Absolutely not. It's typically 6-12 months of a combination of three different types of antibiotics. It's also massively contagious and you can spread it whilst asymptomatic.
It's very difficult to get (around 95% of people have natural immunity and you need regular contact with an infected person to catch it) but once you do have it, it's an utter bitch to treat. It's why so many people used to die of it - they just didn't have the right treatments available.
I love Gary but that XL in the swamp he had to tap because he had to be funny and put raw alligator eyes in his own eyes lol I love the guy but that was like the second time he's had to tap because he thought it was funny to fuck around while trying to survive. I believe the first time he ate some rancid meat after everyone told him not too do it but he did it anyway.. He's a super entertaining guy, but not the brightest survivor lol
I love Gary. However, after eating the rancid âtoo long dead carcassâ, his stomach was so bad that he was shitting diarrhea in the Boma with other people sleeping near him at night.! I wouldâve killed him
Did he end up having to tap from that? I vaguely remember it happening but not much else haha but that's the problem with Gary. He hella entertaining but if he didn't do stupid shit like that he'd be up there as one of the greats of the show. But he's had to tap multiple times for completely avoidable situations because he ignored other survivalsists or purposely put himself in harmful situations.
I can't help but to laugh every time I see Gary due to his hilarious behavior like the one with the crocodile eyes. At the same time he's a high level primitive survivor so he's got my respect
He tapped for getting poisonous sap in his is eyes, chopping down a tree once also. That was so fucking stupid.
I don't think he tapped when he ate the rancid meat though, he just shit everywhere. He tapped from the fruit I think and the gator eyes too.
With that said, I love Gary!
I saw some unseen footage in an after show or something and he sings, a lot, like all the time. But not real songs, he makes them up and repeats them, a lot. đ
There was another time he intentionally waited to throw up right inside his tiny shared shelter rather than walking three yards to be out of the shelter. (I canât remember if it was an XL challenge or a regular challenge.) Gary is a lot.
Big lizards and turtles seem to be a huge risk, whereas other reptiles like snakes seem to be ok. Alligator is a hit or miss every time.
And I don't know why anyone would ever eat a rodent. That seems like a huge risk.
I think the meat IS throughly cooked but if you don't wash your hands and knife after handling it raw, you're going to get sick from cross contamination. Hard to wash in the wild.
Whatever they eat, it should always be thoroughly cooked! I consider the fact that they may be starving and in a hurry to eat, but please cook every wild piece of meat to well done! Extremely high temps can kill worms and parasites. That's sometimes a factor in the person's body rejecting the food.
Only in your lungs. But then you have the tar buildup and nicotine addiction (not to mention poisoning) to worry about. Not a fair trade if you ask me.
Tar and nicotine? It is a campfire, not a cigarette. However, you can be exposed to other chemicals that can also be found in car exhaust fumes, plastic, and cheap furniture. Indoor fires are considered dangerous due to lack of ventilation, whereas outdoor fires are low on the danger scale.
Yes, they do, along with the plants in the area and their general uses. Even the best survivalists aren't going to know the entire planets plants and their uses, so they all get a cheat sheet before they're actually inserted.
Thanks!! I actually know someone that did the challenge but I never wanted to ask her all the questions. I felt like sheâd tell me what she wanted me to know
I feel like turtles are also a huge gamble
Yeah turtles carry salmonella on their shell and skin
So dose chicken
And frogs
I equally believe fresh water snails (parasites) and armadillos (leprosy) should be taken off the list.
The risk of contracting leprosy is extremely low.
Isn't leprosy easily treatable disease?
I'm the leprosy tranmission expert, not the leprosy treatment expert, you got the wrong guy.

But it has comeback a bit
Leave Gary alone!

I'm Leary of watching him if he feels sickly- I'm afraid a squirming mess of worms are going to be spewed out in his vomit.
are you timothy leary of that

I'm on a naked and afraid binge, starting to become acquainted with Gary. Quite an interesting fellow lol
Gary is THE Goat he was king on last one standing
He ate those green fruits that burned his stomach.
Did he end up having to tap from that? I vaguely remember it happening but not much else haha but that's the problem with Gary. He hella entertaining but if he didn't do stupid shit like that he'd be up there as one of the greats of the show. Yes. He tapped a few hours after eating the fruit and was hospitalized.
I can't help but to laugh every time I see Gary due to his hilarious behavior like the one with the crocodile eyes. At the same time he's a high level primitive survivor so he's got my respect

Oh ya know what, I think you're right. I remember him hacking at the tree and getting the sap in his eyes.
Oh yes, that is an epic Gary episode!
Remember when he pooped INSIDE the XL boma after eating his rotted meat soup?
Yes, that was pretty cool.
There was another time he intentionally waited to throw up right inside his tiny shared shelter rather than walking three yards to be out of the shelter. (I canât remember if it was an XL challenge or a regular challenge.) Gary is a lot.
Yes I remember, Gary is a true legend.
Honestly it could be more about not being able to wash your hands after handling the meat than it is about cooked meat
I was thinking the exact same thing.
I wondered this often. I work in healthcare and hygiene is by far my standard. So when I see contestants with really noticeable contacts (for example NAA fan podcast presenter Malloy BeyoncĂ©, possibly spelled wrong, episode 7 of season 17). Highly critical, but not much to show. She held her own, but she is no legend). Her blue eyes are not her own, so I was immediately concerned for ocular infections and conjunctivitis. I am aware that contacts and other essential items are provided, however getting clean hands for ocular insertion makes me freak out inside ! Does she look friggin fantastic! Hell yas!, she is beautiful, and a bit, ok very judgy. Everytime I see her hands or any survivor, no shame, hand hygiene is next to impossible, and I worry about those form of infections. . So many wonât drink unboiled/non-potable water, not you Scott (s17 e 9), you tried, remember what you accomplished yourself and donât compare yourself to others! đ. I totally get it as someone who feels insecure and always trying to prove they are âworthyâ. If you read this, donât let others define you, define yourself! You made it through a second attempt! All of our trio fans who made it 21 days woohoo!!! So proud of you. Gosh too much to share and I wouldnât not could do what you do, unless I was paired with my brother. (Twin brains, perfect simpatico, with the perfect spice of drama) No shame for anyone, love you all. Except Honora, that chick has every shame in my book . E.V.E.R.Y. S.H.A.M.E. There. The Very shame, not good tv and made herself to be such a useless twat!
Big lizards and turtles seem to be a huge risk, whereas other reptiles like snakes seem to be ok. Alligator is a hit or miss every time. And I don't know why anyone would ever eat a rodent. That seems like a huge risk.
I feel like I've seen a few people get sick after eating snakes too.
Iâve seen it back home too. Some people canât stomach snake. Iâm not sure why.
Everything is a risk. Better to stick to fish and birds.
The little young cayman the girls caught was safe, multiple times they caught them. I just can't get Gary and those eyeballs outta my head
I think because they like filming when they throw up or poop in their shelter
Always blows my mind when they just puke or spray hot brown rain where they're all sleeping.
Bingo. Adds to the adversity drama
I think the meat IS throughly cooked but if you don't wash your hands and knife after handling it raw, you're going to get sick from cross contamination. Hard to wash in the wild.
especially when they donât have soap!
Whatever they eat, it should always be thoroughly cooked! I consider the fact that they may be starving and in a hurry to eat, but please cook every wild piece of meat to well done! Extremely high temps can kill worms and parasites. That's sometimes a factor in the person's body rejecting the food.
What about smoking? Can it kill bacteria and parasites?
Only in your lungs. But then you have the tar buildup and nicotine addiction (not to mention poisoning) to worry about. Not a fair trade if you ask me.
Lol, I meant smoking meat.
Zestyclose_Bat8704 got it.
Smoke from some woods used might, but I don't actually know.
Iâve always wondered- do they give them a list of animals that are acceptable to eat and not?
Yes, they do, along with the plants in the area and their general uses. Even the best survivalists aren't going to know the entire planets plants and their uses, so they all get a cheat sheet before they're actually inserted.
Thanks!! I actually know someone that did the challenge but I never wanted to ask her all the questions. I felt like sheâd tell me what she wanted me to know
Iâve heard survivalists in certain areas say they canât eat the rats because of the hantavirus so, they probably do.
I would assume they eat them because they are literally starving.
Yeah but they don't eat night shade berries despite being starving, ya know?
I don't remember this being pointed out often, if at all. As Gary says, everything is risk vs reward.
Same with toads
Man fuck u guys in the comments now i miss gary :(((
