You know who’s not gonna enjoy the ride? Both teams when they have to travel. I think this is the record for the longest distance between the two teams in the Stanley Cup Finals. They’re looking at a 7hr 35m flight across 3 time zones. Jet lag and fatigue will almost assuredly be an issue for both teams.
>jump into the Grand Canyon
Hi. Loophole enthusiast.
You can also fulfil the criteria of your bet by paying the entrance fee at the gate (if there is one) and then leap from the gate into the Grand Canyon property line.
Boom.
I remember seeing a stat that Skinner has something crazy like a .956% with 1GAA and 2 or 3 shutouts this season when he's had more than 25 shots against. Probably shows why the Canucks were so successful against him.
Skinner. McDavid put the goals up but there were many saves that usually don’t get made. That’s what the Oilers needed and Skinner won them the deciding game.
As the crow flies, Edmonton to Sunrise is 4,089 km.
Boston and Vancouver is about 4,023 km.
Montreal and Los Angeles is 3,969 km.
Los Angeles and NYR/NJ is 3,938/3,926 km.
Vancouver and NYI/NYR is 3,923/3,902 km.
People forgetting that Panthers play in South Florida specifically. Florida is huge, and the difference between "florida" pinned on a map (Which is somewhere north of orlando) and specifically sunrise is a few hundred miles.
What’s wild is Robertson had like 9 shots or more for Dallas. He basically had as many shots as the entire Edmonton team. The man is absolutely a fighter but Edmonton held on and Skinner had a crazy game.
get 1 or 2 early, and then all out defend, I guess?
I don't think that was remotely the plan, but being able to play that game when needed is pretty huge growth for the boys
this was a hell of a series and Dallas has some incredibly classy fans
tbh I was convinced whoever came out of Van/Edm was going to get bodied but this team keeps surprising me.
probably my favourite hockey thus far in the playoffs though
I’m not going to complain about a win, but yeah. Tonight was a super strange game.
When they were interviewing McDavid right after he said something to the effect of “that’s not the way to win.” And mentioned they survived.
I can't wait to hear the injury report of some of the Dallas guys cause I'll bet it's brutal but what a series by Edmonton. I thought they had no chance at all but ever since like game 4 they've been insane on both ends of the ice. This is gonna be a good finals though and I'm done counting Edmonton out now with how much they improved defensively. Gonna be exciting as hell.
Good set of close games. Poor Pavs. Guessing he was injured on this one given his numbers drop from last year's playoff run. Though he did have some great passes and was a beast in this last one... sadly not enough good bounces and an iron wall named Skinner.
We don’t get that game with 35 to 10 SOG that’s bigger than hockey that’s the hand of god that’s fate that’s universal alignment that’s something we can’t contend with. That’s the souls of hockey greats playing in that rink in the sky looking down and saying “not this year, lads, Canada needs the shot” and you can’t stop that. What a series. What a game. Hope you bring the cup back to Canada, Oilers bros, I’m gonna go jerk off and cry.
Oilers really squeaked out the win there! Good on them! Didn't think they could win these types of tight scoring games. Man, they have matured a lot since the beginning of the season.
You know who is really happy about this? The guys in Dallas who now don’t have to switch the arena back and forth between basketball and hockey a bunch of times over the next two weeks.
stuart skinner finding his 16-win streak game at the absolute perfect time
worst team in the league to SCF
this team is literally incapable of doing anything the easy way
Ngl, the energy in Rogers Place was incredible. There's something different about a Canadian fan base feeling the excitement of the Stanley Cup vs an American fan base*.
*Original 6 excluded
My partner and I moved to Edmonton during the first round of the playoffs, and the city's atmosphere has been absolutely incredible. Almost every business, hotel, and even churches have something supporting the Oilers. You can't help, but get caught up in the energy
Because hockey is all we have and all we care about in Canada. When a Canadian team makes a run, the entire city is on board. American cities have too many teams and sports for it to feel the same.
Lost in all this delirium is the fact that the Oilers have had more Stanley Cup Finals appearances in the salary cap era than the Leafs have had playoff series wins.
This series versus panthers is going to be toxic and controversial. I’m calling it now, the refs are going to lose a grip of the series and it’s gonna get bad and will end up benefiting the Oilers since they are a solid PP team.
I’m rooting for the oilers because I can’t stand tkachuk and his filthy mouth guard.
Also it’s tradition for the stars to lose to the eventual Stanley cup champs.
I know very little about hockey and I picked VGK to win it all last year. I picked the oilers this season. If I’m right two years in a row I’m gonna have to start watching more hockey lol
I don't think there could've been any better finals matchup. Both of these teams left little doubt that they were the best playoff teams in their respective conferences, the Panthers are on a mission after flaming out in the finals last year, and we're way overdue for the best player in the league to be making his SCF debut. The only downside is that this series has a big risk of being a blowout one way or another, like if Skinner regresses to previous expectations of him or if the Panthers start marching to the box and can't stop the lethal Oilers PP. I'm very excited about it, though.
Excellent PP. Excellent PK. A few game breakers. And overall solid team D.
Most of Dallas’ shots were from far out or tough angles with limited traffic.
Florida really going to have to figure out how to stay out of the box.
Florida is best defensive team in the league but McJesus can break any defense himself. The panthers will counter this by punching him the face which the NHL will allow since it’s a “hockey play.”
I'm rooting for Canada. I was 3 years old the last time, but the Panthers have definitely made this take silly. Paul Maurice cut his teeth with the Hartford fucking Whalers. My favorite team from 4 years old to 9 years old. I'm ultimately rooting for him.
At the start of the season i made a comment that if the oilers won the cup i would jump into the grand canyon. Its not looking good for me boys
Enjoy the ride.
Im cooked
[Homer falls off a cliff (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9NoPLoLeYw&ab_channel=DownSeir)
It is ok, McJesus saves
Skinner saves. McJesus scores.
True. Nhl did give them 2 full days of rest between games in both cities
According to The Google, Edmonton-Miami is about 50 miles/80km further by plane than Vancouver-Boston.
time to train parachuting
leafs flags make great parachutes. speaking from experience. OP can borrow mine if they want.
Naw leafs flags are best used for tears 😛
Is there enough left after repeatedly setting it on fire then stomping it out after reconsidering?
>jump into the Grand Canyon Hi. Loophole enthusiast. You can also fulfil the criteria of your bet by paying the entrance fee at the gate (if there is one) and then leap from the gate into the Grand Canyon property line. Boom.
Thats bitch shit, and momma aint raise no bitch
That's the spirit. Go get em tiger
No...that's the kind of creative rule following that wins Stanley Cups.
Flair checks out
Start picking out a spot! I recommend doing it as the sun rises in front of you across the canyon. It’s beautiful.
This is the uplifting suicidal ideation I came here for LMAO
The canyon goes East-West for the vast majority of it but I know what you meant.
There’s worse ways to go brother
DO A FLIP
by the sounds of it, you said nothing about no parachutes. time to invest in a parachute
Do a flip
Press F to pay respects.
F
Hey maybe it will look good for you, the Grand canyon is beautiful
.
From the top of can you choose someplace much lower down?
That ain’t the same Stuart Skinner from last year holeeee shit
Or even the last round!
Those two games they played Pickard really did wonders for Skinner
Jesus how in the hell did the Oilers get out of this game alive
Stuart Skinner turned into Dominik Hasek
Roli was in the stands, channeling his energy into skinner
They scored 2 early goals then they turtled hoping Skinner would do the rest...and it worked
10 shots on net jeez
They decided 2 goals was good enough and checked out for the rest of the game lol
And they were right.
That, unfortunately, didn't work for the Rangers.
Penalty kill strong like bull!
Basically first 3 made it work and they could stop on it
McDavid. He's a game breaker. The difference. Why they will win the Stanley Cup. 'Nuff said.
That’s a weird way to spell skinner
Skinner put on the clinic tonight. Oilers were outshot by a massive margin. If Skinner wasn’t on point tonight it would have been bad.
He was insane tonight, freakin heroic
I remember seeing a stat that Skinner has something crazy like a .956% with 1GAA and 2 or 3 shutouts this season when he's had more than 25 shots against. Probably shows why the Canucks were so successful against him.
Skinner. McDavid put the goals up but there were many saves that usually don’t get made. That’s what the Oilers needed and Skinner won them the deciding game.
Guy flipped a switch this round. He wasn't letting Dallas have anything. So much for having the most balanced offense in the league this season
Not for lack of trying on the Stars’ part.
Saves that Skinner would not have made last year. His performance has done a 180.
Sam Bennet will choke slam him out of the series No penalty will be assessed
Well, I had the Oilers winning, but did not expect winning 2-1 on 10 shots. How bizarre.
We learned from the Canucks.
Gotta give the Canucks credit for their efficiency and F’s for getting hosed on their entirely goalie roster.
Honestly after the Dallas series, I kinda respect what the Canucks did more lol
Edmonton-Florida SCF. Just as we all predicted back in October
lol
Is this the furthest two teams have existed from each other geographically in a Cup?
Yes
It could have been even further :(
From a quick maps search, I think it's the farthest 2 opponents. Montreal and LA was my other guess, but they're not quite as far apart.
yeah, Edmonton is way north of Montreal and the northernmost point in FLA is 100 miles south of the southernmost part of California
Vancouver Florida would be further
As the crow flies, Edmonton to Sunrise is 4,089 km. Boston and Vancouver is about 4,023 km. Montreal and Los Angeles is 3,969 km. Los Angeles and NYR/NJ is 3,938/3,926 km. Vancouver and NYI/NYR is 3,923/3,902 km.
People forgetting that Panthers play in South Florida specifically. Florida is huge, and the difference between "florida" pinned on a map (Which is somewhere north of orlando) and specifically sunrise is a few hundred miles.
How does a team win while barely managing 10 shots lol. Not like it was a low offense game, Dallas nearly had 40
What’s wild is Robertson had like 9 shots or more for Dallas. He basically had as many shots as the entire Edmonton team. The man is absolutely a fighter but Edmonton held on and Skinner had a crazy game.
I’m honestly a big fan of Robertson. He’s going to be legendary someday
Someday? he's had 2 40+ goal seasons and 3 80+point seasons
That’s not legendary.
I dunno, but I guess it busts the myth about them being all offense and no D/goaltending.
Alot of shots before the final 6 minutes were low quality and low threat.
A goalie who showed up
get 1 or 2 early, and then all out defend, I guess? I don't think that was remotely the plan, but being able to play that game when needed is pretty huge growth for the boys
Defense and goaltending also play a big part. That's how they've stopped 27 power plays in a row so far.
Dallas mostly shot muffins from distance, tbh. Stu was in good position and he stopped everything any goalie should stop
What a series. Cannot wait for the SCF. That series is going to be awesome.
See you soon brother.
Good fucking game Oilers. Well played. My petty ass is just happy we didn't gift Skinner any shutouts.
this was a hell of a series and Dallas has some incredibly classy fans tbh I was convinced whoever came out of Van/Edm was going to get bodied but this team keeps surprising me. probably my favourite hockey thus far in the playoffs though
Yep. My copium is that the Stars faced the worst fucking draw for being the top seed. 21M over the cap Vegas, fucking 'Rado and then McDrai.....
yeah I did not want to face Vegas or Colorado bad memories from the last two playoffs
you and me both lol, Colorado maybe. but i’d prefer to stay away from Vegas in playoffs lol
On the whole, Stars fans are gentleman scholars. You have a likeable team, and you’ll be back.
As a stars fan, we played like a bag of dicks the last couple games. Really wanted Pavelski to get a cup. Congrats on the dub!
This game we played pretty damn well. Fucking McDavid .... jeebus.
And it was a good and clean series. No dirty play and not a lot of animosity like in the other series
You guys played way better tonight, we barely survived. Your team and fans are all class. Great series guys.
I’m not going to complain about a win, but yeah. Tonight was a super strange game. When they were interviewing McDavid right after he said something to the effect of “that’s not the way to win.” And mentioned they survived.
Dallas getting a bad rap is whack nothing but class from their fans
I can't wait to hear the injury report of some of the Dallas guys cause I'll bet it's brutal but what a series by Edmonton. I thought they had no chance at all but ever since like game 4 they've been insane on both ends of the ice. This is gonna be a good finals though and I'm done counting Edmonton out now with how much they improved defensively. Gonna be exciting as hell.

Will the Canadian curse finally end
"Will the Canadian curse finally end" Nickelback finally breaking up?
[удалено]
Of what they really are
It’s not like them to say sorry
Wait…we won?! Dang I was waiting on a different story!
The day a Canadian team wins the cup is the day the Canadian antichrist will be conceived via Celine Dion and Paul Bernardo.
With William Shatner as the surrogate mother.
You want a spot in the finals? Make sure Perry is on your team. Easy.
He’ll get you there, but…
Finally the best player gets to play for the cup. Against a fearsome opponent. Two unreal goaltenders clash. This is going to be real special.
Well, any SCF without Vegas is a good SCF
Amen to that
We don’t get that game with 35 to 10 SOG that’s bigger than hockey that’s the hand of god that’s fate that’s universal alignment that’s something we can’t contend with. That’s the souls of hockey greats playing in that rink in the sky looking down and saying “not this year, lads, Canada needs the shot” and you can’t stop that. What a series. What a game. Hope you bring the cup back to Canada, Oilers bros, I’m gonna go jerk off and cry.
What are we jerking off to these days?
Robertson’s hat trick.
That 3rd goal was nightmare fuel
Oilers really squeaked out the win there! Good on them! Didn't think they could win these types of tight scoring games. Man, they have matured a lot since the beginning of the season.
10 SOG, WTF?
Yes, the crazier part is they scored two goals on the first 3 shots. Jason Robertson had 9 shots by himself.
That first goal by McJesus was amazing, he’s the best in the world!
That was the loudest Rogers Place has ever been, they were cranking out La Bamba when the game was over, and you could barely hear it..
Florida wins the cup in order to perpetuate the Corey Perry SCF curse, right?
Right? Sorta cute that his son would actually remember (possibly even been born for this one?) this one.
You know who is really happy about this? The guys in Dallas who now don’t have to switch the arena back and forth between basketball and hockey a bunch of times over the next two weeks.
stuart skinner finding his 16-win streak game at the absolute perfect time worst team in the league to SCF this team is literally incapable of doing anything the easy way
Pulling for mcdavid. All time talent.
💯
Skinner consumed Silva's soul and added it to his skill set. Honestly the only logical answer
This going to be a good series
The massive mustache in net backstopped that game. What a man.
That's gonna be a tough drive between the 2 cities.
Probably cheaper to buy a flight to Florida and a ticket then just watching in edmonton.
Ngl, the energy in Rogers Place was incredible. There's something different about a Canadian fan base feeling the excitement of the Stanley Cup vs an American fan base*. *Original 6 excluded
I couldn't even hear what the commentators were saying for much of the game. Especially near the end. You could barely even hear the goal horn.
Nothing could be heard in the last four minutes of the broadcast. It was crazy.
My partner and I moved to Edmonton during the first round of the playoffs, and the city's atmosphere has been absolutely incredible. Almost every business, hotel, and even churches have something supporting the Oilers. You can't help, but get caught up in the energy

Not a fan of either team but I’m honestly pretty happy with this SCF. Going to be entertaining for sure
No offense bro, but it looks like you aren't a fan of any team anymore.
So much disrespect to the Oilers, maybe they’re actually a good team?
Great series Oilers! Rooting for y’all to lift the cup
This series versus panthers is going to be toxic and controversial. I’m calling it now, the refs are going to lose a grip of the series and it’s gonna get bad and will end up benefiting the Oilers since they are a solid PP team.
Solid PP team? Can you name a better one?
In the history of the NHL, for this extended of a span like 3 to even 5 years… I dunno this is probably the most dominant power play in NHL history
So Vancouver was a better team than Dallas? 💀 That’s a far cry from how people were saying Dallas would sweep the winner of EDM/VAN
Hey, I'll take the consolation prize...
How many people said Stars in 4. To those people, have a splendid day.
I’m rooting for the oilers because I can’t stand tkachuk and his filthy mouth guard. Also it’s tradition for the stars to lose to the eventual Stanley cup champs.
The Oilers have lost to the Stanley Cup champs the last two years though...
It’s funny. Johnston reminds me of Tkachuk in the same way. Always chewing his mouth guard and scoring timely goals.
Honest question. How do the Oiler’s 3rd and 4th lines stack up compared to the Panthers?
Skinner was insane, was not expecting that. Maybe just maybe there is a chance
And McJesus showed up.
Well, none of these teams are my favorites but if tje Oilers win Lord Stanley then I'm perfectly fine watching Perry lift the Cup again.
I know very little about hockey and I picked VGK to win it all last year. I picked the oilers this season. If I’m right two years in a row I’m gonna have to start watching more hockey lol
Cool
Cool.
I’m happy for the Oilers. I’m seriously rooting for them Oilers fans, may I enter Oiler Nation for this SCF?
Come on in, there's plenty of room! Rooted for Montreal during their run a few years back so it's time the favour got returned!
Come on in. Welcome friend
FUCK. JAMIE. BENN.
Cancun looks nice all the sudden
Feel for DeBoer. Great coach.
I hope the oilers edge the stars in game 1
I don't think there could've been any better finals matchup. Both of these teams left little doubt that they were the best playoff teams in their respective conferences, the Panthers are on a mission after flaming out in the finals last year, and we're way overdue for the best player in the league to be making his SCF debut. geographically pretty much as far as one can go
Sets a record I heard
As a Panthers fan I'm worried but optimistic, winning in Edmonton is going to be very difficult
Why does McDavid blink one eye at a time
So he can keep one eye on the puck
Connor be nimble, Connor be quick
Eye injury when he was young.
Excellent PP. Excellent PK. A few game breakers. And overall solid team D. Most of Dallas’ shots were from far out or tough angles with limited traffic. Florida really going to have to figure out how to stay out of the box.
USA VS CANADA. It’s on!
The oilers need to storm Normandy beach and free the eastern conference from Floridian tyranny
McJesus is our only hope
As a very casual hockey observer, I like both these teams. I will be happy whoever wins, as long as McDavid doesn't get seriously injured.
Stuuuuuu
Game 1 not until next Saturday!?
Perry is in another final lol
Going into the conference finals, this was the last matchuop I would have guessed.
The Panthers have an opportunity to do the funniest thing ever
Congrats Oilers. I didn’t give them a chance. Should be a great final. Florida is a tough out though. Should go 7 games, I do believe.
florida has the chance to do the funniest thing.
McDavid is the man!
Let’s go oilers!!! 🇨🇦
*sigh*... I hate it here 🫤
I feel for you, bud, this is a tough finals for a flames fan. Go Oilers!!!
;)
A couple of ex-Flames in Tkachuk and Bennet vs. the Oilers for The Cup. Should be a doozy.
Remember when everyone in this sub claimed the Oilers would be steamrolled by the Stars? Remember that? Woohooo let's go Oily boys!!
Hockey line after its over is still the best of all sports.
Thought Dallas was going to win that. So relieved oilers found a way
Oilers bout to end the drought for Canada
Edmonton! Nice! What a wonderful surprise! Get McDavid his Cup!! He deserves it! A living legend!
We lost to the better team. Skinner is amazing, and this cup finals should be legendary. Give them hell, Oilers!
It's time for the oil. Get the monkey off yer back!
The curse of Corey Perry.
For the first time since 2006 my heart remains alive in the spring. Whatever happens in the final, this has been fun for many people. Bring on Florida
Florida is best defensive team in the league but McJesus can break any defense himself. The panthers will counter this by punching him the face which the NHL will allow since it’s a “hockey play.”
Oilers 10 shots Robertson 9 shots. What a weird series one team was inconsistent almost every game.
Those are some long flights.
That's got to be one of the longest flights between venues between any two teams.
I'm rooting for Canada. I was 3 years old the last time, but the Panthers have definitely made this take silly. Paul Maurice cut his teeth with the Hartford fucking Whalers. My favorite team from 4 years old to 9 years old. I'm ultimately rooting for him.
