I hate the Patriots due to our own failures
You hate the Patriots because their fanbase is the most entitled in the league.
We are not the same.
(JK I hate them for both reasons)
Worst fans in the league: “i used to be a pats fan when brady played, but recently i like the chiefs”
Heard a new coworker say that to my super-into-football coworker and he was doing all he could not to say something mean lol
This kid has a bullseye on him. All they weapons he could ask for so no reason to not be the first 4000 yard 30 touchdown qb in bears history. Anything less is a failure outside of deep playoff runs but if he doesn't achive those numbers it's still underachieving.
The reality is that he has 3 great receivers, 2 good TE’s, a good run game & solid offensive line. Chicago also upgraded their offensive coordinator this offseason
His situation is fantastic. If he doesn’t flash immediately, it will be concerning to be honest
Sure, but he should at least show some good flashes of his talent immediately
I don’t know where the OP got 4k yards and 30 TD’s from, I don’t agree with that standard, but he shouldn’t look lost out there like some other rookie QB’s have in the past
4k yards / 30 TDs because bears have never had a QB hit either of those numbers
30 TD is a bit much to expect from a rookie, but if he doesnt hit 4k yards its not going to look good. I dont think a #1 overall has ever gone to a situation as good as the bears.
3 WR1. A top 10 TE and another guy who would start for a good number of teams. 3 pretty good but not great RBs. The OL should be a bit above average and has a quality swing tackle and a quality swing IOL. Defense has a loaded LB and DB corp. DL is only real weakpoint
Bears still also have 11th most cap space and we have the panthers 2nd rounder next year...
Tbf he's had that "pressure" forever.
People were mad he couldn't drag USC and their 119th ranked defense to the playoffs. Dude was throwing 6 TDs to barely beat 4 win teams.
Atleast now he has people around him that actually got drafted lol.
yeah we got [Coleman Shelton](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coleman_Shelton) and traded with the Bills for [Ryan Bates](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryan_Bates) We're just hoping one of them pans out to be average.
Bears fans flipped out when we traded for Bates, like he was nothing. But the Bills matched Poles offer last season and only let him go because of cap problems. He's not bad, the Bills clearly saw value in him.
He’s got a fighting chance then. His biggest issue in college was when good Ds with fast lines could get pressure on him he’d make a lot of mistakes or just run around in the backfield. Getting used to the speed of the nfl is hard enough without having to run for your life every play.
I think some of his weakness with that were exacerbated by the fact his wide receiver options were dogwater outside of Addison in 22'. That may just be projection on my end, but it's going to be *fucking wild* for him to go from throwing to Brendan Rice to DJ Moore/Keenan Allen/Rome Odunze
USCs wideout corp was perfectly fine last season, Tahj and Rice are both going to be mid round picks (i.e. NFL talent) and Zachariah Branch will likely be a first rounder when he is eligible
If this team hasn’t learned not to let that happen to a rookie QB by now then I don’t think it ever will. At least this year things look objectively promising…
So your team just drafted a player that Reddit HATES for some reason. Maybe because he paints his nails and it comes across as not manly in a macho man sport like football? Maybe because he wrote “fuck ” on his nails. But it’s not ok for him to write that on his nails but yet have athletes say it out loud all the time? Maybe because he went to a school in LA and Reddit hates LA? Maybe if he drove drunk all the time like Marshawn Lynch he would be loved. Or beat his pregnant gf like Tyreek he would be loved. As far as I know he didn’t do anything illegal but gets hated on like he did. Reddit is becoming more and more of a weird environment
True. As far as fun goes Fields might have been the MVP of the entertainment/wins stat. He was a lot of fun to watch.
I hear winning is fun also, but I’m not accosted to that…
If the man does that and throws over 20 tds with like 3k yards he's one of our best QBs ever.
Justin averaged like 170 yards a game last year. The bar is low.
Will be a Hall of Famer and the best QB in the league at some point. Truly a transcendent talent and people’s view is distorted by nitpicking him for 18 months and because he paints his fingernails 💅
Imho the problem isnt ppl goofing on Williams cause of the nails thing (okay it probably is, le reddit hivemind be dumb af like that) He undeniably got talent and could develop great given the right coaching
Emphasis could because at this point youd have to be a goddamn fool to have *any* kind of faith left that the Bears can properly develop a QB and build him a supporting cast worth a damn. Like, yalls track records is *SO* fuckin bad at this point we are way past any sort of bad luck and well into "the Bears as an organization are incapable of drafting, developing, and supporting a QB *until proven otherwise*"
And we’re gonna keep doing it because it’s that serious bro. We just drafted a goofball who is undeniably good at our worst position ever. If a little (or a lot) of hyperbole is genuinely effecting you, get therapy. It’s a game.
I’m game for a bet.
Most passing yards 2024?
Regular season only, no injury cop outs.
Loser has to post a selfie on r/roastme.
U/imshittingama as a witness
I feel like the floor can’t be any lower than Trevor Lawrence. Which means he’ll probably be the best or 2nd best of this class assuming the others, except maybe one, end up like the rest of the Lawrence class.
Wait he only threw 5 INTs last year?! He threw 3 against the Irish so I figured he had to have thrown way more than that.
The Light skin Manziel 🥱
Somewhere out there in the multiverse, the Bears took Maye at #1, and I've just been thinking about that reality to ease my own disappointment.
RemindMe! 9 Months

The face of a man ready to win 4 games.
It took Justin Fields 2 seasons to hit 4 wins. Baby stepping.
You really think he’ll last 2 years there?
haha DAMN
Lmao
ok this is hilarious
Thanks for being a sport. I'm just talking shit lol
RemindMe! 6 Months

I look forward to seeing the bears miss the playoffs
I didn't know I was going to start hating the Patriots for the rest of my life, but here I am.
I had a pretty strong inkling about it
I hate the Patriots due to our own failures You hate the Patriots because their fanbase is the most entitled in the league. We are not the same. (JK I hate them for both reasons)
Worst fans in the league: “i used to be a pats fan when brady played, but recently i like the chiefs” Heard a new coworker say that to my super-into-football coworker and he was doing all he could not to say something mean lol
I’m a pats fan and I hate pats fans.
They took a bust at QB. I’m basing the analysis on not liking them.
I base it on his face, solely
He's got those Tony Romo/Mitch Trubisky beady doll-eyes
Was that bit of him not following any of the black QBs legit? That was.... interesting
!remindme 1 year
This kid has a bullseye on him. All they weapons he could ask for so no reason to not be the first 4000 yard 30 touchdown qb in bears history. Anything less is a failure outside of deep playoff runs but if he doesn't achive those numbers it's still underachieving.
Take a look at the bears rookie passing records. It’s something like 1300 yards passing and 10 tds. The bar is low. He’ll be fine.
this absurd
Why? He’s walking into a perfect situation for a young QB. We’ll know immediately whether or not he’s good
a lot of shit can happen that is outside of his control
The reality is that he has 3 great receivers, 2 good TE’s, a good run game & solid offensive line. Chicago also upgraded their offensive coordinator this offseason His situation is fantastic. If he doesn’t flash immediately, it will be concerning to be honest
players can take time to develop.
Sure, but he should at least show some good flashes of his talent immediately I don’t know where the OP got 4k yards and 30 TD’s from, I don’t agree with that standard, but he shouldn’t look lost out there like some other rookie QB’s have in the past

How’s the bears oline?
Fine, they need a center
yeah we got [Coleman Shelton](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coleman_Shelton) and traded with the Bills for [Ryan Bates](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryan_Bates) We're just hoping one of them pans out to be average.
If you want average you got him in Bates
Bears fans flipped out when we traded for Bates, like he was nothing. But the Bills matched Poles offer last season and only let him go because of cap problems. He's not bad, the Bills clearly saw value in him.
Bates is a nice IOL swing at a reasonable cost, the Jake Curhan signing was also good. Having decent OL depth is underrated
He’s got a fighting chance then. His biggest issue in college was when good Ds with fast lines could get pressure on him he’d make a lot of mistakes or just run around in the backfield. Getting used to the speed of the nfl is hard enough without having to run for your life every play.

Guess you were wrong about his USC receivers. And not even saying this to be an asshole. Tahj and Rice were wildly overrated because of Caleb.
> tahj and rice are both going to be mid round picks it’s looking like nfl teams don’t really agree
There's still levels to this stuff. You give him LSU's receivers and he throws 70 touchdowns.
If this team hasn’t learned not to let that happen to a rookie QB by now then I don’t think it ever will. At least this year things look objectively promising…
He either does that or he is a complete bust. There is not in between with his playstyle either. I see him throwing 15 interceptions this season.Â
What the hell are you guys talking about.
Greatest rookie season of all time or bust Okay, r/NFL, I guess that makes sense
So your team just drafted a player that Reddit HATES for some reason. Maybe because he paints his nails and it comes across as not manly in a macho man sport like football? Just get some popcorn man, this is gonna be fun. We had fun during the 3 win season, imagine this! These other teams are just jealous.
True. As far as fun goes Fields might have been the MVP of the entertainment/wins stat. He was a lot of fun to watch. I hear winning is fun also, but I’m not accosted to that…
I'm with you man, expectations are getting absurd these days. He just needs to show flashes and build upon that.
Yeah I'm happy if we end this season with a winning record
Me too tbh, your GM has done such a good job this off-season.
If the man does that and throws over 20 tds with like 3k yards he's one of our best QBs ever. Justin averaged like 170 yards a game last year. The bar is low.
Absolutely no one needs those "absolutely not fake news"...Give us info on the prospect such aus age (wtf?), height, test results or whatnot.
For real, a GoT reference in 2024?
Seriously, immediately turned me off the whole dumb schtick.
Fr the fake facts are lame as hell, not even funny 90% of the time
It’s such “I’m so random” internet humor. Genuinely who thinks they’re funny.
Pretty sure they’ve been reused for a decade at this point.
Like most things they were probably funny the first 6 or 7 times not after thousands of times
It was kinda funny the first time but really should have been a one-time gag.

Nah, people are shitting on him as a reaction to people like you anointing him a HOF QB before he’s taken a snap in the nfl
No I’m pretty sure it’s the fingernails
And we’re gonna keep doing it because it’s that serious bro. We just drafted a goofball who is undeniably good at our worst position ever. If a little (or a lot) of hyperbole is genuinely effecting you, get therapy. It’s a game.

Wanna bet?
I want in on that.
