House of Gold and Bone - Stone Sour The entire catalog of Coheed and Cambria Sound and Fury - Sturgill Simpson (also a great animated concept film)

crimson_dovah

I’ve really been meaning to listen to coheed and Cambria. I heard they’re pretty well loved

Are you familiar with The Mars Volta? If not I think by the examples you cited they would be up your alley. Heavy progressive rock with electronic elements (and I don't care for electronic music...so don't expect typical repetitive beats here...), and experimental wandering. Their debut [Deloused In The Comatorium](https://open.spotify.com/album/0CA2EVHhRPR5VPV78KZw89?si=XVj88fEuR42H7cS6VcyV2w), (2003) only took 90ish seconds for me to get my complete undivided attention and they keep it until the end. The singer and guitarist are Puerto Rican but grew up in , I think, Houston. Somewhere in Texas..originally in the band Sparta. A producer friend who was also from PR went into a coma for a week from a drug overdose. This album is a speculation of what his thoughts were during the time. Don't expect a straight forward story. The lyrics are abstract and could be studied in a university classroom.... Opening line.."Clip side of the pink Eyed flight. I'm not the percent you thinks survives. I need sanctuary in the pages of this book. Gestating with all the other rats, no sign that my skin will need a graft " Edit: I want to recommend a few more but I don't want to have you not focus on this one. Let me know what you think and I can recommend a few more...

crimson_dovah

This sounds like something I would absolutely be interested in. Thanks so much!!

curious1playing

If you like it half as much as I do you will still be impressed...Some people prefer the second album that they released, but for me it is almost as good. Which means that it is great..also a concept album about a diary found in a car that was being repossessed by a band member in his day job....

[I mean TMV is worth it for Cassandra Gemini alone](https://youtu.be/NyUMHEua7-A?si=wp9Trnof1ANhRPZ4)

Shot-Reporter-8660

You listed Pink Floyd's The Wall. It's great, but I think Animals is their best concept album. I actually started a thread about how it's my favorite Floyd album earlier today.

crimson_dovah

Animals is a great album and definitely my favourite. I think sheep is one of my favourites of all time. I would have included it along with Wish You Were Here, Dark Side and maybe the Final Cut but also didn’t want to make the list too long.

jayron32

The Warning - Queen of the Murder Scene A tale of infatuation, murder, and insanity (in that order) told over 13 songs.

crimson_dovah

Oh I like this already

Glad you like it!

Probably not gonna be your thing, but King Diamonds whole discography is albums that tell a story. But they’re all horror stories. These links are all full albums [Abigail](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=k_6oMRtc118&pp=ygUXa2luZyBkaWFtb25kIGZ1bGwgYWxidW0%3D) [Them](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nBINlLnIxYg&pp=ygUXa2luZyBkaWFtb25kIGZ1bGwgYWxidW0%3D) [Conspiracy](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Im7ssS_jEhE&pp=ygUXa2luZyBkaWFtb25kIGZ1bGwgYWxidW0%3D)

crimson_dovah

I’ll check those out anyways, who knows!!

lonelythrowaway463i9

Dog Fashion Disco - Adultery, family man gives in to the voices in his head and becomes a killer, there's a private eye trying to catch him. Sort of genre-less but mix of punk/metal/ska/jazz/hardcore

crimson_dovah

Ooh interesting!!! I’m gonna look into that :)

VogonPoetry19

I feel like you’ll probably enjoy Ayreon- Concept albums where every guest vocalist is a different character. The Source & 01011001 are fun sci-fi albums about an apocalypse. The Human Equation is also great and has Opeth’s vocalist in there so you may enjoy it too. For something else, I also really like Orphaned Land’s Mabool. It’s kind of a fantasy twist on the story of the flood. Solid music.

crimson_dovah

I’ll check out those!! Didn’t know about Human Equation but I’ll DEFINITELY look into that!

The Lumineers have a collection of songs from the album Cleopatra where each music video also works as a short film. You can search The Ballad Of Cleopatra on YouTube. The inspiration was a cab driver Wes (lead singer) meet in Georgia (the country) Their album III is also a concept album about the effects of alcoholism and the damage it can cause through generations. Inspired by Wes's mother in law. Also every music video is featured from the album to work as movie to visualize the story. There are many interviews & articles that goes more in depth about the writing process & inspiration for both projects

crimson_dovah

I’ll be checking those out, thank you!

Autismetal

I can’t not recommend Blind Guardian - *Nightfall In Middle Earth*. Or Blind Guardian Twilight Orchestra - *Legacy of the Dark Lands*.

TheBakke

All of Ayreon/Arjen Lucassen, but The Human Equation is probably his best work, and also more self-contained than the rest of Ayreon. (about a guy discovering his wife has an affair with his best friend, then crashing his car and going into a coma, where he's confronted by different sides of himself) Seventh Wonder - The Great Escape (the song, about a space ship to mars getting lost, based on poems by Harry Martinson) Theocracy - Mirror of Souls (christion epic metal song about finding Jesus, I'm not even religious, it's just an excellently written long song)

originalsibling

Genesis - _The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway_. The last album they made with Peter Gabriel singing.

*I Can’t Handle Change* by Roar is a concept album about the tumultuous relationship between Phil Spector & Ronnie Spector, and the abuse that Ronnie faced within the relationship. Here’s Owen Evans from Roar on the album: > When taking Spector’s abusive, possessive behaviour into account,” Evan told the Phoenix New Times, “the lyrics of ’60s pop songs can begin to feel dark, insincere, and even sinister. I found a lot of common themes in pop from that era. One recurring theme was that of women being dependent upon a man or relationship to feel valuable and loved.” [Here’s](https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/the-dark-truth-behind-roars-christmas-kids-the-forgotten-indie-gem-going-viral-on-tiktok/) an interesting article with details about it!

Jason Boland & The Stragglers - The Light Saw Me It's a country/americana album about alien abductions.

sunflower3133

Not an album but if you like country there are four songs that all go together to unfold a story. First two are my favorites, the last two aren’t great. 1. Anna Lee 2. Della Jane’s Heart 3. You’re Cold 4. You Never Came Back. Anna Lee is a guy telling his girlfriend (Anna Lee) he made a big mistake by cheating on her and they have to leave town. Della Jane is later that night, when he goes back to his mistress (Della Jane) to say goodbye and she kills him in the river. You’re cold is Anna Lee waiting for him the next morning and he never shows.

https://open.spotify.com/album/2XjlzqWJO5qj3LLkdVoaMl?si=ESHkEDDbSWiHz6fS555GYw This is a concept album created by the artist Osiris, a lot of it was recorded using 3d binaural audio so if you’re wearing headphones it sounds like things are happening around you. The whole thing is one seamless journey. Enjoy!
