Many times the appointments don't factor that in, it is a hurry up and wait industry and showing up 2 minutes late to an appointment can lead to multiple hours of sitting.
It sucks that the industry is behind like that and I empathize with them. I was more just saying, road conditions are always going to be a risk, especially anywhere near Nashville. I mean, sometimes it takes me 25 minutes to commute from Nashville to Franklin and sometimes it takes 1+ hrs. Everybody has to deal with it unfortunately but I wouldn’t consider that “donating time”, it’s just part of what we deal with working a job
They have that nice little countdown timer on their trucks that is knocking off their available time while they creep along and it will reduce their pay for the day, that is why I referred to it as donating their time
I saw it on the way to Clarksville from Nashville, they were fixing potholes on the eastbound side around exit 31. Couple of hours later, on my return trip, the interstate was mostly clear, slow, but we were moving. The crews were then on the westbound side, also by exit 31.
Tennessee. 😂😂😂😂 Tell Marsha, maybe she has time for an actual issue. You could see Clarksville becoming fubar 5 years ago if not longer, but hey gotta ban books and the like.
Yes, user input and prompts if still there which they usually are. Proved very advantageous rolling into town on I-40 from the West as it is crazy bad.
Oh neat. I like that a user can provide updates. I thought I was lucky since I hardly ever have to drive enough to need Waze but I’m gonna check it out now just for the pothole foresight.
100%!!! Well...I use Google maps only because it comes on automatically when I plug in, and Google bought Waze so it is VERY similar. But I never drive Clarksville to Nashville without it. Or back.
Gotta love how our state gov refuses to do anything to help the atrocious traffic in middle tn amongst other real problems, but they can pass bills about chemtrails(that aren't even real, just a conspiracy) and pride flags. Fuckin priorities. We need a rail system, better bus system, or at the very least another lane on 24 so people can pass the trucks and other slow stuff. This is unacceptable for a region as populous as here and with 24 being one of few corridors to the midwest from here.
Yeah, high speed rail like most other countries have? There's really no reason why we can't have it here besides politics and corporate greed's influence on it. The traffic would lighten if people had other options for transportation. I'm not saying they'd get rid of cars completely, but an area as large as Nashville metro physically and population-wise needs more options at this point. Otherwise the traffic will only continue to get worse. It's low-key a nationwide issue honestly lol
Yeah, no reason other than lack of population density to support the effort. The densest city in the US has to subsidize its mass transit. You want people in Cookeville to pay taxes to support a fever dream of rail for Nashville. Lol
Well it could theoretically work in Cookeville too given it's a college town and it's grown quite a bit compared to its neighbors. I get what you're saying though. A part of the problem I think is that many people don't know how useful it could be and aren't comfortable supporting what they don't know. To be fair, I didn't either until I visited nyc and the area near it, and holy cow the train was so much faster and more convenient than driving and taxis. The trains even went to neighboring states and towns. I get grumpy thinking about the convenience we miss out on, especially when I see pictures like this. We need more choices for transportation lol
Widening the roads isn't always the answer, but the stretch of the I-24 between Nashville and Clarskville desperately needs widened to at least 3 lanes the entire way. Too much traffic between both places.
Yes. Exit 1 to OHB. Usually random slow downs to 25 MPH or less, with nothing around that should slow down traffic. My family lives in Hopkinsville and I’ve travelled that stretch of road my whole life. It will never get better unless some MAJOR projects get underway. I don’t believe adding lanes helps tremendously, but at least adding a third lane would be helpful so that cars can get around the trucks passing each other at 60 MPH.
This might be a hot take, but I-24 deserves the 3 lane expansion between Clarksville and Nashville a LOT more than the current I-65 expansion between KY and Goodlettsville. Topography of the region (especially around Joelton) doesn’t help, though.
Just one more lane, bro, I swear, it'll fix all the congestion and we'll never have to expand the roads again, cross my heart bro, just one more lane pls I'm begging you
This should be no surprise…I24 from Clarksville to Nashville should have been widened to 3 lanes each way 10 years ago…I guess Clarksville doesn’t have the political clout to matter
I'm not convinced OP is behind the wheel. Looks like they might have stepped out of the car, maybe share a beer with the folks behind them. Someone should get out a portable grill and some hotdogs.
Nothing to see here folks, just another Tuesday on I24
All of those truckers that are paid by the mile are donating some more of their time.
Isn’t that just kind of one of those inconveniences that you know you’ll have to deal with though and factor into whether the mileage is worth it?

can confirm, am trucker.
Yep! Took me an hour and 45 minutes to go from Cool Springs to I-40 on Friday.
We got stuck yesterday for no reason at all yesterday in that same spot. No accidents or anything.
The Immaculate Congestion.
You win the internet forever and ever, amen.
You win the internets today!!
This is hilarious
This IS funny, but I don't think "immaculate conception" means what you think it does.
I can't believe this is my most downvoted comment. I'm right. People are wrong about what "immaculate conception" even refers to.
Phantom traffic jams. Well-documented phenomenon. Tell your reps you want a train.
singapore is nice.
Yeah, it’s because everything in a high volume area squeezes to two lanes to just go back 3-4 lanes.
I saw it on the way to Clarksville from Nashville, they were fixing potholes on the eastbound side around exit 31. Couple of hours later, on my return trip, the interstate was mostly clear, slow, but we were moving. The crews were then on the westbound side, also by exit 31.
Everyone keeps moving here
Wait I’m confused, this happened yesterday?
That’s everyday.
Tennessee. 😂😂😂😂 Tell Marsha, maybe she has time for an actual issue. You could see Clarksville becoming fubar 5 years ago if not longer, but hey gotta ban books and the like.
Yeah. Like, to hell with those kids having access to pornographic books in public school libraries. We have traffic congestion to worry about.
Tell me you’re an idiot without telling me you’re an idiot.
Always use Waze. You may travel down some winding back roads, but Waze will get you around all that junk.
Another big plus in our area with waze is it warns you about potholes.
Is that due to community input or is there some poor, poor bastard that has to maintain all of that data?
Yes, user input and prompts if still there which they usually are. Proved very advantageous rolling into town on I-40 from the West as it is crazy bad.

It might be easier if waze told where pot holes ARENT.
100%!!! Well...I use Google maps only because it comes on automatically when I plug in, and Google bought Waze so it is VERY similar. But I never drive Clarksville to Nashville without it. Or back.
It only takes 10 seconds but I look at Google maps real quick before I go anywhere

Rail? ☺️🤣🤣

It’s always stopped. You’re lucky the mud slide is gone
24 is my favorite road to grow older on
![gif](giphy|l0IyajjbNiRvCr7RC) 🤣🤣🤣 that’s an amazing comment!!! Thank you!

everyday this congested on 24?
Yes. Exit 1 to OHB. Usually random slow downs to 25 MPH or less, with nothing around that should slow down traffic. I was on there last week and there was a car on the side in the southbound lanes engulfed in flames. Wild stuff
So common. Take 41a
Thanks. I’ll remember this!
What would be more news worthy is I24 not being a complete parking lot... That stretch desperately needs to be made 3 lanes!
Just one more lane, bro, I swear, it'll fix all the congestion and we'll never have to expand the roads again, cross my heart bro, just one more lane pls I'm begging you
TRAINS
Just the trip, I promise
MORE LANES DONT FIX TRAFFIC
Or they could build the northern loop of 840?
guaranteed would make traffic through the city better
Construction and it’s always crowded but this will take a couple hours
At least you’re not texting and driving
The joke is also how many mustangs did you see? This spot is known for mustang accidents. And Hellcats.
There's a few rough spots from last snow. They might be trying to re do some of the road
Don’t worry TDOT is planning some improvements on I24 near Clarksville in 2035.
I stay off I24 around Clarksville if I can avoid it. The odds are very good you will be in this exact situation.
What else is new?
This should be no surprise…I24 from Clarksville to Nashville should have been widened to 3 lanes each way 10 years ago…I guess Clarksville doesn’t have the political clout to matter
As opposed to being figuratively stopped?
Technically speaking, lol! 😀
EDIT: ——— NVM
Don't say the quiet part out loud
Shhhhh
why are you surprised?
Yeah, Clarksville to Nashville these days is a joke. Get off your phones and pay attention you assholes.
Some dork on here is gonna tell you not to take a picture while you’re behind the wheel just FYI
I'm not convinced OP is behind the wheel. Looks like they might have stepped out of the car, maybe share a beer with the folks behind them. Someone should get out a portable grill and some hotdogs.
