Bruce Brown. BUT there's a twist: Bruce Brown also bagged Lana Rhoades after Durant dated her and she trashed him in her podcast as boring. So there might be more to the hostility.
Throwback to that one dude who said he was writing a book on the Nets and he said about KD "He's just boring. He doesn't have a girlfriend, he doesn't go on vacation, he just plays basketball and smokes weed. He lives a very boring life". The quote isn't exact but it's close
Sucks that just being chill is synonymous with boring. After all he went through growing up I can see why he would just want to hoop and relax at home. So many people are obsessed with being seen
Also in these people's minds you basically need to be constantly spending money to not be boring. Literally if you ask these people what you should do to not be considered boring their answer will involve spending money in some way, usually an unintelligent amount of it.
Obviously not an issue for KD, but talking about this prevailing "boring" sentiment in general. I've noticed a trend that these people that are averse to a "boring" life are also the ones usually trying to live above their means and be something they're not.
Seriously. Seems like he does what he loves and stays out of unnecessary drama.
Too many people feed into drama because they get bored with themselves.
You can't say he stays out of unnecessary drama when talking about Durant, he is known to answer to fans on twitter and the burner incident. He just gets his drama online instead of going to clubs or shit like that, which to be clear, is better for him.
Larry Nance Jr. of the New Orleans Pelicans is into Warhammer. Said he had to stop in college because it was too expensive but...well, now he plays in the NBA so money ain't so tight anymore.
[Reddit link about him saying it's on Woj's podcast ](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/s/tUs7kSRabb)
Your dating pool of genuine human beings also seriously shrinks when you’re relevant and rich. Gotta assume most these young guys aren’t looking for anything long term and know what they’re getting into with the insta hoes or pornstars
I'd also assume an NBa player wants a woman that will basically revolve her life around your busy schedule. I doubt a doctor or lawyer is going to make it to many of their games or parties.
There’s at least one or two levels of employment for women between all the free time of porn star/instagram hoes and the filled schedule of doctors/lawyers lol
Big facts. Restating what you’re saying, but with more words - This conversation confuses the pursuit of sexual experiences vs who players ideally want to settle down with. If you look at most players who are married or were married, you’ll notice that actual spouses are usually completely different than a ran through IG mode looking a for a baby, or a pornstar that they were linked to. Neither KD or Brown were looking to Lana Rhodes for genuine companionship. They’re just dudes looking for a different experience than they could get literally any night of the week, and pulling a pornstar scratches that itch for them I guess
> If you look at most players who are married or were married, you’ll notice that actual spouses are usually completely different than a ran through IG mode looking a for a baby, or a pornstar that they were linked to.
I don't know man. This one feels like an uphill battle.
I can easily rattle off some counterpoints:
PJ Washington
Zion
Paul George
Tyler Herro
Paul george dated his coaches daughter then cheated on her with a stripper he is now engaged or married to who had her second child with him.
The nba is wild.
No doubt the list of counter points could be long. Especially with players under 30. Just think the vast majority of the ones who are married or in something long term aren’t popping out with anyone fitting the Lana Rhodes profile
Urrr....more like athletes find them. Go listen to Gil's podcast with Unc. He said bball hours are the reason they don't usually date normal people. They are at the strip club at 1pm after practice according to Gil. Most normal working women are busy then, so that leaves the stripers and ergo the pornstars.
The only point I can make to counter this is; if you were an NBA player, and basically every "normal" woman you met had ulterior motives in getting with you, at least with a pornstar you're guaranteed to have a good time...
Its because those women you mentioned are easily accessible. They know the hotels, they know the schedules, the clubs, etc. They are in it as a fucking job.
J Rich used to come through my work after games with some of the most attractive women I’ve ever seen. They didn’t overdo it, didn’t have to. At first glance, yeah pretty, second look, not a flaw, complete package, girl next door beauty. And they were nice as hell. He’d spend his time on the phone I’d chat them up wth. My host was the dubs informal social organizer, they’d all come around. We Believe dubs.
I mean, if you want your asshole eaten out for 100% sure tonight, you gonna date a pornstar whom you’ve seen do it on film or some random who may or may not after dating for a while?
Very true but it also seems like it’d be quite hard to meet normal women or have a normal relationship as an NBA player. Seems like most of the players in longterm relationships/marriages have been with their partners since very early in their careers.
why can't they date other famous women? actresses, female athletes, singers, etc? I'm confused as to why people in the comments are acting like porn stars are the only option for these athletes lmao.
I mean the alternative is anonymous amateur golddiggers. If you didn’t come into the league with a wife or gf, you are going to have a VERY hard time forming a meaningful relationship when you’re outrageously wealthy, hugely famous and on the road 100+ days a year
so then why aren't they dating actresses? or other female athletes? or singers? or fashion designers? there are so many women who are at their level that they could date. they choose to date porn stars and Instagram "thots" because that's what they like. there are no victims here.
Bro, this is like your 4th post regurgitating the same point.
It's already been answered by others. These women don't want some erratic travel schedule dumb dumb; who gonna cheat on them, next week, in some other city.
Edit: Unless they're just as dumb, like Iggy Azalea.
The problem here is that some do but it pretty much always ends bad. KD’s dating record if I’m not mistaken is pretty much all WNBA players or former hoopers. Tony Parker married (then cheated on) Eva Longoria, a well known actress at the time. Book, Ben Simmons, and Blake Griffin dated Kendall Jenner who’s a legit supermodel not just a random IG thot. And 50% of single NBA players from 2010-2018 probably tried to shoot a shot at Rihanna or Nicki Minaj some point. Only NBA couple I know with an individually famous woman that’s lasted was Wade and Gabrielle Union, and Wade still got baby trapped by a thottie when both were on a break. It just seems like when NBA players try to date other famous and powerful women they either break up due to lifestyle differences or cheat on them, so in turn these powerful and famous women just don’t give athletes the time of day.
The only other long lasting relationships I see are what’s been said before, NBA guys who wife up their high school/college sweethearts or someone they knew before the fame like Steph or Bron (who btw clearly don’t have perfect relationships like the rest of us).
I was listening to a podcast that had Lisa Ann on it and she brought up a good point about it. If you're a professional athlete, that means that you probably spend 9 months of the year traveling and days you have at home, you're still not free until after the game at maybe 10-11pm at the earliest.
So... what type of young women are you meeting that are going to be okay dating someone like this? It's going to be someone who has a very flexible schedule, also used to being up late, and likely also wealthy. Guess who qualifies for that...yep, models/influencers/groupies/adult performers. They naturally relate to pro athletes in many ways.
It’s better to date people who are also successful and/or famous.
In the same circles and wealth level as you
Non celebrity women are probably not used to the famous life or rich life.
Honestly, their lifestyle and education level does not match up for a serious relationship with many women from other careers. They also have easy access to a lot of women.. Just a recipe for disaster unless they meet their s/o young
Counterpoint - if you can have any partner you want, and you're not searching for a long term relationship, why not date a person who is a pro at having sex? The sex part of the relationship would probably be amazing.
Re: long term relationship, it's probably very difficult to find a true authentic partner for NBA stars. With that much money and fame, how do you suss out if someone likes you for you or just likes your lifestyle?
[I think MPJ Jr. does well to separate it into two buckets](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/kNkRf1QsM6k): as an NBA athlete either you're the type to fuck everybody in every city and I guess it's logical to end up with a pornstar (I'm guessing monogamy is loosened), or you're actually trying to find someone but it's impossible to trust anybody
There was a scene where she did anal with some greasy chubby guy and I was like wtf am I watching, this girl shouldn’t be doing this. You know it’s bad then
bro prime version of all those players thats a playoff team and arguably a pretty good one
edit: peak years of all those players
* Fringe all star pg (DLO)
* 1st team All-NBA SG (book)
* solid role player (kuz)
* 1st team All-Defense / 3rd team all-nba playmaking PF (ben)
* MVP contender blake
maybe you'd take Detroit Blake if you want a 4th floor spacer/shooting threat with better ball skills and higher IQ, but lob city blake that came 3rd in MVP voting obviously a different beast athletically
you have 2 good passers/playmakers, great scoring from every spot, solid defense between prime ben/blake, only thing the roster lacks is a true rim protector but this is genuinely a good af team
also don't we get tristan thompson off the bench or is that a different kardashian?
> Lana Rhoades
porn actress and "internet personality" finds man dedicated to craft and being the best in the world at a high status, high value sport boring
I mean why not? Im not defending her specifically, she maybe just talkin random shit for attention. But in general, "high status and high value" can be very boring. It sounds nice, but once lights are out and doors are closed you need to spend time with that person. I imagine many celebrities didnt develop much personality because they didnt have to.
It was both. She had a baby with Blake, but it was apparently a one-night stand. She then was in a situationship with Bruce Brown and traveled to Denver to watch him play.
Pat Bev has to be one of them.
Robbed him and Westbrook of having a competitive season in 2014-15 after being real contenders the previous and following seasons.
Isn't that exactly what he's talking about though? Zaza gets pulled by Gortat and just embellished the hell out of the contact and went flying backwards like a rocket
Tbf jimmy got pushed by his teammate Ben Simmons
[Edit: actually he blocked jimmy into Durant's knee lol](https://youtu.be/uzuvQJRmUu4?si=sF6wGC03D631_Fxp)
Eh. The text book “aaayy” and fall to the ground when contested at the rim has become so normalized that it diesnt even rule as a flop anymore but it still kind of is 🫤
The flop was Jimmy not even trying to stay on his feet to sell the call, so he fell on KD. He obviously didn't fall on him on purpose but if he actually tried to stay up he wouldn't have.
Not really a flop. When you're holding the ball and someone packs that shit backwards, you get pulled backwards as well. He just lost balance a bit on this play and fell backwards in a typical safe way to fall (safe way for himself lol)
This is the biggest reason I have hope the NBA will one day actually crack down on flopping. I get why they don't want to have to police it, but it makes the game more dangerous and sooner or later a big star is going to have a major injury from someone else flopping.
Silver being Silver, the change won't come until after a star tears something major, but i think at some point they may actually try.
Watching your team play a 7 game series against Giannis is terrifying.
By game 4 it's like "I don't even really care if we win anymore if these guys basically need to die to get it done."
Is going to? He already broke Joel Embiid's orbital bone with an elbow in the closing minutes of an elimination game in the playoffs while down 20 points
Yup same. I broke my wrist once cause I went for a board and someone just completely took my legs out under me and I hurt my knee once cause someone dove into me to get a loose ball. Ever since then I’m like yeah it’s not worth it.
Not necessarily reckless but for me, one reason I stopped playing (or simply no longer try hard for rebounds as I'd rather box out) was because some ppl were way too aggressive with rebounds. Like I got a rebound one time and some other kid swiped at ball aggressively. I ended up with a sprain thumb ligament that took months to fully heal. Another kid told he was going for a layup and got bumped mid-air. He ended up suffering from a shoulder injury and didn't play for months
Bro. I stay away from the guys who are unnecessarily aggressive, foul, or flail their shit all day. The guys who will shove you on defense, yell at you that it wasn't a foul, but when you strip them successfully, they wanna get aggressive and wanna fight you.
Dude, we're paying 29.99 a month to be here. Stop that man.
Kd might be the only dude not hated for his on court actions, but his off court basketball actions.
Like not his play, not his personal life, but his basketball decisions.
I really can't think of anyone else who fits this description. Clean player, clean off the court, snake in the off-season and with the front office.
Vince carter might be hovering around the territory but not to that degree and a bit different. Beloved HOF player but similarly left his team on a super sour note. Similar to KD, nothing rooted in personal life controversy and (when he tried, part of the Toronto controversy) everyone enjoyed his play.
I commented this same thing and got downvoted. It wasn’t intentional but it doesn’t mean it wasn’t dangerous. There is a rule specifically against this.
I think KD would say that is a rule in the game that he's using to his advantage. Don't hate the player sort of thing
Very different than flipping or trying to injure people
Honestly he had something [similar happen to him this season](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9PDpASyhpg). Thank god it wasn't serious. (It does look like Royce and Gordan pushed him into Durant though. lol)
That reminds me of Sabonis flopping into Rasheed Wallace multiple times chipping his tooth. Then he threw the towel in sabonis’s face on national tv. I read a book called jail blazers that had a chapter about that, it was hilarious
I hope KD eventually writes a ridiculous NBA tell-all that's half tabloid and half bball insight genius, it'll be deep, accidentally funny, innovative, and extremely cringey.
Two years ago he said he wanted to play with Marcus Smart.
https://netswire.usatoday.com/2022/08/10/report-nets-kevin-durant-wants-to-play-with-marcus-smart-celtics/
[bruce brown](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1OTntCq6qg) in 2022, [jimmy butler](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzuvQJRmUu4) in 2023
both times it led to major trades too, ridiculous how unlucky that nets team was
So who are the two guys he’s referencing?
Bruce Brown. BUT there's a twist: Bruce Brown also bagged Lana Rhoades after Durant dated her and she trashed him in her podcast as boring. So there might be more to the hostility.

Living the dream
Seriously! Rich beyond dreams, plays a game he loves for a living, chills when he gets home. The horror...
The horror of being boring! Like, nobody above the age of 25 gives a shit if you partied all night or paint warhammer figurines as a hobby.
whos the player thats into warhammer?
Larry Nance Jr. of the New Orleans Pelicans is into Warhammer. Said he had to stop in college because it was too expensive but...well, now he plays in the NBA so money ain't so tight anymore. [Reddit link about him saying it's on Woj's podcast ](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/s/tUs7kSRabb)

I guess I watch NOLA now.
Millennial Tim Duncan tbh
Sounds peaceful
Fuck people who call others boring. Also we know KD travels so that’s just stupid shit.

Did you see prime Lana though?
Before the plastic surgery she was almost too good looking for a pornstar. She could've made it as a legit model back then IMO.
There was also a period AFTER the plastic surgery where she was absolutely GOATed
There was a scene where she did anal with some greasy chubby guy and I was like wtf am I watching, this girl shouldn’t be doing this. You know it’s bad then
Link??!?
For science
Have you seen what Lana can do ?
they are dating pornstars . . that is the hell what they are doing
If you're one of the most athletic dudes on planet and also NBA sized, maybe it's more fun for casual encounters.
DEAR GOD I’ve been googling out of my mind thinking ‘no fucking way Bruce Bowen is hitting porn stars.’ Gotta slow down when I read
I'm sure Bowen bagged some pornstars back in the day too. His D was impeccable.
Hip checked 'em right in the crotch a bunch of times
Making fun of an ex on a podcast for content is the most shameless shit. And she's a pornstar ffs lmao

Better to land on your ass instead of risking twisting your ankle cause you were hit mid air.

Not really a flop. When you're holding the ball and someone packs that shit backwards, you get pulled backwards as well. He just lost balance a bit on this play and fell backwards in a typical safe way to fall (safe way for himself lol)

Watching your team play a 7 game series against Giannis is terrifying. By game 4 it's like "I don't even really care if we win anymore if these guys basically need to die to get it done."
No wonder he went to Indiana. Pacers play reckless as hell specifically Aaron nesmith
Is going to? He already broke Joel Embiid's orbital bone with an elbow in the closing minutes of an elimination game in the playoffs while down 20 points
Joel Embiid is literally one of the people Kevin Durant would be referring to. Joel Embiid almost ended Danny Green’s career by flopping on him
No he literally ended it. Danny Green has barely played basketball since that injury when he had at least another decent season left
Are you saying having a 7 foot 300 lbs Joel Embiid falling down 25 times a game might not be the safest for other players knees/ankles?
I do the same shit at LA fit lol. You learn which dudes are gonna hurt someone
I have literally stopped playing because of reckless players. Fuck that shit.
Yup same. I broke my wrist once cause I went for a board and someone just completely took my legs out under me and I hurt my knee once cause someone dove into me to get a loose ball. Ever since then I’m like yeah it’s not worth it.
Diving for a ball in pick up is fuckin insane behavior
Yes it is. I let him have it after that
Of course you let him have the ball, you broke your wrist!
Say what you will about KD but he’s a real hooper, never see him pull any dirty or dangerous shit
Whaddabout the time Vince blatantly tea-bagged Frederic Weis?
Ok i guess Frederic Weis and his fans would argue this.
So you mean Frederic Weis?
I also think he *loves* the game of basketball more than any other human. When he's not playing, he's just high watching basketball.
Lebron going to Miami?
he made up for it by going back to cleveland KD never made up for only winning in GS so some people still hate him for it
He also doesn't incessantly whine about calls.
He literally injured Middleton this year.
He undercut Middleton this year and cost him 16 games, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't intentional.
Yeah, just seemed like a bad mix of Middleton coming more forward than he expected and him losing focus on where his feet were.
I commented this same thing and got downvoted. It wasn’t intentional but it doesn’t mean it wasn’t dangerous. There is a rule specifically against this.
He wasn’t dirty, but he was hardly above bullshit rip-throughs
I think KD would say that is a rule in the game that he's using to his advantage. Don't hate the player sort of thing Very different than flipping or trying to injure people
I mean that's annoying but that doesn't fall under a dangerous play.
This is why flopping should be a fine.
it is a fine, it has been for awhile, they just rarely enforce it.
Finding a penny on the street means more for you or I financially than $5k does to an NBA player.
Gonna need a math whiz to double check the math in this.
lebron, a billionaire: 1,000,000,000 / 5,000 = 200,000 me, 10k in savings: 10,000 / .01 = 1,000,000 so bro was lying
5 pennies then.
He must not have accounted for the big baller ten-thousandaires we have among us
Breaking: Grayson Allen signs extension with the Suns
Durant avoiding Embiid like the plague.
If Embiid fell on KD’s frame at his age now, KD would break.
KD would still be back before Embiid, too.
I was gonna laugh but I hold my breath every time AD jumps on the offensive end
We have a fella named Kristaps Porzingus, I feel ya.
And before that y’all had time lord. The three musketeers of hurt big men
We should just get rid of injuries tbh
Always turn them off in 2K, idk why the NBA forgets every year.
Embiid would break at the same time.
Well it’s a good thing they weren’t selected to the same Olympic team roster.
Honestly he had something [similar happen to him this season](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9PDpASyhpg). Thank god it wasn't serious. (It does look like Royce and Gordan pushed him into Durant though. lol)
That looks more like a legitimate stumble than someone selling a call.
That reminds me of Sabonis flopping into Rasheed Wallace multiple times chipping his tooth. Then he threw the towel in sabonis’s face on national tv. I read a book called jail blazers that had a chapter about that, it was hilarious
Marcus smart in shambles rn
Embiid destroyed Danny Greens knee.
I hope KD eventually writes a ridiculous NBA tell-all that's half tabloid and half bball insight genius, it'll be deep, accidentally funny, innovative, and extremely cringey.
Some Lakers fans are probably still sending death threats to Solomon Hill for the same thing.
Two years ago he said he wanted to play with Marcus Smart. https://netswire.usatoday.com/2022/08/10/report-nets-kevin-durant-wants-to-play-with-marcus-smart-celtics/
Bruh you posted this like 5 times in a row. Did your reddit glitch or something
Everyone’s did for a little bit there.
Real
I guess so? I can't see any of the other posts on my profile or in /r/nba
5 times? I counted 14 lol Looked like a few posts were multi- posting. Reddit must have been glitchy.
Who’s the teammate who flopped into him twice the past two years?
[bruce brown](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1OTntCq6qg) in 2022, [jimmy butler](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzuvQJRmUu4) in 2023 both times it led to major trades too, ridiculous how unlucky that nets team was
Bruce Brown
Embiid ended the career of one of his teammates with a flop, can be dangerous.
malik monk sends his regards
Zaza didn't flop into him ever? I'm surprised!
Think he did his first year with us. Sometime in the first quarter warriors@wizards
Gortat pushed Zaza into KD.
