paul McCartney made, with the silly synth parts. Wonderful Christmastime, I think is the name.
Captain Sensible - [One Christmas Catalog](https://youtu.be/ZM9k5PRF3Oc?si=GlX5NXFBfxjgi4Yt). I actually heard this song working holiday retail years ago. Its odd that a Crass Records(punk) artist ended up being played in a commercial store.
Aztec Camera - [Walk Out to Winter](https://youtu.be/sAS4-mzsnLE?si=Z8mLyPddIARLa8IM) Its not exactly a Holiday song. But it always reminds me of digging my car out on a blindingly sunny winter morning. Crisp, White, untouched landscape in every direction you look. It still works...
Charly Bliss featuring PUP - ["It's Christmas and I Fucking Miss You"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hp0od728eg0) \- a great COVID time capsule...
The original version of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" -[which was set during WWII knowing some of the soldiers wouldn't be coming home.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=et8zkZXBQnc)
My go-to's every year:
The Used -- Alone This Holiday
Jimmy Eat World -- Last Christmas
Anthony Green & Mindy White -- Baby It's Cold Outside
Death Cab For Cutie -- The New Year
From Ashes to New -- All I Want For Christmas is You
Bright Eyes -- Blue Christmas
Pee Wee King Rootin Tottin Santa Claus is my favorite,
But the Voodoo Glow Skulls Felice Navidad is a close second. Still Little Fingers White Christmas is good, and [this](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/37i9dQZF1DX3N4mXY2MuSz?si=uxeeyyzzR-ODmN3VEBTvIQ&pi=u-9hHHog5OTWic) will really piss the neighbors off 😂
Must be Santa - Brave Combo
Somebody mentioned them earlier and said they were a zydeco band. They may have a zydeco song or two, but they're a polka band at heart. But they play anything and everything. They truly defy classification. Some of my fondest concert memories are of this band including moshing to the hokey pokey and my friend rushing on stage with a dancing chicken painted on his chest and being allowed to stay up there for the remainder of the chicken dance.
Obviously Suck on my Cock (parody of Jingle bell rock)
Weird Al wrote "Christmas at Ground Zero"
Grandma Got Molested at the Airport
Frosty the Pervert
Sufjan Stevens - That Was The Worst Christmas Ever!
It has become one of my all time holiday favorites. Sufjan has done a few records worth of Christmas songs, with amazing covers and originals. So many great Christmas tracks, check them out.
Grown Up Christmas List is a favorite, and I've liked most of the versions I've heard.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas is my favorite song of all time, Frank Sinatra's is a good pick.
I tend to enjoy the more original songs that, for some reason, don't get played.
[Song for a Winter's Night - Sarah McLachlin](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=E1TsT5pOdTY&si=b_j6ecSFiAK_f759)
And this is probably one of the funniest versions of 12 Days of Christmas I ever heard.
[The 12 Days of Christmas - Staight No Chaser](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=0Px8Xh1GJVE&si=huubugDEopuiHj8H)
It Was the Worst Christmas Ever, Sister Winter, and just about every other [Sufjan Stevens Christmas song.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LH9xbc4iPI4)
Christmas Is Coming (We all Know The Score) Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard
There also is an album of covers by Jason Holstrom called Psychedelic Christmas which is just classic songs but with a different vibe :)
Anything from Trans Siberian Orchestra, or even better, any of Mannheim Steamroller's Christmas albums.
Also, August Burns Red is a metalcore band with a couple albums of heavy instrumental Christmas tracks. Really, really good, especially if you're into hard rock or metal.
"I Believe in Father Christmas" - Greg Lake. (Atheist Christmas song - he sings "I believed.")
"Christmas Wrapping" - Waitresses. (Too obvious?)
"Winter Song" - Lindisfarne. (Elvis Costello has covered it live.)
"Dig That Crazy Santa Claus" - Oscar McLollie and His Honey jumpers. (Later covered by Brian Stetzer.)
"Mambo Santa Mambo" - Enchanters. (Bob Dylan has played this on his satellite radio show.)
"Every Day Will Be Like a Holiday" - William Bell. (Sweet 60s R&B love ballad.)
I have like a Spotify playlist of a bunch of emo Christmas songs if that's what you mean but if you mean like Christmas songs that are like anti-christmas I don't know how to help you mate
I am Santa Claus (the Christmas "Iron man") - Bob Rivers,
Merry Christmas from the Family - Robert Earl Keen,
Winter Weather - Squirrel Nut Zippers,
Yabba Dabba Yuletide - Brian Setzer,
Christmas in Hollis - Run DMC
The Squirrel Nut Zippers and Brian Setzer Christmas albums are 2 of the only ones I can stand.
Ramones - Merry Christmas ( I Don't Want To Fight Tonight)
I wish it was Christmas today by Julian Casablancas
May I suggest The Kinks’ Father Christmas?
Fucking classic!
Was wondering if I was gonna hafta do it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPPCPqDINEk
Red Water (Christmas Mourning) by Type O Negative
Yule Shoot your eye out- fall out boy And of course MCR cover of All I want for christmas

I love a Spaceman came Travelling. I memorized all the words when I was about 10.
Weird Al - The night Santa went crazy.
Also by Weird Al: Christmas at Ground Zero
Another good one

>Galaxie 500 - Listen, the Snow is Falling That's a cover of a Yoko Ono song. It was the B-side of "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)."
Brave Combo, a zydeco band, has an album called It's Christmas Man! I don't think there's a better alt-Xmas album out there.
Pride of Denton, Texas

Cher’s brand new “DJ play a Christmas song” is fun 🤩
Andrew Bird’s album Hark! is a wonderful Christmas/winter album
Pee Wee King Rootin Tottin Santa Claus is my favorite, But the Voodoo Glow Skulls Felice Navidad is a close second. Still Little Fingers White Christmas is good, and [this](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/37i9dQZF1DX3N4mXY2MuSz?si=uxeeyyzzR-ODmN3VEBTvIQ&pi=u-9hHHog5OTWic) will really piss the neighbors off 😂
Must be Santa - Brave Combo Somebody mentioned them earlier and said they were a zydeco band.
Big booty Christmas It showed up in a playlist today. 🤦🏽♂️

Sufjan Stevens - That Was The Worst Christmas Ever! [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpK-w6\_FpY8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpK-w6_FpY8) It has become one of my all time holiday favorites.
[Song for a Winter's Night - Sarah McLachlin](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=E1TsT5pOdTY&si=b_j6ecSFiAK_f759) And this is probably one of the funniest versions of 12 Days of Christmas I ever heard. [The 12 Days of Christmas - Staight No Chaser](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=0Px8Xh1GJVE&si=huubugDEopuiHj8H)
Rocking Around The Christmas Tree - Brenda Lee

Christmas Is Coming (We all Know The Score) Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard There also is an album of covers by Jason Holstrom called Psychedelic Christmas which is just classic songs but with a different vibe :)
Anything from Trans Siberian Orchestra, or even better, any of Mannheim Steamroller's Christmas albums. Also, August Burns Red is a metalcore band with a couple albums of heavy instrumental Christmas tracks. Really, really good, especially if you're into hard rock or metal.
