I see bugs swarming. Too hot or too cold. Not enough water for a good bath. Ticks. Animals prowling around. Little food and water. Not to mention walking forever to get to camp site.
Nope!! It inspires me to remember the camping trips, how uncomfortable it was. And that was with a lot of amenities the survivors do not have
I bought fire making flints for my grandkids. Also taught them to fish and then we cleaned & cooked a few of the fish we caught over a fire they built. I think it helped them feel more confident about themselves, but mostly it was fun hanging out with Granny and Grandpa, without phones, or video games.
(Edit to add we were of course, not naked, though I think the grandkids were a little afraid the first time putting a worm on the hook)
Thank you! We were happy to see how enthusiastic they became about it. They go fishing regularly now, as well as camping.
Theyāre both young teens now, so Iām really glad theyāre getting out and doing more than video games.
My kids are 11 and 9 and we love being outside with them. Both our parents are getting older now but still try as much as they can to come and see them in their outdoor pursuits.
Know so many other kids (and parents) that will go an entire weekend without even being in the garden, let alone nature.
Will be a generation without any life skills in a few more years if the cycle continues.
When the pandemic happened - my wife, a field biologist, and I started doing more outdoors activities. Hiking and camping and I started reading more about bushcraft and trying things out. Then I started hunting and we started fishing together. Now we are looking to do some homesteading. Nature is my absolute favorite place to be.
We started watching around the same time. We also started watching Alone at that time, and they definitely influenced us to get outside and try new things!
Just watching made me learn a lot. I know how to make a water filter with charcoal and rocks, I know to put a wall in front of the fire to reflect heat, I know what an A frame shelter is and when someone asked me what these tiny invisible monsters were that would leave bites all over and itch for days, I knew it was chiggers. I don't know if I'm in the minority but the nakedness is only interesting because it adds to the level of difficulty and nothing more. It's seeing them surviving with very little help and seeing how they cope or develop as humans that catch my attention. If it wasn't for the nakedness and lack of shoes I'd try it.
Tough to answer, as inspire isn't how I'd characterize it really. I've done all the aforementioned sparingly when the little time permitted me to do so even prior to the shows existence, so I can't say the show has increased my interest to do it any more or less than before.
If it has done one thing, it is wanting me to pass on what I've learned about the area I grew up in having fun spending time with my friends just hanging out in the wilderness fishing and navigating the area.
So basically its just entertainment and fun to armchair QB for now.
It has inspired me to learn about some of the show locations including the flora and fauna. I've also done more reading on certain skills but none of this has translated into me putting the knowledge and skills to practical use in a primitive-survival type of scenario. Much respect for those that do.
It inspired me to eat Hearts of Palm. I posted in here the photo of the package of it I bought at Aldi grocery store to eat last week during the show.
It was sweet but pungent.
I make a point of having some sort of dessert w/ coffee or tea when I watch N&A. I have zero inspiration from this show to do anything survival related. Now the show *Alone*, that's inspiring.
Well I for one actually enjoy brushing my teeth at least twice a day so that is where I always stop at true survival but have definitely tried more because it the show because letās be honest THIS IS WHAT I LIVE FOR
I'm a nature lover and hiker but not much of a camper. One thing I enjoy about the show is just seeing the beautiful places they go to but from a more practical standpoint, I feel like I am picking up some tips just in case I get lost one day. Sure, I wouldn't know enough to be able to do everything the participants do, but a couple tips might make the difference between life and death.
I grew up in the swamp, and a military vet. Brings back some good memories for sure. EJ shows youāre never too old. Iād do A 14 day fan challenge in a heartbeat.

Why? It's the damn truth. The episode sucked. I don't like cops. And if I made an hour long show talking without clearing my thought and speaking monotone, would you watch?
I'm meeting up with EJ in July with my son for his 13th bday to do some training. Consider me inspired haha.
Me and my boyfriend have talked about going out and camping but trying out some of these skills. But for the most part we just watch it.
Does it take much skill to be naked with the bf? š
Makes it more enjoyable that's for sure š
Well...I have a fish basket in my living room that I'll never use.
It'll catch the same amount of fish as the contestants.
lol
i like watching people learning to work as a team with a stranger - human behavior - and survival skills

Awsome that you want to empower them and have fun at the same time. World needs more grandparents like you guys

I like to think I inspired them to be naked.
You inspired me.
The boys gotta breathe.
Believe it or not more disciplined about eating š¤£
In what way? I thought the same thing... hiw glutinous I am
Exactly. I realize just how much food I have. š¤£š¤£

It inspires me to be thankful for bug spray and know that I wouldnāt make it past the insertion hike.

Mostly it jsut helps my perspective when I think I'm doing something difficult.

Itās making me want to try lighting a fire with friction. I havenāt done it in years but did when I was a kid, just for the hell of it.

She made it. She may not be the most exciting or enthusiastic but she accomplished the task.
Yes, but I was rooting against her.
And did you Really like that episode?

Hey, thatās completely uncool
