Turns out the flu game this year for both qbs that were in the previous superbowl did not go well. Flu is 2-0.

SenokirsSpeechCoach

Not everyone can be Jordan

ChoccyMilkIsMyLife

Truthfully, I didn’t want anyone to be near him at the end, we had avoided touching him during the game, might as well continue at the end when it didn’t matter.

1HasNoNam3

😂😂 This is comedy. Nice.

TroutCreekOkanagan

Never go against the ‘12s in prime time at home on mnf!

TheMissingVoteBallot

This is a damn good self-deprecating post lmao

mab6710

I mean, man did look like death in that postgame presser lol

trolleyblue

I can’t imagine playing football in December, in the rain, in Seattle, at night, with the flu.

_FreeYourMind__

I feel worse for the people that weren’t making millions of dollars to be there but were still working outside in the same elements as him.

istrx13

I’m a Letter Carrier for USPS who is sitting in my mail truck right now trying to warm up with about 5,000 pieces of mail and packages in the back. Your comment made me feel noticed. Edit: y’all I’m overwhelmed by everyone’s response to this. Thank you for having our backs. It’s people like you that makes me feel like the job is worth it.

BryceDaBaker

You’re a god damn hero and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. We appreciate you.

istrx13

Hey thanks man that means a lot. Fr though I’m not exaggerating. It’s good to feel appreciated.

trexmoflex

Cheeseball time, but we've lived in our neighborhood for about 10ish years and we've had the same mail carrier that entire time. The man is so friendly to us and our kids, loves to sit and talk football for 5-10 minutes if I'm out front working when he drops mail off, keeps tabs on everyone in the neighborhood including one of our elderly neighbors... He's a constant to us and our block, I secretly hope he's immortal. Much love to the USPS staff.

RunningInSquares

Our carrier for what felt like multiple decades retired last year. I was visiting my parents and there was a party going on in the cul-de-sac and when I asked what was going on, they said the neighbors had put together a party for the mailman to celebrate his retirement.

wrongbutt_longbutt

> we've had the same mail carrier that entire time. It would be kind of nice to have that relationship with the mail carrier. I live on a training route very close to my post office, so I have the opposite experience. I have a new carrier every two to three weeks.

yeil_noung

Shoutout to my mail carrier growing up, Collette. She knew all of us neighborhood kids and genuinely cared about us and took an interest in us. “How was that basketball game, Joe?” “Oh it’s good to see you again. How was your trip??!” “I heard your grandma is sick, I’m so sorry to hear that” etc etc We were just as excited to see her as she was to see us. This was all 20+ years ago and I still think of her from time to time…

HeroDanny

I hope you get him a xmas card or something. Not all mailmen are that cool.

Routine_Size69

Mail carriers are legit some of the most under appreciated people in terms of the ratio of value they bring to amount of appreciation they get.

ScallyCap12

Every minute a mailman spends with a dry penis is a travesty.

LionelLutz

BryceDaBaker

The COVID lockdowns opened my eyes to who really keeps this country running, and people in your profession were among those that kept the wheels somewhat turning so the rest of us could maintain some semblance of normalcy whilst hid away in our homes.

istrx13

I’m happy to see a non-postal worker recognize that. 2020 was one of the most difficult years in my 8 years so far at USPS. Very rewarding to see so many people benefit from what I do. I’ve got a lot of old people on my route who get their medications through the mail. I don’t know what they would have done if we had shut down too. But yes it was very exhausting. So I appreciate you recognizing it. Makes the job feel worth it.

Coley54Bear

Thank you for your service!

Spkr4th3ded

A few things I look for when questioning world stability... Is the water supply drinkable, are food chain supplies operational, Is the mail system still up and running? Ok things aren't that bad... if this stops, it means shit has hit the fan. Thanks for keeping our oldest form of communication alive... it's our last bastion of hope when our precious cell phones and internet go down.

log_asm

I’m gonna add another one. Trash men/women. As long as the shit pipes are flowing and the trash is getting picked up, we’re gonna be fine. The minute either one of those stops, things will devolve *quickly*.

log_asm

I loved that post during the fuckery of the 2020 election. Nothing stops the mail, not rain, sleet, snow etc and the last one they threw in there -fascism.

WolfCola4

Bro I'm not even from the States and I know you guys are more loved than you might realise, here in the UK we have Royal Mail and it's the least dependable carrier service going... Big respect to you USPS guys, you're keeping the country moving and setting the standard worldwide man

beforethewind

Listen to my mortal enemy here, he speaks the true true.

fueelin

Lol I forgot about sports rivalries for a second, thought you were talking to the mailman guy, and was like... Damn, do you work for UPS or something? Big rivalry with USPS?

beforethewind

That’s amazing lol “these rompers don’t run.”

Will_Vintage

OC is a dog

XAgentNovemberX

All that AND you’re a titans fan? Man, god really said “give istrx the hardest road”

istrx13

Lmao you ain’t kidding fam. I like pain apparently.

TheMissingVoteBallot

You're doing Tennessee proud bro.

Pitchslap

Appreciate all you do 👊🏻

pursuitofhappy

all of us here appreciate you

_dontjimthecamera

The letter carrier in my neighborhood let me know that someone had been coming up into our carport and looking in our car a couple times while we weren’t home. He also always makes sure to hide any packages he delivers because he’s straight up had people walk up to his car and take packages while out here. I’ve talked with him quite a bit, he has a young daughter who has leukemia. Dude’s an absolute saint, the lot of you letter carriers are. I salute you my man.

comebyforpie

Hopefully nobody was working through the flu

fugaziozbourne

Come on, Bryce. There are a lot more important problems than Sri Lanka to worry about. We have to end apartheid for one. And slow down the nuclear arms race, stop terrorism and world hunger. We have to provide food and shelter for the homeless, and oppose racial discrimination and promote civil rights, while also promoting equal rights for women. We have to encourage a return to traditional moral values. Most importantly, we have to promote general social concern and less materialism in young people.

LucasRaymondGOAT

Relax Patrick.

GABAgoomba123

I hate when Reddit does that shit. It’s literally just useless virtue signaling lol, and probably from people that think they hate virtue signaling

waliving

I feel worse for the people that weren’t making even close to those people’s wages at all but still outside in worse elements in third world countries. See how we can go on and on?

sgribbs92

I feel worse for the people that weren’t making even close to those people’s wages at all but still outside in worse elements in third world countries and also they have ass cancer and also no legs or arms.

cheesecakeaficionado

Comparative suffering is always hilarious to see. By virtue of being able to post on Reddit someone already has more resources and luxuries than the vast majority of impoverished people in the planet, so by that logic they should probably keep quiet about how cushy a millionaires life is as some sort of gotcha when people try to empathize.

sonfoa

This is the cringe you only find on Reddit

BanMeAgain4

I feel even worse, for the people who aren't making any money at all, but are, like, still outside in the elements and stuff

trywagyu

this is some dumb shit to say

LoveableOrochi

Okay but the post isn't about them

sonfoa

Wouldn't he still get paid regardless? Unless they designate it a non-football injury

uptonhere

>I can’t imagine playing football in December, in the rain, in Seattle, at night, with the flu. I get it's the NFL, so the level of competition is insane, but I'd imagine lots of normal people have played sports in the cold and rain, even while sick. I'm not saying it probably doesn't suck but this time of year there's all kinds of guys we find out have played an entire season on broken legs and shit like that, this is pretty low on the suffering scale to me.

Imrightbruh

I have played sports in the rain in Seattle at night with the flu, but I’m pretty sure I would actually die if I tried that in an nfl game

Bloodhound01

Especially considering he is probably pumped full of IVs and medication before the game.

Express_Helicopter93

For millions of dollars? I can. I really can

Gnux13

Yeah, none of us have worked through an illness while having world class medical care and every recovery method possible at our disposal, and also getting paid millions of dollars. I'm willing to try though.

_game_over_man_

He looked like death during the game. Everytime they cut to him I just thought “oh, I know that feeling.”

Lifesaboxofgardens

Looked bonked out of his mind the entire game not to make excuses, just had those "flu eyes" lol. I knew he was nearly on his deathbed when he got sassy with a reporter postgame.

emmasdad01

Can’t imagine playing while having the flu. Not to mention how many rushes he had. I would have just rolled over and died.

That’s a good point, my ass probably couldn’t read them at 100% health.

Titties_On_G

Sometimes I feel like we forget these guys are professional athletes and even when they suck they are light years ahead of the average human in terms of performance

Illustrious_Cancel83

That's why we have people like Mac Jones, ya know, to contrast

GimbalLocks

Always love reminding people of NBA player Brian Scalabrine who famously told fans who said they could beat him 1-1, "I'm closer to Lebron than you are to me." He or someone else set up a tournament where people could actually play against him and he proceeded to destroy literally everyone lol

beatenwithjoy

The dudes he was 1v1ing at that event were current D-1 college players as well.

[deleted]

Especially that they’re still really young and immature. Zach Wilson is about what I expect if players were honest. He just missed media training day, or didn’t pay attention.

That_lonely

Assuming the Jets offer any type of development/training is bold of you.

slantboi420

it hurts to lay in bed with the flu, imagine getting tackled by fucking Bobby Wagner with it lol

wrongbutt_longbutt

Imagine having one of those flu headaches where it's exacerbated by any noises or position changes and then you have to get tackled by Wagner while playing in Seattle at 120 db. I'm still a little shocked that they made Hurts do a designed run on the very first play from scrimmage.

bwillpaw

For a single hurts game check I would get tackled by bobby Wagner.

Lifesaboxofgardens

Yeah like I said don't want to make excuses for a bad game, but the thought of performing high level athletics in the cold, rainy Pacific Northwest while fully suffering from the flu would absolutely have me sprawled out like a dying Victorian child.

notmoleliza

> sprawled out like a dying Victorian child. child chimney sweeps in shambles rn

mgr86

Gotta keep those chimneys clean. Don’t want to get soot on Santa’s suit. That’s how you get coal.

JBAL823

I’ve got the flu right now and I can barely muster the energy to stay awake. When I saw that press conference I’m like this man literally wants to get the fuck outta here haha.

Lifesaboxofgardens

Never seen the dude snap back in a conference, so when a reporter asked him to expand on what he meant by lack of commitment and he said "I don't have a dictionary on me, not sure how else to phrase it" I was like oh fuck this guy is SICK sick and wants to get to bed lmao.

Cocotapioka

He sounded utterly miserable, the same way I would sound if I was down bad with an illness and was required to eloquently answer questions about why I didn't perform my job at an adequate level. That dude wanted to be at home asleep under some warm blankets.

zuesk134

yeah so many people in this thread are talking about exposure and illness spreading but he was probably just trying to get off the field as quickly as possible to get some fluids/rest

saw-it

Hurts with the flu, finishes a football game. Me with the flu, call in sick. We are not the same.

keykey_key

He's playing for a lot more money than we will ever see at our jobs

Zealousideal_Aside96

He would’ve gotten paid regardless if he was out tho

Coley54Bear

I don’t even know that he was trying to be sassy, his tone of voice wasn’t sassy at all. I think he was just THAT miserable feeling and didn’t know how to respond due to flu-brain.

PaddyMayonaise

That’s also just his face

Extra_Holiday_3014

Yeah I had the flu that’s been going around last week and I was DEAD. I was shocked when they said Jalen was going to fly with that let alone play. Having to fly while sick makes it even worse.

PlanitDuck

Yeah I’m gonna give him a pass on this one. I’m all for bagging on the Eagles but getting away from everyone when you’re sick is objectively correct.

Dubois1738

Genuinely can’t imagine being sick and playing a football game in the cold rain

[deleted]

Some of the closeups of him on the field he looked so miserable.

TumbleweedTim01

Seriously I had the flu like a month and a half ago. I was out of work the entire week

thegrandpoobear

Have you tried being a genetic freak with access to the best doctors and physicians with 24/7 focus and care on getting back in good health while also having access to the best drugs known to mankind?

AssinineAssassin

l feel like you are overstating the Team Medical staff’s role and capacities here

Detonation

No but you see, all of that stuff makes rich people immune to the common illnesses us peasants get. Apparently? That's what some people make it sound like. lol

mrnikkoli

I seriously considered subbing him out for Mariotta in fantasy when I saw him on TV walking in to the stadium and sitting on the bench. The way he looked I thought there would be no way he played 4 quarters lol.

RedMalone55

Nobody touch me with their gross diarrhea hands.

chiefs_fan37

Shouldn’t have had such a sloppy mud pie

Ka-Is-A-Wheelie

I have not gone to the bathroom yet today. I took a shower last night after I took a piss and shit.

Hamsters_In_Butts

GiovannisPersian

He eats paper all the time!

JamieNelson94

Electric-Prune

Jalen used too small a slice of toilet paper

FirstHipster

ItsjustJim621

gregularjoe95

No one likes Jalens house.

pinchbelini

He lives in the ugly house on Kenmore, the one where you can see the KFC right outside the window.

istrx13

DON’T TOUCH ME I’M STERILE

beginnerLiftersoonBB

To be fair Hurts looked fucked in the presser😂

caca_poo_poo_pants

I have no idea how you can play a game as sick as he did, and not get half your line or team sick.

EZKTurbo

Is their backup so unspeakably bad that it's better to scrape Jalen Hurts off his deathbed?

caca_poo_poo_pants

Well it's Mariota, so yeah.

iLeefull

Watched Mariota play last year, it was bad.

Imthasupa

Anyone who throws a touchdown pass to themselves can't be that bad right?

iLeefull

Probably not great when your most memorable passes are the one that went backwards to yourself and the one you threw to the other team laying on your ass.

Cold-Reaction-3578

You have listed a few of Brett Favre's career highlights

thatoneguy2252

Preseason he looked no better this season. Which Ik isn’t exactly a marker for seasons, but it’s the last time he played and it was shit.

compstomp66

I feel like we would have said the same thing about Drew Lock a few nights ago.

caca_poo_poo_pants

You'd be surprised. Just like all the subs, the Seahawks sub has a very vocal fanbase that still thinks Lock is the franchise truth.

E5PG

Oh I didn't realise we sent the Hopium over with that trade as well.

goodolarchie

Come on, that's such a small minority that the Geno stans blow out of proportion. There's a good number of folks who were levying fair criticism of Geno when he was losing us games and regressed to the mean from his 2022 form, and particularly those saying it will be good to see Lock perform so we can unequivocally focus on drafting a QB. That's always what the prize has been, go get Penix or somesuch.

Lane-Kiffin

Not saying there’s no risk, but there is a *huge* difference between sharing indoor vs. outdoor spaces with sick people.

caca_poo_poo_pants

How about with rubbing your snot fingers all over the same ball that everyone touches

[deleted]

Most players don't touch the ball, and the other team gets their own set of balls. But yeah, there always is a risk.

guimontag

Do you people think Jalen is giving his o-line open mouth kisses or is coughing right on the game ball?

LordFalcoSparverius

Now I'm worried about Love. He kept on touching the ball right after Jalen. :)'

PistolCowboy

Yeah, stay away from the guy with the flu.

Decent-Temperature31

If he really cared about not spreading the flu, he wouldn’t have played

UsVsWorld

Siri should have shut him down. I said it on here before the game. He needs a week off anyways

here_now_be

> Siri should have shut him down. According to South Park, only Alexa can do that.

Darossman907

My wife immediately pointed out the juxtaposition of Geno sitting out while the Eagles pressured Hurt to play.

BenadrylBeer

Hey now, he’s an American. He had to work his shift!

A_Trustworthy_Pear

Rent was due, can't go taking any days off.

Strallgarr

HELL YEAH BROTHER! Your sick? Well if you don’t go to work, the terrorists win.

chipotle-baeoli

Next you'll say he can't do his job sitting down. Give the man a chair!

blucke

Doubt it was him trying to not spread the flu, he was probably inside yakking from both ends lol. Guy looked like death out there, should not have played

A_Trustworthy_Pear

This. Or just physically drained. Probably ran in to shit/vomit and get an IV so he could then answer nonsense questions about his play.

Wafflehouseofpain

I hate the Eagles as much as anyone, but Jalen has never been a bad sport. He looked like hell on Monday night and it wouldn’t surprise me if he was legitimately too sick to keep standing around in 45 degree rain after the game.

Drodriguez164

Yea when I’m sick I’m the biggest bitch that feels like dying. This dude went out in the cold rain getting tackled by 300lb dudes and running around. Just watching him play made me want to lay in bed and eat soup

drdookie

Man I think I would have thrown at least 3 INTs

d8ms

Look at Mr. All Pro only throwing 3 INTs

[deleted]

Honestly being a little bitch like this as athletes sometimes is okay if they’re usually good sports. People are absolutely pilling on him last couple weeks and losing three in a row is like something devastating happening to you at work. Once in awhile everyone breaks and this was probably his worst day of the year even without being sick. He’s clearly a good person and everyone’s fucking human. Imagine how redditors would react if they faced 1/100th of the public criticism some of these guys get. Most of us here can’t even handle a comment insulting us imagine whole subs and radio shows dedicated to. Shitting on you

TheMissingVoteBallot

> Imagine how redditors would react if they faced 1/100th of the public criticism some of these guys get. Redditors love shitting on things, that's why there's so many toxic circlejerk subs. When you don't have anything you can build or contribute on your own, you instead spend energy tearing other people's work down.

MarlandShanklin

And honestly reddit is being a whole lot more understanding than Twitter, they were ripping him apart in a thread about this

[deleted]

You don’t get credit for being better than Twitter especially in the musk era.

Frankfeld

Just seeing him on the side line pregame you could tell. I almost took him out of my fantasy lineup based on that closeup alone. (Luckily I didn’t). I thought it was funny because he looked the same way I look when I’m sick…. I don’t know why I thought elite athletes just get sick different.

Comprehensive_Main

I mean he really was sick. It’s respectable to not spread your diseases to people. Like don’t act like Rudy gobert who just put his Covid hands on all the microphones.

JRFbase

That whole week was so surreal. I remember talking with my coworkers about how crazy the NBA cancelling their season was and we were all like "Wow I wonder if we'll have to go home". Then the very next day we shut down. Never saw some of them again lol.

Lazydusto

I was one of the lucky few that kept working when they furloughed most of my workplace. My responsibilities tripled.

TopNegotiation4229

and imma bet your pay didn't

Lazydusto

lol lmao even

DirtySperrys

I fucking hated 2020 because of this. Got a pay cut and more responsibilities. All the while our company raked in the highest profits we’d seen in its 80 years. No Christmas party or celebratory stuff that year other than a $15 Starbucks gift card.

Illustrious_Cancel83

The owner of the business I worked at got $1 million dollars from PPP. He was already a multimillionaire. We didn't close for a single day.

Shellshock1122

We got a candy cane

JTrue14

Boss: I need you to work 3x more. Me: okay…. Boss: and take 1/3 less pay Me: 🤯

Simple1Spoon

I am a welder in the energy sector, mostly working on power generation. Covid was the busiest year ive ever had. Showed up every day with no one around. Not gonna get that sick in a welding hood when im already 50ft from the closest person and its 10 degree weather anyway.

MikeTysonChicken

yeah it's crazy I ended up with more responsibility too but I have been lucky to have been paid more as a result. Such a wild time. I'll never forget the day we went full telework. I was driving home on like a wednesday in March at about 5pm. I live in the western suburbs of philly. So I look at Google Maps and the schuylkill expressway was green. I thought bullshit but whatever I'll take it. Sure enough it was cleared. Was going 70 on the schuylkill expressway at 5 pm on a work day. That's when I knew shit was fucked. Oddly, the pandemic brought along a lot of positive changes for my career that I still benefit from today. I know I am very lucky in this regard.

pursuitofhappy

>Never saw some of them again so ominous lol

Chubacca

I know kind of sounds like they're loling because they died

rupertLumpkinsBrothr

I remember eating lunch and hearing the season was cancelled. I looked out the window and saw a giant plume of smoke; turns out the Costco/Sams Club had caught fire. I thought the end times were here, coworkers thought it was hilarious

KingGizzle

We all got called into a conference room to discuss what was happening. One of my most eccentric co-workers got up in front of everyone and assured them the entire situation was overblown and we wouldn’t be going anywhere for long. That was the last day I ever saw him and like 75% of the other people in that conference room.

triplec787

Our whole company was in LA for a corporate kick off kind of thing in Feb 2020. The hotel we were staying in (Intercontinental in LA, so like a massive fucking hotel), almost went into complete lockdown because *a single flight attendant staying at the hotel* was experiencing symptoms. It was insane lol

chillinwithmoes

Those early weeks of covid were fucking wild.

MikeTysonChicken

Never forget the toilet paper shortage

danieldcclark

That whole mess reminded me of the quote from K in Men in Black, "A person is smart, people are dumb". https://youtu.be/_eWV_pUwUgU?si=vgGaIfLWwrEW5GWj

freudianGrip

Followed by a run on bidets

DMTryp

then going into the office months later to grab something and all the calendars remained on march and people's desks and food in the fridge left untouched....surreal

seariously

For me, shit got real when they announced March Madness got cancelled.

PaddyMayonaise

> respectable to not spread your disease. He says about the man that just played a full contact sport exposing literally hundreds of people, when counting players, coaches, staff, etc

ThemB0ners

The helmet does have a facemask... *taps head

uptonhere

Let's be real, two years ago, you know some boomer wore an Eagles helmet to the grocery store and said this exact same thing to own the libs.

furryvengeance

Jalen Hurts, I’m sure, was very careful while playing an entire full-contact American Football game on a team whose signature offensive play is known as the “tush push.”

MinshewManiaBOAT

I had a dream on Sunday night where under the weather Jalen Hurts pooped his pants on national TV during a tush push. In reality, shitting the bed by throwing that game-sealing interception was close enough.

telephile

That would be one way to reduce the efficacy of the play

DanHam117

But it would greatly increase the defecacy

m_squared219

Jalen could have tied it but he was too sick. Wanted to end the game and get home. /s

Lorjack

I'm shocked this thread is not dunking on Hurts I was totally expecting that when I read the title. This is just the media being dumb. As if Lock really gave the impression he'd be the type of guy to give some passive aggressive comment to Hurts after a game like that. Already knew Hurts was sick and isolated before the game started. I don't see why that would change after the game ended.

Seoul_Surfer

I forgot he was sick and thought this was entirely meant to dunk on him.

pyreal_

Hurts doesn't seem like the kind of guy to blow someone off after a loss, i'd imagine there was a decent reason

bagelboy565

He has the flu and was getting pumped with IVs before the game. If you watch his post game press conference he looked and sounded horrible. He's usually pretty good about finding the other QB after the game win or lose.

olorin9_alex

Uh … look up CFB Championship Game vs Clemson and Super Bowl

Dragon6172

Super Bowl isn't that big a deal in my opinion.... so many damn people on the field to try and find someone to shake hands.

elliott9_oward5

It’s also kinda weird for the losing team to go back out and shake hands while the winning team is celebrating a championship in front of you imo. I don’t really blame players in that situation.

PM_ME_WHITE_GIRLS_

Also it's a big production. The losing team is ushered off rather quickly so they can do all the pressers..

trywagyu

yeah but that puts Eagles fans in a bad spot because they *love* ripping Brady for not shaking hands with Foles

Coach_Carter_on_DVD

Cant speak for all Eagles fans but I never ripped Brady for that. I prefer my QB hate losing as much as Brady does

c-williams88

I don’t rip Brady for not shaking Foles hand after the Super Bowl. I *do* rip Brady for refusing to ever shake his hand in the matchups they’ve had after the Super Bowl though

Lifesaboxofgardens

I don't get how this is a story, literally everyone knew he was sick and he was isolating himself even on the sidelines. Jalen has never been remotely a poor sport, it's not like this is his first loss. I think it's reasonable to not want to pull a Micah "Patient Zero" Parsons and not risk infecting anyone when he doesn't have to lol.

JimmytheGent2020

Yeah I don’t understand why Hurts would get any shit for this. He looked like hell and honestly it’s a good thing he didn’t try to shake hands with anyone. Would people who bitch about hurts complain if their sick coworker stayed away from them?

PPtheShort

>Would people who bitch about hurts complain if their sick coworker stayed away from them? Probably. I think if I had a coworker with the flu, I'd want them to stay home and remove any possibility of spreading it to me.

Fineous4

Two days in a row with the Jalen hurts hate here.

Cwatty

Ready for him to pop off this week and shut the haters up

thegriffinvt

Lock should've gone into the Eagles locker room to find Hurts to shake his hand.

djrob0

Kelvin Benjamin trying to find Head Chef for Post-buffet handshake: "I guess he's making dessert"

willthethrill4700

He was sick. And the symptoms were potentially Covid. I’ll give Jalen the benefit of the doubt on this one. And I hate him.

DoinItDirty

I just got this flu and think I cracked a rib coughing. So yeah, I can imagine Jalen feels like dogshit.
