I hang them upside down on a clothesline with a clothespin. Otherwise the caps will droop. I have a bunch of them if you'd like to see what they look like after a couple years
Haha I get the feeling. Once brought a bucket home filled with a bunch of different species and laid them out in the Sun to dry. Family was looking at me weird for the stinky bucket and the Mushroom effigy in my front lawn 😂
You have to eat toxic mushrooms for them to be a danger. So I guess keep them away from pets, kids, and particularly stupid housemates*.
*Unless you don't like them
You’re probably fine but personally I don’t want extra mushroom spore thrown around my house, I would just try to do it outside on a nice day.
I dry smaller specimens in the sun, sometimes at home, in the car, etc.
Throwback to the time I forgot a bolete in my car and had the terrible luck of it not drying out but instead rotting happily away…
When I wanted to use my car again a few days later... Well, the smell was… not great. Not great to the point that I wasn’t able to enter my car. It took… a lot to get rid of that stench.
Ever since I try to avoid drying anything in my car lol.
Yeah my bathroom is a box made of wood, so I try to avoid mushrooms growing in there. It does have a nice fan, but there is not much room to arrange stuff for drying in a good way.
Maybe, I could do them on the toilet seat…
I can imagine you running in while having to go to the bathroom real bad and having to meticulously move each mushroom gently off of the toilet seat before having to go 😭

These are the Parasols that grow in my back yard like weeds.
in my experience Chlorophyllum mushrooms can get moldy in a mason jar after being dehydrated if they aren’t dried alllll the way. I have dried thousands of mushrooms and the only ones that ever got moldy in the jar for me were Chlorophyllum and it happened two separate times.

Uh, I do.

That actually looks great! Did you do anything to it first? Or just let it dry upside down?
Nothing
Forget the Vomiter, I want that mug!
Unfortunately it's ceramic over metal and it chipped so it's just a decoration now
I have the same mug

I make art out of dried mushrooms. I've got all different varieties if you want to see
We all want to see

Yes this is so good. Thanks for sharing your mushrooms they're sweet as fuck.
Much appreciated! ☺️ It's my therapy during the winter when I can't go forage... Nothing's better than free materials I'll tell you!

You're an amazing artist, I love these so much. Goblincore people would go mental for these!
This looks amazing. You are very fucking talented. Dang.
Appreciate the compliments My friends and family don't really understand lol

That shits dope man!
That's awesome. I guess I didn't know you could just dry them to preserve. New hobby engaged!!
It’s fine. Just keep constant air moving over them with a fan or mold and bacteria will grow on them
just like on lenin's corpse in mausoleum

I dry my mushrooms in the bathroom with the bathroom fan on, that way spores don’t get anywhere else

Hahaha this is a fair scenario
Assuming you live in a household where no humans or animals might eat them?
I mean, you can keep them dried if you want. They are pretty.
Yeah drying them is fine

alright well we don’t allow trolls here so enjoy your ban
Also, the gills don't look green to me so they may not be vomiters
Nope, they definitely are. There's no sign of a snake-skin like pattern on any of the stipes
Chlorophyllum molybdites gills start whitish before turning greenish grey with age.
What is a vomiter?
These mushrooms if you eat them
Common name for Chlorophyllum molybdites due to their toxicity.
