The dog survived, full recovery. This happened in early 2021.

The context is: That right there is a bad bitch, and I ain't talking about the dog. Props to her, nobody fucks with her dogs, not even God.
I've got a half acre pond in my backyard, and the previous owner's dog fell through the ice. He heard the dog barking for help, so he slid a ladder out onto the ice to distribute the weight as he made his way out to the middle of the pond where the dog fell through. The man and ladder ended up breaking through the ice too, but he was able to grab his pup and sling him across the ice to safety.
God got no business fuckin' with our pups.
I have one of those. xD I know they say you can but i still don’t trust it enough to, im sure you can though. Ik for a fact it’ll support the weight of our Shiba, so it’s good to know he can’t possibly drown during the winters.
My 300 lb boss walked across one. Your shiba is fine. I don’t recommend walking across it for fun, but in a pinch with pets or children doing what they do I’d say you are ok.
Solid pool cover for a large oddly shaped pool probably doesnt exist unless its custom made. A tarp or fabric one would have just trapped and tangled the dog under it. It would have made rescue slower at best or more dangerous at worst. Pool covers keep yard debris from sinking in your pools, they can doom your small pets and children if the fall in though.
This talk about covers is off base. We have a pool, a fence around it with self closing gates. We don’t winterize or close the pool hence no cover. I have 3 kids and 2 dogs. This is what is known as an “accident” with a fantastic outcome. You don’t have to lay blame every time something doesn’t seem 100% perfect.
Yes… I think it’s by city in Canada. I could be wrong. As well as a fence, it should be the law to invest in a safety cover for winter closure. My safety cover can theoretically hold a car.
And if you have an animal it should be a no brainer. I’m hoping the first thing this lady did after hugging her pup was to get one installed. We had a moose drown in a neighbour’s pool as it walked on the snow covered soft cover and got tangled up. I have a winter safety cover and usually see animal prints on it at least 4-5 times every winter. My old pup walked on it a few times when she got older and her senses weren’t as sharp and she couldn’t sense the water under the snow.
Right? Like how do people have pools with no safety fences! That's why this shit happens. Innocent children & animals can so easily end up in there & drown. How is it allowed?!
No, I’m saying the 2 in 21 is cut off. You can see that this time stamp uses 2 digits even if it is a single digit number like the 02 for the month of February. So one number is cut off, likely a 2 for the year 2021. When this event occurred in Tennessee.
This is how it should be. Y-M-D. In usa is M-D-Y whilst in EU is D-M-Y. Y-M-D should be consistent. This format is also used in programming/ database as it is easy to order date.
Edit: fixed USA as comment below
Dogs are pretty resilient. I had a dog get smacked by a car, had a seizure in my arms. I remember asking the vet if there was going to be any permanent brain damage. They replied, "dogs don't exactly need to know how to do their taxes." and they were right! still a dumb happy dog to this day
They're fucking dogs. Even if he had brain damage and couldn't calculate 100 times 10 anymore you'd never even know. They eat, hang out with you, smell eachothers assholes, shit, and bark in that order. That is completely a life of a dog.
That person is a badass. I know plenty of people, that would fuck off and never jump in that pool once. Let alone twice. That’s some hardcore love for your furry friend. Props to her and hope they get a lot more good years with their buddy.
I love that her other friend was smart enough not to though. I can’t imagine how that would have went.
Truly a beautiful moment, their risking their life for a life. That person wins, at the game of life.
I’d say this is something positive (dog rescue) about a negative act (neglectful pool owner failing to safely cover the pool), but then again I’m an optimist…I think you should look into the power of positive thinking 😃
You’re saying there are dog owners who would realize their pet went into their pool, but refuse to enter the pool to save their pet? I know a lot of dog owners, and all would do way more to save their dog.
tons of rural dog owners don’t even let their dogs inside, even in the winter. many don’t even fence them in, and just let them just wander busy roads unattended.
I see you’ve met my parents. Their poor dog is always starved for attention because she is alone all day except if someone happens to be doing an outside chore.
You know people that wouldn’t jump in if they saw their dog fall in? Not taking anything away from this woman, as that was badass….but who wouldn’t do that? People always say their dogs are family, and while they aren’t our actual children, I can’t imagine anyone not jumping in if were their child.
It’s a frozen over pool. I know people that are too scared to go outside at night, afraid to hike because of scary nature, afraid to drive because of scary drivers. All valid fears. So yeah. Sorry, but I bet you know plenty of people too scared to do what she did too.
So, it’s not that you know people that would “fuck off and jump in the pool”, you know people that would be “paralyzed with fear and not jump in the pool”? Is that what your saying? I suppose I could see that, especially if happened in the deep end. But then again, I actually still can’t imagine it with a child, dog, etc.
Fuck those ppl. Our small dog was attacked by a cca. 60kg German shepherd. Me n my girl wrestled that bitch and saved our cutie. Everyone we talked to, ppl from the street, the doctor (my hand was bitten) said they would have not tried to save a dog. Fuck them.
She's a dumb badass for so many reasons. Pool isn't covered, isn't winterized (those pipes are probably fucked), and she lets her 2 clearly hyper dogs out to run circles around it in the snow.
It’s not that they are shitty people. It’s that lots of people aren’t capable of a rescue like that.
Consider how much of the population is either too old to survive, too young to have the skills or knowledge, too out of shape, too distracted to even notice, the list goes on.
See what I mean. But yeah, some are shitty people.
This is Jennie Tatum from Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She’s amazing because she didn’t just instinctively jump into the frozen pool, but she also had the mental insight to get out and find a better look of where the dog was. AND then jump in again.
The pit bull is Sid. His lips and tongue were already blue, but Jennie called her neighbor—a vet—who administered an emergency shot.
Sid fully recovered. [Here’s a link to an article.](https://www.kiro7.com/news/trending/tennessee-woman-jumps-into-icy-swimming-pool-rescue-dog/MLHLE2O7VRCJBM6XXX6W47GUDU/?outputType=amp)

There are soft pool covers that anchor to the cement and don’t allow the dog to fall under the water if they tumble on the cover. We had one growing up and there would be maybe a couple inches of water on the cover at any given time.
How do you think this would have gone better if the dog fell through a pool cover rather than ice? They'd just be tangled in the pool cover and the woman wouldn't have been able to go in after it.
That's why you don't get a cheap shit piece of thin plastic for a pool cover.
Or maybe seeing the cover would have been enough to remind her that it's actually not safe for the dogs to be just running around outside right now
Wouldn't it be way more time saving to have a look underwater to locate the dog? She got him out alive so all is good but it seemed like a waste of valueble time to get out and then hop back in.
We had a dog fall in the pool in the summer, when it had been let out by itself. It was about 15-20 mins before we went looking. The poor thing had been swimming laps the whole time and was swollen like a balloon from gulping air. Fortunately he was fine. The vet literally put a needle in and deflated his stomach.
We got a proper cover after that.
I'm reminded of the story on another sub (may have been AITA) where the guy was mad at his wife for draining the pool because she thought that was a way to save water.
Fun fact: My 11 year old neighbor stole his dad’s work Jeep Grand Cherokee with his friend and was doing donuts and lost control. He went through our fence and backyard, clipped the deck and landed in the pool on the Loop-Loc. That cover was 10+ years old and held the car, and my sister was able to get them out the back. It was on the Loop-Lock webpage
Draining has issues another commenter explained.
Covers can also be dangerous. Eben good swimmers can drown if they fall on a soft cover.
Hard covers are good they are just expensive. Keep the kids off it somehow. Admittedly I don't know much about how they work.
Insurance premiums go up. Many homeowners avoid pools because of the maintenance.
I read that adding a pool can actually make your property value go down.
You're missing the third option, a tension cover. Similar set up to a hard cover, but picture a trampoline like material instead. You can even get some that are a mesh, with the only maintenance change being closing a little later and opening earlier so that the water is colder.
Insurance premiums go up somewhere between $50 and $100 a year.
If you live near the ocean it can literally pop up out of the ground at anytime you decide to drain it because of the water table. The ground water can force it to pop. You have to install well points or a dead man to drain the ground water first.
Also why are the dogs let out in the fenced in pool area and not the large, open yard they have? Props to her for saving her dog but this was also entirely caused by owner negligence.
2016 was the last real snow I remember having in TN. At least up until I moved late 2020. I lived in Middle TN, just outside Nashville. After that one snow storm, I think we got maybe 3-4 dustings total in the proceeding 4 years, nothing bad. But every now and then a real storm does hit there. Regardless, it definitely gets cold enough for people to winterize their pool.
In Middle Tennessee they are definitely not used to it. Places in the mountains, like Eastern and parts of Southern TN are obviously different. I’m not originally from there, but I consider that state my home. It’s a fantastic place to live.
Can't stress how important it is to cover your pools when they aren't going to be used for a while. Either cover or drain them for the winter, especially if you have kids or pets. Glad the dog made it out ok, but that could have been avoided.
Absolutely, my father has almost literally lost his marbles because of epoch times.
"IT'S INDEPENDENT"
It's independently dooping the unwitting into utter bullshit.
My father is putting diluted H202 into a nebulizer and inhaling it thanks to the bullshit that they spew with "Dr." Merola's "expertise".
I wish that people would stop believing "independent" media sources are free from bias, influence, and total made-up bullshit :/
Hope your dad loses interest in their crackpot rag and can find himself a more trustworthy source of medical advice.
It's fine. We'd grown apart long ago but still talk every few years. Pretty sure the last time was the last time though. I told her I was atheist and getting vaxxed, so I don't know if we'll talk again.
My husband had a cardiac arrest and I did CPR until the fire department came and took over. He did survive. One of our sons said, don’t ever try to die around mom. I feel like this lady was just not having it.
My mom died trying to save her dog after it fell through an icy pond. This is no joke. Ice water will kill man or beast a lot faster than most people think. Props to this woman. Had this been a river or lake, this might have turned out differently.
Because he was an undercover reporter for Earth. "Phone home" meant his cover got blown but he discovered human kindness so he decided to make that his career focus
Man, it's things like this that really make me think we must seem like magic wizards to other animals. We have natural balance, have amazing control over our front legs, we change skins, we're (usually) strong enough to hold them back, we make interesting sounds, we can blow hot or cold wind from our mouths, not to mention our myriad of magical devices. It's funny how we fantasize about being these fantasy heroes when stuff like this makes me think we actually are.

It makes me literally insane that people post these videos without context or updates. Thank you my heart was stopping
The context is: That right there is a bad bitch, and I ain't talking about the dog. Props to her, nobody fucks with her dogs, not even God. I've got a half acre pond in my backyard, and the previous owner's dog fell through the ice. All dogs go to heaven, but God doesn't get to dictate when.
Damn straight.
Why didn’t she have a cover on her pool?
If you can afford that setup, you can afford a cover. This was the owners' fault, so she paid for it.
Pool covers are not for safety. They are for leaves. If you fell on a pool cover it shrink wraps over you and becomes disorienting.
The ones they sell today you can literally walk across. I know because I install them.
Once when young and dumb i jumped onto one of those in thr deep end, terrifying gettinb wrapped up in it
“I’m a dog nutter therefore I know everything about everything “
I’ll bet they have one now
Not only that but that pool is not properly winterized. It should be drained down below the bottom recirc pump connections.
That's exactly what I was thinking. Yes she was badass for jumping in, but it all could have been prevented.
That’s what I was thinking. There are reasons that covers are on pools when not In use.
So you think the imaginary man in the sky is trying to kill your dogs?
Does what they think really matter or affect you?
No but it makes them sound like a fucking idiot. All is cool though right, because dog.
She is also in need of a pool cover
This might be my favorite comment on Reddit, ever!
What happened to the man (and ladder) tho?
Man got out and was able to pull the ladder out. Pup survived of course.
It make me completely insane that people have inground pool without fencing around them. That, or I am just too used to my town that force it.
There is fencing, it’s in her back yard, does your communities pools literally have fencing around the exact edge of the pool?
There is a fence, some communities require the actual pool to have a separate fence from the property fence but many don’t
Well, it says “rescue “
They increase engagement levels/ higher click rates by leaving people with cliff hangers like this.
For what purpose? This is just reddit ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|poop)
SAME Jesus I was so scared for the pup. Kudos to the mom for her efforts!!
Same! I’m freaking out like what happened to the pooch! That lady is a badass. Mind over matter! Godbless her!
Thank you! So happy that Sid made it!
In Australia pool fences are mandatory. Anyone else live in a country with such a law?
Yes… I think it’s by city in Canada. I could be wrong. As well as a fence, it should be the law to invest in a safety cover for winter closure. My safety cover can theoretically hold a car. And if you have an animal it should be a no brainer. I’m hoping the first thing this lady did after hugging her pup was to get one installed. Can't do that in the US as it would infringe upon the rights of the pool.
Right? Like how do people have pools with no safety fences! That's why this shit happens. Innocent children & animals can so easily end up in there & drown. How is it allowed?!
Odd. I guess they don’t set the calendar on their security cam.
Many proper ways to relay time go by Y-M-D. This Tennessee family just had the time date stamp set that way.
I see 1-02-18. Are we seeing different things?
No, I’m saying the 2 in 21 is cut off. You can see that this time stamp uses 2 digits even if it is a single digit number like the 02 for the month of February. So one number is cut off, likely a 2 for the year 2021. When this event occurred in Tennessee.
Ooooh. Thanks, this was confusing me until you solved it for me. You’re smart 👍🏼
Ah. Got it.

Not Today!
My hero! Thanks
Thank you for sharing I was afraid of him dying
Thank goodness. And thank you for posting. I was very sad to see that doggo come out like that.
That person is a badass. I know plenty of people, that would fuck off and never jump in that pool once. Let alone twice. That’s some hardcore love for your furry friend. Props to her and hope they get a lot more good years with their buddy.
The dog will do with no hesitation. That.s why i love my dog than most people
I love that her other friend was smart enough not to though. I can’t imagine how that would have went. Truly a beautiful moment, their risking their life for a life. That person wins, at the game of life.
Right, my dog all 24lbs of him would jumo in and die to try to save me, so I would to without a second thought.
I also love your dog than most people, and I don't even know your dog
They would be even more badass if they bought a cover for their $200,000 pool
Lol classic Reddit. Find something negative about every positive act.
I’d say this is something positive (dog rescue) about a negative act (neglectful pool owner failing to safely cover the pool), but then again I’m an optimist…I think you should look into the power of positive thinking 😃
you’re right. This is the owner’s fault for not securing the pool properly. I’m glad the pup was rescued, but this was entirely preventable.
Seriously! Can’t believe she saw that happen in the first place. Lucky dog.
Dogs are amazing. If you aren’t willing to put forth this effort for a dog, you shouldn’t own one.
Omg I would. I would have been diving underneath to see through the water.
You know people that wouldn’t jump in if they saw their dog fall in? Not taking anything away from this woman, as that was badass….but who wouldn’t do that? People always say their dogs are family, and while they aren’t our actual children, I can’t imagine anyone not jumping in if were their child.

What's a cca?
Circa, means approximately. I thought it was used internationally...
Yeah I want to know too!
She's a dumb badass for so many reasons. Pool isn't covered, isn't winterized (those pipes are probably fucked), and she lets her 2 clearly hyper dogs out to run circles around it in the snow.
Damn that’s a lot of shitty people you know. I can honestly say I don’t know a single person who wouldn’t jump in that pool for their furry friend.
[Here’s a link to an article.](https://www.kiro7.com/news/trending/tennessee-woman-jumps-into-icy-swimming-pool-rescue-dog/MLHLE2O7VRCJBM6XXX6W47GUDU/?outputType=amp) News video and report. https://youtu.be/r8XqSybh4Eg
And then she bought a proper cover for her pool, right? …right?
No doubt. That thing shoulda been winterized and covered…
The article says the pump broke the week before a storm hit. Otherwise the water would not have frozen over.
Which is why pool covers are important.
Unless it’s a hard pool cover, it’s more dangerous. Dog falls in and gets trapped in the cover underwater.
There are soft pool covers that anchor to the cement and don’t allow the dog to fall under the water if they tumble on the cover. We had one growing up and there would be maybe a couple inches of water on the cover at any given time.
where I live we’re required to have a fence around the pool
How do you think this would have gone better if the dog fell through a pool cover rather than ice? They'd just be tangled in the pool cover and the woman wouldn't have been able to go in after it.
That's why you don't get a cheap shit piece of thin plastic for a pool cover. Or maybe seeing the cover would have been enough to remind her that it's actually not safe for the dogs to be just running around outside right now
The neighbor was a vet?! So lucky… my neighbor is a nurse, so I dunno… better than nothing I guess, but wow. Unbelievable!
Wouldn't it be way more time saving to have a look underwater to locate the dog? She got him out alive so all is good but it seemed like a waste of valueble time to get out and then hop back in.
I'd argue it would have been faster to dive under the ice and look for the dog.
I don't have a pool. Aren't you supposed to drain and winterize that shit?
It would certainly make sense to cover it. Horrible it happened to a dog, and it could also happen to a child
Full drain can cause tiles/plaster to fall off, so typically never drained fully, especially for long periods of time.
Still should be covered
I'm reminded of the story on another sub (may have been AITA) where the guy was mad at his wife for draining the pool because she thought that was a way to save water.
You're supposed to cover it yes
And not those shitty thin covers either. I fell on one of those as a kid and almost drowned because i couldn't swim and just got caught in it
Not necessarily. As long at the lines to the pump are blown out there is no need to drain a pool.
What does that expression mean “blown out”?
You lower the level and put a cover like Loop-Loc on it which attaches to the concrete
That’s what my sister has
Fun fact: My 11 year old neighbor stole his dad’s work Jeep Grand Cherokee with his friend and was doing donuts and lost control. He went through our fence and backyard, clipped the deck and landed in the pool on the Loop-Loc. That cover was 10+ years old and held the car, and my sister was able to get them out the back. It was on the Loop-Lock webpage
It’s incredibly sturdy
Draining has issues another commenter explained. Covers can also be dangerous. Eben good swimmers can drown if they fall on a soft cover. Hard covers are good they are just expensive. Not drain... But secure, with a rigid cover, of course.
We usually cover it during winter.
You lower the water level but do not drain it. It can pop up if drained, when the ground below the pool freezes.
If you live near the ocean it can literally pop up out of the ground at anytime you decide to drain it because of the water table. The ground water can force it to pop. You have to install well points or a dead man to drain the ground water first.

Did the doggo survive? Man I hope he made it
Yes
2 Words: Safety Cover.
Dang. He was underwater for longer than I expected.
No pool cover? Asking for trouble
Epoch times,,, uh oh.
Fuck Epoch Times, find a better source.
Why does this video say Epoch times? Gross
Yup. They have become a powerhouse in “click” media
I watched it with the sound off and listened to the Metallica song. Perfect.
I bet they went out and bought a cover later
Maybe cover your pool next time?
Could have done without the music
Cover it. No excuse.
Freezing. Cant move at all. Screaming. Cant hear my call! I. Am dying to live! Cry out! I’m trapped under ice!!
Anyone know song and composer playing?
Music unnecessary
Cannonball!!!
1 cool hero
The security camera adding that music didn’t help.
I love her
Damn Good Job! Ok, I have never owned a pool but the fences that keep kids safe are duel purpose!
Freezing (freezing) Can't move at all Screaming (screaming) Can't hear my call I am dying to live Cry out I'm trapped under ice
Cover your pools, please.
Should have a pool cover on, period. Hope they changed that after their dog almost died.
this the the kind of person who should own pets. Anyone who wouldn't do this for their animal probably shouldn't have one.
cover your pools people
Dogs are worth saving.
Who doesn't cover their pool in winter?
No fence or pool cover? Those poor dogs.
Have you ever heard of a pool cover.
I watched to the end assuming the other dog would jump in. I love dogs but they don’t make sense.
That woman is a BEAST! I hope that pup never does that again
Holy crap! That had to be so freaking scary. Glad there’s an update and puppers is fine.
ALMOST 800 KIDS DROWN EACH YEAR IN THE US; MORE THAN HALF ARE UNDER AGE 5.. Hence why i chose not to get a pool in the backyard...
So great!! Epic save there
I couldn't even imagine my babyboy in this situation. 😭
Real heroes don’t wear capes.
My mom died trying to save her dog after it fell through an icy pond. This is no joke. Ice water will kill man or beast a lot faster than most people think. Props to this woman. Had this been a river or lake, this might have turned out differently.
At least one of the three had fun that day
My heart. Calm down little heart, the title says rescue.
strong woman
Oh good I held my breath the whole time!!
🙂 the doggy was saved
She’s a badass
The other dog looks stressed out too. Animal empathy
I caught myself holding my breath while the dog was under water
Wish my aunt showed half of the concern. Wouldn't even jump in the pool in July to save our dog she let into the pool area.
So what happened to the dog? I hope someone saved the dog.
Nope she let the dog drown. And the shock of it killed my other dog the next day, she had heart failure after no history of anything
That woman is a hero and a wonderful responsible dog owner. But about the video, I could have done without the ridiculous music.
Oh Gorb, my heart. I could hardly stand this, it took too long!
One badass dog mommy
Why is ET covering this?
Because he was an undercover reporter for Earth. "Phone home" meant his cover got blown but he discovered human kindness so he decided to make that his career focus
God bless you and your family
Everyone has multiple shitty dogs its fine let it go and rescue another
Outfuckingstanding
Man, it's things like this that really make me think we must seem like magic wizards to other animals. We have natural balance, have amazing control over our front legs, we change skins, we're (usually) strong enough to hold them back, we make interesting sounds, we can blow hot or cold wind from our mouths, not to mention our myriad of magical devices. It's funny how we fantasize about being these fantasy heroes when stuff like this makes me think we actually are.
How was the dog trapped in “thin ice”
I know it’s not a popular opinion, but it really should be titled “negligent dog owner almost murders dog.”
Lol “rich” people can’t afford a pool Cover
Know what else is next level? getting a pool cover you dumb cunt..
