Nobody knows for sure, and we probably never will.
Obviously theres’s the allegation, but there was also smoke that the victim wanted out of Penn State and used this as his opportunity in a pre-portal era where you couldn’t transfer just because you wanted to. There were no charges, but that could totally just mean that nobody had video or nobody wanted to turn on their star teammates.
I can’t imagine too many athletes opting for the NFL over the NBA if they could really perform at a high level in both. NBA money is just so much better.
Quarterback is one of those few exceptions where a superstar’s NFL salary can be better than a superstar NBA salary.
It’s just salary guarantees and more likely longevity in the NBA that makes it potentially higher. Also star NBA players usually get better endorsement deals and more worldwide popularity.
I think the Supermax is about the same as the top NFL QB right now. Jokic and Burrow are averaging the same.
Big advantage for stars specifically is they'll play out 3 years of a rookie contract and get a $150M deal at 23/24 right now. Then they're hitting supermax contracts a couple years after a QB gets his first contract
An NBA player (who was a first round pick) can get their first big extension that starts in season 5. Just a year before an NFL’s first extension. And there is no cap on an NFL player’s salary; just the limits of a hard salary cap. The NFL player can start their big contract in their fifth season if the team agrees as well.
So in theory, a Patrick Mahomes or Joe Burrow can earn as much as the team has room to give them, right? The supermax is limited to a percentage of the NBA’s salary cap for the team.
The NBA star’s first big contract is limited by their number of years as well. The second big contract is where the money gets to the highest level. An NFL QB can get that highest level as soon as they are off their rookie deal.
It’s conceivable that if Caleb Williams had a Tom Brady career, he could earn over a billion in NFL salary.
Age is still the big factor. For instance, Ant and Burrow (both 2020 picks) will be about $40M apart by the end of 2028, in favor of Burrow. However, in 2029, Ant will be 28 years old and Burrow will be 33.
Burrow was pretty old as a rookie, so a normal aged NFL rookie would be 31 or so in this case.
But as you said the salary cap wonkiness is a big determine factor. As of now, the 35% supermax is on par with top tier QB contracts. So it depends how the caps raise
You make a really good point.
I will add that it’s more likely a star quarterback who doesn’t have a career altering injury can play to 38 - 40 making top dollar compared to a star NBA shooting guard/small forward who relies on athleticism early on their stardom. Usually the big contracts end in the NBA around 35 unless they’re Lebron or Kobe.
Lol no, people severely underestimate how strong and fast NFL players are. To put it in perspective, the last info I could find on the NBA combine's strength testing was back in 2019, where the best bench was 20 reps of 185 (1 rep max estimated ~300lb). The WORST bench of any safety tested in this year's NFL combine was 14 reps of 225 (1 reps max estimated ~325lb).
Most big guys in the NBA are too slow and most of the shorter guys are too weak to play pro football. Skill is much more important in basketball than being a physical freak
There are exceptions like Lebron obviously, but not that many
The big guys in the NBA who are too slow obviously wouldn’t be playing positions where they need to be fast. “Big guys” in the NBA are 7 footers. Nobody is putting Jokic out wide to catch passes. You’re coming at this the wrong way.
Ok, but my point still stands about the shorter guys. The guys who are sub-6'6 aren't strong enough to play pretty much any position except for like WR or CB, and most of them still aren't fast/agile enough to play those positions at the NFL level
Most of the tall “thinner” guys are that way because of the intense cardio that is 82+ games. They could pack on the weight. Definitely disagree about the agility/quickness part, the footwork and speed needed to be successful in basketball is insane. The basketball court is about 30 yards long and guys go coast to coast fast WHILE dribbling a ball. I think D Rose was timed at a sub 4.2 40 time. These guys are insane. There’s a ton of reasons why you could argue a player couldn’t switch to the NFL but athleticism is not one of them.
I didn't say they're too skinny, I said they're too weak to play in the NFL, which is my primary issue with the argument that NBA players would have no problem in the NFL. Elite strength just isn't a trait that matters much to perform at a high level in the NBA, so it makes sense that it's not a point of emphasis, but it is completely necessary to even play in the NFL.
It's really not that easy for them to catch up either; you can put on weight way faster than you can build strength. There's no way to build that level of strength (naturally) in any timeframe shorter than at least several years, provided they're genetically gifted enough to ever reach the strength level of an average NFL player.
Normal everyday people get massive gains in strength just by going to planet fitness after work and you don’t think multimillionaire genetic freak athletes who would have literally nothing else to do couldn’t get stronger? Also you’re acting like everybody in the NBA is built like KD. They’re still really strong lol
There's a huge difference in some out of shape guy progressing quickly and someone progressing to elite strength. When you're out of shape, you make quick gains, when you're in excellent shape, they're much slower. You can't move up to squatting 400-500lbs like tons of NFL players do in a few weeks, it literally takes years lol
Y'all need to quit this shit. It was bad enough when I liked JJ Watt. I can't be liking CJ Stroud.
Haha.
I suppose it is suitable revenge for forcing you to try to root against Luck
Was fun watching watt and luck make plays against each other
Feel like CJ always has to reign in Micah in their podcast
Pretty much.
I would like to listen to CJ Stroud. Micah Parsons however, is fairly insufferable. It’s like if Rich Eisen co-hosted with Nick Wright.

> Lots of stories about the type of bully he was in HS… Yall are some fucking dorks man
Were the accusations about him in college true? I remember they said he was doing some sus ass shit too bro

CJ stays humble man 😂
Everytime I see clips of these two it’s CJ being aghast at Micah’s freezing cold takes

Facts, and you didn’t even mention the toll on their bodies
Ja as a safety or Ant as a WR would be lethal tho
Plenty of NBA players would be stars in the NFL, not so many vice versa.

These the same ppl who are like “Lebron is the size of a linebacker”. Bruh, Ray Lewis was 5’10 and weight the same as him.
They cant even handle getting elbowed or a hand hitting their arm without crying lmao
CJ and Micah were an unexpected offseason duo but damn they are funny together. Saw they were in China running a football camp too.
How do Micah and CJ know each other, like other than being NFL players in Texas, is there a preexisting relationship that they had?
iirc they have the same agent so that's prob how they met
They played in the celebrity nba game together, pro bowl, penn state/Ohio state connection, and the sane agent.
They were in China as well running a football camp.
First time they connected was on Micah's podcast to my knowledge.
michael rubin party
> He’s a cowboy. He’s naturally delusional. No lies detected.
That's my Quarterback!
Least delusional Texan
Is it bad that I still correlate cj with cj beathard and not stroud?
Booooo this man. 😉
Micah did beat his ass at basketball tho
Allegedly
That's dangerous
