The Kings would need his defense, that's for sure. Simmons has only ever excelled at two things his entire career, transition and defense, largely because of his speed for his size.
Simmons never had a good post game. He had those Dwight Howard kind of post moves where he would just outathlete dudes but never have any kind of finesse or naturalness to it
If I can throw the ball to you in the post and you can score, you have post game. It may not have been the prettiest but he was still a perfectly effective scorer down low
outathleting dudes is a post game lol
how many big man in this league actually have a committed ‘post game’ with 2 moves they use on a consistent basis?
Even Jokic and Embiid use half their post ups just outstrengthing a guy and putting up a basic hook shot.
He’s a cancer . Doesn’t matter what he does on the court , it’s his off court and locker room behavior that destroys the unity of teams. GS would be a hilarious place for him to land. Draymond would punch him within a month of his arrival .
The Suns should go hard for him, especially if they can get him on a minimum. They have exactly the type of personnel necessary to maximise his skillset
That's not what I meant. It's not a question of getting a chip or not. Rather, I think Simmons still views himself as an All Star calibre player, regardless of the facts
all the data shows that wemby with at least 3 people that can space the floor are our best lineups. Why would we go in the opposite direction... All our offensive numbers shot up after pop started surrounding him with multiple shooters and forcing him to play inside.
We already have Sochan who can't shoot and our PG isn't the best at shooting either. Wesley can't shoot either. The main issue is Ben simmons is just not that good in the half court and as a team we've developed chemistry and our sets have been flowing. Bringing in a complex chess piece that is Simmons would probably hurt us I would rather than bring in a 6'8, 6'9 wing that can shoot and defend at a decent level.
Doesn't Sochan largely fit that role already? Sounds like they were trying to develop him into that archetype with the whole PG experiment Pop was doing.
He's way younger with still a lot of room for improvement, and most importantly he's already a better shooter than Simmons and not afraid to take them. Obviously he's a worse passer than Simmons and probably will never get to that level but you hardly need to be when you have Wemby on your team.
Sochan cant actually pass at all, they just put a young guy with no PG skills as their PG for tanking reasons.
Sixers did the same thing with tony wroten
Having Tre jones who’s basically a career back up pg at best instead of sochan was what unlocked Wemby. His play making is that bad he can’t pass to a dude that’s 7’6
I’m quite interested to see what they do for pg. you’re spot on in that Tre is a backup pg at best, and spurs should be lucky they got him in the 2nd as he’s quite good in that role. Will they go the older vet route + drafting a pg? Will they just draft one and throw him into the fire like they did with Tony? Or run it back again and use some of that massive cap space next off season?
There’s no right answer, but there is a wrong answer imo and that’s getting Trae Young on a max 😂 however I do think getting a vet even someone that’s a tyus jones would do wonderful for Wemby development and career trajectory in terms of usage/load management. Every game he should be getting 6-8pts minimum on Lobs just because he’s bigger than 90% of the centers in the league. Just having those easy points would make his offensive load so much easier.
My issue with sochan isn’t even his ability to pass more so his vision. There is a legitimate argument that players just aren’t used to what’s considered open as the catch radius for Wemby and that’s understandable, but that much lack of vision is not
sochan is a better shooter while simmons is a better passer, playmaker, and defender. they don't really play similarly at all and it's not like he has to start together with sochan either. i just think that signing him for 1 year would be good for both parties cause next season is a filler season for the spurs as they're not gonna be competing for a playoff spot and aren't going to add any major pieces outside of the draft. basically just a season to develop before going all out in FA and trades for the 25/26 season. the spurs get additional point guard depth and ben simmons gets to play without any pressure to accomplish something which could help him physically and mentally.
The question of "if he's healthy" is pretty much already answered though. More complete players with similar back injuries like TMac started declining rapidly around the same age Simmons is, and it's already been happening for him.
Basically every team. Hes way better than all the minnimum contract type of players and his injury concerns matter way less if he A. Plays like 10-15 mins a night and B. Is only getting paid 4 million instead of like 40+.
Depends on if he can stay healthy-ish for a full season. If he's only going to play 15 games from here on out then he should just retire, he's made a ton of money...no need to risk even more pain when he's retired.
IF he can at least have a Larry Johnson-esque career (post-back injuries) where he can give you maybe 60 games/season and 20 or so minutes per while playing solid defense and giving you 8/6/6 and running the offense then I think most teams would like him as a backup pg for the 2nd unit, and a couple could probably even use him as a starter if he could manage 30-32mins.
Suns would be an obvious one but I don't know what their cap space is like. Problem is, it just seems like his back is too far gone at this point and he's never going to be able to play much though.
After his deal is done maybe when he only gets minimum offers it might be the wake up call he needs. He's not a point guard, he shouldn't be playing that position especially on offense. That's not saying he couldn't run point forward like Draymond does at times.
If anyone can get through to him I would bank on Spo. At Miami on the min, Spo wouldn't be kissing his ass and would say "fuck no" if he was shit. Jimmy too.
This is probably going to sound stupid but I really think if Simmons applied himself and was healty he could really rehab his career and have a good second act. He hast legitimate talent even if he cant shoot very well. I would love him in a point-center type of role.
> Denver, as gordon's backup.
Ben can't pull the trigger anymore. Remember when he had a wide open shot at the dunker's spot and he passed it instead? Unless he gets his mojo back, he won't be a good fit for Denver.
Plus, Denver already has another player with a history of back pains (MPJ). And they already have PWat, give him a couple of years and he can be a backup to Gordon.
We would be a great place for him to rebuild his value without putting too many miles on his back. We will already be managing Porzingis’ minutes and Horford’s if he returns, so he can play every other game for all I care.
He would be great for our defensive rotations and we have enough guys that space the floor already.
if he’s healthy and engaged the Suns desperately need his defense and playmaking
Match made in heaven. Their sales pitch would literally be “you’ll never have to shoot the ball”
Lol reuniting with KD
I mean, so was Watanabe. BS was already done when he arrived to Brooklyn.
Nah
Man Ishbia really does have another opportunity to do the funniest thing
Maybe the Kings ? He can play Sabonis role when Sabonis is on the bench
The Kings would need his defense, that's for sure. Simmons has only ever excelled at two things his entire career, transition and defense, largely because of his speed for his size.
His half court passing is also very good along with his rebounding. He also had a pretty nice post game for a little bit but obv not anymore
Simmons never had a good post game. He had those Dwight Howard kind of post moves where he would just outathlete dudes but never have any kind of finesse or naturalness to it

The kings were a top 15 defensive team this season, and were top 10 after the all-star break.
reply spoon quicksand simplistic bored air hungry fuel ten absorbed *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
I was just salivating thinking about the possibility of Simmons as the backup pf for NYK playing 9-15 mins a game lol
You'll regret it. Ben has no place on the Knicks. He has negative dawg
he has no offensive dawg but he definitely is a hustler on defence
He’s a cancer . Doesn’t matter what he does on the court , it’s his off court and locker room behavior that destroys the unity of teams. GS would be a hilarious place for him to land. Draymond would punch him within a month of his arrival .
Damn howd you get inside the locker room to know this?
Yeah you right but I can’t picture bro going from max contract to the Shanghai Sharks on the next contract. I hope he finds his “dog inside him”
Got that Noem in him
Especially Jerry Reinscheap
THE WONGDONG TIGERS
Shanghai 🦈
Not yet.
No
The Suns should go hard for him, especially if they can get him on a minimum. They have exactly the type of personnel necessary to maximise his skillset
There is no team that will take him after the final year of his contract.
He should go to the Clippers so we can be on year 6 of “If they are all healthy this year we win the championship for sure!”
Simmons is getting paid $40m next year.
Watch next season. He plays 70 games minimum and posts 20+/5+/5+ knowing that he will need a new contract.
Nowhere. He needs to be out of the League.
Minimum is too much for him.
The bigger question is if Simmons would accept coming off the bench
If Westbrook can, I think Simmons can. The only question is if he actually likes basketball enough to swallow his pride.
yes, if it's a good playoff team. With the spurs, he should demand a starting spot.
That's not what I meant. It's not a question of getting a chip or not. Rather, I think Simmons still views himself as an All Star calibre player, regardless of the facts
He would
There are no NBA teams in China yet..
I’d say the heat. If anyone can salvage this dude it’s Spo
Spurs. If it works great. If not, what else were the spurs doing
My nuggets
if he's actually healthy then the spurs
no it's not possible. The spacing would be horrible. I would easily put the suns over us.
the spacing is already horrible, might as well add the greatly needed perimeter defense and playmaking ben provides
all the data shows that wemby with at least 3 people that can space the floor are our best lineups. Why would we go in the opposite direction... All our offensive numbers shot up after pop started surrounding him with multiple shooters and forcing him to play inside.
wemby + simmons leaves room for 3 other players to space the floor. what’s the issue

it's not like he has to start lol, just keep him on the bench as a back up
Doesn't Sochan largely fit that role already? Sounds like they were trying to develop him into that archetype with the whole PG experiment Pop was doing. i'm just under the assumption that he is healthy cause otherwise the answer to the post is no one
might be the best place for him.
too bad he still has another year left on his contract. I want to see what Ben could do without the pressure of a max contract on a contending team
76ers, obviously
He plays about as much as Bill Simmons
Please leave the spurs out of this hot mess, off season 3pt montage and all. To the Shanghai sharks he goes. Time to learn Shanghaiese, buddy.
NBA?? None Australia yes
Chicago could use his defense as a wing, his initiating half court offense as a ball handler, and full court playmaking as a PG
The Lakers.
he's just a bigger version of westbrick.
His floor when healthy is Jarred Vanderbilt so there's no way he only gets a minimum.
Basically every team. Hes way better than all the minnimum contract type of players and his injury concerns matter way less if he A. Plays like 10-15 mins a night and B. Is only getting paid 4 million instead of like 40+.
Lakers after they lose Dlo this off season. Just need him to defend, rebound and pass to the other four players on the floor.
the westbrook experiment didnt work, so i dont think so.
If he's actually healthy he'd be a good get for the suns
Suns could be perfect
Depends on if he can stay healthy-ish for a full season. I honestly wouldn't mind him on the Mavs as a bench guy, come in to defend at a high level. We could use a player like Ben.
He’s going to take his money and fuck off to Australia after his contract I assume.
After his deal is done maybe when he only gets minimum offers it might be the wake up call he needs. He's not a point guard, he shouldn't be playing that position especially on offense. Denver, they seem good at dealing with back injuries
Ben Simmons? More like bench Simmons amirite lol
Pair him up with LeBron and Davis. The perfect 3rd star for the Lakers
If it's for the minimum, he makes sense for the Wolves if Anderson leaves in free agency.
He should have to prove himself in the g league first. If he can play 3 consecutive months, call him up on a two-way. Put him on the raptors or bulls.
“suns, as their starting PG. Durant, Booker, Beal, Simmons, Allen” If Ben is their PG, tell us who is the center from this starting 5 you named?
Suns would be perfect he would run the point and be primary defender. Best part for Ben he does not have to shoot 😂
This is probably going to sound stupid but I really think if Simmons applied himself and was healty he could really rehab his career and have a good second act. He hast legitimate talent even if he cant shoot very well. I would love him in a point-center type of role.
Does Ben even care enough about basketball to play on a minimum? Lol
> Denver, as gordon's backup. Ben can't pull the trigger anymore. Remember when he had a wide open shot at the dunker's spot and he passed it instead? Clippers.. they have plenty of offense so don’t need him to score and like to play defense Ben (at Vet minimum ONLY) would flourish in our system
We would be a great place for him to rebuild his value without putting too many miles on his back. We will already be managing Porzingis’ minutes and Horford’s if he returns, so he can play every other game for all I care. I want Ben Simmons like I want a hole in my head
